Al Madinah Cuisine - Buttered chicken and chicken tikka masala - Indian Near Me - Marshfield, Wisconsin

Went here for dinner back in November when I was new to area and go back a few times a month. This was after new ownership and while I didn't try it with previous owners, this place is wonderful!! Chapli kebab is juicy and seasoned perfectly. Served with fragrant rice and naan. Butter chicken savory and rich. I stop by often for their Sunday buffet to try new dishes. The samosas are perfect! Filled with potato and seasonings. Pastry shell is flaky and perfect. Mango Lassi is a must! Hot tea too. Go today! read more

So, to give some context, I'm from near Toronto in Ontario, so I'm used to being spoiled for choice when it comes to Indian and Middle Eastern food. I've had the good, the bad, and the completely middle-of-the-road. Al Madinah gave me an incredibly pleasant surprise. To start off, my fiancé and I ordered the Chicken 65 and two samosas to start with. Chicken 65 is one of my favourite dishes, so I happy to see a generous portion of it when we were served. The pinkish-red colour with a few char marks looked absolutely appetizing, the flavour was intense and rich without being overpowering, and the chicken was cooked perfectly -- not overdone in the slightest! The samosas were great too. I'm used to little cubes of potato, but the mash was still delicious and bursting with flavour. They could have been a smidge larger, but not to the point I'd seriously complain about it. For our entrees, I got the Goat Korma and my fiancé ordered the Kofta/meatballs. The goat was exactly what I was hoping for, being seasoned to perfection and fall-off-the-bone tender, at a decently generous serving, too. The sauce was just the right level of spicy and loaned its flavours to the meat nicely. I had enough sauce left to mix with my rice, which almost made it another entree on its own! The rice was deliciously fragrant, as well. I'm assuming it was either basmati or jasmine -- either way, it was super yummy. The kofta was similarly impressive. The meatballs were firm enough to stay together and not simply fall apart in the sauce or when stabbed with a fork, but tender enough to nearly melt in your mouth when eaten. Again, I was left very impressed. We also had some garlic naan to sop up some of the sauces. Naan, in my opinion, is very hard to get wrong, but it's also not usually something that surprises me. This one, however, left me a bit shocked at how nice it was. The texture and taste was really something special. The total came to about $64 for everything, which I consider a fair price for the amount of food we'd ordered. That's without tip, of course, but we were happy to tip for the wonderful food and service we got. While I didn't get the name of the gentleman who served us, he was very polite, well-spoken, and was attentive to our table without being overbearing about it -- I personally can't stand it when servers are constantly "checking in" on us every 5 minutes. Both my fiancé and I found the overall experience to be wonderful. We'll definitely be back some time in the future. Thank you so, so much for the great service and even greater food. Cheers! read more

The food here is amazing, so flavorful while also being mild enough to be accommodating to all palates. The restaurant smelled amazing and the dining experience was really great. A must try if you are in the area. read more

You're in Marshfield Wisconsin. So were you going to find authentic Indian food , yes rhetorical. We all know the answer is absolutely not. But here we are in an Indian restaurant which claims to be Hyderabadi Indian food. Well then this promises to be fun ! The place is cute , nice art work , cute little lamps on the tables and Bollywood music playing in the background. So far so good , but sadly that's where it ends. The food is really subpar and that's being generous. The paneer tikka masala was terrible , tiny lumps of paneer dropped in some off the shelf sauce and worse , it lacked flavor. The plain paneer tikka was ever so slightly better but the bar here isn't low it's below the ground. I want to like the place but it's not helping. The garlic naan.. terrible, and felt undercooked. Whoever made this just should stop. The chicken tikka masala - equally bad. And the most egregious of all the masala tea just did not do it justice. The deserts felt like they came from a box. While I cannot confirm this I'm positive the Ras Malai I had came from a box because I've purchased it at an Indian store and it was identical! Let's end on what was good , the service was nice. The lady that owns the place or the manager whoever she was , was also very nice. I really wish they step it up and hope to visit again soon. The place has a lot of potential and while not everyone is as critical as I may be of Indian food , and the place seemed popular it is just not it. read more

Lets open with this from the New Owners updated website... "Al Madinah Cuisine was previously run by a wonderful Hyderabadi Couple (Syed and Najeeb). To preserve the legacy they left behind and hopefully add newer and greater flavors to be one of the most sought-after Indian Restaurants in the area, the new owners, Umer, and Avantika have partnered with Siyar to try and take it to newer heights." We stopped in tonight and were very pleased with the upgrades. Food was excellent.. spices perfectly balanced. Palak Paneer and Aloo Gobi both were beautifully prepared and seasoned. Friendly and helpful servers.. Wishing you great success and we'll see you in two weeks!! read more

Yikes. I get being in the middle of nowhere Wisconsin you wouldn't expect authentic Indian cuisine, but I've lived in similar small towns which were exponentially better than what was offered here. I appreciate tailoring to customers needs when it comes to spice levels, but when the core dish is so far removed from what you're calling it; that's where I take issue. Butter chicken was watery, and devoid of garam masala or typical spices you'd associate with this dish. It's clear they don't have a tandoor- no smokiness or qualities you'd expect to be had. The biryani was tasteless; appearing that they simply cooked chicken, and then folded it into rice, which had questionably bright red rice flecks (sure wasn't saffron). Gulab jamun were ice cold; likely straight from a can, with little to no sauce. Though seeing the quality of the overall food; maybe that's best. The only highlight was a samosa; the only flavorful thing on offering- which let's not pretend they didn't just buy this product preprepared. There's more flavorful frozen Indian dinners and jarred sauces at Walmart that are far superior than what this establishment offers. What a disappointing waste of money. read more

We had five people in our group and had a really great experience here. Started with a soup, and the entrées which included rice, nan, side, dishes, and a dessert. Then at the very end, they brought out a Persian tea that was really awesome. It was a lot of food and a good value with good service. read more

Ordered Naan, Chicken Tikka Masala Spicy, and Kadhai Goat curry. Rice is separate. Food was great! Restaurant was busy. Everyone was helpful. Wonderful to have this option in town. We will be back again. read more

I have been anticipating my 1st meal from Al Madinah Cuisine. I have always had to go to Appleton to get my fix of Indian food. ordered on line thru door dash, 07/14/2024, around noon .call from Autumn to apologize an inform me of no more Gorbi, {cauliflower}," " did I want something else ", inquired regarding chicken 65, stated they are not that dish right now, was informed by gentleman at front pick up area that they have just opened and have a new cook, they do not want to overwhelm cook.", only adding one dish at time for now, ????? tried to get me to order mushroom item , just wanted to remove cauliflower and pay for butter chick and 2 orders garlic naan, charges to my credit card greater then 40$. and of course, naan plain, but charged my for garlic. call to rectify situation , staff also said we have the gorbi, "who told you that "heard him ask coworker. and was confirmed that is what i was to was told, with no rationale. also informed that i have to go thru door dash to get my refund, and did not have time to talk to me," too busy" very disappointed at customer service, disrespectful to customers concerns and no wish for returning customers. read more

Eagerly drove 30 miles to visit this new restaurant. Had been following their progress in opening on FB. When we arrived, seven of the nine tables were full. The waitress asked if we were in a hurry as carry-out orders were pouring in. She said it could be an hour. "Until we get our food?" I asked. "No, until we were finished." she responded. The next disclaimer was that nearly half the menu was not available. An hour later, not one table had received their food. As we were paying for our Pepsi (the only thing to have shown up), the waitress announced to the entire restaurant, "We're sorry, but the computer screwed up and we've only been preparing take-out orders. But now we're going to put you all first in line." As we were eighth in line, her announcement was not reassuring. It was clear from the glare by the cashier, and the demeanor of the wait staff, that we all were to just be indulgent because they just recently opened. We viewed the entire experience as extraordinarily disrespectful to all concerned. Too few tables, too few staff, insufficient supplies to prepare over half the menu, used cheap tables, and not even the barest of decor! You're opening a restaurant and couldn't score a single vase or picture for the walls? Don't know if all this was from arrogance, inexperience, or just not giving a crap. Regardless, inexcusable. read more

We have waited for this and drove the car by 30 miles and we have spent $100 and ordered 3- chicken biryani, 3-butter naan, 1- butter chicken, 1- Palak paneer, dishes , but the food taste is not at all good and chicken biryani, no taste , it's like plain rice with no taste , Chicken piece size is okay in biryani but no taste, it seems the chicken is only boiled in water and mixed with rice , but chicken pieces in butter chicken is only water with four pieces r smushi and again no taste... not worthy. Waste of money, raitha is made with yogurt, it's Walter like butter milk, so not considered as Raitha. read more

We had two takeout dishes and the food was delicious. I hope they can make a go of it in Marshfield. read more

We got takeout and everyone loved their meal. I enjoyed the paneer korma--it is nutty, creamy and delicious. I'm from a big city, so it's so nice to see this place here in Marshfield! read more

Was REALLY hoping this place would be delicious, but it is not. I love Indian food so much, so was pretty excited to hear this place was coming to Marshfield. It's very disappointing actually. Tried it a couple times and was not impressed. Both times got something different. With both dishes, I got only 3 SMALL pieces of meat in a sauce that was so liquidy, might as well call it soup. There's also no flavor whatsoever except for spice. Not appetizing at all. The naan bread was good the first time. Perfect seasonings. Got it again and there was a huge chunk of ginger on it and that's all you could taste, while the middle was rock hard and not edible. The lasso drink was not that great either. The yogurt ratio in it is way too much. Maybe I'm just used to bigger cities where it tastes delicious but this just was not it. They could benefit going to a city where they have a lot of Indian restaurants and see what they do there. I really am hoping this place succeeds and wish the owners well on their adventure, but I'm just not loving this place right now. Maybe in the future I will try again. read more

So happy to have an Indian restaurant in Marshfield. Tried veg samosa, butter chicken, and garlic naan. All delicious. Note, they are having some growing pains and still working out their menu, but I am okay giving them space to do that. I will definitely be back. read more

Had very high hopes. Aside from the opening chaos with an overwhelming number of patrons - this was the worst Indian food we have ever had - and we regularly enjoy Indian food. We will give it one more try but the quality needs to change. The tikka was not even remotely close to authentic tikka and the butter chicken was thin like soup - with only four tiny pieces of chicken. The naan was clearly not homemade. Very disappointing. read more

The food is delectable and the service was friendly and prompt! I had the Dum Tea, palak paneer, and garlic naan. Highly recommend the Dum Tea and Palak Paneer in particular. My friend had the Chicken Dosa and Butter Chicken and also had amazing things to say. They have added decor, and the space is beautiful with chairs, couches, and art. It is such an asset to have something flavorful and different in the community! I look forward to supporting this business. read more

I've visited twice. Decor has change from December to January creating a lovely atmosphere. Service is friendly and prompt. Our food was delicious, we shared 2 dishes and had leftovers for both of us even with two people sharing. Enjoyed everything I've tried so far. Great addition to the community, I will absolutely come back to try more of the menu. read more

This was so much better than I expected in Marshfield. The food was delicious and the sevice was quick. It is so wonderful to have a taste of something that is not burger and fries. I hope they do well. It is higher priced than a standard restaurant meal but worth encouraging variety in a rural community. read more

The food has a lot of food coloring in it (e.g. their chicken 65). The prices are high for the small quantities they serve (it makes no sense that restaurants in larger cities with more rent and cost of operations like Milwaukee, Madison, and Minneapolis charge lesser for more quantities). The food is very americanized (use more spices and stop claiming to be authentic if you are not going to be authentic). Also for the pirces you charge atleast include some rice with your gravy dishes. It is great to see an indian restaurant in Marshfield but having a monopoly shouldn't result in your customers having to out up with substandard practices. read more

most of the food is frozen stuff and not cooked fresh. Quantity is 1/3rd of any Indian restaurant but price is same. No rice served with curries which is free in all Indian restaurants all across the country ? Come one . Show some honesty if you can't cook better food. I don't think they are going to last long read more
