Soup dumplings

Had the chance to check out Triple Pepper! I'm shocked how many locations they had here in Houston I think my rating is closer to 3.7~/5 truly but no half star or decimal stars here on yelp. Lets get into it! Things we ordered: Black pepper beef - loved this dish! Perfectly done, juicy, very good serving amount loved the onions, bell pepper. We absolutely killed this dish Spicy crispy chicken - cooked to perfection! Loved how very true it was to the name. Very crispy, very good mix of the Sichuan peppers. I think the meat quality overall here is quite good. I would even rank it above the other spicy crispy chicken dishes I've had at other Sichuan restaraunts for the meat quality alone. Soup dumplings - Very thick dumpling dough, not as much soup inside as I was hoping to be honest. Bit disappointed by how little soup was in each one. Pretty bland from our group's consensus. Stir fried flat noodle with beef - I think this was great, as with the other meat dishes, all the meat tasted fresh and were perfectly done. Good serving amount for price Chili pepper with wonton - fairly disappointed with this one. Pretty bland overall, tasteless. We didn't want to even finish it by the end of it. I was hoping for more spice or kick to it similar to another Sichuan place I frequently go to and it really did not hit the mark IMO. Attentive staff that checked in with us quite often. Refilled water consistently even on a busy night and thats huge plus in bellaire! Overall from everything we ordered, we are much more incline to stick with the meat dishes here from what we've seen. I think the spicy crispy chicken and black pepper beef were above other Sichuan restaraunts ive been to so ill have to revisit to see if I'd recommend it over their fierce competition against all the other Sichuan restaraunts in town

Located in the same plaza as Don Cafe. Parking can get crowded when the plaza is busy, particularly at night. We were able to get a table without a wait, but it was crowded for dinner on a weekend night. Ambience was chill but the interior design was very intricate.   Their menu was abundant, a lot of classic Sichuan options to choose from. Service was quick and waiter was friendly. We ordered a few dishes to share:   Spicy crispy chicken: one of my fave Sichuan dish but it was not as crispy as I would have liked. Wontons in spicy chili sauce: spicy chili sauce had good flavors, not too spicy and decent portion. Snow pea leaves: can't go wrong with snow pea leaves, good portion overall. Soup dumplings: thought this was okay, a good amount of soup inside but didn't wow me.

Exterior is unassuming, but the interior is huge and they even have a private room. They have a vast menu, along side a bubble tea menu. The service was attentive, and they would come by and clean up or take away anything that we were done with. They even packed our leftover food very efficiently. We ordered their triple pepper beef, and shrimp. Generous and delicious portions. The vegetable was sautéed well with garlic. The fried rice was packed with protein, and was done well. The dumplings and Dan Dan noodles were flavourful but overly salty - hence removed a star. Everything was generous, but the heavy handed salt seasoning can be remedied. Look forward to trying other items from their menu.

Triple Pepper is easily one of the best Sichuan-style restaurants in Houston. My fiancée and I ordered three different dishes, and every single one was a 10/10. The flavors were bold, authentic, and perfectly balanced--exactly what you want from Sichuan cuisine. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone who loves spicy, flavorful food. Come hungry!

Good lord the food was stunning and knocked me out. Dumplings were incredible and had a really unexpected sweetness to them. cold noodles slapped. crispy chicken dish was very good. And one of the most incredible tasting, savory, delicious hot and sour soups I have ever had. Yes szechuan is one of my favorite cuisines, but this place was truly special. Plus good service and solid portions and price. Nothing was wicked spicy, even the dishes listed as such, but that is okay, and everything definitely had a little kick to it! Easily five stars.

Absolutely love Triple Pepper! The food is flavorful, authentic, and packed with that perfect Sichuan spice and mala flavor. Everything we ordered was delicious, portions were generous, and the atmosphere was clean, modern, and welcoming. The service was also friendly and attentive. Definitely one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Houston and a place I'll keep coming back to. Highly recommend!

They're not kidding calling this triple pepper. Wildly spicy, with tons of red peppers. Also very delicious and different from typical American style Chinese. Definitely worth trying if you like spicy food. I ordered via Uber eats so I can't comment on service or ambiance. But it came quickly which was good. And they had a good bogo deal which encouraged me to try it for the first time. This was a 4.5 star experience for me, because it was a little too spicy, but I'm rounding up.

Decided to randomly go to Chinatown to find something to eat and we saw that this place had good reviews. We ordered fried dumplings, beef/shrimp chow mein, and black pepper beef. The food took about 20 minutes. Everything tasted delicious. I believe we paid $42 for all 3 dishes! I would come back but I would pass on the fried dumplings.

Hot and sour glass noodle

I first heard some reviews when they just opened and always been hesitated to try, but now I'm glad I did. The service, environment, and food are wonderful. Prices for the dishes varies but the portion is very generous, would be a good pick for big family dine out and they take reservations. My most recommend would be the dry pots and the hot sour noodles. All the dry pot will be served with the fish hanger, great for picture and aesthetic. The glass noodle is numbing spicy and tangy because of the vinegar so makes it so addicting to keep eating. Overall their dishes are not too spicy, and they have non spicy specialities too. I will come back again to try more!

Chinatown has changed so much, and the plaza with the original Mala is no exception. Triple Pepper has brazenly shown up a stone's throw away. I already went twice in the last two weeks, and when I brought up the first time to my dad (we're Sichuanese), he asked me every day when we would go. Dishes we ordered across the 2 days: == Tossed clear noodles with chili sauce == solid, great texture on the noodles, good spice levels, 5/5 == Sliced beef and ox tongue in chili sauce == solid, this might be one of the more 'adventurous' dishes for those who are unfamiliar with the uncommon beef cuts. 5/5 == Fish fillet with rattan pepper == probably my favorite dish we ordered, lots of green sichuan peppercorn. 5/5 == Mapo Tofu == classic dish, goes well with rice 4/5 == Eight delicacies tofu == good dish, though everyone was expecting (hoping) it to be spicy (1 pepper level on the menu), but it wasn't. 3/5 == Pepper Stir-Fried Chicken == classic dish. Good amount of meat, though there's quite a bit more skin bits. Missing the mound of red chilis. == Pepper Stir-Fried Chicken (bone in) == the REAL classic dish. Similar to the boneless one, where are all the red chilis??? == Specialty stir-fried beef tender == good flavors 5/5 Other thoughts: + Menu has plenty of dishes with photos + Friendly staff + Rice was solid, just dry enough to mix well with the saucier dishes - A little skimpy on the amount of red chilis on the classic dishes like laziji, and what seems to be substitution with jalapeños. - The chicken and beef dishes were quite salty (even my dad commented on it, and he's a little heavy on the salt himself), you definitely need to eat with rice. Next time, we'll have to order dry pot (the dry pot holder looks very impressive on the other tables that ordered it), and to FINALLY order my all-time Sichuanese dish favorite: water cooked beef / Chongqing boiled beef. In Houston, we have been blessed with Mala Sichuan, which begs the question: do we need another Sichuan spot? Triple Pepper has answered with a numbing, sweating YES -- actually my nose is sweating just thinking about it...

Great new Szechuan place. Came here on a Wednesday around 5:30pm. There were several tables of customers. By the time we left the place filled up. Beautiful lux interior. Clean restrooms. Plenty of seating. Service was quick; they were good at refilling water, taking order, food came out at good pace. They have all the Szechuan usuals. Very authentic flavors. My favorite was the fish fillet with pickled vegetables. Very good portions as well. Definitely will be coming back.

Spectacular!!!! We go to Mala Sichuan in the same plaza for sichuanese cravings but decided to try triple pepper out and what a beautiful addition to our rotation of Chinese restaurants! This fish dish was to die for. Dream about it often. Spice is a little high so beware! Cabbage dish was simple but also so delicious. Little ingredients make the cabbage's natural flavours really shine, and this style of chinese cooking in vegetarian dishes is so comforting. Chicken dish was good but not as good as the one at mala but still very delicious.

Pork hock, dan dan noodles
Neha S.

The pricing was decent here - we did family style and ordered one order of spicy wontons, pork hock, and dan dan noodles, and it was about $16 each after tax and tip. The service was good and speedy, and the food came out nice and hot. No complaints there. The ambiance was cool. I liked how open and green everything was. It felt very earthy. My main issue was that the food itself wasn't super flavorful. The dumpling meat could've been way more tender. The actual chili oil or sauce they were in didn't have any flavor or spice either. The dan dan noodles were very light and did have a Szechuan aspect to them, but I've had better. The pork was definitely the star of the meal, and made up for the other dishes. The pork was cooked perfectly, and easily came off the bone with just a light pull with chopsticks. The sauce with the rice was also a good addition.

5 Stars - Authentic Szechuan that absolutely nails the classics…read more During our short trip to Houston, as a custom, we were determined to find real Szechuan food, and luckily we found Hu's Kitchen. The location is a bit unassuming, and parking is definitely tough (the spaces are very shallow), but the second we walked through the doors and smelled the Szechuan peppercorns, I knew we were in exactly the right place. I generally judge a Szechuan restaurant by their 夫妻肺片 (Fuqi Feipian)--which they cleverly name "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" on the menu. They completely nailed it. The beef, tripe, and tendon were incredibly cohesive together, yet you could tell each component was prepared and marinated in a slightly different way to perfectly highlight its specific texture. The chili oil was right on the spot. We went through a massive bowl of rice just eating this dish alone. Honestly, if I weren't feeding a family of four, I could have just ordered that and been perfectly happy. While the Fuqi Feipian proves their skill with dry dishes, the 水煮魚片 (Fish in Szechuan Hot Chili Oil) proves their skill with wet ones. It's another must-order. The execution was flawless--we didn't just finish the tender fish chunks, we ate every last piece of cabbage soaked in that incredible chili broth. For my two daughters who can't handle the heat, we ordered the fried rice, garlic pork ribs with onion, and the 紅燒獅子頭 (Giant Meatball with Cabbage). The giant meatball was spectacular. The kids completely devoured it on their own, but I managed to steal a bite, and it instantly brought back childhood memories of exactly how this dish is supposed to taste. We also had the Dan Dan Noodles, which were great and rounded out the meal perfectly. I loved all of the dishes we tried. Should we ever find ourselves in Houston again, we will absolutely be revisiting this hidden gem.

Unfortunately, I shouldn't have ignored the average reviews, as this is what it turned out to be. I had lunch at Bambi House this last Friday for the first time. I was disappointed for a couple of reasons: my Orange chicken was basically mostly tempura and very thin slices of chicken. I had purchased the orange chicken, which was $9.85, with egg fried rice. The chicken was average in flavor, but as I mentioned before, the chicken was in thin slices; therefore, I mostly had tempura drowned in the orange chicken sauce. The fried rice was bland in flavor. Honestly, I agree: half and the re w the rest away. Admittedly, all of the 5-star reviews I read praised the duck, so perhaps that's what they're really good at. Unfortunately, I will probably never be back, because thin slices of chicken don't meet my expectations.

It is very much a chain restaurant, and it has that polished, standardized feel to it. I've eaten here a number of times, and while I wouldn't say the food stands out above some of the other Chinese restaurants in the area, everything I've had has always been good. I've never gotten anything that tasted bad or had an order come out wrong. It's just consistently solid. One sleeper hit on their menu, though, is the lava buns. They're warm egg custard buns like you'll sometimes find at dim sum places, and they are really good. Honestly, they're probably one of my favorite things here. I've even stopped by after already having dinner just to get an order to take home for dessert. They're definitely best hot, so I'd recommend eating them pretty quickly. The design of the restaurant is probably more memorable than the main food. They really committed to a specific industrial, techno-chic look with neon signs, animated menu boards, exposed metal, acrylic panels, textured wall details, and movies playing by the bar. The theme is carried throughout the whole place really well. At the same time, all of the metal and harder surfaces can make the inside feel a little cold and unwelcoming. There isn't much traditional indoor seating. Most of the seating inside is at the bar, with additional tables outside under some shade. Because of that, it's probably not my first choice for sitting down for lunch during a hot Houston day, but it works really well as a pickup or takeout spot. The staff has always been friendly, and they have a good system for getting people in and out. The parking lot is a little small, but since a lot of people seem to be picking up food, spots turn over pretty quickly. Overall, The Rice Box is convenient, dependable, and does what it does well. It definitely feels like a chain, but the design has a strong personality and the food is consistently good. It's not my favorite Chinese food in the Heights, but I've never had a bad experience here. And the lava buns are absolutely worth getting.

Dry Fried Green Beans 5/5- these are the best green beans I have had in my life! I am not exaggerating like I will be thinking about these green beans all week. Do not hesitate to try these. Perfectly salty and good amount of crunch still left. The flavors they used are just perfect. Colorful Beef 4/5- The texture of the beef was so tender and not chewy at all like other places. The flavor was bright and the bell peppers were cooked through well. The issue I had with this dish was the sichuan peppercorns. I was just eating and not really looking at it super closely so I got a mouth full of these peppercorns and wow it was actually horrible. Just beware because the texture of these things are god awful and I think that they should be taken out like how a bay leaf is removed before serving. It was just really intense and it almost ruined the dish for me honestly. Other than that a great dish. My mouth was so numb but worth it. Dandan noodles 2/5- This was my first time trying this dish anywhere and I did not really enjoy it at all. The sesame flavor was really strong and it wasn't really salted at all. Very strange flavor. I will not order this again, however I do believe that the execution on this dish is great. There was a lot of sauce and the noodles were cooked well. I just really wish I liked the flavor of this dish and that's a personal problem. This dish also made my mouth numb but the flavor did not make it worth it. I wanted to like these so badly but I just couldn't do it. I will be back!

The portion of noodles and beef was generous, but I thought the broth lacked depth and had far too much chili oil. Instead of providing a pleasant spice, the excess oil left a greasy coating in my throat that actually made me cough. The other dishes were less impressive. The Pork Bao tasted like they had been frozen and reheated, with slightly soggy, overcooked buns and a filling that lacked flavor. The Egg Rolls were also extremely small and had that same frozen, store-bought quality. Overall, the service was great and there were a few solid dishes, especially the chicken dumplings, but too many of the items tasted like frozen or pre-prepared food. I would come back for the dumplings, but I would probably skip most of the other dishes.
