Shopped around online to find a good deal for Johnny Walker Blue, a birthday gift for my husband. Total Wine surely had one of the best prices. When they offered 3 winery direct wines for 15% off, I couldn't help but to purchase. My favorite winery direct wines include Bottega champagne, 1858, and Unanime. I find it convenient to order online. You can search through for all the wines and reviews, and select the time you want to pick up. Once it is ready, they notify you. I am giving this location 1 star because of my experience with an employee named Jerry. He had an attitude and needs additional training on how to interact respectfully with customers who have disabilities, including deaf customers like myself. This was not the first incident. I gave him opportunities to improve before deciding to leave this review, but unfortunately, my experience did not get better. Bourbon? I've seen the same bottles at their "allocated" cabinet for the last 2 years collecting dust. No one's buying those specially with those prices. Even the BEVMO in the same city stepped up their game lately. Good luck getting "drops" in that store. You know the manager gets the first pick. More of their stock are those "spirit direct" bottles bs. Quality is going down the drain and other TW stores are trying and locals store are outperforming them. You even have more chance getting "better" bottles at Costco a block away. read more

Visited the store today and bought a few selection of wine and gift sets as presents for friends and family. They currently have a large selection of gift that contain cheese crackers and wine. Some of the gift that's contain chocolates and wine. There are seasonal favorites on display and at a good price. There's various tequila, lager, sparkling bubbles, vodka, rum, and seltzers. They also have non-alcoholic drinks for sale too. Some items didn't have clear pricing so I had to ask some staff. Friendly staff. They gave good recommendations so I'll have to tray a few new red wines this holiday season. read more

Every trip to California calls for a visit to Total Wine. The location here is close to where we stay and our son's house, so ideal. What we like besides the location is the staff is knowledgeable and helpful, there is always a well stocked selection and of course reasonable prices. I have been going to this store for years. MJ Johnson always has great recommendations whether I'm choosing a single malt scotch or a demi-sec champagne. I've never written a review before, but the experience I had at the Total Wine in Tustin deserves one. I went in to make a simple purchase, and because I was with a friend who didn't even plan on buying anything and didn't have their ID, the staff refused to sell me what I came for. I understand store policies, but the way they handled it was completely unprofessional. Instead of explaining politely, they were whispering to each other and giving attitude, making it clear they were talking about us. It was uncomfortable and honestly disrespectful. I've shopped at other Total Wine locations and never had an issue, but this one clearly needs to train their employees on how to treat customers with basic courtesy. If you want to be judged and treated like a problem for following the rules, this is the place. I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Since my first acquaintance with the Total Wine in La Brea I became interested in checking out the other locations, when convenient, and have appreciated the slightly different wines stocked in each of the stores visited thus far: La Brea, Pasadena, Rancho Cucamonga, now here. How convenient that REI is literally next door, double fun! Anyhow, I was pleased with the Italian wine selection and would really liked to have explored more but someone was impatiently waiting in the car (is it any wonder why I like to ogle wine on my own?) Now that I'm savvy to using the Total Wine app and accruing points for purchases, it's prudent look for other coupons to stack and really save. The trick, though, is buying at least 6 bottles (mix and match allowed) and adding a frequent 15 or 20% off coupon on top of the usual discount for six. Another suggestion is knowing which wines are "Winery Direct", they have little yellow flags on the placards. These often have sales too and even if only buying one or two bottles you can save a little, more than sales tax at least. The store is very clean and I didn't check out the humidor yet but given the frequency I visit REI that'll happen sooner than later. read more

To start, this review is for the Tustin, CA store. I had a wonderful and positive experience at the Newport Beach, CA store. The Newport Beach store personnel were so pleasant, extremely helpful and knowledgeable about their products, so much so that I purchased way more than I went there for. The Tustin store experience was a night and day experience, unlike the Newport Beach store. Not a single acknowledgment and nobody around or interested in offering any help. Definitely the best place around to get adult beverages. I love all the employees who are wine connoisseur's. These people take knowing wines and what they do very seriously. I love walking into the Spanish or French section and trying new wines. The beer case in the back can bring some hidden finds as well. They'll have spotted pig or Pliney from time to time from Russian River Brewery. And of course all the options for hard Booz from around the world. A little hidden gem in the south east corner of the shop is the cigar room. I never leave without getting a nice cigar from their amazing selection. Had friends in and was searching for a hard to find beer. Looked on line at Total Wine and it was not on hand at my local stores but showed as available at the Tustin location which is a thirty minute drive but I thought worth it for my friends. It even showed an aisle and bin number where it would be. Upon arrival no beer to be had so I asked a rep who also said yes we have a case on hand. Great I said after 20 minutes of moving stock around no beer. Another gentleman comes up and says this beer has been discontinued. O really I say, then you better update your location and give a heads up to Huntington and Long Beach which also showed on hand stock. What a joke of a liquor store. Me and my wife went to store today to pickup some tequila for tomorrow's party so we save some time as we both work , we also pickes some agave for our house for furr total price was almost 300-400$ . For context, we are well over the legal age. My wife forgot her id and since i had my id we got to the register, the attendant claimed that both of us needed to provide a form of ID to purchase just the agave, she brought her manager who refused to go through with the purchase and proceeded to tell us that it was in their 'policy' in a rude manner . If he was polite i was totally ok with it . Now, I'm not too well versed in these policies, but I can't make any sense of this. Some customers walk in with their children, but do they ask the children to provide an ID?! Despite leaving the store in a professional manner, this experience left a sour taste in my mouth which in turn, prompted me to write this review. Please direct me if I am wrong. At this very moment I just can't understand this process of procedures. Very poor management . From this, I can only look back and think to myself what poorly informed management. The amount of confidence that was displayed to my wife and I was certainly off-putting, especially if there was no right to make such a claim. Can't help but think that we were victims to wronged pride. the manager has half of my age and they absolutely don't deserve my business. I love this place because I am not familiar with wine or IPA's, and there is ALWAYS someone available to help me. My latest find was a double IPA that our British friend loved, but is only produced one a year. Luckily I bought a few back ups! I didn't have a sample, but the fact that it is a double IPA sprouted 2 thumbs way up from our friend. Looking forward to another great find. Hopefully one that is regularly in stock. read more

Selection is pretty good. Most of the staff if friendly. I cant comment on their level of knowledge of the product they sell. However, I did come in contact with an sales associate that has very poor knowledge and very poor customer service. When the aperitif (amaro) I came to buy was out of stock I ask this associate in particular what other amaro would he recommend that would be similar he gave me a very quick and dismissive response upon asking a another question describing the characteristics of the out of stock amaro that I do like he gave me a response of well I just go off the information that the company provides us. Haha well that is good to know why doesn't total wine just leave that info out for the customers and we can read it our self and he can keep stocking shelves. So at the end of that conversation I then ask him about the location of a French spirit called Creme de Cassis which is a syrup made from currants. He tells me Cream de Cassis is on such and such isle at he bottom right and he was correct a spirit in that location called cream de cassis but it was not a currant flavored syrup. So I scour the isle looking and looking for a dark syrupy liquor called creme de cassis and that same employee happens to show back up in the isle and I ask him again stating to him that I can find the clear cream de cassis but not the creme de cassis I am looking for. As I finish my statement my eyes just happen to locate the dark syrupy creme de cassis I am looking for and I say oh great here it is perfect. As we are know parting ways he says with a smug grin on his face "just so you know cream de cassis is always clear". That may be the way he talks to his wife but I certainly am not his wife and took quite an exception to this. I have included a picture the bottle of the creme de cassis that I bought and yelp can be the judge of if i was wrong or if perhaps this employee needs some product knowledge training and some customer service training. read more

for this years xmas, I was looking for a specific Lagavulin for SO, ended up at this total wine location and I was extremely impressed with the help and services I got! The specific bottle I was looking for was out at the regular shelf space so the staffs had to grab the forklift to help me find it on top of the shelf storage space (lol and of course this would happen when I went shopping!!!) Every staff was super nice and friendly and they really went above and beyond helping me with the bottle I was looking for! I got to take my time to browse the store, exploring interesting bottles and items and also got help right away when I needed! Overall, it was a very nice shopping experience. I came here to get two bottles of Don Julio with my friend. My driver's license had just expired, and I explained that I had an appointment with the DMV in a few days. My friend had a valid ID. The lady told us that she couldn't sell it to us because my ID was expired but she said she could hold it for me to get my passport and come back. SHE LIED!! Do NOT go here if you are not white. Absolutely terrible service and so discriminating. Other groups and people who were white were treated normally, however as soon as my Hispanic girlfriend and I arrived to this location we were treated like trash. Staring at us as we shopped and constantly keeping an eye on us. Acting nice with other white guests but rude with no desire to help any other people of color. It's clear through other very similar reviews that this store is extremely RACIST. I will ensure proper action is taken against this location. read more

I had a really disturbing encounter at the check out aisle. My friend was purchasing alcohol and I was accompanying her in the car ride to this location. After browsing inside I knew she was going to take longer so I waited for her back in the car. The cashier who helped her out asked if I could come back inside to show my ID since I was with her. My friend let the cashier know that I didn't have my ID on me since I was not driving. I was asked to still come inside and present a photo ID verification. As I was walking into the store the manager approached me and wanted to see my ID (9pm) I told him that I was in the car and not purchasing alcohol and still showed a photocopy of my ID... then he proceeded to ask me a question, "what if you were arrested." Being blind sighted from what he actually asked me, I thought "I'm not driving, so I don't have my ID." But in reality he really asked me if I would be arrested since I am a brown female and he was racial profiling me. The question was not appropriate in the context that I am a Latina female and how the situation was handled. It's upsetting how inconsiderate this encounter was from both of point of view. The bad part about going to Total Wine at The Marketplace location is the traffic leading into Total Wine. The traffic lights are not synchronized going into The Marketplace from Jamboree Road. There's also a sign saying that masks are optional for vaccinated customers which may factor into you shopping at this particular Orange County location. Once you pass the traffic, you are greeted with a plethora of alcoholic beverages for your choosing. I was looking for a particular imported Tequila, but sadly, I didn't see it on the shelves. I should have asked someone in the store to help me, but I did see a Mezcal that someone random gentleman recommended to me in the store and got that instead. I think the best part about Total Wine is that they have a huge variety of imported alcohol typically not found in a regular grocery or liquor store. Total Wine reminds me of BevMo, but has more variety of harder to find items. read more

We've never been here ever since the lock downs. It's excited for us to shop here again and we walk around this place like in a botanic garden. We stocked up enough for the rest of the year. All the happiness stopped when we were at the cashier. After they request for my partner's ID card, they asked me about my ID card. So I asked them why will I show them my ID, if my partner is buying them and show them his ID already. The lady at the cashier machine act like she works for the TSA. She told us in a strict way that it's the company policy to show the group ID. It's funny that the TWM wine sellers are willing to sell me their wines without let me show my ID. If you don't need my ID to introduce your wine, why will you needs my ID to buy those? It's the most BS liquor store policy in the entire California. There is no law that request every member in the group needs to show their ID. If you are selling alcohol in California, then you should follow the Californian alcohol law. It's stupid to set a useless policy that pissed off the customers. If you are buying alcohol for teenager, you can let them wait in a car, so what's the point to show the group ID? If the alcohol goes outdoor, how do you track where it goes? are you going to count how many we can drink ? and how fast? Is it breaking the privacy law? I'm not a kids expert, but who will buy so many wines for kids? I get it when kids wants to drink beer, Because Eu kids starts early with beer, but wine? Sounds lame to me. When you show ID, the cashier wants to touch our ID, they can only read it when they holds your ID close to them, times like this, noone wants people to touch anything personal from you. People are paying everything with apple pay so you don't have to let people touch your stuff. Their policy can really make people feel awkward after spending so much money here. read more

I placed an $850 alcohol order with Total Wine for an important corporate event for 150 people. One half hour before the event, and what was supposed to be delivery time of the alcohol, I received an email that the order was on the way with Door Dash. Six minutes later, the order was completely cancelled for no reason, also via email. I phoned Total Wine immediately and after 20 minutes on the phone, they were unable to do anything at all. So we had a corporate event with nothing to drink. I phoned Total Wine two days later to discuss with customer service and they told me they were going to push the complaint up to their regional director and to expect a call within 2 hours. No call. One week later, I received a call from a lowly customer service agent offering me a $15 reward for the inconvenience. Total Wine had lost not only my business, but my personal shopping, as well. I will now work with High Times Liquor, who don't contract out for delivery of large catering orders. read more

Dwight is especially helpful as he is always walking the aisles asking if anybody needs help and then taking time to help pick out wines if you need help. He always has great recommendations no matter your price point or type of wine. Ask for him next time you go in and you will be satisfied with the wine choices. read more

SO MUCH WINE!! Okay so this was my first time to this location. Initially when I walked in I was already overwhelmed with how much wine they have. They have the wine separated by type of wine and also by country. So it allows you to explore your wine tastes greatly. I loved how knowledgeable all the staff were because they really helped me understand what wine would fit me best. Now after you're done looking at wine, head over to the spirits and beer sections. The beer section has a craft brews section. In this area they sell beer by the can! So you can try several different beers without committing to a 6 pack. It's wonderful!
