First, we had an appointment and waited an hour to be seen. Second, we got dip powder nails one with regular nails and one with glued on tips, supposed to last 2-4 weeks. They lasted one week. Completely chipped on one of us and all nails completely came off on another after just 5 days. We would not recommend this place; although my pedicure was quite good. Still not worth being there for 3 hours. Their time management is not good and perhaps their technique or dip powder is old. My guess is both, as my dip nails are so thick . Never paid $200 for nails to last less than one week. They typically last 3-4. I called them and asked how long they should last before I mentioned how long ours lasted and was told 2-3 weeks. Then when I told her both of ours lasted less than one, I was told it was our nails that were the problem, even though I've been getting nails done for 30 years and they always last weeks. A regular manicure would've been the same lasting time, but much less expensive and much less time consuming. We agree to pay more for higher quality, longer lasting nails and we did NOT get what we paid for. Will not be returning and now I have to pay even more money to have them fixed. Not cool. read more

I love this hidden gem!!! I always leave happy and feeling beautiful! I've brought many friends here and each one has agreed that this place is awesome. The classic spa pedicure is AMAZING- comes with extra scrubs, leg masques, hot towel wraps, paraffin wax, and a 15 minute oil massage on top of everything else included in the pedi service. Manicures are always spot on- I love that they do such a great job painting and they have a ton of colors to choose from (gel and regular). The whole aroma of the salon is clean, relaxing and fun. I called 15 minutes for a pedicure before coming. When I got in, there were two nail techs and no customers but me. I was told to find a nail color by one technician, the other tech was on the phone. I took my time choosing my color... then a new customer walked in, white mid-40's looking lady and didn't call in. Well, the nail tech kinda blew me off and then ended up catering to her (the other nail tech was still on the phone). I thought, well maybe the other tech is going to do my pedicure--no big deal. I was told to sit in station 1, and that other lady who left me turned on my water and told me "just a few minutes". I was waiting for the other lady to get off the phone--she didn't. Then a different nail tech walks in and 10 minutes later she ends up on my station setting me up. I'm mad because I called first, and I was there first. I am Asian, too, but was left hanging. Honestly felt a little racism/classism going on. Whatever the case may be, I won't be coming back. Plus the other nail tech that ended up doing my pedicure felt like she rushed it. I asked for the classic spa, too. Oh well. Lessons learned. Two stars for decent looking toes. Service sucked though. read more

I've been in the NOVA area for about 5 years. I've tried SEVERAL nail salons only to be disappointed by the quality, wait time, or how long the polish lasts. I've been going to Nail Design for 2 years and I WILL NOT go anywhere else. The staff is nice, the facility is clean, and I ALWAYS love how my nails turn out (I'm constantly getting complemented on them). I get gel polish on my natural nails and they last 3-4 weeks. I only entrust my nails to Tee...SHE'S AMAZING! I get a gel manicure and can be in and out in 45 mins to an hour. I always make an appointment and never have to wait longer than 5 mins, but 9 times out of 10 she starts as soon as I walk in the door. I really like this salon. I've lived in Ashburn for about 8 months and have probably been to all if the nail salons in the area. I started going to this place about 2 months ago and have not yet been disappointed. Their spa pedicure is amazing, they do a 15 minute massage. It is a very relaxing atmosphere and all the women who have done my nails so far have been great. The pricing is average for the area. I paid $35 for a shellac French manicure. The woman did an awesome job keeping them as natural looking as possible. I recommend this place. I have always gone without an appointment, but obviously make one if you want a specific person (I am bad as I never remember names) or go during high traffic times. Oh and you cannot put a tip on your credit card. They have an ATM in the lobby for your convenience, so have some cash on you. read more

I've been coming to this place since 2016 and I think their service is great but unfortunately I'm not sure on how well they clean their feet tubs anymore. I went in today and was told to take a seat and have my feet in a soaking tub that had some skin shavings. It was pretty visible and not something that could be missed. I told them to clean and the next thing I knew, another lady comes over to "wipe" it with a damp towel yet still leaving behind the skin shavings. Totally gross. I had to tell.them again and only then did they use some disinfectant spray and a brillo pad to clean it well this time. I imagine this nail salon is good for customers that are able to connect with one tech and frequent the salon - continually give someone business. I've been going 5-6 times a year for approximately 4 years, for 2-3 services per visit. I typically have an ok/decent experience, but the bad experiences are just piling too high. My toe has been cut and infected, a tech started to give me acrylic nails instead of the simple manicure I requested, I've had to excuse myself from a polish during a pedicure because the tech was still struggling during her 3rd attempt to paint my toes and I just experienced a second, terrible eyebrow wax service. I specifically asked the technician not to change the shape of my eyebrows, not to take anything off the ends and not to thin my eyebrows. I visually showed her as well. She kept responding with, "clean them up". The tech started waxing the top and the bottom of my eyebrows at the same time, which I have never experienced . I told her I was uncomfortable, and she kept going. Fast forward to the results: eyebrows thinned, against explicit instructions, and she took 20% of the end of my right eyebrow off, again against explicit instructions. My eyebrows are completely lopsided. Additionally, during my waxing service, another tech walked in to the closed door room, and did not leave once she saw a service taking place. She stayed and waxed her face while I was on the table. I paid in full, plus left a nearly 20% tip, as I have with every single visit to this salon (ok or otherwise). However, this was the last straw, this was my last visit. read more

I wanted to give this place a chance, but I should have never come here to get my eyebrows done! The lady "cleaned up" my eyebrows by making one thinner and higher than the other one. I have never seen anyone mess up eyebrows this badly. There is no room to fix them because she made it so high up on my face. My eyebrows naturally curve and right now they look like a straight line. Fair warning to everyone, just go to the mall or your regular salon. I am appalled with what just happened to me. read more

My technician was on her phone the entire time and when trimming the skin and cuticles, she got too close and made me bleed -- which I didn't notice until after we left. Also, in the middle of my manicure, my technician stopped working on me and started working on the nails of a co-worker. Which I do not understand at all. It would be different if my nails were drying, but she wasn't done and another technician had to come and finish. I came across this salon when one that had been recommended couldn't fit me in. I walked in and was greeted pleasantly by the receptionist. They took me right away. I picked my color and went back to the pedicure chair. Nancy did my pedicure and gel manicure and was amazing! I got the spa pedicure which was a little more than their basic, but well worth it. Emergency "urgent care"visit and now on 10 day antibiotic. Photos submitted to the health department. Excruciating pain and awful infection with doctor incredibly concerned; recommending a health department submission immediately. I should have trusted my instinct. I wanted to try a new nail place in Ashburn, so I decided to go to Nail Design for a pedicure. This place is located near my favorite Mexican and sushi spot, so I went by one day (while I was grabbing sushi to go) to check their prices. When I walked in for a price check one of the technicians noticed me and spoke-- that is a plus right there because I hate walking into a nail salon or any place where I am not greeted! I asked how much was their pedicure and she told me $30. I didn't have time for a pedicure that day but I decided since I was greeted I would go back. I ended up going to get a pedicure that following Saturday morning and there was actually no wait. I was asked to choose my color while they prepared the pedicure chair. Once I chose a color, I went in the back and they got started. My technician did not really talk or say much. But their message chairs work really good and felt oh so good while I was getting my feet worked on. At one of my original nail spots a message of your legs generally comes with your pedicure--here they give you a really short 1 minute message and if you want a longer one you have to pay -- think it was $12. Umm nooo, that is ok. My technician also asked did i want the spa treatment with my pedicure, I told her no the basic was fine (I am not sure how much more that is). When she did place the oil on my leg for my short rub down it did irritate my skin and turned my leg red. My pedicure only lasted a week and now my paint has chipped really badly. I would expect for a $30 dollar pedicure that my color should last longer. I really would like to give them a 2.5 but we will round up in this case. read more

I came home with bleeding nails. I came here with my friends before homecoming and I have to say I had never had this happen to me before. The lady was super nice at first but as she was doing my nails she filed the WAY too short almost as if she was trying to make them even to the shortest nail. It hurt a lot but I didn't say anything because at that moment I couldn't see them and I thought it was normal because I Haven't had my nails done in like 4 years. Then when she was picking off my cuticles she picked it off WAY to much and it hurt. Then my nails started bleeding because she picked too much skin off and she STILL kept picking and filing my nails. Then when My mom told her this at the end she didn't say sorry she kept making excuses. :( never going back here again and my nails will thank me for it. Went in yesterday. The people who work there are polite and friendly, yes. I've been here a few times since it's right across the street from my house, but I try to avoid coming here as much as possible. I go in every time for the same thing. Full set. I forget who does my nails, but it seems they only have one person capable of doing a full set, as I went in yesterday and had to wait 20 minutes. There were other people working there just sitting around, but I guess they don't know how to do acrylic. I paid when I first walked in, so I couldn't just leave. While waiting I was never offered a magazine or anything, while they offered more than a few things to the woman next to me getting her feet scrubbed. I left to run home and get something since I was waiting anyway. Then when it was my turn, the woman doing my nails seemed like she was rushing. She was very sloppy and burned my finger tips multiple times while she was sanding my nails. She also got nail glue all over my fingers. I wouldn't go here by choice. So if you're coming here for a full set, try looking at other places. Also price is $30. And they seem to have only have a small range of colors. NOPE. I've been bouncing from nail salon to nail salon in search of a decent pedicure since moving to the area in 2014. If you look at my reviews of the other salons in Ashburn you will notice my biggest complaint is the lack of callus removal. Let me tell you ALL of the other salon's in the area do a better job than this place. Additionally, I saw no evidence that they clean their equipment between customers, or ever. And to top it off 9 out of 10 of my nails have bubbles in the polish. Total waist of time and money I would not recomend this slalon. read more
