Best restaurant in Manhattan, KS! We stopped by for dinner when we were in town for a few weeks of classes at the university, and were impressed by the creative, flavorful, and delicious food and cocktails. Most of the Bourbon & Baker menu is tapas style, with a Southern theme. We ordered and shared the duck tacos, shrimp & grits, and duck fat French fries; plenty of food for two and all excellent! For drinks, we ordered the seasonal old fashioned (peach iced tea) and whiskeyrita - both were very tasty. We sat at the bar and our service was very quick and polite, and it was great to see the talented bartender at work. Highly recommend a visit!

the fried bologna slider and it's a world class taste treat ($8.50 as of 06/2025). Highly recommended

This review is for lunch at the bar on a Saturday in late May while roadtripping through Kansas. service: Everyone I interacted with - bartender, food runners, other waitstaff - were positive and helpful. bar: As you might deduce from the name, this is the place for your bourbon. Since I was driving, I went with a Boulevard Pale Ale on tap ($7 as of 06/2025), but this is the place to get your whiskey dance on. food: At the bartender's recommendation, I had the fried bologna slider and it's a world class taste treat ($8.50). Highly recommended. The asparagus fries are equally interesting and fun ($7.50). To be fair the kitchen is pretty amazing. Everything on the menu is inventive and unique. details: Place was not crowded at Noon on a Saturdy, but imagine it gets busy. Restaurant not overly large, but does have some outside seating. It's downtown Manhattan, so street parking.

Small plates inspired by a Southern flare. Nice staff and the food was pretty quick to come out, but nothing was great. I went with some friends and we just ordered a bunch of things. We took advantage of the 25% off happy hour pricing so I could taste as many dishes as possible. The Chicken and Waffle was the best bite but nothing was exceptional. I'd certainly go back for the happy hour and atmosphere, but wouldn't recommend the food by itself.

This casual restaurant/bar/ bakery was awesome. The service was on point, huge bourbon selection and the food delicious. They had small plates so we could order and try a bunch of different items on the menu. The surprise stars of the menu were the fried bologna slider and the fried asparagus. If you are ever in Manhattan, KS this place is a must try.

B&B is on point. Great atmosphere, the decor and set up is comfortable and accommodating. Service was delivered with careful attention to detail. The tapas menu was really a welcome treat. Ricotta, carrots, asparagus, corn dip were just excellent choices. Now there's nothing left for you to do but go get ya some!

Our server Gabby was very helpful with recommendations for our small plates of deviled eggs, baloney slider, St. Louis ribs, asparagus fries, and hot collard greens crab dip. All very good. Since it was my bday, we had a "slice of the day" , a golden cake with raspberry and vanilla cream frosting and it was excellent. This place does baked goods right!!!

First we got a fantastic parking spot in the lot on the backside. Tapas style place to eat.... (Know before you go) Got on a short list for a table - special requests for chairs with backs as we had the daughters with us. After seated ...we we're greeted with smiles and charm from an awesome Alyssa. She kept the drinks flowing and had and sweet vibe. She got our devilled egg order out and the thing was DECADENT! It's a must have...I will be dreaming of it later. As an entree I ordered for the wife and I to split the Chicken biscuit and the pulled pork slider -Oh my... I think all things from the kitchen are created by a slew of magicians in the kitchen.... someone should be slapped for making such a bunch of delightful dishes. Thank you Mr Bynum - Executive Chef The girls wanted bacon with their waffle and it was so delicious! All food was fantastic and you could tell all servers were working as one team and it all flowed well! Thank you B&B for allowing my family to experience cloud 9 on our visit to Manhattan Kansas The Noah's Mill on ice ball did suffice my thirst. Respectfully, Bryan Oklahoma City

I have never had a bad experience at bourbon and baker. The food is packed with flavor and perfect portions to share a bunch of plates with the table. The service was fabulous. It always is. My only complaint is it's a little loud in the evenings. This is not a place you go to have a conversation.

If you are going for drinks it's got that covered well. Dinner is more of a Tapas situation. A little too pricey for what you get.

New to Manhattan, is B&B kid friendly or more adult oriented? Thanks!

Yes, it's kid friendly. I saw families sitting in booths while I was dining.

When we arrived there were already several people waiting inside the front door area. There was no one in the front to give our name and number of persons in our group. I had to flag her down as she was running around clearing tables of dirty dishes and also running food to tables. Unfortunately, she was obviously overloaded in her responsibilities because not only did she not greet us, but had a not so friendly look on her face. It's a shame because it set the tone for our experience there. BTW never accept the front table near the front door on a very cold windy day! You'll freeze your butt off. Even with our table on the other side of the room, I could feel the cold air blowing inside the restaurant every time someone opened that door. The staff person took our food orders was friendlier. I did notice after she left that our table had no pre-set napkins and silverware like the other tables around us all had! This proved to be a major contention for me, because our food was served with no silverware brought to us. I got up and approached our server asking for napkins and silverware. She was about to bring water to another table. She replied she'll bring them after she drops off the water glasses elsewhere. I asked her to hand me the napkins and silverware as our eggs will be ice cold by the time she gets to us. Of course she was short on knives. She said this is the only clean ones I have for now. REALLY?!!!!! We had to flag down the front lady to get missing whipped cream for one of our French Toast orders and hot water for our hot tea order. Her non-facial expression made it so unpleasant like we were bothering her. Honestly I totally understand it's a Sunday and the restaurant is super busy, but at least hire enough people, train them to smile and be welcoming and make you feel good about being there. What was obviously missing was a busboy to clear and clean tables, refill water, coffee & hot water for hot tea. After I retrieved our missing silverware two of us tasted our eggs and they were cold. UGH!!! I hate eating cold eggs!!!!! The brisket Benny was not good either! The brisket was thinly sliced and it was way overcooked burnt looking too! On top of all that he later complained of his stomach being quite upset. I used the restroom and it was a mess. The trash can was overflowing where the used towels had fallen on the floor. It did not look clean at all. If bathrooms are not maintained, it makes you wonder how clean their kitchen is when they are cooking your food order?!!!!! I had to flag down our server for our check, who by the way never checked on us, not even once the entire time we were there. I would absolutely NEVER return here!!!!! The food that was served to us was subpar - cold eggs, missing whipped cream, and overcooked unappealing thinly sliced brisket, which resulted in a bad upset stomach.

It looked really cool as we walked in, late on a Saturday afternoon after an afternoon of sightseeing, although we were kind of surprised that it was not at all busy. We chose it more for the selection of cocktails, because we had eaten a big lunch and weren't that hungry yet. We told our server that, and she let us linger over a cocktail before even asking us if we were ready to eat. She got it! It's a lovely setting, in an old, beautifully renovated space. We were ushered to the area behind the bar and seated at a table. When we first got there, we were the only ones in the room. But as we stayed and sip our cocktails and eventually ate dinner, it filled up nicely. As usual, I drank Manhattans. Seemed appropriate especially because of where we were. Their Black Manhattans were perfectly crafted and very tasty. For dinner I had the Harissa Pork Ragu and my husband had the Fish Tacos. Both were very good, and right-sized portions. Overall, we loved it! We're hoping our travels bring us back through Manhattan sometime so we can come back!
