I've had multiple terrible experiences at BevMo with expired products. First, I bought Alamaza beer that was 2 years past expiration. When I pointed it out, I assumed it was a one-off mistake. But then I bought Heineken that was also expired which is shocking given how quickly Heineken usually sells. Today was the final straw: I bought a bag of chips that turned out to be 3 months expired (see photo). It's unacceptable for a store of this size and reputation to have such poor inventory management. Selling expired food and drinks isn't just unprofessional; it's unsafe. CARLOS "Service Manager" was extremely rude and being unrealistic about why a store like BevMo is even in place. Imagine going to a store where the "Manager" decides to go flex power or whatever and basically press one of my employees (I run an auto repair shop just down the street from this location) for not having identification on him. Like he's a criminal. He had his identification in the vehicle he drove us in but did not bring it since he was waiting for me to complete a purchase after a long day of work. But no instead he proceeds to press him and me and essentially cancel the whole transaction and make a scene while a line is accumulating. Tells me his name and Spells it out and tells me to be sure I spell it right when I make this review about him. BevMo if you're seeing this, I really hope you remind CARLOS that he has the "position" he has because of customers like me. My review is for Go Puff pick up orders. Front line employee (cashier) was extremely rude when I came to pick up my orders. This was my 3rd order using this pick up locations and every time there are a little bit of confusions. Even though I explained him that I'm not a Go Puff delivery person and clearly identified myself as customer picking up own orders, he sent me to the back of the building where drivers would pick up items and made me wait out side for over 10 mins. Apparently my orders weren't ready either. There were random guys hanging out in and out of bushes and I felt very unsafe being back of the building for unforeseen time period. Got some serious hit or miss with competence. The most recent vis was beyond incompetent. Needed a bottle behind the glass, cashier said let me help the next person first, as he said the key was at the other drawer. He did aplogize, however, when I got to the back, there was someone working and ignored me asking for help before I had to raise my voice. Finally comes out of hiding and clearly hates his job. I've been going here for over a decade and shit does it suck now. What normally takes less than 2 minutes with no line turned into watching paint dry. The man at the front counter was beyond incompetent. I placed an online order for pickup and sent all the information to my husband's email because he got off work nearby. As I do with all Bevmos in the area, I placed the order and my husband goes to pick it up with the confirmation email, no problem about it. However, the man at the front refused to give my very grown and very age-legal husband the order because his ID didn't match the name, even though he had the email confirmation and a full description of the order, so it wasn't like he was trying to pick up a random order. Also, remember that there is no option to change the order name online as I have tried in the past. I got a call from him and told him to just wait so I could call the store and see what the problem was because this had never happened before. Same guy answers the phone and as I try to explain that no other Bevmo has given me this problem, he begins talking over me to explain how those stores are doing it wrong. Sir, I don't care! It's really not that deep-- the alcohol isn't yours, the money doesn't affect you, and it's already paid for??? Its ridiculous that you feel you can treat paying customers this way, especially when it was already bought and paid for so it actually makes your job a little easier? What also rubbed me the wrong way was that he mentioned the LAST names have to match up: I apologize for not taking my husband's last name after our marriage because if I had known that BEVMO would give us a hard time, I probably would've made him take mine. Absolutely ridiculous service, terrible attitude, and all for what? It really wasn't going to affect you in any way. This location is incredibly clean and well organized. Employees were friendly and efficient. Selection was similar to most other BevMo! locations. They had a good assortment of international beverages and even some rare soft drinks that's fun to look at. Only thing you have to watch out for is their prices. While their sale prices generally compensate for the higher marker prices, it doesn't also work For example, their buy one bottle of wine get the 2nd for 5 cents, generally puts both bottles at the price you could buy elsewhere. Therefore you're tricking (or forcing) you into buying 2 bottles. For most people, this isn't a bad thing, but if your looking for a just one bottle, you might save money going elsewhere. read more

I was told by the cashier that the he could not swipe my gift cards because it would "freeze" his computer. The cashier spoke to someone, I presume a supervisor, that I could not, and he would not swipe my gift cards for my purchase. The cashier did say I could do an online order. I did not have the time to do that. So now I have $50.00 in gift cards in my wallet and Beverages and More in Irvine on Culver is out of a sale. I hate leaving negative reviews on Yelp. This is in my neighborhood so I go here often. They have a good selection of beer and wine, most at competitive prices. On occasion they have their wine five-cent sale which lets you buy one bottle of wine at the regular price and a second bottle of the same wine for only five cents. I definitely go stock up on my favorite wines whenever they run that sale because you just can't beat that deal. Another service they provide is online ordering. You can look at wines on their website and make your purchases but ask that they be available for pickup at your local BevMo store. Then just stop by and pick them up at your convenience (must bring proper identification). Cool, huh? They also sell hard liquor, odd-brand soda, cheeses and snacks. I've been here a lot. The newbies are awful and obviously don't last long here because there's always newbies. They said they check "everyone's ID in a group when they enter a Bevmo store", but I've come here enough to know that's not true and not legal for purchasing alcohol in CA. You're only supposed to check the ID of the person purchasing. I've seen literal kids come into the store with their parents. No ID check. Apparently, once you're past an unknown arbitrary age that Bevmo does not tell you about, you need an ID, even if you're not the one buying. But even if you show them your ID, although you are not purchasing, the young cashier kid hasn't been alive long enough to be able to tell how old someone is by looks and doesn't know what to look for when they have said ID in their hand. So they just hold on to it and stare blankly. For a long time. I'm sorry I look young because I'm asian, but I spend a lot of time and money to keep it that way. I'm a whiskey fiend. I like drinking whiskey so much that one may consider my drinking a problem if I didn't drink socially half the time. But this review isn't about my love of sweet sweet hooch. No... its about this Bevmo. Look: any alcohol warehouse is basically a playground for me. I frolic up and down the aisles, making excited little noises as I find more drink that I want to try. So why did I only give this Bevmo three stars? - This is more a problem with Bevmo as a whole and not this particular location: if you're a whiskey hound like I am: the prices here are only OKAY. Better than some mainstream retailers, but more expensive than some of Bevmo's direct competition ( whom I shall not name on this review ). - The staff here is only moderately helpful. Other locations in other cities have had some stand out staff members make suggestions, converse about everything drink and I even had one Bevmo have staff members walk around the store with me picking out what I desired ( I also drank a hell of a lot more back then... probably was on some sort of VIP super buyer's program or something ). - On one occasion, a cashier was away from her station talking with what appeared to be a customer over in the corner of the store. After she noticed me standing, waiting to check out, she and her "customer" walked back over toward the door, exchanged a hug and her "customer" walked out empty handed. That annoyed me a bit. Clearly they were friends chit chatting at the expense of my time, waiting to pay for my purchase. So if this was the case, then why did this Bevmo deserve three stars? - Well; again speaking as a whiskey aficionado: there is some stuff that Bevmo stocks that I cannot find in stock anywhere else to save my life. - This store is pretty well laid out. This BevMo is on the way home from the train station. I commute by train. Many times I have stopped off while pedaling my bicycle home, and because I had no lock, I politely asked to bring my bike inside. Its a pretty nice bike, and leaving it outside unlocked, even in Irvine, is just asking it to get stolen. More than 20 times I've asked and every time, even a few times when the store was pretty busy, I was told "No problem" and the employee pointed me to a spot I could keep my bike while I shopped. Saturday evening, around 6 o'clock, I again was stopping on my way home from the train station and figured I would pick up a bottle. When I walked up to the door there was one employee holding a conversation with a customer, and otherwise the store looked very empty. When I asked if I could lean my bike inside for a moment, I was told "no, sorry there's nowhere to put it." I said, " OK, I understand, however, I've done this several times before and no problems have ever come of it..." He suggested that I leave it outside, within his eyesight, but didn't offer to watch it for me, and showed no interest in watching it. I said "Uh, yeah, I can't do that" He said "Ok, sorry. You can't bring it inside..." He was just being a jerk about it for no good reason. I would have given only one star, except for there have been so many other times the location has been kind and accommodating. I've got no reason to go back here until they let me lean my bike inside, which gets in nobody's way, and in no way hinders their ability to sell beverages. Conversely, they've lost whatever business I would give them until they can come to their senses and allow me to lean my bike in an inconspicuous area in the shop. read more

And although their wine selection is mediocre overall, sometimes they do have deals with their Club Bev program including currently my favorite everyday drinking white wine Tangent Sauvignon Blanc from a sustainable vineyard for only $10.99 ($2.00 cheaper than Whole Foods). They also have an excellent beer and old fashioned soda selection. I enjoy local breweries like The Bruery and currently they have three different bottles from this producer. So for the knowledgable consumer, a solid choice in Irvine for what it is...I am definitely moving a bit of my everyday wine business over here from Total Wine especially with all the construction on Jamboree. read more

They have a wide selection so I picked up a few items that I thought everyone in the crowd would enjoy - even if they drink the standard grocery store fare. Store is clean. Parking can be tricky with the 24 Hour Fitness crowd. I had to park really far and then immediately regretted that with all the alcohol I had in my hand.
