I called the front desk to see if someone could fix my heat, and was told no one was available to help. I asked for extra blankets or to switch rooms, and they would not. At noon the next day, after shivering all night, an employee of the hotel broke into my room without my consent. I woke up to him hovering over my naked body. There is currently a sexual assault investigation pending. This hotel/casino is racist, discriminatory, and promotes abuse. Do not stay here, or let anyone you love stay here!!!!

Fast-forward to Dec 26th...date of reservation...was told it was an error and they wouldn't honor the free room, nor was I eligible for the free play or gas certificate. I stayed anyway and paid full price for the room because a family member teavelled 3 hours to join me. I won't patronize them again! Period! Bait and switch offer, marginal food in buffet for high price, Fitness Center Closed, no pool or hot tub, not even a continental breakfast you'd get at a sleazy hotel. NOT pleased and will patronize tribes other than Ho-Chunk.

We also ate at the Groove (one of the restaurants on site). The food was pretty good (except for the shrimp tacos; don't bother with those). The service was pretty hit or miss. The first time we went, we waited a long time for menus, we waited a long time for the food, and we waited a long time for our check. When it was finally time for the check, our server just walked up to the table, said "sorry," and put the check on the table. Um, ok. Our other visits were a bit better (ironically enough, we had the same server every time), but overall it was a "meh" experience. Service in the breakfast buffet next door was much better.

We tried: - Corn chowder: Creamy, chunky, but a bit under-seasoned. - Wild rice meat loaf (something of a house specialty): A huge chunk of pretty good meat loaf, but a bit burned on the outside. - Black patty melt: A well-grilled burger and cheddar on rye, with thousand island dressing. They offered some things by Pendleton Woolen Mills at $53 wallets to around $300 for coats, but it's pricey if you're insisting on cash only, but that's my opinion. There was no luggage rack in the closet, but there's a low table next to the desk that appears design for that purpose. There was a few odd aspects of my room - there's a nice spacious sitting area, but only one TV and it faces the bed. It would be good to have the TV pivot. More notably - it only has cable/broadcast television, but does not provide for streaming online services or mirroring of the television. For many traveler's like me, that's important. The biggest disappointment however was the lack of a fitness room. When I selected the hotel, the description claimed it has a fitness center. I was super excited to check into my room and then hop on a treadmill after a long day of driving. Turns out the fitness center is access to a gym several miles away. Needless to say I was disappointed. So mixed review - if you're looking for a clean, slightly above average place in Rapids and don't need on site fitness center, this is a good option. If you want to stream from your computer or work out without leaving the building, head on over to the Mead Inn.
