I wanted to try a new brunch spot so this place up on yelp and I came here around 2pm on a Sunday and surprisingly there was still a wait! Parking around this area could be difficult, but luckily we got a spot. I would recommend Ubering or taking public transportation here. You just put yourself on the virtual waitlist and wait to get called. I liked the eggs Benedict, but I thought it was really overpriced. The Panini was also good along with the arugula it would be better if they had more dressing on the arugula though. The French toast was average and there happened to be a hair under the French toast. We tried to flag someone down to let them know, but the service here is not attentive and we sat at the bar too. I probably wouldn't go out of my way just to eat here.

Honestly might have just found my new favorite brunch spot. Don't come with a large group unless you're ready for a wait. Even for 2 people at 11:30am, the wait was around 30 minutes. But the wait is worth it. We each got a cocktail- I got this bourbon chai tea cocktail that was amazing and my friend got an espresso martini that she really enjoyed. We shared an order of the Swedish pancakes, I got the Chinese chicken salad, and she got the tuna melt. Everything was delicious. The Swedish pancakes are ADDICTIVE- great flavor and great texture. I was stuffed and still kept going back for more. The Chinese chicken salad is a contender for best salad in the city in my opinion. And the tuna melt was BIG and very flavorful. On other tables, many of the dishes we didn't order looked so good and I almost regretted not getting more (until I realized I was super full). I need to go back and explore the menu more. The staff were super friendly and helpful for recommendations. I will be back.

Swedish Pancakes and the Fried Chicken and Biscuits

Such a gem of a place! Came here for brunch with my girl friend and will definitely be returning more often. The place is located on Market street, as you walk in you pass the bar and a smaller seating area, we were seating in the dining room next to large windows that allowed the sunlight in on such a beautiful day. To drink I ordered a cappuccino which wasn't my favorite. I would prefer more foam as this one seemed a bit watered down or more similar to a latte. My friend had the nitro cold brew which I will definitely be ordering next time around. For food we ordered the pancakes for the table, absolutely delicious! Similar to crepes, had slight tang (possibly from yogurt?) and though soft they also had crispy edges. The custard and lingonberry compote complemented very well. I had the harvest bowl which came with sweet potatoes, mushrooms, pesto farro, arugula, tahini sauce and pickled red onions. Add on eggs and bacon. Was delicious, seasoned well and great option for someone looking for healthier alternatives. My friend had the fried chicken and biscuits (which I tried) and man oh man, I wish my health was good to order this as my main entree.... Maybe one day when I decided a cheat meal is needed. The chicken was crispy, seasoned perfect and juicy, biscuit was large and soft (not overworked at all). It came with a sweet and spicy glaze and herb butter that accompanied everything so well. All in all, such a wonderful spot and I reccomend it to anyone in the area for the day!

Excellent brunch and ambiance!! Swedish pancakes were amazing. Loved the custard sauce. The little spoon platter was good, potatos deff the star of the show!

We really enjoyed the food and drinks at Wooden Spoon. It was quite disappointing that they didn't have gluten-free bread on a few occasions when we visited. Please make sure they have gluten-free bread available so we can continue to patronize them. Thank you so much for your support!

No wait, no frills breakfast spot in Duboce with friendly service and standard breakfast fare. Upcharge for egg on the morning bowl was an unpleasant surprise but food came quickly and was packed with flavor. Would certainly come again with friends but won't be craving Wooden Spoon!

Chinese Chicken Salad

The Wooden Spoon is a gem. It has a great atmosphere for a weekend brunch, the staff is amazing, and the food was genuinely mind-blowing. We ordered the BLT, Chinese chicken salad, and heirloom tomato salad. Everything was solid, but I'd 110% get the BLT again (the focaccia bread is fantastic). Logistics-wise, there's a QR code outside that you scan to join the waitlist. We arrived around 12:30 PM on a Saturday and the est wait was 20 minutes, but we were seated in under 10 minutes (we didn't request a specific table and got seated at the bar).

I picked the Wooden Spoon for a visit randomly after looking at Yelp. We arrived and were seated after the hostess checked to make sure she had space for us. I found the menu interesting. There was an egg and fried oyster dish. I've never seen anything like it, so I tried it. Let's just say I don't think oysters go with eggs. Everyone else I was dining with enjoyed their food. The service was okay, not great but not poor. The restaurant was clean.

Walked in around noon last Friday - they were still serving breakfast and offered lunch items as well. Small crowd formed after we put our names down. It's in a great location - I've done yoga around the corner and gotten laser'd next door lol. We got seated in the corner counter (my ideal spot) above the kitchen. Swedish pancakes were delish, paired w/ 2 yummy sauces - a tart lemon curd or sweet lingonberry. Short rib hash was also really good and well portioned!! Would definitely come back to try their other items:) alcoholic drinks looked good too but we got the house coffee and oat milk chai latte which were standard.

Soft Scramble Eggs

I live close to Zazie, but I prefer Wooden Spoon for a breakfast outing. Their soft scramble plate is one of my favorite dishes in the city. It's simple, but well executed. I probably have it 2-3 times a month after I workout across the street at my gym or sometimes in the mornings if I'm in the area. Eggs, Salmon and Arugula are already everyday staples in my diet. They'll know me as the guy that always sits at the bar and requests this dish "light on the creme fraiche". I have a thing for sitting at bars due to eating sushi a lot and I like watching the staff prepare meals. To me it shows confidence in their protocols. The ambiance has a cozy and wooden decor vibe. They do a great job of keeping everything clean and maintained. The service is great as they're often on top of the simplest of details and sometimes they already know my order when I arrive. I've also enjoyed the Huevos Divorciados and they make good pancakes. I love this restaurant. It's simplicity as its best. PS: It can be very busy during peak times, so if you have a flexible schedule; go when it opens or after 1pm if possible for your first visit.

Soft Scrambled Eggs and Morning Bowl

Getting brunch with my friend, we decided on the Wooden Spoon! We'd both never been but were curious and love brunch. The restaurant is unassumingly spacious! Definitely cozy, with lots of wooden spoons, and vibes reminiscent of a modern diner. Super casual as well. There are multiple sections plus a bar. It's spaced out with tables for small parties as well as bar seating. Not many options for larger parties. We opted for a table and appreciated the service from all staff. We were checked on throughout, and everyone was kind! I got the Soft Scrambled Eggs to eat. These were so freaking good. I love soft scrambled eggs, and it was light and fluffy. Appreciated how much smoked salmon they gave. The flavors were on point, and the portion was generous and filling! My friend got the Morning Bowl and enjoyed her meal. There are lots of brunch spots in the city, and Wooden Spoon is a great one to try out! It's easy to miss, but not as busy as other spots, and still good. Find them off Market Street, with metered and free residential parking available nearby!

Hangtown Fry 100/10

Super clean and cozy place with friendly service. Our server TY was attentive and we didn't have to wait for anything. The food was delicious and the prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food. We ordered a latte, Bloody Mary, the big spoon, avocado toast, and hangtown fry. 100/10

The Spoon Cobb!
Lizzie L.

Table for two, please. Yes, we'd love to sit at the counter facing the cooking station. What a great choice! We had so much fun watching the cooks work their magic on the grill. Best seat in the house, except... you want to order everything because everything looks so good. We ordered the cheddar cheese grilled tuna melt and the Spoon Cobb to share. Good idea. The portions were just right. The plating, fresh and clean. The coffee hit the spot and was flavorful. Rachel our server was 5 stars plus and couldn't be any nicer. She was attentive and cordial. We were able to get the attention of one of the cooks and we gave him a thumbs up and in return, he gave us a smile. Couldn't ask for a better way to have brunch on a sunny Friday in the City. Thank you, Wooden Spoon, for making our day.

Excellent service! My only advice is to come and see for yourself. When we called to ask about a…read morewait, they mentioned there was not wait... part of the reason they do that is because they don't keep a list. You either have reservations or you're a walk in and you stand in line until a table is available for you. At first this was strange, but I think it makes for a better experience. The team was incredible, they were so kind on a day that can be stressful for a small restaurant. We had incredible food. I was so happy to get my Eggs Royale and my husband said the French toast was the best he's ever had. (Even comparing it to French toast in Paris) No notes. This will be our Mother's Day place going forward next time with reservations.

My partner and I decided to go to the city one weekend and decided we wanted brunch. After looking…read morethrough some place, we came across Sisterita and it looked very promising. It seems like this place is an asian fusion brunch place incorporating french dishes into thai/asian themed dishes which is up our alley. We made a reservation at 1:45 PM and we had to wait for about an extra 30 minutes before getting seated. Initially, I wanted to try their crab fried rice but unfortunately they were out of crab. We decided to get the Alcatraz Escape and the Brioche french toast which were recommended by the wait staff. The staff was generally friendly and accommodating but I can tell they were swamped and stressed out with all the people they were trying to serve. The food itself tasted decent, the Alcatraz Escape had a tasty flavor which incorporates tom yum paste (sweet, sour, tangy flavor) into their scramble with about 4 shrimps. The side of crispy chicken was good but nothing that stood out to us. The brioche was soft but there wasn't much flavoring besides the fruits and caramelized banana. It was served with evaporated milk which made the brioche soft but not adding much flavor to it. The price however was quite pricey. For two dishes as a side we paid around $78 with tax and tip.
