I went here yesterday to get a pedi and full set before my trip to Vegas. I made an appointment with Michelle because of all her glowing reviews on Yelp and she did not disappoint! She did an excellent pedi and really took her time to make sure that my nails were perfect. She kept asking me if everything was okay and if I had any problems and I really appreciated it. Go here if you want your nails messed up! I went here to get a full gel set done. Came in to have a nude/black French gel set done. Let's start off with the fact they didn't realize I was Vietnamese. I brought a picture in so the nail tech could pick the colors, but Michelle, the nail salon owner had me go pick my colors. Too bad all the nail polish were in white bottles so I had to open each one to see the color. All of a sudden I hear someone complaining and yelling, I turn around and I'm like, "Is she talking about me??" She started to say out loud to everyone like, "Oh look at this girl, how long she gonna take? Oh well she's just gonna use up all her time." I turn around, and I'm like, You know I'm viet and I can understand everything you're saying.. then she goes UH UH..... I sit down she starts on my nails.. and she files the CRAP out of them.. Files them soooo THIN its painful. I bet they do this so you have to keep coming back to get them filled. The nude color dried into this orange brown color, and instead of doing it over she just layered it with another lighter tan. My nails ended up sooo thick and just plain ugly. The nail tech next to me doing this other lady's nails didn't know I was viet either and she spoke to my nail tech and kept saying how she was messing up this lady's nails. My nail tech, knowing i'm viet looks at me then looks at her, tells her.. "Uhh you need to redo it then".. but then that nail tech was like, "No way, I'm just going to keep layering it with gel and polish. She won't realize it." At the end.. I ended up being here for 2.5 hours getting a full set done bc she kept messing up. I spent $50 and tipped her $10 for who knows why. I had to come back the next day because all my coworkers were like, you need to go back, they messed up your nails. NEVER AGAIN.. and definitely would not recommend this place!! read more

Update: Since I began working across the street, I decided to give this salon a second chance. Today I went to get a quick pedicure during lunch. My nail technician was sweet and attentive. She offered me water/soda/coffee, asked about the temperature of the water, for my preferences on how I enjoyed my pedicure, etc. She went above and beyond, carrying all of my things for me, and carefully wrapping my toes so my pedicure would not be scuffed by my shoes. At the end of the service, I walked out - but forgot my coffee mug. She came running out in the freezing cold to return it to me! I was able to find a 10% off coupon online, and my total french-tip pedicure cost was less than $30, which is a steal for this area. The salon is clean and well maintained. It is a higher-end of mid-range nail salon. Although it's not the absolute nicest I've been it, I feel it is a wonderful value for the price, and the nicest in Herndon. The service was wonderful this time. It's amazing how customer service can truly make the difference between a one star and five star salon. Hopefully this is the norm at this salon now. read more

Got a mani and pedi from Jenny today! I made an appointment in the morning and was seated right away when I arrived (some places you still have to wait even with an appointment...). They have a huge selection of nail polishes and gels to choose from and also offer water, tea, and soda. My pedicure was refreshing and I LOVED the massage chair I got to sit in the whole time. I even got a wax treatment on my hands at the end! Jenny was very sweet and made conversation with me throughout my appointment. A pedicure and gel manicure total only cost $55! When I saw this place had 4/5 stars, I was like wow! it must be good... so I decided to book an appointment based on the yelp reviews, but never again. I got a lady name Annie, I wanted a refill but she gave me the speech that my nails were old blah blah blah and that I needed to get a new set. So I changed my mind and got a mani instead. I don't even know if I can call it a manicure she only smoothed out my nail bed and applied that nail polish. She took longer getting my acrylics off than doing the whole manicure. I got charged $33 ($5 removal + $15 manicure + $10 gel polish nail + $3 unaware extra charge) I like how they have a big selection for their polish nail, the place is small but looks nice. read more

I would love to actually write a review on the service but I can't, I had to walk out. I have never been to a salon that doesn't acknowledge you when you walk in. I've been here a few times because it's convenient and quick, although parking is a pain at the lunch hour. They offer water or another drink, which is a nice touch. Pedicures have been fine, and you can upgrade to the "spa" version for an extra fee, or add on minutes of massage for fee. Waxing was fairly priced and detailed, and the waxer did a nice head/shoulder massage. The day after my last pedicure, I developed an itchy rash all over of the top of my feet. It took weeks to heal, and I can't help think that I picked something up here that caused it. I'm not planning on going back for that reason. read more

I tried multiple salons. I found that $60 is about the average for shellac manicure/ regular pedicure combination. Here it it always around that price depending on french manicure or pedicure style added. I ultimately chose this salon because the pedicure quality lasted 2 weeks and if I ever chipped in between that time period I was able to have it fixed with no charge. When a shellac manicure would chip (rare but I am an athlete so it happens) they would fix one nail for free two or more for about 3$ (and they'd always allow me to add that onto my mani pedi when I came back) They are always very busy, I suggest calling ahead and being prepared for a two hour mani pedi time range. They offer free sodas, tea, or bottled water. The bathrooms are clean, the instruments are always out of a fresh package, and the plastic flip flops are yours free of charge. There's no ATM here and they do prefer cash tips. *NO AMEX ACCEPTED* The staff knew my name after about 4 visits and I have favorites but I will go to anyone when I need to! I went in there to get SNS nails as I've been getting SNS for years. I let the technician (Sally) know that I am very rough with my nails as I type all day as well as rock climb a few times a week so I needed them short as well as a thick coat in order to sustain that type of abuse on my nails. She noticed how thin they actually were and did absolutely nothing out of the ordinary to help protect them. I've had SNS nails last me almost two months when done properly without chipping and these lasted about a week and have already chipped. I also informed her that at my job, I am not allowed to have chipped nails as it could be a safety hazard- still nothing to ensure that they wouldn't. I was highly confused as to why I was putting my nails into the UV light because SNS nails don't require me to do that. In fact, when I've had that done with gel, it NEVER lasts. I understand that it takes time to let me sit there for 10 minutes waiting for the formula to dry and the UV light is a lot faster meaning you can be generating more income by working on someone else's nails, but you have got to be kidding me. Even with Sally taking short cuts, it still took her two hours to do my nails including the pedicure. I was hoping that this would be my go-to nail salon, but apparently they have enough customers and they let you know it. read more

HORRIBLE Experience!! I recently stopped in for the first time for a pedicure,fill,waxing. After my mediocre pedicure my tech took me in to begin my waxing. While waxing my eyebrows she dropped wax onto the side of my face and EARLOBES!! Which I had to clean off at home. That was not the worst part... I also got my upper lip waxed. I love Worldgate Nails! In fact, I won't go elsewhere, ever. The technicians are extremely friendly and they really care about leaving the customer happy- if you're not happy, they're not happy. They don't take shortcuts like most shops. There are tons of colors to choose from and the shop is always clean. I have been seeing Michelle for over 5 years now and she is, in my opinion, the best for shellac manicures. The level of detail she puts in is like nothing I have ever seen before. The plus is that the manicures come with paraffin wax and it is included in the price! $33 for a shellac manicure and it lasts me for a minimum of 3 weeks! In my opinion, Michelle and Rata are the best at pedicures. The pedicures are really a wonderful experience. Treat yourself to a spa pedicure when you get a chance. I have heard people complain about them being busy but those are the folks that walk in at peak time with no appointment. You don't need to make one, but I definitely recommend it. You wouldn't go to your favorite restaurant on a Friday night without a reservation and expect to be seated right away- same here. The technicians are good at what they do and are in high demand. If you don't have time to wait, call ahead!! I would also recommend Worldgate for waxing services. They don't use that cheap wax. This place gets a 4 stars for layout and quality work/services, as well as accommodating large parties. They get 1-2 stars for constantly trying to upcharge and pretend like they heard their client wrong. Came here for a group appointment and I watched them with 3 different customers ignore their request for a normal basic no frills manicure and use gel and/or give them the spa treatment after the customer repeatedly said no, just basic...what's worse is that they were told more than once. They will sit there and argue with customers if they don't go for the premium service...not just for a few quick exchanges, they'll delay starting your service for several minutes and attempt to change your mind...it was really off-putting. Don't offer cheaper services or up your prices, haggling should not be part of a salon experience, and "no" should mean "no"... at least after the 3rd time it's been said. That being said, they DO have great spa mani/pedi options, and I would get them every time. The paraffin wax coating seems frivolous and I'm not sure it actually "does" anything for your skin, but it feels great haha. read more

Wow, I have found the perfect nail salon! Very clean and thorough. Parafin wax dip came included with manicure and was only $5 extra to add to pedicure. Relaxing and not snobby. Days later my nails still look great. I like that when they tried the obligatory upsell offers for gel nails and brows, my decline was accepted graciously. Also my technician spoke great English and even communicated with her colleagues in English. Normally I feel quite left out when the technicians talk away in another language about god knows what, but this time the technician's focus was on engaging me - which I feel it should be while I'm spending my money there. This is not a convenient location for me to go regularly but I will do my best to get back when I can. Am inspired to grow my nails a little longer because of the wonderful job this place does. Extremely busy shopping center and nail salon was quite busy, but was able to take me right away. Next time I will call for an appointment because I want the same technician again. This is my go to place... every weekend I get a polish change and once a month I get a pedicure. I suspect your experience is about who you see and meeting your specific preferences, but my favs are Katy and Michelle. Summary of my experiences is: Bikini wax... Let's be honest and say these suck. But the wax they use is for sensitive skin, the table is comfortable, and the technique is good. Not the best ever but very good and I would go back. Pedicure.... Never had a food grater used on my feet and prefer the razor for sure, but the water was hot (like I like it), chair was comfy, and the polish job always comes out good. They have warm lotion, massage well, and are super nice. Manicure... Good hand massage and paraffin and it always last a full week. They do a good job of getting the clear coat all the way to the edges. BONUS: They really do have the most expansive color choices for OPI that I have seen anywhere and they offer you a drink when you arrive. Very customer service oriented. Love this place. read more

Not the warmest welcome but I was taken care of in 5 min. Tracy did my nails. She suggested the mood changing nail polish and I was alittle apprehensive. My mother-in-law and I came here to get manicures the day before her son's wedding in early August. We had the first appointment of the day and there were already several people there when we arrived (about 5-10 min late). I got a french manicure and the lady did an excellent job. The white part was nice and thin and the clear coat they put over it had a pleasing hue. My nails still looked great a week later. My mother-in-law got a regular manicure and it looked very nice, but I don't think we waited for them to dry long enough because they were smudged within an hour. Both of our manicurists were friendly and sweet. My mother-in-law and I both enjoyed the step of the manicure where they dip your hands in paraffin wax. Our hands came out feeling very moisturized. So, I went to worldgate nails and took my mom to get her nails done for the first time ever! She absolutely loved it. I got a pedi and my mom got a pedi and shellac mani. I can't remember who did my pedi but I wasn't as impressed with jenny who did my moms nails!!! She is amazing! I absolutely love cici's work. I've gone to see her for almost a year now and initially requested her because of all the rave reviews on yelp! I typically don't post reviews for nail salons but felt I had to after witnessing the rudeness these ladies have to deal with from customers. Nail techs are some of the hardest working people I know since they have to deal with customer demands, dirty feet and who knows what else. The salon is always busy so appointments are highly recommended or else you'll wait at least 20-30 minutes. This was mentioned to the woman who came in around 7 for a mani and pedi. She proceeded to sit on the pedicure chair while cici was finishing my nails. You have to keep in mind a lot of the time the tech run over the time or late to tend to you because customers before you were late to their appointments so it pushes everyone else back. This is NOT the tech's fault! Anyhow, the woman waited for 34 minutes for cici to finish with me and asked out loud how long it will take because she's been waiting for a long time. Michelle the owner told her it will be another five and I can tell the woman is full of attitude. Cici quickly finished with me so she can assist the rude customer and I have to commend everyone's professional attitude in the salon when dealing with a sassy customer. Moral of the story: call for an appointment, be nice to your nail techs and tip well since that's what they rely on. Cici is beyond attentive and is always willing to do whatever you want.
