I bought an inexpensive miniPC ... and it proved to be one of those cases of "you get what you pay for" ..Nothing but trouble. After buying an SSD, another OS license, and running into a networking adapter issue .. all within a short time following purchase, the unit started to overheat and would no longer boot. Realized that my best bet would be to get a solid estimate, make a credit card warranty claim and then buy a "real" computer from a more reputable place.. Enter XTECH's. The person who helped me was Andrew, and he was extremely helpful. As he wrote up his estimate, it was obvious that this is a great place to get a computer repaired, or to purchase reconditioned computer. Very competitive labor rates, and they do not gouge the customer for inexpensive supplies like thermal paste. I have worked my whole career in high tech, so I think I have a good sense for who the good guys are, and who to avoid. These ARE the good guys! They will take good care of you. read more

very poor service. sold me a used 6 year old computer to replace the 6 year old cumputer i took in for repair. the unit i boujght would not work for more than 24 hrs. and i must have wired it to the wall wrong. geek squad came to my house and found the wiring to the wall ok but audieo and video were backwards. it still would not work for more than 48 hrs. i was charged more money every time it quit. i would not recommend them to anybody. zero stars read more

David was able to diagnose and replace my AIO 240 mm cooler. Service took one day, not only did it resolve my problems, The new cooler produced unexpected performance. I highly recommend this company if you're in need of hardware, updates or replacements. While they might not have the hardware in stock, if you bring it in, they will install it for an incredibly fair price. read more

My laptop died. I brought it here right when they opened at 9 AM. Was helped by a nice, friendly gentleman named Trevor. He told me it may take 24-48 hours to diagnose, but that it'd probably be faster. He called me about 4 hours later. My problem was solved. Pricing is fair. Trevor was my hero of the day! read more

I so lucked out going here, I had been to two other places with a broken laptop screen. The technician did diagnostic work then had a used screen that would fit my laptop and had it done the next morning for way less than I had planned on paying. He had good instincts, was honest, and fair. My next plan had been shipping it for repairs which would've taken a long time and cost a lot. I took my wifes computer to them 6 months ago and they fixed an account login issue she was having, it had the same exact problem again so I took it back and paid them to fix it. The person cashing me out was on the phone the whole time, so after I paid I patiently stood there, he looked at me like "what do you want", told him I would like to ask a question, huffy puffy he put his call on hold and I asked what is causing the issue and what can we do to keep it from happening again...I was basically told he was too busy, then he blurted it could be the hard drive or a virus..., well due to his poor customer service and overall rudeness, we will just say I will NEVER go back there, or recommend anyone to them again...guess if they are too busy to answer a question after I just paid you 99.00 to fix my issue, you're too busy to fix my computer again in the future. I won't mention the fact that I we were never given any paperwork when we dropped it off, never given a phone call with a repair quote, were never given any follow up of any kind until I called and found out that it was fixed and sitting on the counter.... I guess you pay for what you get and for 99 bucks, you get to take it back in 6 months to get fixed again. read more

We had a laptop that was running slow, bugged out and generally abused by our two boys. We asked Nik to take a look at it and let us know if it was better to buy a new one or fix the old one since it was four years old and at the end of what we thought was its life. Nik cleaned up the laptop and did a few things to speed it up, start faster and run better. The difference was amazing! Super honest and he had a few suggestions that were very reasonable. So far we've gotten another years worth of use out of a laptop I would have replaced. It's one thing to fix something temporarily, but to have a now five old laptop running as well as a brand new laptop is pretty amazing to me. I haven't had to do anything since that repair a year ago. Really honest shop, great work and fair prices. read more

AFTER After the review they offered a refund. BEFORE Use someone else. They did no work took $45 dollar down payment and refused to refund it like it takes more than 5 minutes to pull a laptop apart. On top of that they put a couple of nics into the laptop, because clearly they dont know how to take them apart. Samsung Laptop NP680zpe Job was to replace a keyboard on a laptop that requires a small soldering iron and i was clear ahead of time about what needed to be done. The next day i get a call saying he cant do it, because its a non replaceable keyboard, and no refund (IF IT'S NOT replacable why does Samsung have a part number for it and sell replacement parts, Also there are video instructions online on how to do it) i just didn't want to buy the tools, and use them only once, now it turns out i might as well have, instead of paying these guys 45 dollars to damage my laptop case, because they dont know how to take apart a laptop. read more

Xtechs have helped us with a number of computer issues. This last one, I was so impressed that they were able to fix it. My imac was having some issues. I called Apple and they had two of their technicians trying to resolve the issue. They finally said that they would submit my ticket to someone higher up. I didn't really feel like it was going to get fixed very quickly. Then I called Xtechs. I got my computer into their shop just after 5PM. I told them that I would be super impressed if they were able to fix it, but not disappointed if they couldn't because Apple didn't seem to be able to. They called me the next day at 2PM and said my computer was ready. I picked it up and the problem was resolved. He showed me how it was fixed and then also showed me what to look for in the future. They did great work- fast, honest, and at a super great price. I would definitely recommend them. read more

I have lived a lot of places in my life and so naturally, I've done business with a lot of different people. In fact, I have found that one of the best ways to get to know the people who live and work in the same local area I was in was by using/supporting local small business owners. Living in Orangevale has been no exception to my life long habit, so when I moved here several years ago, I started buying services and goods from local Orangevale business owners whenever possible. I buy grocery's, get my tires fixed, get a hair cut, buy most of my gas, eat at restaurants and, that's right... I get my computers fixed, all here in Orangevale. I was sorry and a little confused to read Eric D's experience with X-techs Computer Repair however, because after I found Robert in 2008, I have never felt the need to go anywhere else. Our family (plus my wife's business) has four computers and when any of these machines starts giving trouble I take it to Robert at X-Techs and it always came back "running like a top". Robert always took good care of me and was genuinely concerned that I was happy with my machine and that I understood what was going on with it. When Robert first brought Nik on-board, I will admit I felt a little reluctant because, well, I was used to working with Robert and I just simply did not know Nik yet. We all know it can take time to build trust, but it did not take long before I found Nik to be super helpful and no less concerned for my satisfaction with my machine. And like Robert, Nik always gives me the lowdown on what he found wrong. And depending on circumstances, he may even have advice on how to avoid a repeat problem. I have always found both Nik and Robert to be very personable and very honest. And I have always been very satisfied with my computers upon return from either of them. I too have had a couple password issues over the years and it is definitely very frustrating, yet as "euphoric" as it may sound, I never had a bad experience with any of the work that Nik or Robert have ever done for me over these past 6 years. Maybe it's a two-way street and I'm just good at helping them help me, but the fact is I've always felt very comfortable recommending them whenever I come across someone who is having trouble getting their own machine fixed elsewhere. In essence, I would like to ask Eric to consider that all of us have bad days at times, and that later, we may reflect that we could have done better. I'd like him to realize that the first time he took his wife's machine to Xtechs, it came back fixed. If it had the same or similar problem six months later, it likely had nothing to do with the first repair. To end, I would like to ask everyone else to consider that this may be a case where both customer and business suffered a bad day simultaneously and with this idea in mind, I am graciously asking Eric D to take a chance and walk back into Xtechs to receive the olive branch they undoubtedly have waiting.
