Wine Dive Kitchen is a lovely restaurant in downtown Manhattan. I found them on OpenTable and booked a reservation for dinner on a Friday night. We were able to get in at 8:15. It was a little late, but they were super busy with a large party in a private room. Once we got in and got seated, the delightful server took excellent care of us. My wife wasn't really hungry so she just nibbled off my plate. I started with a half of a wedge salad, which was delicious. They had a special on a piece of paper that night, which was a smoked pastrami, burnt ends sandwich with homemade rye bread. It was glorious! Very creative and fun. Since I don't love fries, they were kind enough to substitute deviled eggs as my side dish. I didn't know there would be an up charge for that but it's okay because they were delicious. We each had two drinks from the bar and they were made very well. They have a huge wine, seller and a great selection as one would expect by the name of the place. This restaurant has other locations in Lawrence and Wichita and I would eat at any of the three. Very cool menu and an amazing wine selection. This is really good food. read more

We started off with attitude from the host because I did not include my 5 month old granddaughter in the reservation count. Mind you, the restaurant was basically empty....maybe 4 tables the entire time we were there. On a Kstate game day no less. We very obviously did NOT need a reservation. ‍ Then, we got a snarky attitude from our server for asking for a side of simple syrup for my DIL's unsweetened tea. WTH??!? He had previously been super nice up until that point. He snarkily informed me that he could do that but there would be a charge. Whatever. It was 50 cents for an ounce of sugar water. Anyway, the food was "okay", nothing to write home about. My DIL did really like her burger and our deviled eggs appetizer was great. Something really weird was my scrambled eggs had tiny bits of sausage scrambled into them. I did not like them at all and nowhere on the menu does it indicate there will be sausage in the scrambled eggs. I definitely would not return and do not recommend. Heard great things about this place and it did not disappoint! Started with the Ahi Nachos and I could have a whole plate of those! Great balance, flavor and presentation. I was feeling something lighter, so ordered the Fattoush Salad and added salmon for a dinner meal and it was very good, though didn't wow me like my guy was raving about his burger! Busy Thursday night but I was able to find a seat at the bar to eat. Bartender was obviously overwhelmed and not getting support from most other staff. The host came over to help bus and make waters but several other staff just stood around the kitchen window talking and watching tv. Bartender did give great wine recs and the food was very tasty as well. I hope the service hiccups were not the norm but I would return. read more

The food was very delicious! The ribeye cost 80$ (market price according to the menu, not sure how often that changes. Stock prices change everyday, I guess I just got lucky with 80$). The twisted linguine with added chicken was about 32$. The Fried Frites were 7$. The place was relatively quiet with some small televisions mounted on the walls playing sports. I would definitely come here again! They have a happy hour from 4pm - 6pm Monday through Friday and it's half off starters and discounted drinks. read more

Visiting my son for the weekend, I wanted to take him to a "nicer" restaurant than the typical college-town bar and grill. Wine Dive offers just this, with a classy ambiance and separate room offering a wide array of fine wines. Food was excellent and service was good. Not great, but good. Food and ambiance was everything I could have hoped for, but the service was slow and forgetful. The cajun pasta was amazing, three types of protein in there and the sauce paired with the pasta was remarkable. Everyone enjoyed the food, but it was a pretty busy night as it was the night before a football game. We sort of expected slow service because of how packed it was, but still took longer than we had hoped. Solid options, but prices are not reasonable for what you get! We stopped by this little bistro in Manhattan for a late dinner. I'll start with the best parts of our experience - the decor is adorable, sophisticated ambiance, and our service was quick and very attentive. We ordered and split the lamb sliders, orchard salad, gouda cheese and chorizo charcuterie, along with two glasses of wine. The lamb sliders were small, but excellent, perfectly tender and with an interesting and complex flavor. The orchard salad was not a standout, but a solid option, although the full-sized salad was fairly small with a $13 price tag. The real shocker was the cheese/charcuterie, which were $10 each (for a total $20) and literally just a 5-6 small cubes of meat/cheese and a few pieces of bread. I've never experienced a charcuterie that was so small and didn't include some simple add ons like jam, berries, olives, etc. This option was extremely overpriced for what we received. I think Wine Dive + Kitchen has the potential to be a good or even great restaurant, but should ensure each menu item delivers on their value proposition. read more

19th birth dinner for my daughter. We had the risotto balls appetizer that was matched nicely with a tomato and parmigiana cheese relish. Never had it like that before - definitely a fan. Orchard salad was great and small size left us plenty of room for dessert. NY style cheesecake and bread pudding. And they put a sparkler on my daughters - so fun! All the food was excellent, top quality. Atmosphere was nice, not super crowded or loud. Service was attentive and informative. We did have to rush to an event at the museum, and our dinner course took about 30 min to come out, but honestly on any other day that would have been fine. Prefer a no rush meal usually. We were promptly seated and our waiter came over gave us water and said he would be right back to take our drink order. 10 minutes later he was still at the pass drinking his water chatting with the cook and manager when I went to ask the host if the had just a regular lunch menu. They did not. He then came over and asked if we had been told the specials while my companion tried her hardest to get the managers attention to no avail and I said we hadn't been told anything and at this point we had been sitting for over 15 minutes. Potential, but rough edges. First, while their wine selection is adequate, if you want a beer you have to choose either Budweiser, or a couple bland local brews. No Stella, no Heineken, no Peroni... in fact zero imported beers. Server was rushing us and when we told him we wanted to sip our drinks and look at the menu, he commented "We do have the table booked after you." Wrong attitude. Arancini was deep fried too long, bread crumbs became bitter, too brown. And finally, watch for unreasonable charges. They tried to sneak a 3% "credit card fee" on the bill. Ben was our waiter and he couldn't have done a better job at making us feel comfortable and well informed. Checked on us frequently and made sure we were taken care of. As an avid brunch food lover I was excited to try this place. We had mimosas, deviled eggs & hummus to start. All of it was delectable. The deviled eggs were unique but scrumptious. For our main entrees we had quiche, chilaquiles, a wedge salad (I forgot to get a picture) and shrimp and grits. I have only had traditional chilaquiles in Mexico and this was different but fantastic! The quiche was a sweet potato brown rice & kale mix and was great. No reservation but it is 7:30 and they found us a table. All we can say is fabulous. Staff.....wine selection.......service....appetizers....main course. Everything house made. Duck sausage. We ate at the bar. The bartender was very attentive and the drinks were good. I ordered the flank steak because they wanted $80 for a rib eye (really? In Kansas? In the middle of cattle country?). Anyway the flank steak was awful. It had absolutely no taste. And the outside of it was crunchy with a weird texture, seemed off for a medium rare piece of meat. I mentioned it to the bartender and she said that some of their meals had been "too salty." I'm not sure salt would have helped. My wife had the trout, she said it was great. Overall a really good experience! The server was great and food was great, but a little salty for our taste. A great spot to go to in MHK! Beef tenderloin - YUM! It was extremely tender and just melts in your mouth. We wanted to medium rare but it came out medium, but it was still really good. Lobster shrimp and crab Mac and cheese - must get! This Mac and cheese was so good and was one of my favorite dishes of the night. Duck breast - another must get! It was so good with the Brussels sprouts. The vibe is lovely and have a great cocktail menu. We ordered the devil eggs and the and the beef bruschetta as appetizer. Eggs were fantastic but the bruschetta is a complete skip. The bread was so dry, hard and oversized. Nearly impossible to bite into. Also the beef the add to the top is a laughable size. The garnish is larger than the beef serving. This is $16 for cream cheese hard croutons. Dinner was the fish tacos and the lobster Mac n cheese. Skip the fish tacos, those are mid at best, nothing remotely special. The Mac n cheese house was fantastic. Rich and delicious cheese sauce that is decedent. The toasted bread slices used for this dish should be used for the bruschetta. Food was outstanding, duck salami for an appetizer with the duck breast paired with a Pinot Noir for an entree. Desert was a smoked old fashion. All the food was good properly and delicious. I made a reservation at 7:30 for mine and my partners 5th anniversary. We were looking forward to having a nice night out since we don't get to have many. We arrived to the restaurant at around 7:10 we were a bit early, they were busy and had a big group of people waiting up front, but we had a reservation so I thought it would be fine. I go and tell the person at the front that we had a reservation for 2 under my name they almost told me they didn't see it till they scrolled down a bit farther. After they found the reservation they told me we would have to wait till they found a table for the big party that was standing there in front of us. No big deal it's okay if we have to wait a few minutes. Then another couple came in, the person at the desk asked if they had a reservation they said no and they told the couple they were not going to be able to seat them so the couple left. A different couple came in right after them no reservation the person at the front told them that they had a table if they wanted to wait for it. Then another couple comes in they have a reservation for 7:15 or 7:20 they get seated immediately. There was zero room to stand that wasn't in the way of the front door or the walk way my partner and I grew frustrated and left seeing that we were not going to be able to get the table we made a reservation for. We opted for fire house subs because every other sit down restaurant was packed. At 7:51 almost 8 o'clock they called I let my partner answer because I am at this point very upset. He answered and was asked if we were going to be coming back. He told them no because we were already there but they didn't have a table for us. He said whoever was on the phone told him they couldn't hear him so he just flat out said no we will not be coming back and then they hung up on him. I am so disappointed with the service that we received. I was looking forward to spend a nice evening with my partner at a nice restaurant that I heard so many people rave about. We eat regularly at Wine Dive, no issues for the most part. However last Friday (May 23rd) we were surprised by our bill, as it had a clear mistake on the sales tax. We are charged $22 in sales for a $137 total bill (it should be $10.74). Also a charge for credit card handling for an extra $3. When we complained about the sales tax, we were told (after waiting for a while) that the manager was too busy and could come and try to solve the problem (apparently they are aware of it) if we could wait for 15 minutes or so. We could not, so we left and paid the full bill. Still, I decided to leave this review because others might not even realize they are being over-charged. And it is just not right. read more

A marvelous experience! Superior food, beautifully prepared and plated. A huge wine menu (ask for the full menu or view it on their website) with some exceptional bottles. I customized my order of the Creekstone Farms tenderloin by adding pan-seared scallops and substituting a mushroom and gruyere risotto for the garlic mashed potatoes. The steak and scallops were cooked to perfection. There were nine in our party and all but one rated their entree as superior. The only miss was the Wild Boar Pasta dish.
