I am utterly bewildered at how this shop is able to maintain such a high rating. My favorite nail shop closed during COVID and I was looking for a new local spot for myself and bridal party to have our nails done the week before my wedding earlier this month. The reviews seemed positive, so I called to book appointments for myself, my sister, sister-in-law (SIL), and mother - making sure to note that we were a bridal party.
When we arrived, I first noticed that we were not temperature checked or asked to sign in (despite there being a sign in sheet). Other patrons that came in during our appointments were also unceremoniously ushered around without being temperature checked or being asked to sanitize their hands. While there are barriers at each of the stations, they're clearly just window dressing.
The services themselves were also just... Unsatisfactory. My sister, SIL, and I all had some designs in mind - designs which I thought were very straightforward (having worked in a nail salon myself in the past, I felt confident these would be easily achieved). Oh BOY was I wrong.
My sister wanted a leaf design on one finger (see photos). After showing the image to her manicurist several times throughout her manicure and being told that it was possible, there was a complete 180 right at the end. I noticed the manicurist putting on top coat and interrupted to ask my sister if she still wanted a design. After saying yes, the manicurist looked at the picture for probably the fourth time and then said she couldn't do it! My sister left without getting what she wanted and there were no efforts made to correct the situation before we left.
A similar situation happened with my SIL - her design was by far the simplest of the three, but she walked out with poorly trimmed cuticles, one clearly visible cut, and a design on one finger of each hand.
I was disappointed with my experience as well. I understand that cuts happen on occasion, but to have THREE on one hand (and, of course, it's the left hand, and therefore the one in all my wedding photos) is just a sign of inexperience or poor training. I normally wouldn't mind if this were just a run-of-the-mill manicure, but to have so many abrasions AND have a manicurist who was unable to complete the design I asked for in an appointment I specified was a bridal appointment was just an utter disappointment.
My mother seems to have been the only one who came out unscathed, but a 25% success rate isn't exactly stellar.
My sister, SIL, and myself made appointments at another establishment the following day to correct our manicures - I was not about to come back and have them cut up our hands further. In the end, an absolute waste of time and money. read more
