We absolutely love Mercer Estates tasting room in Prosser! From the comfy chairs to the beautiful new patio area, there's something special about this place. They have a wide variety of wines to choose from and the prices are very reasonable. We were fortunate enough to get a tour of the facility and I was so impressed by how sparkling clean everything was! I especially enjoyed the story of how the winery came into existence! The land has been in the family for several generations and the atmosphere is very warm and welcoming and the service was top tier! One of the more commercially known labels in Yakima, but the wines are fantastic and the customer service very friendly. Part of the $20 Catch the Crush tasting experience included a Sauvignon Blanc tank sample and two Merlot barrel samples, a total of 5 samples, and the stemless glass to go. Plodding and boring wines for anyone who knows what Northwest wines are about. Not much about wine; just a handful of wines and none of them practical or appealing. A long list of wines but no pairing of them with the wonderful foods of Washington and Oregon to whet the palate. It would have been good to list areas that the first people came from and what wine practices they brought with them and then used the abundance that surrounds us to create new wines. Very disappointing. I would have thought a winemaker could create better wines that are special to the Northwest. read more

We visited Mercer Wine is September. The tasting room if really pretty and there is a lovely garden outside - perfect place to sit while you enjoy your wine. The wines were delicious and very reasonably priced. I especially loved their Mercer Brothers Cab and their Rosé. Prosser is a special little spot - great wines without the big crowds. Awesome wines! I really enjoyed the Cab Sauv, Mourvèdre, Malbec, Sauv Blanc & Rosé! This family owned winery has over 120 years of agricultural history in the Horse Heaven Hills. Definitely inquire about their story. They are also doing some cool and innovative sustainable practices such as regenerative grazing. Staff is knowledgeable, fun and sooo nice! We did a Mercer wine tasting at the Wine Country RV Park over the weekend while we were in town for an event and Abby (we believe that was her name) walked us through what you had to offer, how they were different, etc. She was very friendly and knowledgeable and made it a great experience for a group of wine tasting noobs. Prosser is bombarded with great wineries. When we were in town over President's Day weekend, up-and-coming Mercer Estates wasn't yet open. They opened in April '09, and it was our first stop this time around. They don't have highway signs quite yet, but they're at the end of Lee Rd, in the company of fellow wineries. There is a $5 tasting fee, and they also offer wine by the glass. Our tasting included 4 whites and 4 reds, and they also offered a taste of their unfermented sauvignon blanc "grape juice". The tasting room was spacious and elegant with tables and chairs for those who want to rest or visit, and colorful artwork on the walls. The service was friendly and attentive with two servers pouring from behind the bar. The wines were all equally enjoyable and well-structured...my favorites being the 08 Pinot Gris and 07 Cabernet Sauvignon. read more

Rude and unprofessional, worst experience I have ever had with a business. I have never been so vilely treated (Liz at the Prosser location tasting room). I signed up for the wine club membership at the Georgetown location. I was hesitant. I asked about the cancellation policy and was told that I could cancel at any time, with no obligation or penalty. The staff person was very polite and helpful, but she seemed new because she had to ask her manager questions. A few months later, I asked to cancel. I was told about the surprise cancellation fee then and said I would need to think about it. A few months later, I called again and asked to cancel and not be charged the cancellation fee. I explained how the company should honor the verbal promise of the Georgetown staff. My end of the conversation was civil and respectful. The employee at the Prosser tasting room referred me to their policy. I tried to point out that the company's verbal assurance should be something that customers can rely on. I told her at that point about my legal background and my general understanding of contract law. Liz begrudgingly agreed with me. But then she accused me of harassing her. I told her that this was only the second time in two months I had ever spoken to her (and I had left only one voicemail message the day before). It is incredibly unprofessional and unfair to create a situation where a customer is dissatisfied and then blame the customer. I was measured and polite at all times. If Mercer thinks that a customer is harassing them only because they are complaining and asking for help, then I will not ever support this company again. I would have written this negative review if Liz had not attacked me verbally by claiming that I was harassing her. At the end of the call, Liz thanked me in a very childish and rude tone for my business. This company doesn't deserve your business if it treats other people with this disdain. What a shame, because their wine is great and reasonably priced. read more

This was a fantastic experience! The service was stellar, the wine was fabulous, and the atmosphere was relaxing and comfortable. We had reservations because of Covid and we're treated like VIPs. Mercer does a lot of things right--they have a great location and awesome tasting room... but I just didn't enjoy their wine as much as I was hoping to. The staff was not as friendly as a lot of other wineries around Prosser, either. I guess I'll try again next year. read more

We visit Mercer every time we are in Prosser. Their Riesling and Merlot are very good. The ambiance is nice and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. There is a tasting fee if you are not a member, but I love their wines, so I am now a member. read more

Waited for over 10 minutes - and still not even a "we will be with you in a moment". Heard great things and just got into town - this was our first stop. Walked out and still not a single word said. During our recent trip to WA wine country, we were astounded with the quality of wines found for reasonable prices. We spent time in Woodinville, Prosser, Walla Walla, and the Columbia Gorge. In Prosser,Mercer Estates did not disappoint in wine quality, as most everything we tasted could be rated at least good. The problem with Mercer Estates is the staff we encountered. Though the tasting room is big and nicely decorated, it felt sterile to us though it could have been that we were the only ones there. The gal who came out from a back office seemed bothered by us showing up, though it was still 30 minutes or so from closing on a Sunday. When we asked questions they were barely answered and she seemed to be rushing us to get done. We left after just 10-15 minutes, and though the wine was good, we didn't want to trouble her to ring up a sale. She did seem disapponted in that. Go figure. We figured she was just an employee in a hurry to get home to a bunch of kids or something, and were surprised to learn that she was in management there. Surely a place like that can do better. There are many other more fun wineries in Prosser with excellent wine, some on the same road as Mercer Estates (don't miss Alexandria Nicole Winery) and then a whole lot out at "Vintners Village" where we spent a great afternoon. Lunch at "Wine O'Clock" in that area was excellent. We had a great day in Prosser, just ended it on a sour note. If we ever make it back to Prosser, we'll skip Mercer Estates, and would recommend you do too. read more
