This was not a cheap date night. However, it was a heck of a lot of fun. We putted for an hour and then moved on to the golf simulator for 2 hours. We had a blast. The games were fun and challenging and the bartender made some excellent drinks. The owners did a great job of updating the bathrooms and refreshing this establishment. We did not enjoy the pool hall that occupied this space before X-Golf, so this is a really nice upgrade. Much better than freezing outside at Top Golf.

Sitting at the bar, you can see there's plenty of seating, very clean

Great Wing spot in Frederick!…read more We ordered the Wing bucket which includes 50 wings with five different sauce options for $70. They have a special if you arrive before six the bucket is only $50. We sampled jerk, honey old Bay, Thai chili, mango habanero, and honey barbecue. The jerk didn't really taste like jerk to us. I also probably wouldn't get the honey old bay next time. Service was friendly. They offer inside, outside and a big bar area. Plenty of parking near the mall.

Who knew Anchor was is in Frederick? We didn't. My wife, a Buffalonian born and raised and we've both been to the original Anchor Bar in Buffalo dozens of times so we had to check this location out. In the door we noticed the place was clean and had a very warm and cozy vibe but had a sports bar atmosphere with plenty on TV's to watch a sport of your choice. The staff was super friendly and the menu has all your favorites. Our server was Nicole who was actually amazing in every way, very sweet and attentive to whatever we wanted. We ordered a small pizza, The special which was ribs and a side, we chose Cole Slaw and of course wings (Original). The pizza was very good, had Cup n Char Pepperoni which is what I expect from a Buffalo bar/resteraunt. The only thing is it could have stayed on the brick another minute or so to crisp up the bottom more. The Ribs were dynamite, perfectly cooked with a slight char on the bottom. They were fall off the bone with an amazing smoke flavor. The Cole Slaw was awesomeness as its how we like it, sweet and creamy. Now, drum roll, the wings, cooked wonderfully to be juicy and saucy but...yes but, could have been a little crispier but, they were great. We live 50 minutes away and will travel to come back. Great job.

I went to a Meetup group hike on the border of Washington & Frederick County, and I met up with a friend, who later became a girlfriend. She drove us from North Bethesda where I met her. This was a long hike, and we were all worn out. The organizer of the Meetup said let's go to BJ's in Frederick on the way back to Montgomery County (where his Meetup group was based). I was looking forward to getting the pizza I enjoyed at BJ's Tysons 5 years earlier. Service was decent as I recall, but the pizza was smaller than I remembered and didn't taste as good. It wasn't bad, but it was kind of small for the price; so overall I was kind of disappointed. It was also a bit dark inside the restaurant, which I like getting a nice view of my food. This Meetup group did a variety of activities but often walks & hikes. It was an introvert Meetup. I'm more of an ambivert meaning I'm sometimes extrovert but other times can be an introvert. My friend is a total extrovert and was loud & boisterous at lunch. I don't think the organizer of the Meetup took too kindly to her. Then, that friend became a girlfriend, and I took her to another of his Meetup for games in August 2019 for games in the park. Organizer seemed disappointed in me (even though I wasn't particularly close with him) when I introduced her as my girlfriend as he remembered her from hike & BJ's. It was kind of an ongoing joke with us how he didn't like her. Maybe one of these days, I'll go back to BJ's; there's a location close to me in Laurel, but I'd get something other than the pizza.

We went at 4:30pm on a Sunday night when it wasn't too busy. Our waiter was very nice and came frequently to our table to check on us and asking if we needed anything. You can also make reservations online. Since the restaurant is located in a mountain area, I had no reception or internet. All the dishes we had were pretty good. They start you with warm complementary bread with butter. The filet mignon was our favorite dish with soft meat and mashed potatoes. The sauce was a little sour to complement the meat. The linguini in the seafood linguine was cooked soft so it's good for little kids, but if you would like it more al dente, you'll probably have to let them know. There were 3 mussels, 2 scallops and several shrimp all cooked well. The green beans were cooked so they were still crunchy. Some of mine were a bit too undercooked for me. There as a good amount of meat in the veal and pork bolognese over pappardelle. The noodle were cooked well and long. The Maryland crab soup was part of the daily dinner special. Wish there was more crab in the Maryland crab soup since I saw a lot of vegetables. It was pretty spicy which wasn't noted on the menu. The crème brûlée was cooked very well. Crispy sugar top and creamy inside.

While the garlic sauce was generous and delicious, the quality of the mussels themselves was disappointing. They were all open, but they had that "off" taste associated with older seafood. * The Main: Things turned around completely with the pork tenderloin. It was cooked perfectly and paired with a very flavorful sauce. Highly recommended! * The Dessert: Finished with the coconut cake. It was incredibly moist--perhaps a touch too sweet for my personal preference, but tasty enough that I'd definitely order it again. Overall, a great find with just a minor hiccup on the seafood. We'll be back!

I arrived at White Rabbit Gastropub around 1:45pm on a beautiful mid-June Saturday for a solo…read moreadventure lunch. I had driven two hours and was hungry, but I was also committed to making good decisions. Or at least mostly good decisions... The hostess offered me a seat at the second-floor bar rather than the quoted 25-30 minute wait. Great! Solo diners love surprise upgrades. Unfortunately, when I got upstairs, the one "available" seat had apparently been claimed by a diaper bag and a giant straw sunhat belonging to the woman sitting next to it holding a too-little-to-walk baby sitting at the bar. Uhhh...this isn't going to work. Back downstairs I went. I gave them my name and number, found a shady spot outside, and settled in for what I assumed would be a long wait. Five minutes later, my table was ready. Thank you, Universe! My server greeted me with water immediately, explained the QR code menu situation, and told me not to order through the app because she'd be right back. No worries, friend. I'd already done my homework. I knew exactly what I wanted. One Martha Stewart's Prison Pizza ($22), please. (Sausage, broccoli, ricotta, Calabrian chili peppers, lemon oil, and sea salt.) I asked for the chili peppers on the side because I know myself. I like adventure. I don't enjoy possibly setting my mouth on fire. And a Diet Pepsi ($3.50), because balance. While I waited, I people-watched, which is one of my favorite hobbies. White Rabbit was PACKED. The patio was full. The downstairs bar was full. Upstairs was full. Couples, groups of girlfriends, older folks, younger folks, families, solo diners...everyone seemed happy to be there. The place itself is pretty small, which explains the wait. Six tables downstairs, maybe eight bar seats, more seating upstairs, and a constant dance of servers carrying food through the same front door customers use. Add the "please wait to be seated" crowd gathering in the narrow hallway and I'd describe things as organized chaos. But once I was seated, I was perfectly comfortable and out of the traffic pattern. One cool touch I noticed: outlets and USB ports built right into the front of the bar. Maybe that's common and I've somehow missed it all these years, but I thought it was pretty neat. Then my pizza arrived. Oh good lawd. OH. GOOD. LAWD. This pizza was SO GOOD! I knew from the first bite that I was in trouble. There was no sauce, which surprised me at first, but after approximately three seconds I no longer cared. The sausage was plentiful. The broccoli added texture. The ricotta was creamy and rich. And that lemon oil?! That lemon oil set it off! Everything just worked together perfectly. The Calabrian peppers arrived on the side exactly as requested. I bravely sampled a very small amount on my fork before desecrating my pizza and quickly determined that folks with stronger heat tolerance than me will absolutely love them. They were just a little too spicy for my delicate tastebuds. Thankfully, the pizza was incredible without them. And those slices? MONSTERS. I ate one and seriously contemplated a second before reminding myself that I had dessert plans elsewhere. A box was requested. Self-control was exercised. Barely. As a solo diner, I also want to give White Rabbit extra points. Multiple staff members checked on me throughout the meal. I never felt forgotten, rushed, or weird sitting by myself. Everyone was warm, kind, and made me feel completely comfortable. I really appreciated that. My total bill came to $32.44 including tip which felt really reasonable given the amount of pizza I consumed and brought home. Worth every penny. I'm already scheming my next two-hour drive back. Maybe a smashburger. Maybe those Brussels sprouts everyone keeps raving about. Maybe another pizza. Maybe all of it! I highly recommend checking out White Rabbit. Make it a destination, not just a stop while you're in the area. Don't let the size of the place or the wait scare you off. It's totally worth it. PRO TIP: If you park in the Church Street Parking Garage, look for the staircase labeled "STAIR 3." White Rabbit is literally right outside the door at the bottom. No hide-and-seek required!

All of their pizzas look really unique. Table next to us got the one with a lot of pepperoni on it and it looked very good too. I reccomend parking at the Church Street Garage to access the restaurant as it's sort of hard to find parking. Interior was quaint and conservative and our waitress was amazing and very sweet.
