I had an issue with my desktop PC rebooting frequently on its own and brought it in to the Rocklin location to figure it out. I left the PC with Mike to troubleshoot and narrow down the issue. Mike was very professional and was clear in communicating the different solutions that could be used as well as the associated costs. Unfortunately, it was determined that the problem would not be solved without extensive work to the PC, which then had me looking for a new machine. While I didn't use any specific Tech 2U services, I do appreciate their up front and professional nature and their help in narrowing down the issues with the PC. Chad was AWSome! I'm actually in the tech industry, more hardware than software and had an embarrassing question on one of my browsers I heavily use called Brave. The Brave browser is known for keeping out or limiting Ad blocks and I've been using it for over a decade never really running into anyone else using it. After my trip to France, www.google.com was redirecting to southwest wifi link and I thought I had a severe malware issue since I recently had identity theft occur the previous week. I needed Windows 11 added to my laptop and had no idea how to do it myself. A friend recommended Tech2u and the rest is history! When I called and asked how to do this Kevin signed me up for a next-morning appointment. At the given time Will called and explained how the remote computer work would be done. I opened my laptop, completed a couple of short forms, gave permission for the work, and went about living my life. By mid-afternoon everything was completed, my laptop was in perfect condition and it had Windows 11 on it. Everything worked perfectly. All this for a very reasonable price. I hired them to come to my home and fix about 8 major things on my 5 week old Mac Book Pro. It needed no repairs but I needed some strong computer technicians help to solve some problems. I was quoted their price thinking I would be getting some real professional help. I was charged $370.00 and here is what he accomplished. Set up 2 emails with 2 factor authorization. So the other 8 or so accounts I still do not know how to use. He synced my 4 Apple products, he set up an outlook email, Which I could easily have done myself and he got codes which I took a picture of for 2 factor authorization, which I still have no idea how to set up. Lastly he got rid of a malware issue with an application called AV. I did ask what qualified him to work on peoples computers and he stated 8 years of experience. Well in that case I put my business on a computer in the mid 80s so what qualifies his expertise? I have agreed to pay $100. for the minor items he did on my computer. His boss volunteered for them to return and help me out but the trust and their expertise is very much A HARD NO.. I hired them in good faith and was once taken for a ride. Tech2U sent Tyler, one of their technicians, to set up my new computer. It required a great deal of transferring of data in addition to connecting the computer to a printer and phone service. Horrible experience with Michael. From the beginning he had a negative demeanor. I was bringing a computer to them that they built that they repaired before. Last time a guy came out to the car with a cart to help carry it in. This time Michael refused flat out to help with a cart or even to help me carry it in. He claimed he could not "leave the building " even though the back door opens to the spot where my car was. Clearly not interested in having or helping a customer. I brought in my laptop, couldn't put my headphones in the jack, couldn't see anything in the jack. They confirmed there was something in the jack, but they couldn't get it out. Didn't charge me any money and advised that I might go across the street to phone fix store, who was able to get debris out of my headphones jack. Have been to this Tech 2u for several needs and have never been disappointed. Recently brought in my Alienware laptop after the batter failed after about 4-5 years. Chad was friendly and very helpful from the beginning. Chad explained he had experience with batteries and that he would find a 3rd party replacement as Dell didn't make the part anymore. He kept us updated over the 2 week period and was able to find a replacement battery! Once installed, he explained he did several tests to make sure the laptop performed properly before me taking it home. All in all, I'm very happy with the service and time Chad took with my laptop. The free remote consultation to troubleshoot BSOD (irql_not_less_or_equal) errors was very beneficial. I ended up fixing it myself, but Jeff brought a crucial thing to my attention: A hot processor. I found out myself that I needed thermal paste and an updated processor driver because only 1 core was taking on a 50% load. Jeff was very nice and set good expectations for the call. His speed while being thorough was excellent, and he did a good job following up. Several days ago I had a serious desktop PC problem that irreparably altered my existing CPU registry, making it impossible to access the unit's software and/or successfully boot the PC. I do a lot of writing and my desktop, running WIN 10, is therefore vitally important to me in pursuance of my work. I called TECH-2U to apprise them of the problem and requested an immediate on-site visit to rectify the problem and restore my system. They responded very quickly and soon I had scheduled a visit from one of their techs (named William T.) who immediately began a diagnostic on my malfunctioning desktop. Will's report was that the desktop unit would have to be taken in to their shop for the necessary resolution of the problem (which involved saving my data files and downloading a fresh copy of the WIN 10 program software). After several days I received my desktop back from Will and it was once more set up in my study. It has thus far operated flawlessly and gives absolutely no indication of any residual difficulties whatsoever. TECH-2U's communications with me were all extremely professional and technically astute, meeting, in my opinion, a high level of standards for consumer PC repair and maintenance. My tech (Will T.) was excellent, extremely competent and highly skilled, from my observations, and I was very pleased with his services. If my experience with TECH-2U is any indication of the ordinary, day-to-day level of service one can expect from TECH-2U, I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone experiencing a similarly perplexing problem with their PC. Finally, the cost of my work, from start to finish (including several days in the shop), was quite reasonable, given the level of work undertaken on it. Again, TECH-2U gets high marks in my book! My hp laptop screen was cracked and needed to be replaced so I decided to use Tech 2u for the repair. On the phone I requested a quote for the replacement; I gave all of the details & specs to my laptop, and the guy on the line said the labor to fix my laptop screen was around $80; but when I went in the store, the labor cost shot up to $260, and I also had to pay the fee of the new screen at $170, with no alternatives offered. I was oblivious to the situation at the time, and hesitant to give my password to Tech2u when they asked, but I gave in anyway. -------------------------------------------------------- I had asked my IT friend if it was procedure for them to ask for my computer's password, since only the screen needed to be fixed, and he said that if they wanted to test my device, they can simply boot until my Windows login screen, and that should be good enough. So that made me feel weary. I did some research online after I had dropped my laptop off and realized that the screen they are using to replace it was under $50. I was pissed & felt scammed, having my laptop serviced at $430 when it's probably not even worth that now. The next day, I immediately went back into their store and asked to decline all services, since they still hadn't ordered the screen to begin with. The man that spoke to me said that since they kept my laptop overnight, it would be a $50 fee. They wouldn't even let me hold my laptop until I paid the fee. I called my dad to come down to the store since he is also in IT. I built a gaming PC years ago. Great rig, but a while back it started randomly restarting. I'm smart enough to diagnose a problem, but I lack the parts to swap out. I eventually got to the point where I just wanted the thing to work. I visited Tech2U and dropped off my machine. The tech talked to me at length and explained how they operate. He told me the diagnostic was free and what they'd likely do. He even told me what he thought were the most likely culprits. I have him the go-ahead. It wound up being the power supply. This wasn't a likely culprit, but it was the least expensive possibility. T2U replaced it (after consulting me), and put in a rather high quality one but certainly didn't gouge me on the price. The tech showed off his changes and... damn if he didn't do a FINE job on cable management. Most importantly, his fix appears to have done the job. My rig is finally able to play all the games I haven't been able to play for... four or five years now. Good job, Tech 2U! read more
