Setting up the move was very smooth, Eric and his crew were very fast and my truck was packed in half the time quoted. When I arrived, I noticed that a lot of my furniture was scratched because the movers had packed the truck fairly carelessly. Stay away!! We hired Wolley to move us from our house back to a condo that we moved out of two years ago. On top of being very unprofessional, they took far longer & were 30% more expensive than our last move. On the list of issues: 1. Initial quote was $560. Final bill was $1,100. 2. On the phone we agreed that 3 movers would suffice. They showed up with 4 people & tried to upsell a fourth person. After being told numerous that I was wrong, the 4th person became a 'supervisor', just sitting on a stool costing money and not doing any work. 3. Given that we were moving from a house to a condo, we had put approximately 1/4 of our possessions in storage before they showed up. Still, it took them three hours longer than when we moved from the condo into the house! The pace became distinctively slower when the 'supervisor' took his stool. 4. They broke our television, and immediately told us it was our fault because the TV was 'old'. We were assured by the team on site that the office would take care of the matter. The people at the office then accused us of trying to 'upgrade' & get a new TV when all we asked for was the value of the old one! Never again will we use Wolley movers. There are too many other honest & reputable companies out there to deal with these kind of people. Good riddance. read more

Everyone was incredibly personable--it felt like having friends move our home instead of strangers. No damage to any of our items, walls, or doors. This review is a year late, but as I was looking for a new moving company for this year I came across these guys again. I moved on September 1, 2011 from Wrigleyville to Lincoln Park. I had these guys scheduled to show up at 8AM, they showed up at 11:30 and took another half hour to figure out how to park the truck on the street. They were quick to move my stuff out of my first floor walkup into the truck. In the process they broke 2 picture frames, scratched my leather couch, and dented my coffee table and dining room table. Since they showed up so late I had to reschedule my elevator time at the high-rise I was moving into. The move didn't end until about 7PM, that's 11 hours to move a 1 bedroom down the street. The guys were nice, but I would rather hire d-bags who show up on time and move things carefully than a couple of PCGs who are incompetent. I would never use these guys again. read more

Thankfully Wolley was able to move us at the last time slot on Saturday evening. Even though it was late in the day, the 3-man crew showed up eager and on time. My wife and I had our closing delayed twice and, after the last time, we couldn't use our first choice of movers as they had no open time slots available. We had not been completely packed and they managed everything and still got my condo packed up and into the truck in 2.5 hours. They took extra care with the new hardwood floors in our new home. I never thought I would say I had a wonderful moving experience, but thanks to Wolley, I can! They showed up right on time, and the guys were already running around moving before we'd even finished the meet and greet. They were so full of energy and really efficient and strong, taking huge loads at a time and going back and forth as fast as they could. They were very friendly and went straight to the new place instead of taking a long break as I've experienced with movers in the past. They were so helpful and conscientious about putting the boxes in the correct rooms and moving things around that we needed moved. Everything showed up in mint condition. After some recommendations and shopping around online we settled on Wolley Movers. Eddys crew got to the house on time and hit the ground running. I lived in an old 1,000 sq ft Chicago house built in the 40's which leaves little room for maneuvering around corners. These guys handled everything with no damages to the walls or furniture. Everything was wrapped and taped so that it wouldn't be damaged in transit. If it weren't for the major 3 car accident on 55 we would have come under the estimate. It's all good though because they were able to do the entire job in 5 hours which would have taken me at least 10 with a lot more damaged walls and furniture. read more

After Starving Artist Movers left me in the dust (see my review for them), I booked Wolley's. I was a little nervous that they were available only four days before my Labor Day Friday move---aren't all the good movers already booked by then?---but these guys worked hard. I paid $105/hr for four guys, three hour minimum, plus $85 for the truck. I also tipped them very well, so it got pretty pricey, but it was on par with what other movers charge, and there's no way I could have done it myself. And they brought a 17' truck, which was great--plenty of room. I moved a one bedroom's worth of furniture from a second-floor walkup in Hyde Park to a third-floor walkup Ravenswood, and they did it in about 3 1/2 hrs, including travel time. I wouldn't necessarily recommend Wolley's if you have a lot of nice stuff---they were careful when I asked them to be, and they did a great job of packing and securing the truck, but their primary goal was to work hard and work fast. They strapped two or three huge boxes to their back and carried them up three flights of narrow, winding stairs. They did drop a Container Store bookshelf down three flights of stairs into the alley, and they did not knock anything off the total price. It should be noted, however, that I signed a waiver to that effect, so they weren't obligated to pay for it (although it would have been nice!). My boyfriend and I moved in together recently and after my experience with the moving company I used, (see previous review) he decided to go with Wolley. We had a good experience. The movers showed up exactly at the time they said they would and the move happened in 2.5 hours. Ronald and his team were professional and friendly. I would definitely recommend them for any move. Great! Great! Great! Made a move date at the last minute. No problem. "Rob's Crew" came, on Sunday, no inflated Sunday rate. They worked their asses off, and were extremly fast, and were just very cool and positive people. I loved them. My stuff was in a disarray and they could care less. They just threw it all together and wrapped it up and hauled ass. Everything arrived safely. Rob also charged me a half-hour extra instead of trying to milk and extra hour. Well -- they got huge tips and lunch. My only complaint is that they helped themselves to juice from my fridge, used my son's thermos as a cup, and left the bottle open on the counter. But hell, with the hard work they were doing, they had the right to let loose a little. read more

I used them because the prices were fair and the guy who called me was super nice and helpful. I called to confirm about a week early and they had the wrong date. They went ahead and changed the date to the day I was moving. Every was going fine until they ripped the front of my chair. I mentioned this to them and they acted like it was already ripped...it wasn't. I was told it would take 2-3 hrs and it took 4. Overall not a horrible experience BUT I am moving again in a few weeks and wil probably go with a different company. It not worth the savings. read more

I don't have the time to go into details right now but they provided good customer and moving/packing service- we were satisfied with their work. Pros: Out of state move to Chicago (3br house) same day Flat fee Free unlimited blankets Pretty much on time, called an additional man for the unload when arriving in Chicago later than expected Cons: Used tape instead of free blankets Will not accept checks, and extra fee for using credit card Other: Boxes marked "fragile" loaded with little regard for fragility A couple boxes of broken knick-knacks (I think these are common to all moving companies, and don't necessarily hold it against them) Despite the extra charge for credit card and the extra fee for their tape use, the total ended up being pretty close to the flat fee I was quoted. Maybe there was some behind-the-scenes math done to make that work, but I didn't feel taken advantage of. I would use them again, certainly. read more

I heard about Wolley movers from a friend who recommended them for my recent move in July. I decided to go with another company because they were less expensive so I called Wolley to cancel my reservation in the adequate amount of time they asked to receive a full refund for my deposit. I've had to call back 3 times to get my deposit refunded back to me. It's been over 3 weeks. I would never use the services here due to lack of communication and just plain poor customer service. When I asked why my deposit wasn't refunded before, the representative told me she didn't know, that she didn't have that information. I've never experienced this from any other moving company. You guys were quick to take my deposit initially, but you're taking your time refunding it back. I'm still waiting at this time for my deposit. Customers beware. read more

Booked for Sunday, they called to confirm. Then they called back an hour later tonsee if we were available today within the next hour. I was out and scrambling. Let me call my husband to see if we can make happen. He said yes. Once confirmed I called right back in less than 5 minutes. The lady confirmed and said they would be there by 2 pm. I said 2:30 pm if possible she said okay they will try to get between that time. Pay cash onsite. Okay cool. Around 3:30 pm called again to see where guys where. She said they have to keep the normal appointment now as they are not finish. Huh? We ran home to hurry up and move stuff around to be ready in an hour. No one called me or anything. She said we are sorry just like that. So i asked for a discount she said they can't do that since I didn't confirm. Even though they called me I did call back and confirm the change they requested because it was going to be cold tomorrow. Not my fault you didn't know it woukd be cold you confirmed and I paid a deposit. But you never called to let me know you couldn't now I had to call you. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! This is not how you handle business. They were a bit cheaper than H2H Movers which I am going with. They were my original choice then this one confirmed for cheaper. read more

These guys were great. I had a hard time finding movers because I waited until a week before my move (yeah yeah I know) but they ended up being able to help me out on a Sunday morning. The guys were 10 minutes early and they took care of everything. They were fast and we were moved out of my tiny one bedroom apt within an hour and a half. We moved up to Lincoln Square and the guys were really accommodating. They rearranged my furniture for me like three times and the guy was able to help me arrange some of the heavier items that I wouldn't be able to do on my own. The whole move took almost four hours and with tip, I paid $320. What a deal! I didn't have to do a single thing. My only complaint was I tipped them each $30 and they looked kind of disappointed. Was I supposed to tip them more? The first move was all elevator and the second move was like 5 stairs. And it wasn't hot out either. I'd recommend them to my friends though. Great service, nothing was damaged, and way cheaper. read more

I recently hired this company to move me less than 5 miles. I don't have a lot of furniture but needed some help moving. I was given an initial estimate at the time I booked their service, but in the end the company double the estimate 10 times! I used Wolley Movers again for a move I did a couple months ago, and it was a much worse experience than the first time around. They did manage to arrive on time and finished in a reasonably quickly though. However, the crew was unfriendly, and incredibly careless with our furniture and walls. We were constantly reminding them over and over again to stop setting heavy boxes on things that were obviously breakable, and we ended up with a few gouges in our walls. They made my first pro moving experience a good one. Their availability was excellent - when I gave "the sooner, the better" as my moving date, they offered to do it the next morning. Or the following morning, if I preferred. The movers were fast and motivated. Various small items that I planned to move manually once the place was empty got boxed up and loaded before I had noticed. They said those things were few enough to drop any packaging fees. In the end, the move was an hour shorter than I predicted and the final cost was right in the middle of the price window that they told me to expect. read more

I contacted Wolley Movers because of their great reviews on Google and Yelp. They provided an estimate within minutes and gave me the best deal compared to the handful of other companies I contacted. They had no problem scheduling my Sunday move from Palatine to Lisle with only a few days notice and nicely answered any questions I had. I hired 3 guys and a truck for 3 hours to move my 1 bedroom apartment. On the day of the move, they called to say they would be able to arrive a few hours earlier than scheduled. I already had my things boxed up for the most part so I took them up on it. When they arrived, they instantly got to work. These guys have amazing skills and they're FAST. As a designer and a lover of stuff, I had A LOT of boxes and furniture for them to load. They wrapped and taped up furniture in moving blankets well. They wrapped up lose shelves from dressers I never thought to dismantle. These guys were carrying whole pieces of furniture by themselves and 4 boxes at a time. It was amazing. They had the apartment emptied in just over an hour while I relaxed outside with the dog and kept out of their way. These guys are moving fast so wrap your fragile stuff very well and/or transport it yourself. I moved my vases, antique glass drink ware, and plants in my car. Not a big deal. The guys handled a lot of other fragile boxes and everything survived the move in one piece. There was a 45 minute drive to my new apartment (which was part of the 3 hour estimate) and then they had the truck unloaded in another hour. They did a great job and handled all of my belongings well. I appreciated that they asked where I wanted my furniture placed but unfortunately I didn't have that figured out yet! I recommend having a plan if you're moving by yourself or won't have a friend available to help you position furniture later. In the end, I was all moved into my new place around the time they guys were originally scheduled to start my move. Because of this, I was able turn in the keys to my old apartment a day early. This saved me another trip and another afternoon stuck in traffic. In my opinion, Wolley Movers was worth every penny. They saved me so much time, stress, and exhaustion. This was my first experience hiring movers and I'll definitely hire them again for my next move. read more

I have never written a review on Yelp before. But, I also have never been treated so badly by any company before. Do not ever use Wolley Movers. This review goes out to Mike: I hope that you lose business this summer! 2 weeks before moving, I started calling movers to get a good quote. I talked to Mike from Wolley movers, and he seemed really friendly. He sent me a quote, which was around the same as all other movers. I also got about 10 other quotes. I ended up going with a different moving company, just because they are more well known. The day before my scheduled move, Mike from Wolley Movers called me up to confirm my move. I had never told him that we were going with him, and in fact, had not had any interaction with him except to get a quote. On the phone he got progressively more angry during our conversation. I told him the name of the company that I had chosen, and tried to stay polite. I had had the same conversation with about 5 other moving companies (although no others showed their anger), so thought nothing of his angry responses. I just figured he was upset because he was counting on my move, but I assumed that he would get over it. I was very wrong. The next day, I called the moving company that I had signed up with to confirm the move. They told me that someone had called the day before, pretending to be me, and had cancelled my move. The new moving company said that they had confirmed my name, addresses, and phone number with the caller. All of this was information that I had given to Mike at Wolley movers. So, although I cannot prove that this was Mike, I am certain that no other person would impersonate me to cancel a moving truck. read more

I got a quote from them because they came highly recommended from a friend. Their quote came in $200 less than the company I had used the last time so I booked the move with them on a Sunday between 1-3pm. I got a call around 11 asking if they could come sooner and I said noon would work. When they shoulded up a little after noon it was a different company! They came to the front with a truck (so big that my stuff didn't even fill it halfway) after I had requested alley pick up. They also showed up with one additional person than on the quote. They head guy said he would guarantee they would get it done in three hours with the 4th guy so I said yes and signed the sheets. It took them two hours to load the truck and there were long periods of time where no one was coming in or out of the apartment. They then proceeded to go to the WRONG address. I got a call after about 30 min, my new place is a 7 min drive from my old place, and was told they couldn't find my place. I gave them the correct address and they showed up about 20 min later. I called to complain after I got of the phone with the movers and the manager said he would get in contact with them and get back to me. I told him I wasn't paying for this time. Two of the guys were great, putting things where the boxes were labeled, putting the mirror on my dressor and the top of the hutch on the bottom. One of the guys just dumped stuff at the front door and the head guy was in the truck the entire time. The movers finally finished a little before 5pm. I told the head guy I was not going to pay for the time they were going to the wrong address and he said he took 15 min off. I said that was not long enough and so he would only take off 30 min. By this time I just wanted them out. I signed the paper and said I was calling to complain. I called to complain on Tuesday and I spoke with the same guy I had called to complain to during the move. I explained all the issues that I had had; different company, took their time, went to wrong address and charged me for a wardrobe even though I moved all my hanging clothes my self. He said he was sorry and that he would speak with them and get back to me. Well a week later I still haven't heard from them. So they may have my money, but I have told everyone that I came across in the last week what horrible service I received. And so they won't get their money. read more

The team that arrived was great! We ordered a king size mattress, and the team from the delivery company couldn't get it up the stairs. They offered me no alternatives except to either 1. leave it in the back yard and get friends to help lift it to our back porch; or 2. Hire someone else to do that delivery. I opted for #2 with Wolley. The team went to the warehouse, got the mattress, and brought it here. They had it in our apartment in less than 10 minutes. The team was courteous and respectful. I'm sorry I had to spend the extra money to get the job done, but Wolley was worth it. read more

I moved today and let me tell you that the two seasoned movers, Gerardo and Miguel were top notch! They arrived on time and moved all of my belongings in an hour! Let me mention that they were moving me out of a studio ( ~500 square feet) and the total price came to 280.00!! That's a total steal compared to 2 guys and a truck, professional movers, who quoted my estimate to be 500-800!! Are you kidding me for a studio?! Rob and his crew did a wonderful job with our recent long-distance move. Although we were moving two states away, Wolley was able to complete the entire move within one day--which, as far as I can tell, is unheard of with most long-distance moving operations. They also beat the next-lowest quote I got by $2,000, and didn't go a penny over the estimate when it came time to pay. The office coordinator gave me a flat rate for the truck I chose, and although I wasn't entirely certain what size truck I'd need, she didn't try to push me into a more expensive option. In the event, the crew was able to fit all our stuff into the smaller truck even though we'd failed to get rid of some furniture I'd hoped to ditch before the move. All of our houseplants even survived the trip, which hasn't always happened on in-town moves! With any move, you're probably going to have some human error, and ours wasn't entirely flawless. For some reason, the crew thought our move was scheduled to start one hour later than the time I'd confirmed with the office. (Honestly, this was no problem; it gave us more time to clean and tie up loose ends.) And a few of our smaller items had minor damage afterward--but we don't own anything terribly valuable, and would have wrapped things more thoroughly if we'd been worried.
