Soon to become 'Spectrum Wine', the old name still hovers until it's common knowledge. The 55 Freeway expansion eliminated parking at the old location, and vibration is bad for wine, so good figure. Anyhow, the new store is in a warehouse district that's notation far off the beaten path, and while a smaller retail space, it's more welcoming in appearance. Renovations are still ongoing but the wine vault, with climate control is already installed. The wine bar is still migrating from the old space and a liquor license application is in the window. They told me hopefully that'll be up and running late March 2026. The new features are wine storage lockers for monthly rates predicated on sizes (e.g. 20 or 30 cases) and positions (e.g. ground, middle, or high). The old manner of displaying wine by country and region is still work in progress. If you had a wishlist on the old website, you'll find the account and accrued points (1.5% dividend on every pretax dollar spent) still there. While ownership has changed, the old staff have largely moved ove, which is great for continuity and consistency. I'm looking forward for future visits. I only hope they bring back the old format wine tastings in addition to the wine bar. read more

I absolutely love this place! The Staff is very knowledgeable and super friendly, the wine selection is amazing and they have some beautiful spirits here. When we came this week, we were greeted by an awesome person, Louie who had some items saved for us when we called 30 min prior. Then John, the Floor Manager provided us with some great recommendations for wine for all price levels. We tried those recommendations this week and we love them! They have tastings every Saturday. Really good deals on cases of interesting varietals. Also found this obscure gin infused with maté so I could recreate a drink I fell love with in Argentina. Free wine tastings onsite as well. It's a little hard to find because it's tucked away in a weird business park, but worth it once you get there. read more

Put this on your list of best places to find a wide variety of good quality wines from all over the world. Most are labels that you won't find in your chain wine or beverage stores. It's possible you've spotted this place and its tiny vineyard if you drive along the 55 freeway as it's located right next to it. The industrial park it is located in is a maze so an accurate GPS is recommended as it's a bit tricky to find. But the journey is well worth it. Upon entering the store my heart fluttered with delight. I immediately realized this is a hidden gem if there ever was one. The retail space is fairly large but well organized with placards describing many of the wines. Most of the labels were wines I was not familiar with. I was overwhelmed at first but walked out with three bottles - two Italian wines (a Brunello and a Chianti Classico) and a petit syrah from Paso Robles. Prices here are fair and the customer service is excellent. I was asked a couple times if I need help finding anything in particular. I also signed up for their mailing list for specials and info on wine tasting events. These guys have been around for a long time and I'm shocked that I've just now found them. I never heard of Wine Exchange until recently; I discovered them when I used winesearcher.com to find a local supplier for a Pinot Noir I used to have shipped. In the past I bought it from K & L Wines in LA, but with the temperature being Southern California summer hot, wine shipments won't be possible again for quite a while... Using their website (which I was linked to via winesearcher) I placed an order for a case of my favorite Pinot, and specified that it be held for pickup. I drove over the next day and was VERY impressed by this place; it's not only huge, but they've got an incredible selection of wines from everywhere. The shop is organized by the World's various wine regions, and their prices are surprisingly low. Even better, customer service is exceptional! When I walked in the front door, one of their very friendly and knowledgeable staffers located my order and helped me load it into my car. She then proceeded to give me several spot-on recommendations for wines that I might try based on my answers to questions about my taste and preferences. I went home totally satisfied, and planned to return another day to try some more of their excellent wines. Fast forward a couple of weeks - an old friend of mine came to visit and describe in glowing terms a wine he'd just tried up North. We looked for it together on Total Wine's web site, and they didn't have it, but Wine Exchange not only had it, but their price as amazing low! Very cool place! I can't wait to come back. When WE first opened, you could see it from the freeway and all I thought was "Great, another place to buy wine." I'm not a wine snob and I don't pretend to know anything about wine, but it does interest me. I went in there on a weekend and I must say it was a little difficult to find, even though it faces the 55, because it's tucked away in an industrial area I've never been in before. The place is huge. I loved that I was greeted at the door and offered assistance, but pretty much left alone after that. Nothing is more annoying than being stalked by a sales associate. They have everything you could possibly imagine. Some labels were familiar while others were pretty obscure and wine at all price points. Check the corners because you will find items on sale. I'm not at a stage where I even want to spend $30 on a bottle of wine much less $100 so I found an employee and told him my current palette and asked him to recommend a bottle of something I've never tried before for $20. What a find! Even though the Wine Exchange is technically not THAT far from me, I did not discover this store until I started my WSET classes and had a hard time finding specific wines (whether it be underrepresented regions, underrepresented varietals, or just hard to find wines). While I love my local shops, their selections simply do not match the Wine Exchange's. Add on the fact that the Wine Exchange has great prices and excellent shipping/holding options, and I was sold. The good: -Easy to navigate website with customer-friendly features -Great selection of both everyday wines and hard to find wines -Lovely variety of wine regions for both of the above -Solid prices, even for the hard to find wines -Fast shipping, pickup options, and even holding options -Wines have all been in great condition The could-be-better: -If I were to be nit-picky, I'd say I don't love the use of "the highest" reviews in the wine descriptions, though I get that some customers really do rely on those reviews Is my little neighborhood wine shop still my go-to? My advice is to find someone that works there that has similar taste in wine, so you can get recommendations. I have a couple of guys that like the same wineries and they have not steered me wrong. Everyone I've ever fell in love with, it always started with that first look. And with every wine I remember, that first taste glancing at the one I love. I made a statement once, to an analytical friend of mine who I was trying to seduce, that the meaning of life can only be found in the sensual. The line didn't work but it doesn't make the statement any less true ;-) One of the best sensual pleasures is a lovely glass of wine. Last night it was 2013 Jason Stephens Mourvèdre from an area near Morgan Hill where I used to live. Jason is a prick of a human being with terrible customer service but his wines can be quite nice. It wasn't purchased here but so much of what is in my cellar over the years was. Going back to their old location I have been a customer now for 20 years. Back in the day when I was a little bit younger and lighter ;-) I used to eagerly await their written newsletter and kept all of my tasting notes from their wonderful weekend events. Alas, everything is electronic now and at this new location no more tasting events. But still a great selection of wines at solid prices. I still find many superior everyday drinking wines here like the Bonacorrsi Santa Rita Hills Pinot, White Hawk Monterey Pinot, Tua Rita from Italy, Giacosa Dolcetto. They also get great selections from more expensive favorites like Ridge, Carlisle, Domaine Mt Eden, etc. They have great selections from Spain, Italy, France, Germany and with changes in the California wine industry; unique wines with true varietal flavor may soon only be found outside of the US. Staff is generally very nice, some more knowledgeable than others. Being into wine now for half my life I generally don't need much help but there is usually someone around when I do. Their customer service on online orders or through their Share Wine program is excellent. They will hold orders for several weeks for pick up. So much wine! Literal isles, boxes, and cases as far as the eye can see. This is a great place if you're looking to make an impression on a fellow wine lover. They have wines from all over the world, which is how the isles are split up. By country, style, red, white, dry, etc. Plus the people who work here are super knowledgeable. Just tell them how you want it to taste, choose a region, and the staff will hook you up with some tasty vino. The location is a little tough to find, just head to the back of the main parking lot and their front door faces the 55 freeway. This store used to be located at 1500 E Village in Orange, but supposedly merged with Online Wine and moved to this location in March. It is located off Dyer and 55 freeway in an industrial complex nearby Sit n Sleep. If you have a GPS, you won't have any problem finding it. We received a gift card from a friend and decided to use it. Upon walking in, I thought it would be a BIG warehouse. While it is a big store for a "small business" its definitely not as diverse as Hi-Time Wine Cellar in Costa Mesa, or as complete as Total Wine. After circling the warehouse for a bit, Stephen was about to "settle" for something when I pointed out an Australian port. That perked his interest, and he got that plus 2 other bottles of a wine he thought I'd like. If we were to get a gift card, we'd come back, but sadly we agreed that its probably not likely we'd come back unless just to browse. read more

This website should come with the warning label; "Caution, the staff at this wine retailer may decide to hide behind some obscure gotcha in their T's & C's instead of doing what they promised at the time you place your order." Very disappointing lack of customer service and attitude. After the order was paid for, in full, upfront they wanted to hijack us for $28 in shipping. When reminded that it said the shipping was free they replied that delay in shipping had removed that offer and snarkily pointed to their terms. As I continue my Rioja bender during the ridiculous virus shutdown, I needed to acquire some lesser known, but expertly produced wine from Pais Vasco. Wineries from the Alavesa region are reknown for having the best vineyards and the finest winemakers in the world. Why the big secret? Well, kiddies, you can't buy this quality at Ralph's or Von's where you go for wine. I bought a 2007 Lopez de Heredia Rioja Vina "Tondonia" for $43 which is a great price. No kiddies, it doesn't come in a boba format or in a juice box. The 2007 Tondonia is an elegant representation of what Tempranillo should be. Rich in fruit, great balance, aged longer than virtually any Riojan wine, good acid - doesn't need "air time" when uncorked. Grabbed a 1/2 case of Sierra Cantabria 2015 Reserva at $25 for less formal occasions. Their wines from the Eguren vineyards are very special, sometimes difficult to find. Picked up a 1/2 case of 2016 Viña Real and Sierra Cantabria Crianza bottles for everyday slurping at $15 & $13, respectively. read more

I dropped by today to pick up wine glasses that I bought online but elected to pick it up in store. While I was there, I purchases a few bottles that caught my eye. As I was checking out, I realized I made a mistake by selecting the wrong type of wine glasses and since the ones I originally wanted was in stock and of the same price, I thought the swap was going to be super easy and fast....30 minutes, 3 different staff members, and 1 tech guy later they were able to figure out how to return and credit me for the wine glasses so the credit can be applied to the ones I actually wanted. If I didn't live in Los Angeles, I'd be a regular shopper here. Consequently, four years passed since my last visit and I went to their old location. Oops. The most important thing to know is THEY MOVED from a mall in Orange to an industrial park in Santa Ana. I like the new spot better due to lighter traffic, easier parking, and improved atmosphere with pleasant tasting rooms. Longtime regarded (and correctly so) as one of the best wine stores in Orange County, the stock was noteworthy with a diverse selection of wines from around the world and not from the typical importers found at other stores. Like my last visit, I couldn't resist buying Vintage Port and German Riesling even though my cellar is well stocked in both areas. Most bottles were stored and displayed upright which was a slight concern. The discount corner with disco ball is next to the Champagne section. No spirits. read more
