Perfect place to cure your cravings. Nice but quaint, but the food delivers. The truffle mushroom udon is a must try, drink the sauce to the last drop. They also serve sushi rolls and various drinks. We love the flavour profiles and service. And super convenient to transit.

Punches above its weight class, this unassuming small restaurant offers carefully crafted dishes. Only thing is it is pricey for the amount you get. Our favorite was the mentaiko udon, the flavors are delicate but blend beautifully. The oshi had too much rice. Friendly service! Bright clean unfussy atmosphere.

Their scallop mentaiko was fresh and so good. It was a fresh take on the traditional mentaiko. Their pork dish needed more flavor, however the sauce for the noodles itself was very good. Something to note, they always offer 1/4 portion more noodles at no extra cost, but even with the extra noodles the portions aren't that big. I reallt enjoued the salmon oshi. It was delicious.

Went in for a late lunch, once you get a table you go up to the counter to order. Then your food is brought to your table when it's ready. Small place, cute with garden chairs used as seating. We ordered some drinks before the food items and I got a latte and wifey ordered a matcha. Foodwise wifey ordered their special tray which came with an assortment of small bites plus one of the udons from their menu rotated daily. Plus sushi sampler for both of us to try. I ordered the miso pork udon... wifey went up to order and she got extra on my udon so it was more noodles. The flavors of all the items are strong and powerful. Very flavorful, my udon was strong and had plenty of umami flavor, though a must to eat with the udon as the sauce by itself is found a tad salty. But harmonious with the udon. The individual items on the sushi taster were all wonderful especially the oshi sushi. Each had a distinct taste profile and packed with flavor. The inari were huge and again flavourful. The salmon one had a dollap of creme fraiche/sour cream... which is found not necessary but it didn't imo add nor detract from it. Overall very good food.. Pierce price imo slightly more than I'd prefer but the food is of high quality and seemed to be made with care. I think we ordered a bit much as we were both full. Overall good meal. Definitely a try so go visit :)

We came here on a Thursday evening, and although it was busy, we got a table very quickly. This cozy restaurant had some amazing tasty dishes that definitely took us by surprise. My personal favourite was the salmon oshi and the pork and broth. The oshi was perfectly made, while the pork and broth shocked me with a ton of unexpected flavour! Can't wait to visit again!

Quaint spot offering affordable daily udon lunch sets. Sushi was delicious and fresh.

I heard so much about this place and finally got to try it. Located by the New Westminster bus loop, it is convenient to get to if you're taking transit. Paid parking is available in the skytrain station plaza and on the street. Free street parking is a few blocks away. I was going to try the sushi sampler which was what I kept seeing being posted but found out they have a daily tray "Kioku no shoku". Limited to 20 trays a day. So I got to try that instead. I always love makunouchi or shokudo and this is similar to it. It has a bit of everything. There are udon, rice bowl, tofu, salad, sushi, appetizer and pickles in the tray. The scallop mentaiko udon was good and I enjoyed the ahi tuna poke. The oshi sushi and seasonal salad were delicious. Everything was good. The seats are not the most comfortable, maybe RO discourage people from lingering. It is also licensed to sell alcoholic drinks here. I like that this place is not a sushi place. Instead it focuses on other Japanese food like udon and rice bowls.

Salmon Zukke Don? Solid 5/5. Texture and seasoning of salmon is top tier. Love the addition of the shiso leaf tempura. Might be being greedy but if the yolk to rice ratio had a sliightly bigger yolk it'd be my perfect ratio. Popcorn Prawn Fry 4/5 - these little tater tottin' guys are a fun addition to share for the table. Truffle Mushroom Noodles 3.5/5 - as a mushroom and udon enjoyer, this was alright but not sure whether I tasted the truffle as I slurped it down. I tend to avoid getting udon when eating out, but wouldn't mind giving it another try. Salmon Zukke carries this 5* review from me o7. Been here at least 5 times in the past year just for Salmon Zukke.

I would give this place a 3.5/5 I could. We came on a Saturday night and the place wasn't too full. You order at the counter and they bring you your food. We had the truffle udon, egg tofu sushi, futomaki, popcorn shrimp and mushroom. The truffle udon was my favourite out of the dishes. It was really creamy and had a good amount of truffle flavour. The popcorn shrimp could have been lighter. The shrimp was nice and snappy though. The futomaki was huge. It fell apart once I picked it up as it was so big. The flavours were not bad Overall I thought the service was really nice. The portions are okay for the price. It's worth a try if you like truffle udon

This place is my next favourite restaurant in New West! The staff are so friendly and accommodating, and the restaurant itself is so organized and cozy. I had the salmon steak, and I was given instructions on how to enjoy the meal. I was advised to take the bite of the salmon first before adding the broth. When I tell you I wanted to cry, I'm not exaggerating haha! The first bite was so delicious and memorable. The crunch and the density of the salmon was a perfect combination. Then, the broth just added the meal into a whole new level. Will I be visiting again this week to order the same thing? Yeah probably :)

First time eating here. We made a last minute decision to change our lunch venue and I am glad we did. We ordered the lunch tray for $23. I love the variety as it wasn't your typical Japanese lunch box. The restaurant is small so come early as the lunch try is limited to 20 per day. The food was good and definitely return again.

    AAA short rib steak

One of the most unique spots in New West. The food feels thoughtful and carefully made, not just another trendy place. Flavors are clean, balanced, and memorable. You can really tell they care about every detail. Definitely coming back.

I hardly comment but this place is amazing. Nearly every item is cooked to perfection. I called on Christmas to see if this place was open. Someone answered the phone even though it was closed. Nevertheless I visited the day after Christmas to enjoy a wonderful meal. We will be coming here again whenever I visit Vancouver. I hope this place thrives and receives recognition for its food. This place is definitely a hidden gem. Cheers!

The staff are genuinely friendly and attentive, and I've never felt pressured to hurry through a meal or give up the table. I took my parents there yesterday and they both ordered the chicken bento box. I was actually surprised by how much food they received. With restaurant prices being what they are these days, I thought it was very reasonably priced for the amount of food they were served, and they both really enjoyed their meals. I ordered a few different rolls, and every one of them was fresh and delicious. Another thing I appreciate about Sushi On is how clean and well cared for the restaurant is. We arrived just before opening and had to wait until the exact opening time before they let us in. Through the window, though, I could see the staff still busy cleaning and getting everything ready. I didn't mind waiting at all--in fact, I appreciated seeing that they weren't going to open the doors until everything was just right. Fresh food, generous portions, reasonable prices and genuinely friendly service. There's a reason Sushi On remains one of my favourites.

I really like their teishoku (set meal) options! I got a combo set that comes with both chirashi don and udon, plus a small side salad and three pieces of tempura for $27.95. The sashimi was super fresh, and even the salad greens were crisp with zero bad leaves. The rice in the chirashi don was delicious, it's sprinkled with a layer of furikake which makes it so easy to eat. The fish slices were a bit thin, but since you get 5 or 6 different kinds plus some fish roe, I can't complain. The presentation of the whole chirashi don was adorable, complete with a tiny edible (?) flower on top! The interior is super comfortable and feels spacious, even though seating is a bit limited. They were doing great business for lunch, literally packed the entire time! This was my first visit, but I definitely wouldn't mind stopping by again if I'm in the area to try their other dishes. Recommended!

We tried more of their cooked dishes and their special sushi didn't meet expectations. The salmon used in the sushi roll was off and I wished they created the roll with smoked salmon instead. Their unagi sauce didn't taste good and I likely would not recommend their sushi rolls with raw fish or sashimi for takeout. However, their hours of operation with no breaks and happy hour menu still make them a candidate for drinks and light bite. Perhaps stick to ordering items that they do well such as their deep fried poach egg dish.

This visit, I just got three things: a spicy California roll, an avocado roll, and miso soup. The avocado in both rolls was not fresh, and neither were the wasabi and ginger. The miso soup was way saltier than needed. I would give them one star, but the tea was good, the servers were working hard, and the service was fast. Although that might not be a good thing for a sushi restaurant and all lol So I'm giving them two stars. (Sorry if that's harsh) ~ Tobias H.
