Erik and his company, Damn Computer Repair, are awesome! I was having some trouble with my WiFi dropping as well as a gnarly grinding noise from my laptop. I called Erik and he spent time on the phone with me to diagnose the issue without even asking for payment. Eventually, we believed we knew the fix, ordered parts, and set up to drop my laptop off with him as soon as the parts came. Erik was super flexible and I was able to drop off my laptop on a Saturday. He called me shortly after and it turned out the repair was a less expensive part that ended up saving me $90. He ordered the new part and had the computer repaired within two hours of it arriving. I was able to pick up my laptop the next day, during the 49ers playoff game (Erik is an avid football fan!), and I was ready to use my computer for work before Monday. So I had a computer problem with my laptop I use for work; it seems that my hard drive crashed I got the fatal blue screen of death. I contacted Erik and left a voicemail he got back to me within 30 minutes. I took my computer to him, he gave me a price estimate for the repair. He called me back within 30 minutes from dropping off the computer with the diagnosis. The hard drive had to be replaced and within 24 hours I was able to pick up the computer with the replaced hard drive. Overall the computer was actually working better after he replaced the hard drive then when I purchased brand new 18 months earlier. The overall performance was noticeably better and the system was a lot faster. I called Erik and asked for a tune-up as we have several times in the past. Our computer has been getting real slow at start-up and lacking responsiveness. He conducted a diagnosis over the telephone, did a little clean-up and said that it really didn't need a tune-up, and there was no charge. He said our hard disk drive (HDDs) was outdated, and he suggested if I wanted better speed and a cooler operation we should upgrade to a solid state drive (SSD). The price was very reasonable, and as usual, Erik was right. I brought it in on Monday morning, expecting to pick-it-up on Tuesday; instead, it was done Monday afternoon. Wow. I have been putting off getting a spare computer repaired for a while. Windows 10 had updated on my laptop and turned it into an expensive door stop. I bought a new custom built computer so needed to ensure the O/S, applications and drivers were all loaded properly. Eric came by and completed all the tasks in a surprisingly short time. Unfortunately about a week later the power supply failed. Eric suggested that instead of having them send me a new computer, to have them send me one without the hard drive, but exactly the same hardware configuration. Once it arrived all I needed to do was have Eric swap the hard drive from the first computer into the second and then return the first with the failed power supply. Great idea by Eric which saved a lot of time and money (no need to re-install all the software or new drivers). I'm a retired systems analyst and although I worked in a mainframe environment, I can tell a knowledgeable tech when I find one. I'll be calling Eric again in the future. read more
