Growing up, the Mead Hotel was the height of excellence in Wisconsin Rapids. Over the years it's…read morestarting to show its age, but I do think the new owners are working to improve it. I have stayed there at least four times over the last year and have generally been pleased. On the line, the rooms I have stayed in have been spacious. I like having the sink outside the bedroom. I appreciate a luggage rack, bathroom, and slippers in every room. It is excellent that they have a Roku set up with the televisions so that you can broadcast from your phone or computer. The morning breakfast has been excellent. Great selection, and attentive service. It's not perfect - I think that they need to continue updating the rooms and management should check in on the rooms once in a while. I will stay there again however! .

The reserved room was unavailable and no suitable replacement was given. (I reserved a family…read moresuite, was given a smaller room with 2 queen beds). The girl at the front desk (Olivia) during check in was not polite and very short and rude in her replies. The a/c and heat unit did not work, and instead the window was covered with cardboard and a portable a/c unit, but not well installed and allowed bugs in. I would not use the portable a/c as the filter is very dirty. There is also a ton of chipping paint. The bathroom exhaust fan doesn't work, even after the manager said maintenance would check it out. After addressing all these concerns the manager (a man, maybe Josh Patel) did offer a discount but since it was booked through hotels.com he said he had to submit them to refund partially, but said no other rooms available. However on the app there are multiple double Queen rooms available, which would at least be cleaner and in better order, so I feel I was lied to. I also feel like the rooms are not cleaned well. I do have pictures of all the noted concerns. Breakfast was average, but nice that it was free. The girl at checkout was kind but my credit card was charged for an amenities fee, despite not being informed of this. After getting home and 2 days after partial refund promised, hotels.com still did not receive a request and neither they or I can reach a manager and they don't know when he'll be in. Overall I highly recommend you do NOT stay here and you look at another option, due to not receiving room reserved, uncleanliness, and management that doesn't value their customers and concerns.

The staff are exceptionally nice, warm, and helpful. Truly, kind people. In my book, that goes a long way!

My king size room was clean and spacious, I appreciated having the extra floor space . . . I liked having a closet - so tired of the open hanging in so many hotels. There was no luggage rack in the closet, but there's a low table next to the desk that appears design for that purpose. There was a few odd aspects of my room - there's a nice spacious sitting area, but only one TV and it faces the bed. It would be good to have the TV pivot. More notably - it only has cable/broadcast television, but does not provide for streaming online services or mirroring of the television. For many traveler's like me, that's important. The biggest disappointment however was the lack of a fitness room. When I selected the hotel, the description claimed it has a fitness center. I was super excited to check into my room and then hop on a treadmill after a long day of driving. Turns out the fitness center is access to a gym several miles away. Needless to say I was disappointed. So mixed review - if you're looking for a clean, slightly above average place in Rapids and don't need on site fitness center, this is a good option. If you want to stream from your computer or work out without leaving the building, head on over to the Mead Inn.

Well, my experience was similar to most people's (lost reservations, maids left behind to deal with angry customers in the absence of an indifferent owner, general disillusionment, etc.) but in the end I had a positive experience. So how did that happen? Our group was able to find last-minute accommodations that night at the Hotel Mead which is also located in Wisconsin Rapids. The Mead features fabulous rooms that are reasonably priced, a pool, a full-service restaurant, two bars, and an outdoor patio serving drinks plus bar food. A live band played that night which rocked the house. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Bottom line: If it wasn't for inept owner of Maples, we would have never experienced the pleasure of The Mead and its superb staff. Therefore I give a back-handed tip-of-the-hat to Greg - owner of Maples. Thanks Greg!

I reserved a room here because there were no other rooms available at other nearby hotels/motels…read morebecause of some big event (I think gymnastics tournament?) I gotta say, it's better than what I expected. I usually have really low expectations for any Motel 6. When we walked into our room, it actually smelled clean and was spacious too. I'm glad that they had the wood-looking laminate flooring rather than carpet because carpet is just gross. The beds were also super soft, almost plush. I usually don't sleep well anywhere outside of my own bed but I'm thinking that I'll sleep here pretty good tonight. For the very affordable price, I would definitely stay here again if I were to be in the area, especially being that it exceeded my expectations.

The suspended ceiling in the hallway is hanging down, the bathtub is grimy, someone McGivered the chain in the toilet tank so you have to remove the lid to flush the toilet, the smoke detector in the room was popped open and the battery was missing, someone kicked a big hole in the bathroom door, only one of the sockets in the wall out worked so you had to plug and unplug the microwave and refrigerator to use either one of them, the security door at the hall was inoperable so just about anybody could walk into the facility. Any other hotel in Wisconsin Rapids is better that this dump.
