I have used Wolley Movers twice (Ramiro's crew last year, Freddy's crew this year) and was incredibly impressed both times. Not only do they work quickly and efficiently, but you cannot beat their price. They moved us out of a 3 bedroom home into another 3 bedroom home for slightly less than half of what we were quoted by a competing company. Denice gave us a great quote and was very professional and attentive in her communications with us and was a great point-person for the move. As a heads-up, you can provide your own tape if you would like (they need a ton, so we still had to buy some from them) and you are charged for wrapping items, although I think that is pretty standard for moving companies. Just ask all the questions about additional charges in advance; the final price was still well under what other companies would have cost and the movers were more than worth it. We will continue to use them whenever we move and highly recommend them to anyone. (Credit cards are accepted, but I believe the total has to be over $400). read more

I used Wolley Movers when I moved from Chicago to Milwaukee late last year. I moved from a studio to a studio so I didn't really have too much stuff, but the two guys I had were awesome. It was a younger guy and an older guy (I wish I remembered their names to recommend them) and they were very fast and efficient. I've been meaning to write this review for years! I've used Wolley Movers for my last 3? 4? moves...the last time being this past July. Booking has always been easy and pricing straight forward. The real factor is the actual movers who show up. Unfortunately, I don't remember the names of the guys that moved me this last time but they do deserve high fives for the awesome service. On time, prepared, exceedingly polite and busted a$$ to get it done. I've booked 2 different moves with Wolley Movers, both experiences have been great! The first time, I called Wolley to book a move 2 days before (which is really last minute to decide you want movers and most people were booked) but i'm so glad Wolley was able to make time for my little move. I was moving from a 1 bedroom apartment in Lincoln Park to the West Loop, was quoted 3 guys, and the 3 hour minimum. I knew my move was not going to take 3 hours since i had already packed everything myself so they agreed to give me 2 movers, Alejandro and Tony. The day came and they called to ask if they could come 30 minutes early, which was not a problem with me. Once they got to my place, looked at what i had, and the best way to move things in and out and got straight to work. I moved into an elevator building so the unloading was much quicker than the loading but they got it done, with the commute in just over an hour and a half! I was shocked but was so happy and didn't mind paying for the 3 hour minimum because they could've taken the full time but i'm assuming once they're done with my move they can get to the next one and be done early for the day. Also really appreciated them being very careful unloading and moving my stuff into my new place since if you've moved into a condo building before, you know the damage deposit is pretty high, and is only refunded if you don't ding up the walls. The second time was when my boyfriend and i moved from West Loop to Old Town. This time i brooked almost a month in advance, we got Ronald (and someone else who's name wasn't on the receipt, sorry i can't remember!) Anyways, pretty much the same experience, except this time we had double the stuff and it did take 3 hours. They were still quick and efficient, i just had a few more things that needed shrink wrapping and more furniture and boxes. Also something to note, we moved from one condo building to another and the woman on the phone suggested we take the first time slot of the day (9am) to prevent any delays to meet our move out/ in windows for each building. We got pretty lucky that our buildings had the availability but i appreciated the advice when i called to book this move. I will definitely be calling Wolley again for my next move. read more

The details: I got an estimate via e-mail to move a studio apartment 1.5 miles in Chicago. It was for $380 and included everything except tape according to the written estimate. The movers showed up on time and the one who spoke English went over the cost of the move. He said that the estimate I had for $380.00 did not include transportation, gas or labor costs. I told him that it was my understanding that the estimate did include those things as there was a line on the estimate form that said "1. truck 3/men $95/hour" and a line that said "Travel TIME $95.00" I then said that since there were only TWO men, not THREE present that I would expect the cost of the $95/hour to be for two men not three." I said I understood there would be an additional charge for tape and that the estimate was an estimate based on an assumed amount of labor hours that could fluctuate in reality - but that it DID include Travel time and Labor. I showed him the estimate where those items were outlined with a dollar value. He then said that he could leave and I could call the office on Monday or I could pay the fees he was going to charge in cash and they would move my things. He said that there was no one at the office for me to call at that time since it was Sunday. Since it was Sunday - and the fees were affordable - even with his mark up (another moving company bid the job at $500)- AND I had no option since I needed to be out of my old apartment that day, I agreed. I just wanted my things moved to our new home. I did not want to argue with someone who did not really speak English that well about a few dollars. So I told him to go ahead. In fairness - they did a fine job with the physical move - nothing damaged. They worked at a fair speed. I have no complaints about their physical work. After everything was moved and we were going over the price the mover who spoke English took out a legal pad and wrote the figure $380 at the top of it. He then added in $50 GAS $100 PACKAGING $20 TAPE $14 BOXES and said the total we owed was $564. I did not have the $4.00 on me so he said $560 was fine. My partner then gave him and his co-worker a $20 each tip for a total cost to us of $600.00 At that point the mover said "hey guys - let me do something. Are you happy with how we worked? Did we make a good job?" We said yes. He then took out an official form and filled it out at a total cost of $380.00 and asked us to sign it. I should not have signed it - but it was very awkward having these two movers standing in our new home "asking" us in a very blunt tone to sign the document. I felt intimidated by them so I did sign it. Then the mover said "This way my partner and I get some money out of this since we are the ones who did the work." This meant that the company thoguht the job was done for the amount of the estimate and the movers personally kept $110 each. The company was responsive to my complaint and terminated the employees who behaved in this way. They also refunded us $50 for our troubles. At first I rated this company with one star - but after Emily from their office called and made things right, I am very satisfied with the quality of this company. Any company can have a problem - but how they respond to it is what makes them a good place to do business or not. This company supports its customers and fixed the problem. Therefore at the end of the day - they get 4 stars from me. read more

I booked Wolley for my move 2 weeks ago and could not have been more disappointed. I have worked with them for 2 previous moves and they did a great job. I will never be booking them again. We were given an estimate that our move should take about 3-4 hours. On move day, they sent 3 men for a 2 bedroom apartment. Denise with Wolley wrote down that we only had a 1 bedroom, even though I had email confirmation that we had a 2 bedroom. The men spent the first 45 minutes just debating with us how they couldn't get the move done with only 3 guys. We didn't really have another option, so they finally got started. The move ultimately took SIX hours. Our estimate on cost was 440 dollars and the move wound up costing $1200! The also wrapped EVERYTHING, even items that didn't require wrapping, which they charged us even more for. Not only did the move go WELL over the estimated time, but they also broke a mirror. I called Wolley twice to try and resolve this issue, and both times they said they would get back to me. They never did. They said management has been busy every time. I will never work with them again and I will no longer refer my friends to them. I was a loyal customer. BEYOND DISAPPOINTED. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! read more

Well, the got the job done. The packing job was not very good, a couple of things broke (thank goodness only small things). They didn't label the boxes as we asked them to, or just wrote "kitchen" on every single box. Given that we had almost 80 boxes, it made unpacking a nightmare. I couldn't find anything! My toothbrush was in the kitchen box of course, as were all my clothes. And the kitchen stuff was on the bedroom box. Frustrating. For my 1 BR 795 sq ft condo it took 12 hours and cost $1535 (some boxes, tape, packing material included - I bought most of my own for cheaper at Home Depot). read more

I wasn't ready to pay a rival moving company the $400 quoted, so I asked Wolley for an estimate and it came in at $280. And that was with about one week's notice. My move was scheduled for Friday afternoon, but the crew was delayed due to unforeseen circumstances earlier in the day. When they arrived around 6:30 pm, they wasted no time in packing the truck. It began to rain as they were unloading, but they carefully protected my clothing and took extra care with my belongings. Even tho I was allotted 3 hrs, they finished in 2 hrs. I've used Wolley's each time I've moved. They've been great. Very efficient & affordable. I've had a different crew each time, but know that some people request a certain crew each time. I don't pack things very well & I haven't had any issues w/ broken items. They've also successfully moved an antique desk w/o any issues. If I move again in the city I will use them again. read more

First off, upon the arrival Miguel says this will be a $900 job. I said wow before getting started, he says that's what they have to do before they start so I said ok. I had all boxes in the living room ready to go out the garage, 2 TVs on the wall in which they almost forgot to take leaving them to use my moving blankets that were not returned. He gave me 2 of your blankets that were not of quality of mine. I'm a previous customer so I assumed the move would be similar, wrong. I had pictures lined up against the wall in one place and was told they should be in boxes and that they couldn't take them like that. I said the movers last time wrapped the pictures together and moved them in which is the reason I had them all in one place. Needless to say I had to move all of my pictures in my vehicle along with 2 vases and a wind chime I had to take down myself. They used an entire role of my wrap for my items and I think charged me for my wrap on the invoice. I explained when I made the appointment I had a bed with poles that would need to be taken down and reassembled. The bed and baby crib was the only items to take down. The couch was separated with boxes in the living room ready to go. Miguel kept complaining about my bed to the point I asked if this is something you can't do let me know. I informed him that I stressed to the scheduler the make of my bed when making the appointment and was told there was no problem. It didn't seem to be a problem and they actually put the bed back together pretty fast. The move came to $923 and I was asked about a tip because they put my bed back together. I gave $60 then Miguel said he was expecting more so I gave $140.00. When speaking to someone else I was told I should not have given a tip especially that much for the bed to be reassembled that's their job and they should not have used your plastic wrap, plastic mattress pad ($40 purchased from Home depot) nor your moving blankets. I should have had a man present during the move but I didn't. I just wanted to let you know I feel taken advantage of and hope this doesn't happen to another single woman. read more

they are good except they should be a little more careful with bumping and dinging furniture. i had a few small bumps and dings from an office move. i agree with the other posters that they need to improve in this regard. otherwise a good servive, and reasonably priced. they are good at shrinkwrapping furniture, so you should have them do this to all of your furniture that you want to arrive unchanged. read more

I wanted to take a moment & leave a review on my recent experience with Wolley Movers. For starters, about 3 weeks ago, I began my search for a local moving company & decided YELP would be a good starting point. So, I sent out a basic request for a quote back. The very next day, probably less than 12hrs, I was contacted & provided a reasonable quote for our moving date of May 1st. $475 for a 3 person moving crew, a 24ft truck, all for a 3hr minimum ($50 deposit to hold the reservation, but you can apply that $50 to to grand total). I felt this pricing was fairly reasonable considering they would load & unload everything & wrap any valuable/fragile items (like my 80" Vizio HDTV). The crew of 3 movers arrived @ 2:30pm. When they schedule you for the moving day, they give you a 2hr window of when the crew will arrive (mine was 1p-3p). The moving crew started right away with getting everything loaded into the truck. I gave very basic instructions on what boxes & furniture needed to be packed & what delicate/fragile items needed to be wrapped in blankets & tape (which they provide). The moving crew (Ramiro, Eddy & Delan) worked quickly & efficiently to load our belongings. Everything was packed in the truck & ready to go in about 1hr 15 min. With the 20min drive to the new place, they had a little over an hour to get everything unloaded which they did with time to spare! *Bonus* Manners count! On separate occasions, I had a couple of the movers ask me direct if they could use the bathroom. I think attention to details like that matter when someone is in your personal space. I felt it was a respectable gesture on their part. Kudos! The tip I gave the moving crew, when it came time to settle up, was well deserved! Wolley Movers were recommended to me by a law firm that had used them on numerous occasions throughout the Chicago-land area. Unfortunately I could not have been less pleased. They showed up over an hour late to the move; I initiated calling to see where they were and if they needed help with directions or anything, they did not take this initiative and made-up excuses. This overlapped the cleaning company that was coming in after them, as well as caused me an additional late checkout fee from the apartment complex. It also made us late to the new site. The estimate was less than half of what they charged, even though it should have been extremely accurate, since I literally went item by item through my residence and told them exactly what was moving. Partway through unpacking at the new place, their battery supposedly broke on the truck for about an hour and a half. They chose to sit in the truck on their cell phones doing nothing throughout this time, I was charged the full rate for all three movers for the entire time. So many pieces of furniture were broken, rendered useless and had to be thrown out, decorations were shattered and more nicks, dents and scratches than I would be able to count on the leather and wood of the various furniture pieces they ruined. I had hoped that working with an 'insured' moving company would be a far more respectable experience. Next time we will be going back to Two Men and Truck, which had been incredibly efficient and reliable in the past, or another moving company, but not Wolley Movers. read more

Wolley Movers performed all the basics (e.g. explaining their process with home inspection a month or so prior to actual move, calling prior to reconfirm, etc.). Everyone knows moving can be stressful. The actual movers who do the work are clearly 99% of the results, and Juan and his team appeared on move day right on time and were super professional and did not ding any of the walls in my condo building moving out of the old, nor into the new 90-miles away (and I have at least two items that could easily have led to this happening due to their size and weight). We used Wolley Movers for our recent move after a coworker recommended them and we couldn't have been happier. They were on time, fast, professional, took extra care with our items and told us every step of the way if they were going to charge us extra for furniture wrapping or pads. The charges for those supplies were extremely reasonable as well and they didn't use an inch more wrapping than they needed to. We moved during a horrible rainstorm and none of our items were water damaged either b/c of the wrapping. Also, when unloading into our new condo, they were very careful not to get our floors or carpets dirty. They put down pads and flat boxes to avoid their wet shoes getting our new, clean apartment messy. I would recommend. I was moving just a few items from one high rise to another just 5 blocks away. I took a cab from the one location to the other, which took 8 minutes. The movers left at the same time but took 2.5 HOURS because of traffic. They arrived at the new building with only 5 minutes left of my scheduled elevator time. While there were road closures due to parade, I told them the route to take (which had gotten me there quickly) but they didn't take it, and instead sat in traffic (supposedly) for 2.5 hours. They didn't charge me for the extra time but suggested that I should "tip" them to make up for it, even though they could have finished the job in an hour had they not been "stuck in traffic" for most of the time. I did give a generous tip but was not thanked. Everything worked out in the end and my furniture made it safely but it didn't go smoothly. read more

This movers were super fast. I was amazed at their strength! I feel they could have been a little more careful. At the end they asked for more tip. It was very awkward. I gave them more and they told me what their "normal" tip is, so I had to give more money, which was more than I felt I should be tipping. They wanted 20% each. read more

There's the good part of the story and the stupid part of the story. If you've got a short attention span like I do: just hire these guys. They're great. The good: I shopped 4 companies and Wolley had the most aggressive hourly rate. That had me concerned. You get what you pay for usually. I compared their price for accessorials, size of truck, etc and couldn't really find the catch. So I went on Yelp and took a leap of faith based on their good reviews. On the day of the move they kicked ass-they had the same energy on hour eight as they did on hour one. It was six guys and they all busted their butts. They were careful with my stuff and didn't need supervision. The stupid: When they were done, I paid the bill and gave the foreman one lump tip to be divided equally amongst each member of the crew. I told them all the amount and we shook hands and parted ways and I considered it a well executed move. An hour later, I reached into my pocket and found the money I thought I had given to them as a tip. It turns out, after an exhausting day, I handed over money from the wrong enveloped and had way over-tipped them. I had given them 600 dollars more than I intended as a tip! Like an idiot, I didn't have a phone number beyond their office number and resigned myself to never seeing that money again. I left a message on their office voice mail and left it on the lap of the gods. The next day, Eddie, my foreman called and after two other calls, I drove to their office and picked up my money. Who does that? I cannot believe the move went as well as it did and what's more, I can't believe I got that money back. You can count on these people. read more

Ok, I called and booked Wolley for 9/29 between 8-9am. The movers did show up at about 8:15 and started moving my stuff at 8:30. They were fast and efficient, the problems came in after we got to my new location. 1)They did not reassemble the furniture that was taken apart at my old apartment. 2) I was promised 5 wardrobe boxes, only one was provided (because of this, since I didn't have any more boxes, I ended up having to pay for another company to provide me with wardrobe boxes so that I could move my family's clothes!!! This was very important considering I had to go to work and the kids had to go to school on Monday!) 3) When it came time to pay, I proceeded to give them my credit card and although it says on their website and the person I talked with over the phone to book the move time/date, the movers told me that I needed to pay cash! This then required a mad dash to the bank to make a withdrawal! On top of this, after they received the cash payment, they then asked me "what are you going to give us for a tip?" I then told the mover that I didn't have any more cash, he then told me that I could pay the tip using a credit card!!!! Taking into consideration that I was already under stress because of the move, these 3 issues did not help the situation at all! It would have been really helpful if I had been told these things right at the beginning when I was booking the appointment. I've tried to contact the company and have not heard anything back from them at all. So far, I really can't recommend them at all. UPDATE: I have finally gotten in touch with someone from Wolley Movers. They did apologized for the inconveniences we have worked out a resolution for the issues that I had with the company. read more

We've used Wolley on three moves and had GREAT experiences. Their estimates are fair, their crews are on time, work efficiently and for the most part, are careful. In this last move, however, we had a antique dresser top damaged which we didn't know until after the crew had left. Other boxes and items were stacked next to and in front of it in our garage, curiously. One piece out of hundreds isn't too bad, though what was disheartening was instead of admitting something had been damaged, it was hidden and no one had the courtesy to speak up. We would still choose Wolley and recommend them! read more

Wolley could not have been more accommodating and nice. The crew showed up on time and they were professional, efficient and very careful with my things. After going through at least 5-6 moving company to get quotes and searching Yelp, I decided on Wolley and I am glad I did. The customer service prior to my move was wonderful. Very friendly and polite. The day of my move (5/12/2012), they were scheduled to arrive at 9:00am. They were actually 15 minutes early! Joe and Luis were very friendly, professional and on top of that had a great sense of humor. The price and time I was quoted for my 3 seperate moves was spot on!
