This was my first experience at Hanuman Express Food Truck. They usually park in the Trig's parking lot which is great because it is centrally located to a lot of places in Wausau. I had read multiple great reviews on Facebook regarding this and had wanting to try it for several weeks. I was not as impressed as I had hoped it to be. I ordered a large order of the Beef and Basil and before seeing and tasting I felt like $8 was a fair price. While the portion size is comparable, I was surprised to see that it looked like it had been sitting for days. The bell peppers were limp and what I felt like overcooked (I prefer my peppers with a little crunch in them still so if you like it soft and chewy it's for you), I saw maybe one or two basil leaves that had zero flavor in them and because this a personally owned business I took the pictures of their food on their Facebook page quite seriously. Another thing that bothered me was that it was very greasy, like the ground beef had been cooked, but not drained at all. It was very salty and took a few bites to get used to. I would probably not order this dish again. I was with someone who ordered the Crispy Pork and that was much better than the Beef and Basil I had. The rice that came with my meal was great as well and this might be a personal thing, but they had great, quality napkins :).
Even though this is my first experience with this Food Truck I would not mark it off my list. They also had a Red Chicken Curry on the menu that I would try and I would definitely order the Crispy Pork for myself in the future -- just never again on the Basil and Beef. I do not like food that has that much grease in it. For an area (in my opinion) that does not offer a lot of "exotic" options and the Chinese food is only subpar, to offer a Thai option in Wausau is fantastic and I do look forward to trying other menu items. read more
