    Pork & broth
    David H.

We came here on a Thursday evening, and although it was busy, we got a table very quickly. This cozy restaurant had some amazing tasty dishes that definitely took us by surprise. My personal favourite was the salmon oshi and the pork and broth. The oshi was perfectly made, while the pork and broth shocked me with a ton of unexpected flavour! Can't wait to visit again!

Quaint spot offering affordable daily udon lunch sets. Sushi was delicious and fresh.

I heard so much about this place and finally got to try it. Located by the New Westminster bus loop, it is convenient to get to if you're taking transit. Paid parking is available in the skytrain station plaza and on the street. Free street parking is a few blocks away. I was going to try the sushi sampler which was what I kept seeing being posted but found out they have a daily tray "Kioku no shoku". Limited to 20 trays a day. So I got to try that instead. I always love makunouchi or shokudo and this is similar to it. It has a bit of everything. There are udon, rice bowl, tofu, salad, sushi, appetizer and pickles in the tray. The scallop mentaiko udon was good and I enjoyed the ahi tuna poke. The oshi sushi and seasonal salad were delicious. Everything was good. The seats are not the most comfortable, maybe RO discourage people from lingering. It is also licensed to sell alcoholic drinks here. I like that this place is not a sushi place. Instead it focuses on other Japanese food like udon and rice bowls.

    Salmon Zukke Don

Salmon Zukke Don? Solid 5/5. Texture and seasoning of salmon is top tier. Love the addition of the shiso leaf tempura. Might be being greedy but if the yolk to rice ratio had a sliightly bigger yolk it'd be my perfect ratio. Popcorn Prawn Fry 4/5 - these little tater tottin' guys are a fun addition to share for the table. Truffle Mushroom Noodles 3.5/5 - as a mushroom and udon enjoyer, this was alright but not sure whether I tasted the truffle as I slurped it down. I tend to avoid getting udon when eating out, but wouldn't mind giving it another try. Salmon Zukke carries this 5* review from me o7. Been here at least 5 times in the past year just for Salmon Zukke.

I would give this place a 3.5/5 I could. We came on a Saturday night and the place wasn't too full. You order at the counter and they bring you your food. We had the truffle udon, egg tofu sushi, futomaki, popcorn shrimp and mushroom. The truffle udon was my favourite out of the dishes. It was really creamy and had a good amount of truffle flavour. The popcorn shrimp could have been lighter. The shrimp was nice and snappy though. The futomaki was huge. It fell apart once I picked it up as it was so big. The flavours were not bad Overall I thought the service was really nice. The portions are okay for the price. It's worth a try if you like truffle udon

First time eating here. We made a last minute decision to change our lunch venue and I am glad we did. We ordered the lunch tray for $23. I love the variety as it wasn't your typical Japanese lunch box. The restaurant is small so come early as the lunch try is limited to 20 per day. The food was good and definitely return again.

This place is my next favourite restaurant in New West! The staff are so friendly and accommodating, and the restaurant itself is so organized and cozy. I had the salmon steak, and I was given instructions on how to enjoy the meal. I was advised to take the bite of the salmon first before adding the broth. When I tell you I wanted to cry, I'm not exaggerating haha! The first bite was so delicious and memorable. The crunch and the density of the salmon was a perfect combination. Then, the broth just added the meal into a whole new level. Will I be visiting again this week to order the same thing? Yeah probably :)

One of the most unique spots in New West. The food feels thoughtful and carefully made, not just another trendy place. Flavors are clean, balanced, and memorable. You can really tell they care about every detail. Definitely coming back.

I hardly comment but this place is amazing. Nearly every item is cooked to perfection. I called on Christmas to see if this place was open. Someone answered the phone even though it was closed. Nevertheless I visited the day after Christmas to enjoy a wonderful meal. We will be coming here again whenever I visit Vancouver. I hope this place thrives and receives recognition for its food. This place is definitely a hidden gem. Cheers!

The service here was great, ambiance was clean and nice. The food was especially delicious! The noodles weren't my fav but everything else was great! Would come back

Unique setup where you pay upfront first and then have your food brought to you. The dishes arrived promptly, beautifully plated, and tasted fresh and exquisite. The fried shiso leaf along with the carefully marinated salmon with egg yolk were a great pairing. The ahi tuna poke bowl was vibrant and fun. I loved the subtle sweetness of the tamago. The rice was a bit too sticky for my taste, but that's more of a personal preference. The service was excellent--our waiter was attentive and friendly. I'll definitely be back! I would like to see a miso soup or another soup option on the menu. I think that would pair well with the rice dishes!

Everything looked wonderful but I was intrigued by their Teishoku sets, so I got the Teishoku ocean and salmon avo roll. The Teishoku ocean set came with: Carrot puree vinaigrette radish Cold tofu which was a bit sour Ponzu black sesame broccoli Truffle edamame - super yummy Diced carrots and cucumbers - I dipped these in the leftover broccoli sauce Rice- well seasoned and yummy Super filling The rice used for the salmon avo roll was seasoned with a brownish vinegar which gave it a more rustic look that I enjoyed. The niche of this place is they used different color of rice, it's slightly pink but tastes just as the normal sushi rice. Apparently it's mixed with different kind of vinegar when mixing the rice. The sashimis are super fresh, salmon toro and tuna toro are both delicious. The shrimp tempura was freshly cooked, very crunchy. Salmon Oshi was nicely seared on the top. If I have to pick, the salmon toro sashimi was my favorite. The service was standard and friendly. They informed us about the last calls, and wasn't rushing us out when it was time to close. The price is reasonable and affordable. Overall, I've had a great experience with this place. when I'm around this area, I will come back and visit again.

My meal was simple but still got to try new stuff that I hadn't tried before. I went Vegan for this meal. Kanpyo roll and Asparagus Nigiri were both new to me. Don't see either of them on restaurant menus much, if ever. I enjoyed them both and while I have always enjoyed the taste of tuna or salmon sushi (and all the other raw fishes that are served in Japanese restaurants), I really didn't miss the fish at all. Very much enjoyed my meal here, and so happy to see these Vegan options on the menu!
