I went this week for my first mani/pedi since the reopened after COVID closures. They took our temperature, had us sign releases, had us wash our hands right away. Everyone had masks (clients and staff) and there were plexiglass dividers at stations. They also kept the occupant below 50%. I felt very safe and their already impeccable cleaning practices were amplified with small changes like paper towels, no more parafin dips, and hand sanitizer readily available. 3.5- This was such a hard review to write. The actual manicure was like a 3.5-4. My manicurist was so nice. But end result is like a 2. This was my first dip manicure. I didn't realize how different the color would be from the swatch. I wanted an opaque, super pale, borderline white pink. I thought that's what I picked out. After the first dip the manicurist said it might be too pale? I thought she meant too sheer so I went with her recommendation for a slightly darker color. I didn't like it. I could tell I wasn't going to like it. She switched back to what I picked but by the time she was putting the last coat on I knew I wouldn't like it. She offered to do a layer of gel over the top. She tried that but it didn't look right so I just had her leave it. I basically paid $45 for a pink the color of my skin and practically sheer. You cant really tell I'm wearing polish unless you look hard. I'm disappointed because this is gonna last me a while. Short of getting it taken off and starting over I dont think there's anything I can do. I'm not happy with my manicure but I liked the place. I just probably won't get dip again and/or I'll be very very very specific about my color choice. read more

As I'm sitting here writing this review I regretted coming here I booked an appointment for six got here picked out my color and sat for about 15 mins before they had a chair open for a pedicure. She gets started water is a nice temperature I requested the spa pedicure with green tea. she removed my nail polish cut my nails scrubbed the tea on for about 2 minutes rinsed it off slabbed the lotion on wrapped a hot towel around my leg and walked away came back after 10 mins and wiped off the lotion with the towel and started painting my nails. My gel manicure has started lifting, today day 5 after getting them done. I knew when the tech told me to remove my hands from the UV light when they were cured for less than 30 seconds after each coat that this manicure would not last. I even tried leaving my hands in there longer but she would just motion my hands over so she could put on another coat. The gel manicure took about 20 minutes and I was out the door. I had really high expectations for this place, as it was recommended by a lot of my coworkers. Unfortunately, it did not go as I had hoped. I booked an appointment for my friend and I, and they took us right when they got there, so there's that at least. My nail technician was Annie, and I had heard good things about her so I felt pretty good before she started. Everything was okay until she picked the wrong chrome color- she chose orange when I wanted rose gold- and she told me it would be a $10 up-charge. I was okay with that as long as it looked good, but in reality it was horribly executed and the nails were splotchy and rushed. What really freaked me out is when she used the drill on my skin!! It tore up my cuticles so badly and every time I put them in water for the next couple days they burned like crazy. Another thing that was just terrible about this nail salon was the cleanliness. It was just ridiculously DIRTY. They don't clean there implements, which is a huge no no. My manicure didn't last either. The chrome literally peeled off within 3 days. I have lived in northern Virginia for almost my whole life, and when I began getting gel manicures, I had a really hard time finding a salon that had market prices and was consistently good. This place has all of it! I made an appointment the first time I went, and I was sat immediately and given Kim, a great tech, but I didn't feel that making an appointment was necessary as others coming in were also sat quickly. I also got an eyebrow wax by Kim that was SUPER fast and well-done. My second time, I didn't make an appointment and when I got there, it wasn't super busy so I was sat immediately then as well. My tech was different, but she still did an amazing job. My standards are not SUPER high since I know gel manicures can be difficult, but the service I get here is really good and my manicure really lasts the full two weeks and still isn't really peeling. The salon also offers you a drink while you wait, if you have to wait at all. And the paraffin wax treatment doesn't hurt either :) Compared to other salons in the area, I highly recommend Worldgate for both service and talent! read more

I've been coming to Worldgate Nails for 4 years now. I see either Ratha, CiCi or Amy regularly for pedicures, manicures, and gel manicures. It does help to make an appointment, as the shop is typically busy (but well-staffed and efficient), but you don't have to have one. Ratha is a sweetheart and engaging and fun to talk to. She and Amy give the best manicures, in my opinion. Really detail-oriented, especially with gel manis and add-ons like rhinestones or glitter if that's your thing. Ratha gives a great hand/arm massage, too. CiCi always does a great job with my pedicures and takes her time with the massage. Love the hot towel and the fact that they don't use the creepy skin peelers here. Manicures include a paraffin wax treatment, which I enjoy. I pay $25 for a regular pedicure, and $33 for a gel manicure. When it's time to get that gel/shellac removed, I've had no problem with them wrapping my nails in foil and the acetone cotton ball (my preference) as opposed to me sitting there with my hands soaking away in a bowl of acetone. Just be assertive if they try to take the easy way (bowl) out. Nice shop, new pedicure chairs, tons of color choices, clean equipment, clean bathroom, complimentary soda/water, constant staff (no turnover), easy parking in shopping center. read more

I went in for an acrylic fill and was seen by Amy. She told me my nails were old and needed to be replaced. It took a few minutes of discussion where she told me I needed it, then offered to just replace some for $5 off- it was confusing. The nail removal was pretty painful. She kept making comments about how easily they were coming off-which was true for about 2-but it took multiple tools and pain to get the rest off. The cuticle trimmer also did not come out of a sterile bag and was placed back in the drawer after being used on me. I was offered water part way through which was nice. In the end the remnants of my old polish are still on and are visible which doesn't make me happy. I was charged $28, the price for a full set because she took the old nails off- I wasn't expecting that but whatever! It wasn't the worst service I've received, but I prefer my usual place- Expose in sterling. I don't think I'll be back here. read more

I have been coming to this salon off and on for several years now and have been pretty pleased with their consistency. I prefer to have CiCi or Michelle. However, everyone one I have interacted with has been polite and professional and their pricing is about on par for the location. They are happy to accommodate with designs and don't push the extended services if you mention you are short on time (which is often the case with me as I go after work). I will note that they get VERY busy and even with an appointment (which I would highly recommend having) when they are slammed I have sometimes felt rushed and have noticed the quality of work go down slightly. read more

I was in a bind and needed my Shellac mani done today. I was at four weeks since my last manicure and my nails were suffering. I did a quick read of the reviews and was torn, but I thought I'd give it a try. I called ahead and was told to come on by because they weren't busy at the moment. I walked in, recapped of the call I'd just made, and then took a seat at Jenny's station. She quickly started working on my nails, offered me a water, and made sure that I was happy as we went along. I thought that Jenny did a nice job but it did seem to take a little longer than I'm used to and was a bit higher in price as well. (This visit took just over an hour.)
