Had a great time trying out some delectable food at Win Son Bakery in East Williamsburg. Service was awesome. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very busy and a cool vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was organized and clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It has a very inviting feel.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There are tables and chairs inside and outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The music was relaxing and jazzy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My latte was balanced with caramel flavors made with dates and the espresso was strong and tasty. Our food was delish and packed with flavors. The custard toast was thick but just a little dry. It still had a good texture. The pork fan tuan was so yummy and the scallion pancake with the havarti cheese and egg was very delicious. I would definitely put this place on repeat. We had a great time!
[[HIGHLIGHT]]Stopped here on a rainy day for a quick bite. The place was packed but I was still able to find a seat.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was great as well. The food itself was mixed for me. The vanilla cream bun felt like it lacked depth of flavor. The cream was sweet but other than that it didn't interest my flavor wise. The tea however was delicious, the combination of mango and jasmine was refreshing. There was a lot of ice in the drink so I finished it in a few sips, so portion wise it's small but tastes great.
THE BEST SCALLION PANCAKES YOU'LL HAVE! Seriously so good I could eat 50 of them. Got the one with eggs and bacon inside (bec) and the sauce it came with was so good. On top of that the pastries were to die for. Would love to come back here for the burgers that they have after 3pm. It gets busy in the mornings especially on the weekends but we weren't waiting toooo long for the food. Friendly service!
A Taiwanese fusion bakery with an eponymous restaurant across the street, Win Son's staff aren't Taiwanese but its founders are. It's got both sweet and savory foods, and is mostly known for its pastries. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Lots of indoor and outdoor seating, and the food is brought to your table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the pork fan tuan (rice roll), soymilk + yao tiao (fried donut), scallion pancake, and snow pea leaves for our savory portion, and the mochi donut, banana tart, and chocolate bolo bao (pineapple bun) for dessert. The pancakes and mochi donut are must-gets, but my sleeper pick would be the simple yet refreshing snow pea shoots. Having just returned from Taiwan myself, I thought the soymilk tasted fresh and authentic, but the fan tuan was so-so (too dense and missing the pickles). I'd also pass on the chocolate bun, although if you like pain au chocolat, it tastes similar. I definitely need to come back for their red date cakes and peanut butter croissant (sold out when we arrived but they're regular menu items). Thankfully, there's a Win Son location in Manhattan as well so I won't need to travel to Brooklyn every time. Still, I'd make the trek out here again!
I've been super excited to try this place because I love Asian fusion places and have been eyeing the BEC scallion pancake. Let me first start off with the fact that I did go on a Saturday morning so the lines were super long. Even after my fiancé and I got on line, we watched people pile up behind us. The service however was still great and they tried their best to get to everyone as quickly as they could. After you order, they give you a table number that you take with you and place at any empty seating area. After that, they will look for your table number and drop your order off to you. Now, for the food. We got the wintermelon milk tea to start off with which was just okay. We didn't live it or hate it. After, we got the iced soy milk which came with a crispy dough stick. I really enjoyed the soy milk because it was very lightly sweetened but the fried dough stick was overly tough and it was only palatable because we dipped it into the soy milk. After, we tried the Pork Fan Tuan. I love dried pork floss and sticky rice so I was excited for this one and it did not disappoint. I think the only thing I wished was that the dough stick again was a little softer because it was quite tough. Then, we tried the Crème Brulee French Toast which was okay. I wish they did something to the other side of the toast as well because I think only bruleeing one side and not having a moist center made the dish seem a little one note. Now, for the star of the show, the BEC Scallion Pancake was soooo good. The only disappointing part of this was that we didn't get another one. The idea of putting bacon, egg and cheese into a scallion pancake was actually genius and I will come back just for this!
I've wanted to try Win Son Bakery forever, and it didn't disappoint! The scallion BEC was delicious, and I liked the dipping sauce it came with. We also got the mochi donut and custard toast - I loved the saltiness and the texture of the mochi donut, but I'd skip the custard toast next time as the flavors just felt flat to me. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu though! We came around 1pm on a Saturday and the line wasn't as egregious as I anticipated. The scallion pancake egg & cheese - yum, tastes exactly how you think it will. The dip they provided wasn't my cup of tea, it had a bit of a ketchup taste which I don't like but I know many people do. A bit odd that they have Mexican hot sauce only - I think a SE Asian hot sauce or at least one that isn't vinegar-based would complement the flavors better. Chicken box (5 spice option) - I'm told it was wonderful and very crispy! The side salad was a bit heavily dressed but the dressing was a nice slightly salty yuzu flavor. Caramel date iced latte - good, nothing out of this world, some bits at the bottom so if that bothers you, stir well or just skip it. I was debating ranking the overall experience 4 vs 5 stars and then I tried the mochi donut and it alone wins the establishment 5 stars. As a native Californian I have eaten many a mochi donut and this is by FAR the best - the flavor, the perfect balance of bready and chewy texture, the sweet and slightly salty coating on the outside. Incredible. I could eat 2 or 3 in one go if I let myself. Would come back for just the mochi donut even without everything else. Makes me want to try more of their pastries.
[[HIGHLIGHT]]Came here midafternoon on a Thursday and they were fairly busy. Didn't take me long to order but most seats were taken. If possible I'd try to go at an off time, especially if you're with more than one other person[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I came across this spot because of the scallion pancake egg sandwiches and went for the BEC, it lived up to the hype and then some. One of the best and most unique breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. I also decided to try their xian doujiang as I'd never had a soy milk soup before and it was also really yummy! To me it tasted like an Asian French onion soup, lighter since there's no cheese and a bit more "spiced" from the ginger (I think). Was very soothing on a yucky cold April day I'm very glad I came and think it's well worth going out of your way to try!
How good is the scallion pancake bacon egg and cheese? Well, I got in a fight with my wife, and after I gave her half of it, we suddenly couldn't remember what we were fighting about. To be sure, it's a bit of an oily gutbomb, but I mean that in the absolute best way. I adore a slightly oily gutbomb. And this one is an utter delight...and that's before you even factor in the sauce. The sauce is called Ginger Deluxe, and I'm not sure how to properly describe it. It seems that the internet is also a big fan of this creamy, chunky, flavor bomb. Enough that there are recipes floating around there that seem to involve ginger (obviously), scallions, garlic, mayonnaise, ketchup, fermented bean curd, and mustard. I'm going to be making this sauce going forward. Anyway, this scallion pancake bacon egg and cheese could end conflicts around the world, provided that you serve it with the ginger deluxe sauce. I hope the United Nations follows my reviews as closely as you do, dear reader, and we'll be able to bring about world peace soon enough.
I've been here a handful of times and most recently tried the xia scallion shrimp pancake and mochi donut, both very yummy! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The outdoor section is cute with lots of little tables, inside is nice too but a little noisier.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Quite busy on the weekends and it can take a minute for the food to come out. The pancake, which I've tried before, has a crispy scallion pancake outside, shrimp patty, egg, and cheese with a spicy mayo esque dipping sauce. The mochi donut was pillowy and chewy and not too sweet, not super flavorful though. They're good at what they do, and it's always satisfying. I just think they could kick it up a notch flavor-wise, maybe add some fresh or pickled elements to the pancake, more spice or even a hint of sweet. I'll keep going back but I don't think it's anything that'll knock your socks off.
I was so excited to finally be able to try this girls spot! The bakery is open late which I love, though some items were sold out. The stand out dishes were - shrimp burger, absolutely amazing and super fluffy and tasty. - pork fan tuan, a taiwanese classic and it was absolutely delicious. smaller than a classic one but still so tasty (a little hard to open) now the wasabi salad was okay, as expected my boyfriend ordered the shrimp turnip cake, which was lowkey dry and bland even with the sauce and the three cup chicken chopped cheese was such a good concept but lacked flavor, almost as if it wasn't made with soy sauce! it was dissatisfying but everything else was quite good.

I've been eyeing Win Son for awhile now, but it's a bit out of the way for me to get to. On a Saturday evening, I finally found myself off the L train, so we came for a late lunch or early dinner. Even at 3pm, there was a line of 6-8 people ahead of us, which I heard is pretty short for Win Son. You order at the cashier and then have your food brought out to you. We were able to find a nice outdoor seat to people watch. They also offered water, but had to ask for some ice as the lukewarm water was not it. Between the two of us, we got the Jiucai Pancake ($15), Fried Chicken Milk Bun ($17), Turnip Cake ($4), Custard Toast ($6), and two canned drinks ($4 each). The favorite was definitely the jiucai pancake, which was savory and tasty with cheese oozing out. It was a bit messy to eat, but so worth it. Don't be intimated that it's vegetarian, but this scallion pancake is filled with chives, rice noodles, havarti, shallots, and egg that infuses into a wonderful medley. I also enjoyed the custard toast with its creamy topping that was toasted. While I also enjoyed the turnip cake, it's so pricey for one when you can usually get 3 at a dim sum spot. The turnip cake has a more crispy texture than the classic version as well. The fried chicken was a bit too crunchy and not as tender, especially since the milk bun is so soft in contrast. Overall, the food is delicious but too pricey for the portions you get here. This is an Americanized version of Taiwanese classics, so the price reflects the elevation. I'd only come back for the scallion pancake sandwiches, which are definitely a unique and delicious item on the menu. read more
Scallion pancake-- incredible!! Perfectly crisp and tasty. Def recommend!! Mochi donut- okay this left me speechless. Best donut I've ever had ever. I'm from Houston where we know our donuts (and yes, we have mochi donuts too) but I have never had a donut like this one. The texture was def something to experience--I got one to go and had it later in the day and it still had a soft and spongy interior with a crisp exterior. The flavor was sweet yet also had a slight tang. Choco chip toffee cookie-- great size and crisp. Good snack but I would pick the donut over the cookie. read more

Overall rating: 4.5 Price: $36 with tax & tip I was in the neighborhood, starving, just needing something to eat. I've been to the restaurant across the street so expected similar food. There are some overlaps, but it's not 1:1. I got the "chop'd cheese" and date caramel latte. - San Bei Ji Chop'd Cheese: 3/5, I don't think it was necessary to call this a chop'd cheese bc the only similarity is that it has cheese. It was more of a wrap, Philly cheese steak style. It was really hard to eat & very messy. - Date Caramel Latte 10/5, I would literally travel back just for this. Omg it was so good. This is already a popular spot, so it really doesn't matter if I recommend it or not. But, maybe just order something different. Service was friendly. Been waiting to come to Win Son bakery for the longest time and so excited to have finally tried it. As of writing this review, separately, they are doing a popup at Union Square so it's more accessible than ever. I happened to go after my visit to the original location and though it was crowded the quality was still good. Came for the Beef tongue egg and cheese which was amazing. Love scallion pancake and using it as bread for a breakfast sandwich is an amazing idea i don't know why it hasn't been done before. The mochi donut was quite delicious too and perfect chewy texture - flavor of red rice which is something my brand of Chinese people (Fuzhounese) tends to use quite a bit in our dishes so that was fun to see! Not too sweet, and kind of savory. The twice baked bolo bao also had a nice crunchy textue about it, similar to a croissant. Want to return for more menu items as they also do dinner-type items as well! read more
I knew this place was poplar, but I clearly underestimated just how much. We got there around 1pm on a Sunday and the line was huge. After ordering it took another solid while until the food and drinks were ready. It was take out only when we got there. Latte ($5): Pretty good coffee for a decent price. Came much faster than the food so sadly we had long finished it by the time we got the pastries. Egg + Cheese Scallion Pancake ($14): This was my favorite item. They're definitely generous with the cheese and I loved the dip it came with. However, I think $14 is a bit steep considering it's not enough to make an entire meal by itself. Cream Bun ($5): Yummy pastries with cream filling. Definitely a solid choice. Custard Toast ($6): I was very curious about this but unfortunately it wasn't my thing. The toast is rather thick, and while the custard on top is yummy, it still seemed a bit dry to me due to the thickness. Might have helped to have some coffee to go with it.. Overall the pastries were yummy, but considering the long wait, no seating, and the fact that we didn't get the food and drinks at the same time, I'm not able to give more than three stars unfortunately. I'd love to try and come back on a weekday if I ever get the chance and try some more of their menu. read more

this taiwanese breakfast bakery is the perfect place to start your morning! i came on a sunday, and there was a line but no more than a 20 minute wait. got the bec scallion pancake - it's a lot bigger than it looks! the pancakes can be slightly oily since they're hot and fresh off the pan but they are so delicious and filling. the tian doujiang is also such a classic and comes with chinese donuts for you to dip in to soak up the sweet soy milk. the custard buns were also tasty - super soft and pillowy, plus not too sweet! read more
I absolutely enjoyed everything I had here. The vanilla bean bun is one of the best tasting desserts I've ever had and we absolutely smashed the fried chicken as soon as it was placed down. Noting that it is a very small space and they are incredibly busy so you will be surrounded by people and noise the entire time, especially if you go on a weekend. There was not any staff managing the crowd or line which I think they absolutely could do so that's why I got rid of a star. The selection is wide and they have a lot of flavors and food options, so it's worth stopping in if you're in the neighborhood! read more

This place was so hyped on social media that I had very high expectations :( everything is incredibly overpriced for a bland food. From the three things we go the fan Tuan was the best but it was still very dry and the pork floss was hard. The ceasar salad was nothing special and for $18 should at least come with a protein. The fries were just fried but the dipping sauce was nice. read more

Popular Taiwanese fusion food in Williamsburg! Service is quick and efficient with a bar area and self seating option. There are decent numbers of seats inside and outside but are usually filled on the weekends and weekdays. Highly recommend the scallion pancakes sandwiches! Only con is that the food is quite pricey. read more
A new must visit in Brooklyn for me! I am still dreaming of the scallion pancake BEC and fan tuan they were that good. Inside Win Son is a clean minimalist aesthetic where you order at the counter before finding a seat or taking to go. Even though it's a popular spot and busy on a Saturday, my group was able to find seating. Service was a bit slow but kind and attentive! read more
I'd been hearing about this place for a while now and so I finally made the trek to Brooklyn to get dinner here with a friend. We each got a bacon egg and cheese scallion pancake and split a big box chicken with the sweet and savory sauce. The chicken was perfectly cooked and the sauce was really good. It tasted kind of like a mix of hoisin and barbecue sauce. The fries had an interesting seasoning that was slightly spicy and savory. The bacon egg and cheese with the scallion pancake was served piping hot (definitely wait a bit before picking it up!) and was also tasty, although I'd say the chicken was better. Overall this place is definitely good spot to hit up for a casual meal and next time I come here I want to get the fan tuan. read more
I have heard amazing things about their "breakfast sandwich" and finally saw the menu - everything looked delicious! We got the BEC, fan tuan, and chicken box (5 spice), which was a lot for two people as the sandwich is quite heavy. We also got the iced oolong tea which was very good. The BEC was tasty and I loved it with the ginger sauce (and I typically hate ginger!). The scallion pancake was so flaky and good, wish the scallion flavor shined through more. Fan Tuan was so crisp inside and I loved that it had an egg. I was full before touching the chicken, which was so so crispy outside but juicy inside. Our friends got a bunch of smaller goods that all looked tasty, including the Jiucai Sandwich, which I liked a lot better than the BEC and would come back for. It had chives and thin noodles inside the scallion pancake - like a chive dumpling, but with cheese! It was super tasty. It was crowded inside with a line and was hard to grab a table, we had the standing table. Unfortunately the bus boy threw our leftover chicken away when we asked for a box, which was just a miscommunication. Overall, I would definitely come back or even try the restaurant. read more
Been hearing about this place for a while and needed a breakfast spot after my red eye so I came by here. It was not too crowded, was able to snag a table. It has a cute cafe vibe to it. The fantuan was definitely the main item that drew me in and it was a tasty bite but the bite part is accurate because it's pretty small in size. You could give it to a kid as a snack. I probably could've had a second and still ate something else too. I wasn't as pleased with the second item I got which was a bread pastry. Now I wish I had gone with the turnip cake or scallion pancake or anything else that I was considering. I'd come back to try the other items but only if some friends wanted to go - not a place to go out of your way for! read more
Ordered BEC scallion pancake - had this first. The bacon was over powering, and was too salty for my taste. Mochi donut - this wasn't sweet at all even though it had a sugar coating. It was a little salty... Chicken wings + fries There are seats outside and inside, which we didn't have to wait too long for. It is first come first serve for the tables. The tables are around the same size and can fit at most 4 people. This is mainly self server where you order from the cashier and they give you a table number. Food is brought to you. Win Son Bakery has been on my radar to try for a while now, and with the holiday weekend and a lot of people out of town, my partner and I thought it was the perfect opportunity to swing by! We arrived at about 10:45, and the line was pretty short (the end of the line was right at the door). It seemed to get a bit longer around 11, 11:15, extending outside. The line did move pretty quickly though, we placed our order within 10 minutes of being in the line. We split the beef tongue pastrami egg and cheese, along with the pork fan tuan. The egg sandwich was delicious and the ginger sauce paired well with it. I really liked the crunch of the scallion pancake! The pork fan tuan also delightful with a sweet crunchy pork. All in all, really really enjoyed grabbing breakfast here and would certainly recommend to others! read more
There are several times a month that I wake up in the morning craving Win Son bakery's egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. The idea of a scallion pancake breakfast sandwich is such a fabulous invention, and the creamy ginger side sauce that Win Son serves with it - wow, there's nothing better on a Saturday morning. The lattes are perfection; however, I would recommend not getting the sweet potato latte - it tasted like drinking a blended sweet potato, which was quite unpleasant. The vibe of the Williamsburg bakery is so charming, and the din of voices in the air is one of the best parts. The service is surprisingly quick however the line can be pretty long on a weekend morning! read more
I had the juicai pancake egg & cheese sandwich, ban cai, and chocolate peanut butter bolo bao. The pancake was my favorite - hearty from the filling with a crispy texture. It's very greasy, which does make it kind of a mess to eat, but the flavor is otherwise pretty good. Ban cai had cucumbers, onions, and fried peanuts served cold in a sauce that seemed like vinegar and sesame oil among other things. Great refreshing flavor, but I felt that $16 was a bit steep for the small dish. The bolo bao was just alright. The texture was flaky, but the filling felt a bit dry. I'd get a different pastry. Overall, the meal was $40, which is probably about average. read more
Came here with a friend whos saw this on social media. The bakery is bright, spacious, and very clean! Servers were very attentive and kept our waters full and dishes cleared. I went with the recommendation of the cashier and tried their bacon, egg, and cheese scallion pancake. It was delicious, messy, and heavy all together. The dipping sauce it comes with really is a must as it would be too salty/savory without it. By the time I finished it I was full for a very long time lol. Despite it being a bakery, its definitely a full meal. read more

i was ecstatic when i found out about their Winson's pop up in Manhattan. It is located in inside Valatta. You can easily missed the spot, at least for me when trying to find the entrance. The server was nice and 30-40 mins wait was as expected. You can order out or sit in, and they would call out your number and bring the food out to you. So, no need to stand inside and wait to get your food because they will bring it out if you opt to sit outdoor. Food: Jiucai pancake: i opt for this since i love scallions and thought the flavor was great. The sauce will elevate it even more. i know they're popular for their BEC, but I can already imagine what it taste like Tiao sando: this is new on their menu and i like the creativity behind it. I thought it could have more flavor since i think most of it comes from the roasted/sweet peppers. Millet Mochi donut: Nothing spectacular for me. i was hopping for the texture to be more chewy. If you visit NY and don't come here you're actually doing yourself so dirty. Come even if you don't know what a fan tuan if because I PROMISE you once you get a pork fan tuan you'll never forget about it. I never though a mochi donut could change my life but we went 2 for 2 on spectacular surprises this visit. Finally we got the scallion pancake BEC and though it was good it was just too greasy for my taste but the sauce it comes with is amazing and helps cut that slightly. I would say get multiple mochi donuts and multiple fan tuans and then whatever else you try is probably awesome. Tops my list of breakfast/bakeries for these two items alone read more

Keepin it real out here in Brooklyn Ngl I was a bit skeptical about this spot because of all the hype, the type of food they serve, and the location. The prices were definitely high, but still reasonable for the neighborhood. Surprisingly, the food was better than I expected. It's a pretty solid spot for Asian-inspired cuisine. Finally got a chance to try their scallion pancake sandwiches and I definitely see why they're so popular! I stopped in at 2 PM on a weekday so there wasn't a line, but the place itself was still packed with people. It's relatively spacious with a generous amount of inside and outside seating. I tried the BEC and the mortadella. Both of them came with a delicious ginger-y mayo-based sauce. They were both fantastic in different ways, but as a big brunch fan, the BEC was definitely my favorite. The mortadella was delicious as well, and the addition of the pepperoncini was excellent! It was a bit too heavy for me, but for someone with a larger appetite or who's craving more of a deli-esque sandwich, this is a wonderful option. I would come back just for that BEC scallion pancake sandwich or to try anything else on their menu. This is truly a Brooklyn gem worth the hype. read more
We came here at a perfect time a few minutes before 11 am on Saturday and did not have to wait on a long line. A few minutes later the line was out the door. We also lucked out and got a little spot to sit. We ordered the bacon egg and cheese on a scallion pancake, and the Jiucai Pancake. I also got a caramel latte, sarsaparilla soda and a mochi donut. The bill came out to $51 The coffee and donut were really yummy, however i did not like the pieces of dates at the bottom of my coffee (the caramel is Date caramel) I appreciate that they make the caramel, but I feel it should be strained and not have chunks of dates in your coffee. I liked both the scallion pancake sandwiches but i was expecting more. they weren't crispy enough. They were actually a bit soggy. I think if you're charging top dollar the product should be perfection. Pro tip, get your food to go and go across the street to their extra seating to sit and enjoy your food. read more
I decided to and try the "viral" bec scallion pancake. Restaurant was super busy thanks to instagram "food bloggers" ((eye roll.)) you at the counter and hope for the best to find a seat. Hipster crowd. First off...was this the best thing I've ever had like everyone makes it seem? No. Is it good? Yes, but very greasy. Like anyone else in nyc I'm sure you have tried some form of a scallion pancake and some are really really good, so I already knew what to expect when coming here. Real review: As stated above, very very greasy...not sure if I was supposed to take a napkin to soak off the grease or not, but anyways, the inside was bacon, a thin egg and some cheese. Comes with a side of sauce. Really wasn't a fan of the sauce to be honest. I liked it with the ketchup better. Everyone on IG needs to calm down with voting this the best in nyc because it's not. I came here for brunch with my friends. It's pretty busy but we were able to find a seat after not waiting too long. I got the Fan Tuan and BEC Sandwich. We also shared a White Sesame Caesar for the table. I would say the fan tuan was delicious and so worth the hype. The BEC sandwich was good but not amazing and quite oily. The caesar salad was such a great twist on a caesar. We really enjoyed it! read more

This review is for the pop up in Manhattan. Win Son was easy to find with a sign and menu outside the pop up at Vallata. I arrived after 1:30pm and there was a short and quick line to order. The person at the counter said they only do take out orders after 1:30 pm and the BEC would be a 30 minute wait. I appreciated that they warned me about the wait time, and my order was actually ready in 15 minutes! There is counter seating and two large benches to wait/eat and a few tables outside. The millet mochi donut had a great mochi texture and was very soft and chewy with just the right amount of sweetness. I ate the pork fan tuan a few hours after getting it, and did not refrigerate or reheat it. The fan tuan was rolled tightly and kept its structure. Inside was pork floss, egg, and a cruller. The cruller was very crunchy and paired well with the jammy egg. The filling was salty and the proportion of rice to filling was perfect! The fan tuan is good for a snack, but it would not be filling as a meal by itself. I wasn't able to eat the BEC fresh so I reheated the BEC in the air fryer. The BEC was a bit heavy and oily for my preference, and I enjoyed it more with the sauce than without. Overall everything was tasty and I would go back to try the other items! read more
Creative bakery with interesting selections. I have to admit I was a bit confused walking in at first because I was expecting classic Taiwanese breakfast/bakery just to realize this was more of a Taiwanese-inspired fusion bakery. I was a little disappointed, however I think that's also the reason why this place remained so popular since the fusion aspect caters to a wider range of clientele. Would love to come back again and try more of their pastries and maybe also get some savory breakfast items. read more
Cute little bakery with AMAZING breakfast and pastry options! Their mochi donut is the best donut I have ever had and I think about it daily. The consistency of it is like no other! I also found a new favorite food in the Pork Fan Tuan! Such an interesting savory dish with a great crunch from the donut. The custard toast is a must get! this place had a lot of hype on tiktok, and honestly? it delivered. my experience was not exactly ideal because i got it delivered and that took a solid hour. not the restaurant's fault, but definitely something to keep in mind if you are thinking about ordering. the scallion pancakes? super crispy in theory, but by the time they got to me, they were a little soft and kind of oily. im guessing they are fresh when you eat them in person, though. the sauce? absolute fire. creamy, rich, and packed with flavor--lowkey the star of the meal. read more

Win Son Bakery has been all over social media, so I was excited to finally give it a try. I ordered the turnip cake and scallion pancake, while my friends had a few other dishes, including the fan tuan (not pictured). The turnip cake and scallion pancake were crispy, delicious, and even better with the two sauces that came with them. Definitely a highlight of the meal. The fan tuan, on the other hand, didn't leave much of an impression and felt overpriced. We could've skipped it and not missed much. The ambiance was nice--think cute, cozy café vibes. Came here with a family of 5 around 12 and luckily got a table outside. Line was a bit long but it went quick and you can get water on tap. Bec - fun concept but I've had better scallion pancakes and breakfast sandwiches Bo lo BAO - super flakey and just the right amount of sweetness Fan Tuan - this was so small! Feels like a day club on the weekends. You've got the bouncer regulating the line, packed bodies, bartender/barista, and of course, the bussin old school hip hop music. A friend and I came after trotting catty corner from the restaurant for brunch, and even on a rainy morning, people were spilling out onto the covered patio and waiting outside in line to get to the indoors line. I guess we needed some time to digest and process the menu anyway. One design issue I had was the location of the restrooms (get the keypad code from a staff member) at the end of the area where the line to order forms. But hey, gotta work with what NYC retail space gives you. We ordered a sampling of baked goods, the BEC, and a black sesame latte. Everything is presumed and packaged to be to-go, but you can try your luck at getting a seat inside or outside depending on the time of day. A water dispenser, napkins, and utensils are located on top of the trash receptacles near the merch rack, as well as the Wi-Fi code. Make sure you keep an ear out over the music and general crowd noise for your name. The latte was a bit disappointing since we couldn't taste the black sesame at all, but would have been a good latte. The Almond Twice-Baked Bo Lo Bao was incredibly tasty and crunchy with a pleasantly surprising layer of red bean paste inside, and I would easily eat one of these every morning. The Rhubarb Oolong Cake was similarly satisfying. The Vegan Taro Cake was pretty mid in comparison. We waited probably 45 minutes for my friend's BEC to finally get delivered from the kitchen. Once again, Win Son wins in the texture department with a sharp contrast between the savory crispness of the roll, and pungent mustardy dipping sauce. I am not sure I would wait another 45 minutes for one again though. Would love to return and try their other sandos and fan tuan, but probably at off times to avoid the wait and crowds. read more
