I had lunch in Marshfield today. I searched Yelp, and I didn't particularly like the places reviewed. I wanted food, fast. I saw a culvers nearby, then spotted this chinese buffet from the road. It's in the 'mall'. They have a Radio Shack, and lots of crafty stuff. Anyway, the buffet was suprisingly busy for 1:40pm on Thursday. That's a good sign. All the items were good, I didn't have a bad bit of anything. A few items were quite tasty. Service was typical non-involvment style of most chinese buffets. Dislikes: Sugar on the peanut sauce chicken? no thanks, really. I couldn't find the hot mustard, then was shown the packets of 'kari out' mustard. What? That stuff is such crap. It's so cheap to mix up hot mustard. I'm bordering on three stars b/c of this. No Sriracha, but they did have hot chili oil. Overall, it fit my expectations and needs, and I left with a satisfied belly. Plus: You can shop, eat, then shop. read more

Chicken had tin taste. Fried shrimp too much breading abd no sauce. Terriyaki chicken crisp at ends. No beef and broccoli.

I mean if you wanna pay full price for dried tasteless food that results in diarrhea then I suppose it's a good place. No complaints for the environment. Very nice and clean. read more

We have been coming to the World Buffet for years. We were pleasantly surprised they had moved across the hall, completely updated and remodeled. As usual, there were plenty of food options. We arrived as they were opening so everything was fresh and full. The waitresses were very pleasant and checked on us several times offering beverages and asking if we needed anything else. We went there at about 130 on a Saturday and they were busy but the food was not good it was very dry over cooked sat to long tried lots of different things even the salad was gross the workers where very rude also read more

$13 for all you can eat. The food is not premium for sure but they do have a few specialty dishes that are pretty good. The desert bar is not very populated. read more

We moved from Oregon to Wisconsin in 2023 and I had a surgery coming up in Marshfield. The little village we live in doesn't have any buffets of any kind so we were looking forward to a buffet. I went to the World Buffet with my brother, and stepdad to enjoy a good Chinese buffet unfortunately that is not the experience I had. Instead, I had the experience as follows.. *** Service *** The waitress we had was very kind. After she sat us down she quickly brought our drinks and continued to stop by our table to take the plates we were finished with. I had no problems with our waitress. *** Food *** The food is where things went bad fast. The buttered fish seemed like it had been left out far too long and seemed to be stale. The rest of the food such as the teriyaki, general tso's, and honey chicken just tasted plain bad. The noodles were mostly flavorless and the green beans were undercooked. There was some things that were good like the bbq roasted chicken and the fried rice the egg rolls were ok too but most of the food there was really disappointing. *** General*** As I had mentioned earlier there were 3 of us that went together and we were put at a table that was really small and too close to the wall and the table next to us so it was difficult for us to sit down or get up from the table. *** Conclusion *** I did not enjoy my experience as much as I was hoping to. Actually it was the opposite I was rather disappointed and I did not feel like it was worth the almost $30 for three people. I don't think I will be returning. read more

Favorite buffet ever. So many choices of food and it's always so yummy. The staff is friendly. Love the lo mein & crab rangoon.

I give World Buffet 3 stars because my kids absolutely love this place and whenever asked where they want to go for a special occasion, this is their choice. That being said, the only thing I like is the sweet & sour chicken and the egg fu yung lol We all end up leaving full (some with more of a variety in their belly than others) and happy...which is why we keep going back. I wish they would learn to make their fried rice like China Chef...I would be excited to go there if they had fab fried rice like that :-) read more

Absolutely the worst buffet I have been too. Lots of different choices of food but was not good at all. The lo mein noodles were horrible. The fish didnt taste right and the ribs also had a weird funny taste. At least raspberry tea was good and my bf said his water was the best part of his meal. read more

Large variety of food here. Kind of scary to think you can get pizza to crab Rangoon to Mac n cheese all at one buffet. Food is very bland and it is over priced in my opinion. I once witnessed two staff members fight in the kitchen while I ate with my kids. Yelling and pushing one another. So loud! Kids were horrified. Unprofessional and unacceptable experience. Impromptu lunch meeting, courtesy of my eldest brother and parents. Standard Chinese fare. My dad loves this buffet because of the AYCE concept (is there a Chinese buffet anywhere that *isn't* AYCE?) and since I'd never been there, I decided why not: The crab rangoons are about the best I've had anywhere; gigantic, and overstuffed with a cream cheese filling and an unusually obvious crab (surimi) flavor. Didn't even need the sweet & sour sauce for dipping, they were that good. Hot n' sour soup: nicely spiced but with an unappealing back note of burnt soy sauce. Egg flower soup: sorely lacking in salt, and the ubiquitous peas were hard as buckshot. Stuffed mushrooms: good flavor but overkill on the cream cheese. Teriyaki chicken: excellent; not overdone as in some other buffets I've tried. Egg fun: if it has "egg" in the name, there should be egg in the dish, not? Or at least more than what little was present. Overall, no major complaints, but China Chef is better. World Buffet is more spacious and has better parking available. I believe that heavily contributes to their current success. read more

We've visited three times and each visit is buffet heaven. A vast selection of soups, appetizers and main dishes. You can't go wrong. They have all my favorite dishes so I'm a happy diner. I wish they would open a store in Wausau and show the other buffet wannabe's how it's done. read more

On the bright side, the Diet Pepsi wasn't terrible. Everything else was pretty much inedible. Bland and cheap can be explained by the fact that it's a $10 buffet. What do you expect? The food is pretty good but the staff is not very good at keeping it fresh or labeled correctly. I had gone several times and had no problems but in recent months I have had issues and ended up at the emergency room due to cross-contamination of shellfish with non-shellfish containing dishes, or mislabeled dishes on the buffet; therefore, I cannot suggest that anyone with life threatening allergies should visit this particular World Buffet... Unless of course they are looking for a visit to the ER to top off their evening... read more

World Buffet is our go-to place to eat in Marshfield. The food is always good, but today it seemed better than usual. As I sat at our table, I noticed the steam rising from all the pans on the buffet. On some visits it has seemed that the food was not kept hot enough, but tonight that wasn't a concern. Though it was not particularly busy, the food seemed to be fresh and the staff kept the buffet replenished on a regular basis. My one criticism is with the sushi. I realize that it is a frozen product, but tonight, as with many other times, it seemed dried out from sitting on the buffet. Fresh sushi would really make this place a 5-star buffet. read more

I live in mfld and i found mice in the resturant and when i grabbed a plate there was dried chunks of food on the plates (you can feel chunks of food on the plate when you rub your hand on the top of the plate), and i searched through as many as 30 plates and could not find 1 clean plate, and the other customers were asking me what i was doing, i said trying to find a clean plate, then the owner got mad at me and kicked me out of the resturant, so i reported it to the mall office and called the health dept, but they are still in business, they should have been shut down be now, and if the plates are dirty, then i wonder how dirty the pans holding the food is. And the restrooms were horrible, so bad that their own workers would not use them, they would use the mall restrooms instead of cleaning their own. read more

There was a hair ball in my friends food. Then when we told the employees about this we had the bill handed to us even those we had just been there like ten min. My husband is a die hard chinese buffet lover... we like to go to the world buffet every now and then for fast service and variety. However, my husband is severely allergic to anything containing shellfish. He is always careful about what he eats and what sections of the buffet to stay away from. Yesterday we went for a quick dinner...it was about 7:30pm. We plated up and then my husband went for his second plate after finishing his first. He got meatballs, egg drop soup, sweet and sour chicken and lo mein noodles... part way through eating his meatballs he started sweating and his tongue started to swell. He looked down and there was a small piece of shrimp that somehow was covered in the sauce. He quickly notified our server...handed him the full plate of food and apologized because he could no longer chance eating any contaminated food. He advised that the server either change out the pan or put up a sign saying that it may contain shellfish (just to forewarn others). The server didn't do anything. My husband needed to leave in case his symptoms worsened. As we were paying, we told the hostess what happened. She then proceeded to argue with us and defended the kitchen saying that they cook on separate grills, etc. and that we must have been mistaken on what food we put on our plate... I told her what most likely happened was that someone had shrimp on their plate, overloaded their plate and slightly leaned over causing some shrimp to fall off into the pan. But she still argued with that. I was extremely disappointed with how the staff handled the situation. Shellfish allergies are serious and if my husband hadn't immediately experienced symptoms, it could have been a much worse situation. read more
