We were greeted quickly. Sat in less than 5 minutes. Our server greeted us immediately brought us chips when he did. They were hot and fresh and so yummy We ordered cheese and guacamole to go with it and got those things very quickly. My husband added salt and pepper to the guacamole I like to put the salsa and the cheese together. The salsa is really good. Smooth with a nice acidic flavor and a little kick at the end. We ordered our food and I'm pretty sure it came out in less than 5 minutes. My chimichanga was big and tasty with very well seasoned beef. My friend says the beans are to die for and I really can't argue with her. The hubby had a couple of street tacos. Both were good but the carne asada was the best one. Sadly, no room for dessert and we definitely needed a box. The service was great. It's a really colorful place. read more

Really good first time experience. Nice decor and ambiance to the place. Plenty of capable staff. Had 2 for one jumbo margs. Tasty! Chips and salsa really good. The chips are hot and so is the salsa, very good! It's 3:45 and there are at least 10 tables of diners. Some over 5 guests. Photos of menu is what we ordered: Appetizer is Steak Street Taco. I got like a mixed grill and Hubs a cheesy Shrimp over Rice. I already announced "I don't care how much gtake home, we are ordering Cinnamon Flautas, with Ice Cream!!!!" like the restaurant but hate hate hate the website.. Incomplete.. says look at menu but that link takes us to an incomplete page with the latin filler junk text instead of a menu. The link to doordash works but door dash will not let us order the burrito fajita bowl or the pineapple salad Without meat and sour cream.. Forces a selection.. Sad 1950's approach to food.. This was a fun place! We did visit on Cinco de Mayo but the service was so quick, very giving, and happy! Regardless of how busy it was, our food was fantastic! We each had some quesadillas or burritos. The chicken was cooked to perfection! Overall, everything was good, 10/10 especially the room, space, and decor in the restaurant. read more

@1500 1/30 Hostess answered the phone and instead of being pleasant and saying sure we'll fix your order bring it in! She proceeded to tell us how we ordered everything wrong/saying "it was our fault" when we came in to return an uneaten order with receipt, we were willing to pay extra as well for it to be correctly made. The hostess proceeded to scold us like children. In customer service you gotta slap on a smile and talk to the manager if it's that big of a problem for us to want our order right. We are only here for a couple more days in Marshfield, looks like our next dinner will be at Casa Amigos! Where I'm sure no one will argue back and forth with you. read more

Amazing Service. I walk-in and sat at the bar and before I finished sitting I had an iced tea, salsa, and hot tortilla chips which put a smile on my face. No one was specifically at the bar and I couldn't tell because someone was always there to take care of me. I ordered the taco salad and it came as quickly as everything else. The taco salad had a whole chicken breast shredded in the bottom and it tasted very good. I was here because I was waiting for my car at V & H Automotive. If V&H had service this good I would have never walked over turning a so-so day much better. It is worth a return trip. read more

If you like spice, you can mix the green and red salsas together for the chips. This was a good combination for us. We also used the green sauce all over our food because they were all a little bit too bland for our taste. We went in on a Friday at around 4 pm and were seated promptly, since it wasn't very crowded at all. We got the chicken chimichanga and vegetarian three plate dish which included an enchilada, a burrito, and a torta...which becomes soggy quick! So eat it first! The decor is nice and feels authentic with the arches and the art is integrated into the furniture and dishes. read more

I go in here all the time for take-out as I live nearby. I've been really disappointed the last few times I've been in. Despite a "masks required" sign on the door, I've seen large numbers of people without masks congregating in the entryway waiting to be seated. I understand not wearing masks at the table, but in the entryway paying or waiting to be seated? Our state and our community are struggling in this pandemic, and we need your help. Marshfield is home to the largest hospital in central Wisconsin. We're working overtime to treat our fellow community members, and we're close to maxing out. As soon as I arrived at El Mezcal I was greeted by friendly, professional staff eager to sit me in a section, inside or outside and made certain that my cold beverage was served within minutes of being seated. Today I decided to have a Mexican breakfast by eating at a local restaurant voted "Number One" and for winning, "The Best of Marshfield Tourism Award" for best Ethnic Mexican Restaurant and Outdoor Dining for the last two years. I was truly amazed with its service, ambience, reasonable prices, quality Mexican food served in large, GRANDE portions enough for a second take home meal. My waiter was attentive, professional and concerned over myself having a positive eating experience. He made certain that my chips and salsa were fresh and plentiful, cold beverages and having my food delivered within 15 minutes, hot and delicious. He offered me a glass of ice cold water before my main course was delivered that hit the spot in the middle of a sunny day after having spicy and homemade salsa. Today I ordered Huevos Con Chorizo served with Rice, Beans and Fresh Flour Tortillas. I was amazed how their food had improved drastically since I last tried it in 2015 and very excited to order their steak and chicken fajitas that I observed being delivered to another table at only $10.99. Now I am a devoted El Mezcal customer and looking forward to eating a different plate each and every time I return to a Mexican restaurant with ample parking. read more

I'm from Chicago originally. This is not authentic Mexican food. Chips should be fresh and made at the restaurant these are bagged chips that look like they've been refried .There wait time is horrible,I.e over an hour wait for 2 people. I usually don't have to Dr the salsa dip but here I did and I could not get the salsa to taste good either way. The waitress didn't stop often enough drinks glasses where empty more than full. The food came out Luke warm and other persons order came out cold however the serving plates were hot? Their horchata is a powder mix,not even made fresh there either. Its a shame some people are fooled into thinking with the decor and helpers it might be authentic. read more

Wanted to order take out. First of all not the first time we have not been able to get thru. Sometimes it says leave a message and others it says the mail box is full. My husband went there to place our order and no one really cared that we couldn't get thru. They told him 30-40min for our order so he ran next door. When he came back food was on the counter. Who knows for how long but it was cold when he got home. We live 2 miles from the restaurant. Forgot some of the order. Just to frustrated to make the trip back to get it. Will be a long while till we go again for take out. Never have this problem with dine in eating. read more

It's fine. Not great. My meal relied too much on tons of cheese for flavor so it was really greasy. Also note: the vegetarian dishes with rice are NOT actually vegetarian. I asked, and the rice uses chicken broth. Not too cool to lie about since that could get some folks really sick. Good service and a pretty restaurant. Margaritas weren't strong but still tasty. This is a great restaurant which I frequently go to, and it's a place where everybody goes to eat out with friends. I don't know about your experiences, but I have never been disappointed by my food there. The staff is kind and helpful, and the service fast. As for the place's ambiance, I cannot complain. Perhaps the worst excuse for "Mexican" food I have ever had... Of course I am from Texas and this place is in Wisconsin... The locals seem to really love it but they served me pico de gallo made with parsley instead of Cilantro.... They are overpriced and the servers (or at least the ones our large party had) were arrogant and frankly not worth a crud... read more

Worst service EVER the food was scheduled an hour before hand and still had to wait 35 min once getting inside. On top of this they then proceeded to give me the wrong order and sent me home (they overcharged me on this). Once home we realized this was wrong and called they then passed the blame on and said that we would have to pay again if we want the right order EXTORTION FOR MONEY. The food was authentic, hot, and tasted exactly the way it should! The chicken was cooked to perfection in my fajitas. The margaritas were also out of this world. The staff was very nice, but there was one guy that brought up our food that wasn't very nice and rolled his eyes at us because we asked for a additional plate for me and my daughter to share a meal. Otherwise the food was very amazing, and the rest of the staff was amazing. Usually at most sit-in restaurants the food take 10-20 minutes to come, but surprisingly the food came very fast, which was convenient because we had to hurry. I was very excited to find this restaurant. I was here on business for 3 days already and didn't know it was here. Just happened to drive by it tonight. You get free chips and salsa which were very good. I ordered a chicken fajita and it was excellent. They actually chop the chicken into smaller pieces so I had plenty of chicken for all my fajitas. This restaurant is so great. Was very pleased with the staff and the timing in which I received my food. Went in for lunch and ordered The chicken Jimador and it was DELICIOUS. For Mexican food in the middle of the Midwest its not bad, ain't great either though. I've been spoiled for too long living in San Diego to call it good Mexican grub when I come home.
