I've been here a handful of times and most recently tried the xia scallion shrimp pancake and mochi donut, both very yummy! The outdoor section is cute with lots of little tables, inside is nice too but a little noisier. Quite busy on the weekends and it can take a minute for the food to come out. The pancake, which I've tried before, has a crispy scallion pancake outside, shrimp patty, egg, and cheese with a spicy mayo esque dipping sauce. The mochi donut was pillowy and chewy and not too sweet, not super flavorful though. They're good at what they do, and it's always satisfying. I just think they could kick it up a notch flavor-wise, maybe add some fresh or pickled elements to the pancake, more spice or even a hint of sweet. I'll keep going back but I don't think it's anything that'll knock your socks off.

Soy milk, BEC Scallion Pancake, Crème Brûlée French toast, Pork Fan Tuan

I've been super excited to try this place because I love Asian fusion places and have been eyeing the BEC scallion pancake. Let me first start off with the fact that I did go on a Saturday morning so the lines were super long. Even after my fiancé and I got on line, we watched people pile up behind us. The service however was still great and they tried their best to get to everyone as quickly as they could. After you order, they give you a table number that you take with you and place at any empty seating area. After that, they will look for your table number and drop your order off to you. Now, for the food. We got the wintermelon milk tea to start off with which was just okay. We didn't live it or hate it. After, we got the iced soy milk which came with a crispy dough stick. I really enjoyed the soy milk because it was very lightly sweetened but the fried dough stick was overly tough and it was only palatable because we dipped it into the soy milk. After, we tried the Pork Fan Tuan. I love dried pork floss and sticky rice so I was excited for this one and it did not disappoint. I think the only thing I wished was that the dough stick again was a little softer because it was quite tough. Then, we tried the Crème Brulee French Toast which was okay. I wish they did something to the other side of the toast as well because I think only bruleeing one side and not having a moist center made the dish seem a little one note. Now, for the star of the show, the BEC Scallion Pancake was soooo good. The only disappointing part of this was that we didn't get another one. The idea of putting bacon, egg and cheese into a scallion pancake was actually genius and I will come back just for this!

I've wanted to try Win Son Bakery forever, and it didn't disappoint! The scallion BEC was delicious, and I liked the dipping sauce it came with. We also got the mochi donut and custard toast - I loved the saltiness and the texture of the mochi donut, but I'd skip the custard toast next time as the flavors just felt flat to me. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu though! We came around 1pm on a Saturday and the line wasn't as egregious as I anticipated. I definitely appreciated that there's a good amount of seating too!!

Scallion egg and cheese, chicken box (five spice), mochi donut

The scallion pancake egg & cheese - yum, tastes exactly how you think it will. The dip they provided wasn't my cup of tea, it had a bit of a ketchup taste which I don't like but I know many people do. A bit odd that they have Mexican hot sauce only - I think a SE Asian hot sauce or at least one that isn't vinegar-based would complement the flavors better. Chicken box (5 spice option) - I'm told it was wonderful and very crispy! The side salad was a bit heavily dressed but the dressing was a nice slightly salty yuzu flavor. Caramel date iced latte - good, nothing out of this world, some bits at the bottom so if that bothers you, stir well or just skip it. I was debating ranking the overall experience 4 vs 5 stars and then I tried the mochi donut and it alone wins the establishment 5 stars. As a native Californian I have eaten many a mochi donut and this is by FAR the best - the flavor, the perfect balance of bready and chewy texture, the sweet and slightly salty coating on the outside. Incredible. I could eat 2 or 3 in one go if I let myself. Would come back for just the mochi donut even without everything else. Makes me want to try more of their pastries.

Xian Doujiang and BEC Scallion Pancake

Came here midafternoon on a Thursday and they were fairly busy. Didn't take me long to order but most seats were taken. If possible I'd try to go at an off time, especially if you're with more than one other person I came across this spot because of the scallion pancake egg sandwiches and went for the BEC, it lived up to the hype and then some. One of the best and most unique breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. I also decided to try their xian doujiang as I'd never had a soy milk soup before and it was also really yummy! To me it tasted like an Asian French onion soup, lighter since there's no cheese and a bit more "spiced" from the ginger (I think). Was very soothing on a yucky cold April day I'm very glad I came and think it's well worth going out of your way to try!

Delicious sesame seed latte and black sesame morning bun. The custard toast was the STAR, so good. This is a really cute cafe and bar that you can spend time sitting in. I would love to try their savory foods next time!

How good is the scallion pancake bacon egg and cheese? Well, I got in a fight with my wife, and after I gave her half of it, we suddenly couldn't remember what we were fighting about. To be sure, it's a bit of an oily gutbomb, but I mean that in the absolute best way. I adore a slightly oily gutbomb. And this one is an utter delight...and that's before you even factor in the sauce. The sauce is called Ginger Deluxe, and I'm not sure how to properly describe it. It seems that the internet is also a big fan of this creamy, chunky, flavor bomb. Enough that there are recipes floating around there that seem to involve ginger (obviously), scallions, garlic, mayonnaise, ketchup, fermented bean curd, and mustard. I'm going to be making this sauce going forward. Anyway, this scallion pancake bacon egg and cheese could end conflicts around the world, provided that you serve it with the ginger deluxe sauce. I hope the United Nations follows my reviews as closely as you do, dear reader, and we'll be able to bring about world peace soon enough.

I was so excited to finally be able to try this girls spot! The bakery is open late which I love, though some items were sold out. The stand out dishes were - shrimp burger, absolutely amazing and super fluffy and tasty. - pork fan tuan, a taiwanese classic and it was absolutely delicious. smaller than a classic one but still so tasty (a little hard to open) now the wasabi salad was okay, as expected my boyfriend ordered the shrimp turnip cake, which was lowkey dry and bland even with the sauce and the three cup chicken chopped cheese was such a good concept but lacked flavor, almost as if it wasn't made with soy sauce! it was dissatisfying but everything else was quite good.

people told me that this place was overhyped and I'm here to say that the food was FIRE. Especially the desserts. I still dream about that vanilla creme bun. The BEC scallion pancake was also really good- the sauce was fantastic that went with it. Fresh and flavorful. I did take out so i can't speak to the in person experience but so worth it

Busy spot on a long Labour Day weekend.

Perfect NYC breakfast spot for our first morning meal. We got in the lineup at around 11AM on a long weekend holiday Monday, Labour Day in 2025. Since it was such a pleasant day in Brooklyn to be outside and hanging around, the lineup was part of the fun rather than something to be endured, and being from Toronto we love our lineups, so no big deal. I asked for some recos at the order desk to save time and loaded up our savoury order with some of their Asian style pancakes and coffees. Everything was delicious! Worth seeking one of these places out, especially if you are in the mood for something different with your latte, rather than a typical bacon and eggs, sweet baked treat at a Euro place. You won't be disappointed!

Soymilk Laminated Bolo Bao Custard Toast Millet Mochi Donut

Win Son was a fun place to visit for more unique pastries and drinks. Everything I got, in order from favorite to least favorite (I liked everything): -Custard toast: This was nice and creamy, soft, and a little sweet and salty. Haven't had anything like this in the city -Sweet soy milk: I love soy milk with the fried dough stick since it is a comfort food to me. The soy milk is nice on a cold day and it's not too sweet. -Laminated bolo bao: This isn't my favorite take on a bolo bun because it was more airy like a croissant, rather than a sweet bun that's denser. It was still good though, but was more like a croissant the a sweet crumble topping of a bolo bun. -Mochi donut: If you like a mochi chewy texture I think you'd like this. It has a nice sugary outside and a soft chewy inside! Inside, they have table seating, a communal table to stand at, and bar seating. They also have some outdoor dining seating.

In theory, Win Son Bakery is right up my alley- Asian inspired flavors and modern takes on Asian breakfast foods. However when I visited the first time, nothing on the menu really sounded appealing to me. Since I was in the area again, I finally decided to try some pastries. The laminated bolo bao sounds perfect. The idea is there: croissant dough with the classic bolo bao sugar crust. But the execution lacks greatly. The shape of the bao makes it nearly impossible to enjoy the crust without it just falling right off. There isn't much crust to begin with either and at $6 a piece, it feels very underwhelming. The fermented red rice donut tasted like a standard donut with icing. Not sure where the fermented red rice comes in, aside from the icing being red. Also, I tend to prefer lighter donuts and this donut was quite dense. I think a mochi texture could have worked better. It's a lovely neighborhood spot that always seems to be busy, but I'm not sure I'd stop in again. Maybe for their famed scallion pancakes, but at that price point I might just consider making them myself.

Fan Tuan 10/10 Yummy delicious , perfectly cooked rice wrapped around flavorful filling of egg, pork, pork floss. There was also a Chinese doughnut/cruller in my takeout box with the fan tuan. I wish I dipped it in my soy milk but I drank it all during my commute before I knew that was in the box too. Tian Soy Milk 9/10 Good soy milk. Can't go wrong. Red Rice Donut: 8/10 Wow! What an amazing texture. Really well-made donut. The texture was bouncy yet firm. Substantial yet light. The glaze was not too sweet. I just don't think it had much flavor in terms of whatever red rice would taste like. So I assume red rice is more for the novelty in the name rather than for flavor uniqueness. Great service and friendly smiles from everyone there. Great music. Would come back to do work and order other bites to try.

However, I was quickly proven wrong. Not only was the service topnotch, but the drinks were surprisingly delicious and refreshing. There's a ton of options which is also surprising considering the tap only format. Upon further reflection of how tiny the bar is, it makes sense why they would go this route. It would be challenging for one person let alone two to be behind that bar shaking and stirring. I also heard there's a back area with more seating but we didn't explore much further than the front bar stool seating. We were lucky to grab 2 seats at the bar as the rest of the seating actually seemed a bit cramped and uninviting. They advertise a heated back patio but I don't think the heat was on and no one was there, which is a bummer. Regardless, the theme is nice with everything attributable to their "laboratory" ambience. Everything is served in beakers or similar glasses. It can get a bit crowded sitting at the bar as that's where everyone orders drinks but otherwise this was quite enjoyable. Will definitely keep on the list for HH.
