We were visiting some friends in the tri-city area and headed over to Prosser for a Sunday late lunch. My friends heard good things and I was all game to check it out. The place was dead. The hostess couldn't count. There were 6 of us and an empty table for 6 inside and she said we'd have to sit outside...in the 100 degree heat. Uhm, we pointed to the empty table for 6 inside and she said, "oh, yeah, I guess that is available". I think we had at least 3 different servers...like one couldn't do the job alone even though there was hardly anyone else in there. The food was definitely delicious. We ordered a variety of pizzas, main dishes, and the goat cheese appetizer w/berries - yum. My friends agreed it was good as well, but they concluded that it wasn't good enough to warrant a 30 min drive. The white wine flight was good too. Similar to a lot of the other reviews, our complaints lie mostly with the service. Airhead hostess, 3 different servers, and my biggest complaint was an automatic 18% gratuity added for 6 people. And then, they refused to split the bill. What the hell, I know you must have the technology to split the bill, but they refused. Such a simple task and it really annoyed me that they wouldn't do it. It's not like they were too busy to do it either, I think there were only 2 or 3 other tables in the whole place. Annoying. So I've been there, done that. I had been waiting for a chance to visit the Prosser area specifically to try this place out, and it definitely exceeded the hype! Great selection of wines and wine flights, delicious food. Pros: cozy atmosphere, bustling kitchen within sight but still quiet and calm in the dining area. Great food--hot, flavorful, perfectly cooked. Cons: this would have been 5 stars, but because of two small things, I can't give it 5 stars in good faith. First, we had a reservation, but were not seated until 30 minutes after our reservation time. Understandable, we had a later reservation and the previous table was taking a long time, but our only option was to wait outside, and it was pretty cold--don't know what would happen in the winter. Second, we ordered 2 desserts and could see the cheesecake waiting on the bar by the kitchen while the other was being prepared. One of the chefs walked up to it, and pinched off some of the topping in plain sight of the entire restaurant! We think he had a gloved hand (but he was also closing things down and no idea what he was touching previously), but why not use a spoon or do it out of sight of customers? It wasn't a dealbreaker (we discussed cancelling our cheesecake order and explaining why, but we really wanted the cheesecake...), but it was weird, unprofessional, and made us super uncomfortable. It would have been easy to just use a utensil, or bring it down to the counter behind the bar where no one could see. The cheesecake was still super delicious, but it felt less good because it arrived with a clear pinch-mark from his fingers and we couldn't get it out of our minds. If I'm going to watch someone touch the food I am going to be served, I want to know that their hands are relatively clean. Just do it out of sight next time!! read more

We almost didn't go because of the silly name, but that would have been too bad. A couple of people told us this is the best food in the area, and I bet they are right. We went in with no reservation on a very busy night. They told us they could seat us, but our food would take a while because they had 7 tables in front of us. Having no other real options, we said ok. We had a goat cheese fondue (YUM) and some wine flights to tide us over. Their wine is fantastic! We also ordered two pizzas - the pear bacon one (several people told us to get this and it was tasty), and a spicy salumi one. Both were delicious. We love coming everytime we are staying at the RV park nextdoor. It is best to make a reservation to ensure you get in. Nice building and property next to several wine tasting rooms. They also have wine tastings at the restuarant. The staff are friendly and the food is superb! We enjoy the gourmet pizzas. My only observation through the years is it can be very frustrating when you enter without a reservation and you see many open tables and you are told that they are busy and it will be an hour plus wait. This is why I say to make a reservation! Can't say enough good stuff. This place isn't cheap but not expensive. I find it priced right. At least I keeep coming back each year. read more

We have been to Wine O'Clock many, many times and have never been disappointed. I love that I am on a specialized food program, and Laurie, the chef, always makes me a dish that rivals any of their delicious menu items, but allows me to follow my program as well. We have guests coming to town for the weekend, and their request was that we go to Wine O'Clock since they have heard us raving about it for months. Everything is delicious. The asparagus is fantastic, cooked at extremely high temperature in the pizza oven. And, the soups are to die for. Even though I cannot eat them, I must confess to stealing a bite or two from my husband's bowl. I am looking forward to completing my program so that I can once again order from the menu, but until then, my special dietary needs are met with delicious preparation and service. I would give it 10 stars if that were an option, but I guess 5 will have to do. read more

Seriously!? It's day old bread, folks reinvented into a dessert, quit with the paltry portions. $62 plus tip for a boring, parsimonious lunch that left me more than ready to go home and eat a big dinner. I'll start with the positive - I really liked my food once I got it. We originally had reservations for 7 of us at 8:15, but they said they could accomodate us at 6:30 instead. Great! We get there at 6:30, and our waitress takes our drink and appetizer order - which she promptly forgets and has to come back to take it again. No biggie. Once she brought out the wine and apps, she came back eventually to take our orders. That was the last we saw of her - not even an glance our way - for an hour. Meanwhile she was socializing with another table out on the patio - laughing and having a great time. I had to go in and ask if we could get our water glasses filled. At that point, it was like they remembered we were there and about 20-30 minutes later they brought our food out. Some of us had great food, some of us got the wrong order, but ate it anyway, and some of the food had clearly been out for a LONG time. To be honest, we weren't too mad about waiting. It was a beautiful night and we were out on the patio. What bothered us was the treatment! We were literally treated as if we didn't exist. I know they had a big party inside, but all she had to do to make us satisfied was come out and either A. apologize for the wait, or B. bring us an "on the house" appetizer while we waited an hour and a half. We also drained our wine, and they could have made way more money if she came out to ask if we wanted more. So, to sum it up, the service was a total bust. I also went in to let them know that we were not going to pay the required 18% for parties 6 or greater. The hostess agreed to this, but was very rude. She said that was fine, but to remember that they were the generous ones that "squeezed" us in. Um, no. Don't squeeze us in if you can't handle the workload. We would have been fine with 8:15. That's about when we ate anyway. They need a little lesson on customer service. read more

They told us they were out of menus, so we had to snag one from a waitress as she walked by. Only after ordering they told us it would be 45+ min for food. Our appetizer was delicious but for some reason the rest of our meal did not match our previous experiences here. So, I hate to be one of those people who reviews a place based solely on the service and the ambience, but I'm going to anyways in the interest of transparency. This seems to be the only place in the area that serves decent food, according to all of the tasting room staff we asked for suggestions. Unfortunately, that means the restaurant can be extremely rigid, inflexible, and not customer-oriented. We stopped in hoping to enjoy something to go or on the large outdoor patio in front of the place, only to be told that they aren't serving folks out there (despite the fact that there was another gentleman outside being served). We then asked if we could order, get our food inside, and then sit outside, without any expectation of receiving service out there. We could even bus our own table. We were then told that they only open the patio on nice days (the day we were there was 78 degrees without a cloud in the sky, and the forecast the entire week leading up to our visit showed that it would be a beautiful day). Additionally, the place was only about 1/4 full, so the argument that they were slammed and needed to keep everyone inside and close is null. So we left. Kind of a bi*chy move on our part, I realize, but I also wasn't super excited about spending $20 for a pizza and $10 for a miniature salad. Again, I guess you can do that when you're in the middle of a food desert. We ended up picking up a nice turkey pesto sandwich at Safeway for $5 and headed to a winery to sit outside in the sunshine with a few glasses of wine. Three glasses of wine, two appetizers and a lower end entree added up to just over 96 dollars. It was a wonderful presentation and the service was great. Best Choice Ever... well second, the first was to get married to my wife. Anyway, for the quality of food it should have been a lot more exspensive. That was one of the best burgers I've ever had.
