I came across FusionCore from UberEats and decided to give it a try. Fish, uni and scallop were fresh. Rolls were rolled well. The brown/purple rice we subbed out for a few rolls was excellent. It's usually dry, but not this place. For the prices you pay and what you get, I would order again.

I have heard plenty of good stuff about this place. It is a takeout and delivery place with no space to sit in or wait. I suggest calling or do online order in advance so that you can just pick up and go. The parking is tight in the small plaza lot. It takes about 15 minutes for a small order, and longer if you have plenty of items. The croquette sampler was highly raved so I had to try it. You get to try cream corn, pumpkin and potato croquettes. I like pumpkin best, followed by the cream corn. Potato is meh. I did not like the spicy Mayo (?) sauce. I think the traditional tonkatsu sauce will go better with it or maybe I am used to having the tonkatsu sauce which is commonly used in Japan and other Japanese restaurants in Asia when you order croquette. The house special roll combo was a good way to try a bit of everything. It came with appetizer size sashimi, salmon maki and a choice of specialty roll. I chose the salmontain roll which seemed similar to the salmon oshi. It was delicious and the combo was filling. The sashimi was fresh. Definitely worth a repeat order and visit. They also have curry rice with your choice of protein and other items.

Hubby and I wanted to try out a new Japanese restaurant because we needed variety instead of just going to our go-to sushi joint. We found Fusion Core on SkipTheDishes and tried it out. We ordered the following: salmon aburi oshi + uni nigiri + miso soup for me while the hubby ordered takoyaki + chicken teriyaki rice bowl for him. Pricing was fair and the aburi was affordable compared to other places in Vancouver. We loved our orders from Fusion Core. The takoyaki was delicious and cooked just right. My salmon aburi oshi was sooo good! I really enjoyed it! The uni was plump and fresh. The hubby liked his chicken teriyaki and takoyaki a lot. Fast forward 2 days later, we both wanted to get dinner from Fusion Core again so opted to call and pick-up our food to see the restaurant in person. It is strictly a delivery/pick-up restaurant with no seating inside -- there are benches in the complex that has Timmy's too. It is clean and tidy inside and parking is available in the area. Our food was ready in about 30mins after we placed our call. For our 2nd time at Fusion Core, the hubby got their Bento C and takoyaki (again LOL) while I ordered beef fried rice, BBQ squid tubes and miso soup. Their bentos are definitely bang for your buck plus the sashimi was fresh and they didn't scrimp on it. The hubby really liked his bento box especially their house salad. Takoyaki was consistently good. My BBQ Squid was cooked perfectly -- it was soft and not tough at all. The beef fried rice was ok -- it was mainly because I expected Japanese style fried rice (yakimeshi) but it was a fusion type fried rice. Beef portions in the fried rice were big though and enough to be eaten alone. Overall, pretty happy with Fusion Core. Looks like we have a new Japanese place to regularly order from. Definitely get a bento box or their aburi oshi when ordering from them, highly recommended!

Discovered this little gem over the weekend. It's located along the border of Burnaby and New West and they have a pretty good selection of specialty oishi, nigiri and rolls and for a decent price! We ordered the Fatty Salmon Nigiri + Chopped Scallop Nigiri + Negitoro Maki + Lava Roll + Aburi Oishi Salmon + Aburi Oishi Jumbo Prawn for takeout. And overall the pricing is really decent! The Aburi Oishi is $11 for 6 generous pieces and did find that they are very filling on their own already as they had a but more rice in the Aburi compared to most locations. Everything was really fresh and I'm quite surprised we can get this great variety and flavours in this area!

Exploring the area and found this Japanese eatery nearby. Small place and strictly for takeout as there is no room for seats inside. You can however find some benches in the plaza to eat at. The croquette sampler was an awesome snack to consume with the dip. The cream corn ones were the best, but smaller than the rest. I love that creamy goodness! The pumpkin ones were also delectable and were a good contrast to the cream corn ones. More firm and resoundingly pumpkin. I wasn't too hot about the potato ones though; I could live without them. The wild salmon aburi (1pc) was good. The salmon and tuna belly nigiri seemed better to me as they were silkier. The Alaska roll was more like a California roll here, except with salmon. Nothing much to say about it. The salmon and mackerel aburi oshi were delicious; both were creamy with sauce and melt in your mouth. Would definitely try the others too. I would recommend going for the croquettes and the aburi oshi if you can only go here once. Fast service and remember to skip on the utensils if you're bringing it home!

Ordered through UberEats, food was prepared very quickly. Very good value as the portions are very large. Quality is high and there is a good variety of items on the menu. We tried the Sampler Nigiri Sushi combo and Deluxe Sashimi Rice Bowl. Nigiri has a good fish to rice ratio.

FusionCore came across my radar due to their high ratings on Yelp, so we decided to give them a try. The storefront is quite unassuming and they are only take out with no room for seating. When we picked up our orders, I was a bit skeptical that it would be enough food for us but boy were we surprised. Not only were all of stuffed, but we also had leftovers. The aburi sushi, in particular I was a big fan of and the prices were very reasonable (only $10.99 per roll). Their speciality rolls were also amazing - salmontain roll and lava roll. The combination of flavours were on point, and I loved the little bit of 'zing' with the spicy sauce. Five stars and would highly recommend!

Fatty Tuna Belly Nigiri and Fatty Salmon Belly Nigiri

Recently, I noticed a Japanese place show up on my radar that's located in a mini mall along the busy Burnaby/New Westminster border. From past experience, most of these places are just your run-of-the-mill quick sushi places that are nothing to write home about. So I was actually pleasantly surprised by the variety of Japanese fare that FusionCore serves up. First off, this place is quite small and strictly take-out. But that doesn't mean that they don't have quality ingredients. I ordered their Aburi Oshi Salmon ($10.50) with torched salmon with jalapeno and special house sauce as well as a piece of Fatty Tuna Belly Nigiri and Fatty Salmon Belly Nigiri ($2.50 each). Just look at that fatty salmon belly... mmmm! On this visit, I didn't think the nigiri was as tender as I expected but it was still pretty good. Aburi oshi sushi is a pretty trendy item in Vancouver right now and this was pretty spot on. Definitely going to try some of their other versions in the future. I came back a few days later to try their Assorted Nigiri ($14.95) which included octopus, fatty salmon belly, salmon, tuna, wild salmon, scallop, surf clam, and fatty tuna nigiri. I think their menu actually said that it should have included tai instead of hokkigai but the surf clam actually was pretty good. This time, the fatty salmon belly and fatty tuna belly were more melt-in-your-mouth. But my favourite of the bunch has to be the hotate... the scallop was so tender and buttery. On my next visit, I tried their Aburi Oshi Scallop ($10.50) with capelin roe and avocado... a nice and creamy version. I liked their Chicken Karaage ($6.95) which had a perfectly crispy exterior with juicy boneless chicken meat on the inside. I finally tried one of their sushi rolls with a classic BC Roll ($5). A relatively cheap price for a filling roll. If I were to nitpick, I'd say that there was a bit too much rice in the roll for my liking but it wasn't too bad. I also added a couple of pieces of Salmon Belly Nigiri and Hamachi Nigiri ($2.50 per piece) and I've got to say that their nigiri is pretty spot on. The one item that I found a bit lacking was the Pork Cutlet Curry ($12.50) that I tried in November. Now, part of this is probably because curry doesn't travel well in take-out containers. Since they didn't keep the curry sauce separate, it was soaked up in the rice by the time I ate it. Also, the pork cutlet wasn't as crisp on the outside as I'd like it to be (again, probably due to the nature of having this as take-out). Also, I felt the pork itself was a bit on the chewy side. Overall, I've pretty impressed with the sushi and sashimi quality here and it's a great take-out option in the area.

This is now my new favourite sushi place. There food is fantastic I can't say enough good things about this place I have ordered tgere number of times through the website food was excellent. Never had a bad order.

Later on when we were ready our order was taken by a male staff member. We ordered a decent amount. Miso cheese eggplant, chawan-mushi, fried fish collar served in some kind of broth, 8pc nigiri omakase, blue fin tuna&uni hand cone, another hand cone but I can't remember what was in it..wifey ordered it, vegetable tempura and a black truffle dynamite roll. The highlight for me was the black truffle dynamite roll, it's taste was perfect. The right amount of truffle used and not over powering like I've had at so many other venues. I was pleasantly surprised and delighted. It was smokey, earthy and tasted wonderful. The miso cheese eggplant was delicious, slightly salty from the miso and wonderfully roasted soft eggplant. The fish colar in broth was light and delicate, beautiful flavor and texture. Chawanmushi was soft and delicate, excellently flavored. The omakase which had fish from Japan was delicious, super fresh and masterfully prepared! The tempura came with a green tea seasalt which was different but very nice. For dessert we had the green tea tiramisu which was very tasty. The restaurant itself is small but cozy and wonderfully decorated. My wife and I had a wonderful meal and I would go back for special occasions.

We sat in a separate section of the restaurant with 3 tables at the front. We ordered chicken wings, assorted tempura, miso black cod and an order of beef teriyaki that was not on the menu. The servings are very small for the prices charged. We found that the chicken wings (only 4 small wings) $9.50 were a bit dry. The tempura batter was not as crisp or crunchy as we've had. The miso black cod was a very small portion - maybe 4 oz. for $18.00. We did not feel that there was value for the money. The food was average and the prices were too high for the quality and amount of food received. We did not enjoy the anime that was playing and we were glad that we were not sitting in the main dining room. Overall, we feel that there are better options for a Japanese meal.

Okeya Kyujiro is a Michelin one-star theatrical omakase restaurant, and when they say theatrical, they mean it! From the moment you're welcomed by smiling ushers in kimono to the closing tea ceremony, every movement feels intentional, precise, and elevated. The ambiance is serene and anticipatory. At the start, guests sit in silence as a black screen conceals the chefs. You see their shadows moving behind it. A bell rings, the screen lifts, and the performance begins. Dinner is a 25+ course experience priced at $325 per person. It's undeniably a splurge, but for a milestone celebration, it feels justified. The menu is seafood-forward, with many ingredients flown in from Japan. Each ingredient is presented before preparation, then carefully assembled and served directly from chef to guest. Courses arrive one by one, never rushed. The service team moves seamlessly in the background, refilling water and attending to drinks (available as an add-on) without disrupting the flow. The finale is a matcha ceremony, whisked in front of you with the same quiet precision that defines the evening. When the final sip is taken, the bell chimes once more, the chefs and staff bow, and the screens close. It was a beautifully choreographed dining experience, perfect for marking a special moment, and one I'd gladly return to for the next celebration.

This is a more theatrical style so expect louder music and a more theatrical experience (eg one of the servers played the flute for the guests celebrating birthdays). I prefer a more intimidate and interactive style of omakase where you can talk with the chefs. This lunch also felt a little fast in terms of progression of the meal. Some of the dishes were very tasty while others didn't wow us. With drinks, we were quite full despite some reviews saying portion is on the smaller size. Our total was around $500 with drinks for 2 people. A really good experience for omakase, especially if you are looking for a unique experience though not my favourite one I've tried.
