Okay, I'm going to do my best to give this place a fair review. After all, it seems unfair to compare the sushi from a shopping mall in New Westminster with the sushi that we had in Japan. So here goes... Woomi Sushi is located inside Royal Square Mall. I wound up ordering their Special Bento Box E ($11.50) which included 2 pieces of tuna sashimi, 2 pieces of salmon sashimi, 2 pieces of yam tempura, chicken teriyaki, 4 pieces of California roll, salad and miso soup. I showed up just before noon on a weekday and it wasn't busy at all (not unexpected given how hidden this stall is). The salad was crisp, the miso soup was hot, and the California roll was typical of sushi from a shopping mall... nothing outstanding here. Of everything, the yam tempura was probably the best as it had a light and crisp batter and seemed fresh. Meanwhile, the sashimi was the troubling part of this dish and you can kind of see it in how the sashimi appeared in the picture... it seemed to be still partially frozen. I even waited until the end of my meal to give the sashimi a chance to warm up a bit but I could still feel the slightly icy crunch from the inside of the flesh. As for the chicken teriyaki, it tasted precooked and reheated and was served on a light bed of cabbage and limp broccoli. It's a shame because the people seemed nice and I really wanted to like this place more than I did.

Best sushi I have had in a long time. From their nigiri to their salads to the tempura. Love their sashimi too.

The staff are genuinely friendly and attentive, and I've never felt pressured to hurry through a meal or give up the table. I took my parents there yesterday and they both ordered the chicken bento box. I was actually surprised by how much food they received. With restaurant prices being what they are these days, I thought it was very reasonably priced for the amount of food they were served, and they both really enjoyed their meals. I ordered a few different rolls, and every one of them was fresh and delicious. Another thing I appreciate about Sushi On is how clean and well cared for the restaurant is. We arrived just before opening and had to wait until the exact opening time before they let us in. Through the window, though, I could see the staff still busy cleaning and getting everything ready. I didn't mind waiting at all--in fact, I appreciated seeing that they weren't going to open the doors until everything was just right. Fresh food, generous portions, reasonable prices and genuinely friendly service. There's a reason Sushi On remains one of my favourites.

I really like their teishoku (set meal) options! I got a combo set that comes with both chirashi don and udon, plus a small side salad and three pieces of tempura for $27.95. The sashimi was super fresh, and even the salad greens were crisp with zero bad leaves. The rice in the chirashi don was delicious, it's sprinkled with a layer of furikake which makes it so easy to eat. The fish slices were a bit thin, but since you get 5 or 6 different kinds plus some fish roe, I can't complain. The presentation of the whole chirashi don was adorable, complete with a tiny edible (?) flower on top! The interior is super comfortable and feels spacious, even though seating is a bit limited. They were doing great business for lunch, literally packed the entire time! This was my first visit, but I definitely wouldn't mind stopping by again if I'm in the area to try their other dishes. Recommended!

The space is small and airy, nicely decorated. The food comes really quick. Their menu has sushi, rice bowls and udons. It's a small menu but everything is good. I had the Salmon Zuke. Raw salmon, 6-7 pieces each one quite substantial, laid on top of rice dome, with egg yolk on top of volcano, and pickled onions. I LOVE the combo of egg yolk and pickled onions - I haven't had this before and the flavour really really works. It leaves a delightful aftertaste in my mouth too. It's not that much food but really really good. Also has a piece of deep fried seaweed or something which really complements the rice. My wife's truffle mushroom udon looks like a work of art. The garnish in the middle was pretty impressive and I tasted the sauce which was good. Also tried a little of the pork miso. Nice flavours and the crispy garnish really works. For a little hole in the wall place at bottom of train station this place's bowls and udons hit far above the price in quality. Very impressive place.

In addition, we tried their Tomato Prawn and the Matcha Strawberry Swirl. The tomato Prawn dish was hands down the best dish. The Truffle Mushroom Udon had a lot of umami flavour which I didn't mind, but my partner found it a bit overpowering. All the other side dishes on the tray were great. The Matcha Strawberry Swirl was quite sweet in my partner's opinion, but I didn't mind the sweetness. There was definitely more strawberry flavour than matcha which was unfortunate because we really wanted the taste the matcha as well. Overall, staff was very nice and service was quick. It was very cozy, warm, open concept where you can see the chef, and a welcoming environment.
