The crab was very fresh and each crostini had a large portion of crab on top. The Brussels sprouts were very crispy and very umami with the cheese and bacon combination mixed in. The empanada was honestly a showstopper. I don't know how to describe it other than you have to try it. Both pastas were good but I prefer the mushroom one over the short rib ragu. The halibut was also good, and the basil sauce made it even better. I was already super impressed with everything but I think the stars were the 2 desserts. The Dubai cheesecake was an Italian style cheesecake, so it was a lot lighter than I was expecting (which was welcomed) and captured the essence of Dubai chocolate without being too overwhelming. The Lira in Wonderland was also SO good. It had a crown of cotton candy and was a mix of biscoff cookies, dehydrated red velvet cake (don't knock it till you try it), butterscotch sauce, and strawberries. I was honestly blown away by this meal.

Dishes arrived very late; we were nearly forgotten when we tried to order, and then after ordering, we waited 40 minutes between appetizers and the main course. Not because they were cooking it; they just forgot we were there and when they brought out the dishes, the scallops were no longer just-cooked, and the burger had been sitting for a bit. No apology, just an acknowledgment it was late, and no discount (not even on the stale bread). They offered us wine, we said we didn't drink, and they just moved on. I debated a lot about how to review this. It's my personal experience that was disappointing, and I'm glad some reviews are very upbeat. But there's a handful of reviews noting frustrating delays... and that needs to be worked on.

When we got inside, we were seated in the lounge area for dinner. Let's just say our knees were basically at our chests because two of us are 6'1" and 6'4". I can't even begin to say enough about how amazing it was. Camille was TOP NOTCH! She could handle every ounce of sarcasm we threw her way , and she consistently went above and beyond. If something didn't seem quite right, she was immediately there offering to make it right. We started with drinks, and I ordered the Spicy Marg. It came out without the spice, even though Camille had warned me beforehand that it was going to have some heat. She immediately offered to take it back and have it remade, but honestly, it was still really good and I didn't want to waste it. If it had sucked, trust me, I would've said something! My next favorite was the Fig'n Around. Not only because I'm married into a fig family , but because it was genuinely delicious. And one thing I really appreciated about both drinks was that they weren't overly sweet. Now... DINNER. We asked Camille for her recommendation between the 40 oz Tomahawk and the 30 oz Ribeye. She initially recommended the Tomahawk, but once we added the Captain's Catch to the order, she suggested we go with the Ribeye instead since there would already be plenty of food for all four of us. And she was absolutely right. Everything we had was SO good. The only real negative I walked away with that night was the mac & cheese. It was a little overcooked, which is exactly why I usually stay away from pasta. BUT -- do NOT let that deter you from coming here. That was such a minor thing compared to the overall experience. I honestly cannot wait until I'm back in the area because I will absolutely be going back. I'm already craving everything we had that night! Oh, and the saddest part of the whole evening... I ordered the white chocolate bread pudding to go and STILL haven't tasted it. I completely forgot about it because I'm not usually a dessert person! If you go, ask for Camille's section if she's working. She was fantastic. And no, before anyone asks -- I do NOT know Camille outside of this experience. She was just genuinely that good.

Still feeling this joint out as it is newer and may still have some growing pains. That being said, I am still willing to give them some more time to improve. 1. Wait: I find it rather off putting that there is no reservation system for parties under 6-8 (depends on who you talk to if you call the restaurant direct) but there is a weird system of putting your name on the list before you get there and having them tell you about how long it will be so you don't have to wait. I have not yet had to experience this but I can see the flaws glaring. Hopefully once the dust settles, they will realize that reservations are a great commodity for eaters that want to experience their restaurant but will not stand around for an hour and a half (Cheesecake Factory ruined a generation with that policy) 2. Service: First experience we sat at the community table in the bar and were promptly ignored for a good 15 minutes. Finally the woman who ended up becoming our server (and recovering the start of a 1 star experience) came by and asked if we had been serviced yet. After trying to find the person who was actually supposed to take care of us to no avail, she didn't miss a beat and provided excellent service. Second visit: Called ahead as I was instructed to ask about wait time on a beautiful Sunday afternoon and was told that there was no wait to which I replied "Ok, I'll be right in." We arrive 10/15 minutes later to find them still setting up and apparently not open for another hour! I explained to what appeared to be the manager the situation and he was not immediately helpful. "Well you can wait in the bar if you want but the kitchen does not open until 4." The girl who had provided the incorrect information also (not rudely or anything) was defending herself rather than just making it right so I was a little bit put off. I tried to find somewhere else to eat but the other members in my party were really keen on trying WH as I had raved about the food so we ended up coming back closer to 4 and were sat. Not horrible just off putting. Its like when you feel like there is something wrong with your Starbucks drink and ask for it to get remade, some baristas will immediately do it no questions asked with a smile and others will argue with you and let you know they did not make a mistake. When paying a premium for coffee or food, I expect the former... 3. Food: Comfort food with a fresh twist. Almost everything I have tasted I have liked. We did have one experience where the peppers that were sliced and placed in the salad were soooooo hot that it rendered the salad inedible but that's not something that the chef can necessarily;y control. I do have to mention that I have gotten the Thai steak salad 2 times and I am still not convinced that the noodles are rice noodles as I have never seen noodles like that for sale anywhere (my mom is gluten free which is the cause for concern). They reassured me both visits that they are but I would have liked to see the package and can't ask for that now as I've already questioned them twice. About this I could totally be wrong but the menu states rice noodles which are sprinkled on the top and does not profess to be GF though it would appear to be close. I still eat it though as it is quite delectable. 4. Drinks: Pretty good, they have some fun specially cocktails but nothing that I can remember as standout. They do have in stock Liquor 43 which is a Spanish Brandy derivative which when mixed with espresso over ice (called a Carajillo) is the best aperitif I've had. We had to talk our waiters through it both times as it is unusual which is totally fine but were disappointed the second go round as they have the large square ice for on the rocks sippers which we were served without ask the first time was replaced with scooped ice from the bin the second time. Can't fault them for that and will be sure to order it as I want next time. 5. Ambiance: The patio is lame and feels cramped and crowded. That is the space they have but I would likely not sit there again. I love that the bar is separate from the restaurant as I generally prefer to sit there as it is sans kiddos and the community able with plenty of space. 6. Price: Do not plan to get out of there with dinner and drinks for 2 under $100. It tots itself as a steakhouse so I expected high prices but this will not become a regular haunt as I don't find it totally justified. I will eat here again for comparison purposes but with the plethora of good food popping up in Campbell, it's got some stiff competition... read more

We can here last week for my brother's birthday. We were a group of ten. The service was top notch. Nick was our primary server. He made great recommendations and was very attentive. He's also hilarious. As for the food -- everything was excellent. The items that really stood out: Appetizers -Cheesy pesto bread (it's a huge sourdough roll stuffed with delicious mozzarella and pesto) -Fried green tomatoes (a cool, light app.) -House cut fries (fat wedges) Salads -Southern wedge (delicious -- must order) -Ceasar (classic) Entrees -Blackberry glazed filet mignon (fuc*ing amazing) (must order) -Peppercorn NY strip steak (it's neck to neck with the filet. You can't go wrong with either) -Sticky chicken (it's a fat piece of juicy breast meat) -Risotto with scallops (three very large, juicy, well cooked scallops) -Seared Ahi (not the best entree out of the above, but, still good nevertheless) Sides -Wasabi mashed potatoes (must order) -Brussels (I eat a ton of brussels sprouts, and these were damn good) -Loaded baked potato (pure gold) **avoid the pancetta mac and cheese. My wife and I decided to give Willard Hicks a try for Saturday lunch, but unfortunately, we left regretting our choice. Despite the restaurant being fairly empty, things took a turn as soon as we were seated. Our server (whose name I can't recall) greeted us with obvious disinterest, setting a poor tone right from the start. Since we'd waited a while, we already knew our order: two cocktails, the coconut shrimp, and shrimp ceviche. The service continued to be underwhelming. Our water arrived first, followed by the food, and finally our drinks. Our server even had to come back and ask what we'd ordered because he'd forgotten. Two cocktails and two appetizers shouldn't be that hard to keep track of. The food also missed the mark. The "coconut" shrimp had almost no coconut flavor and tasted strange, while the shrimp ceviche was mostly jicama and onions with hardly any shrimp. For $85, the experience fell far below expectations. Although I left a 15% tip, it felt unearned, especially since the busser was the most attentive staff member we encountered. As for the ambiance, it didn't hit the mark either. They seem to be aiming for a high-end steakhouse vibe, but honestly, it just felt confused. Took my cousin here for his birthday last night for a nice dinner. I've been here a few times and it's definitely been very pleasant. Made reservations for 7:30pm and got sat down about 10 mins after we got there. Ordered two Privilege Sidecars (Sidecar cocktail w/ Hennessy Privilege cognac). Midway through drinking it, I noticed my glass was chipped. As I notified our server, she quickly accommodated me with a new one. Bravo! Started with the Coconut Shrimp for appetizers. Fried shrimp that had a nice Thai flavor w/ some curry sauce. I can only imagine how much better it would taste drenched in that curry coconut sauce. For entrees, we both had the 18 oz bone in ribeye. Sauces came on the side and we decided to get peppercorn, spicy steak sauce and some horseradish aioli. Got to say that medium rare cut was near perfect in size and flavor. The redness and semi bloody aspect of the cut makes it super juicy! We shared some butter corn, sizzling mushrooms and cauliflower mash as sides. Everything was spot on! Great for parties, but be sure to make reservations as this place gets pretty packed for dinner. Me and my significant other were here for a date night. We made a reservation for 2 and asked for a booth and we were confirmed for 7:30PM. We arrive a couple minutes prior to our reservation and the host was seating us at a table. We kindly asked if we could please sit in a booth which there was one open and ready to be sat and as we requested. With out any thought or hesitation she said no due to the fact we are only 2 and booths are for more guests. The table we were sat at was a four top, the booths are 4 tops. It didn't make sense to me. 5 mins after we were sat they sat a 2 top at the open booth we asked for. When I asked to speak with a manager a "shift leader" came over and introduced himself to us. I explained my concern and wanted to know why we wouldn't be able to have the booth and after his further investigation he explained the couple at the booth were VIP's "the guy plays for sharks". At what point does a business need to know your occupation to seat you in certain areas with a reservation. I will do my best to spread the word. Please think twice before dining here. This should be a 1.5 star. I really wanted to like this place, but my experience there was definitely not good. I went there with my hubby and another couple. The appetizers were all pretty good, but nothing special. I ordered the Ginger Ponzu steak and it was wrongly brought to another table nearby. Meanwhile, everyone else in our party got their food and there I was just waiting. 1/2 an hour later, I inquired about it - no apology, nothing. They said they were still working on it, which was suspicious b/c the person that ended up with my food had JUST ordered. Then they tried to cover it up by hurriedly bringing me a replacement, EXCEPT that they forget to cook it!!! The meat could not even be classified as rare - I think they put it on the grill for 10 seconds. another 1/2 hour later, they brought me my food, again no apologies, nothing. All this, and the bill was still like $250 bucks. Word of advice WH - next time a mistake is made, own up to it and make up for it. It was a nice Wednesday night and seems Willard Hicks was the happening spot!!!! Went in with a larger group of people before a convention around 6pm. The inside of the building is amazing! There were a few other larger parties but the waiter was very attentive, professional, and on it. They were very busy but the service was on point . I started with a wedge salad! Had a great experience Saturday night! The place was buzzing, just a great feel and inviting ambiance. Our server Josh I believe educated us about the Chefs Specials. Wow! We were impressed by the plating first of all, and second, the flavors danced around on our taste buds like pop rocks. The skewers were awesome, and the special scallops were to die for. Why weren't these on the regular menu! Yummmmmmy. We had the filet with the parsnip purée and black berries I think. Soooo good, again, all the flavors balanced so well together. The manager even came to table, younger lad, very nice, and asked if we were okay, and how we were doing. Great service, great food! This place is a definite home run, I use to go to places like Los Altos Grill, Bourbon steak house, way over priced, and not as good. Really? We had reservations. First 15 minutes were spent standing behind ladies whose reservations had been lost. Tense situation and tempers rose. Then we were seated...took 15 mins to get menus and make drink orders...another 35 minutes to get the drinks (while more recent arrivals were served)...another 30 mins to get appetizers...another 20 to get the meal. Meanwhile, a couple got mad at a guy who came to the patio with a dog. The dog guy was kicked to the back. Huffy couple came back. When the food did arrive, it was overly sugared, cold, and served by a scared, mildly apologetic, clearly overworked waitress who said our original server disappeared and was talking to the manager (?)...a young befuddled fellow who discounted the meal...but not until more misunderstandings. Gosh, I hope this was a one-off experience. Sorry, WH. That was a weird, long evening. read more

I debated between 1 or 2 stars. No one was rude which was the only reason i would have given 2 stars. that is the best thing that can be said about this place is that no one was blatently rude. Other than that, it was HORRIBLE. The food was genuinly the worst food i think i have ever had from any resturant. we had a large party of people go her and NOT ONE of us enjoyed the food. The servicde was slow slow slow, and i cant get over HOW BAD THE FOOD was. It was unreal how bad EVERYTHING was. the prices are outrageous, but that is okay when going out to nice places. this place is ANYTHING but that. I wouldnt eat here again even if someone invited me to eat for free. DRY DRY rDRY ribs, terribl flavor. Meat is D grade or worse. FLAVORLESS burgers, steaks are poooooorrrrllly cooked and flavorless. I recently dined at Willard Hicks. My friend and I do weekly dinners trying places we've never been. Walking in the vibe inside and music playing was very inviting and I had high hopes, unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired. To start, the house cut fries lacked seasoning, but our server was nowhere to be found to address the issue. The French onion soup was a disappointment as the cheese topping was undercooked. As for the entree, the Spicy Asian Mamba came with a side salad that was disappointingly basic, consisting of romaine lettuce and wonton strips that I could have easily replicated at home, and with much better results. Despite these shortcomings, I must admit that the steak had good flavor, and the butter cake dessert was delightful. However, given the overall experience, it's unlikely that I'll be returning anytime soon. read more

Willard Hicks has it all: great affordable food, awesome service, ambience, and centrally located in a nice area with tons of street parking! We ordered Pesto Cheesy Bread to start. This was essentially monkey bread with pesto and gooey mozzarella cheese in the center. For entrees, we shared the Ginger Ponzu Ribeye which was a staggering 18oz of meat! Loved the flavor of this one but the cut of meat they used was horrible. Although giant, about 1/3 of it was just not edible. The Pappardelle Pasta was a surprising favorite - I liked the slight acidic tanginess from the balsamic which cut through an otherwise heavy dish. Sides were Mac & Cheese and Fries which I would pass on next time! We both noticed how this would be a great place for a group birthday dinner so will keep Willard Hicks in mind for the next one ;-) read more

We had such a wonderful experience at Willard Hicks tonight. The atmosphere was warm, lively, and Every dish we ordered was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. The steaks were cooked perfectly, tender and flavorful, and the sides and desserts were just as impressive. A big thank you to Hector for the excellent service. He was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole evening feel special from start to finish. You can really tell when a restaurant cares about both the food and the experience, and Willard Hicks absolutely delivers on both. The cocktails, wine selection, presentation, and overall attention to detail were outstanding. It felt like the perfect place for a celebration, date night, or just a memorable dinner out. We went to Willard Hicks on Sunday May 12th to celebrate my brother in-law's birthday. We come to this restaurant a lot and we absolutely love the food. There was some issues with our order and they were quickly resolved. We didn't even have to ask. Ben the manager quickly took care of the issue and was very professional about. What an asset he is to this company!! I personally haven't encountered such great customer service skills anywhere else that we have eaten. Ben did more than make up for the issue. That made me want to come back here even more than I already do. Ben is definitely a better manager than the last guy who worked at Willard Hicks. I was dying for steak so my bf pick this place up for me. This is our first time so we don't know what is the best food this restaurant but most of yelped they recommend their cornbread and ponzu steak so we ordered mac&cheese,cornbread, ponzu steak and pork rib. The corn bread when I ate first bite I felt it's really oily or buttery but for some reason I couldn't stop it was telly good but the ponzu steak it's really salty which I don't like it. I would rather order regular steak and mac&cheese just ok. The waiter kept refilling water and checked our table . I like this place service but the ponzu steak is too salty. Really wanted to like this place. We walk by it all the time, my cousin lives in Campbell and whenever we go downtown, its always buzzing. Sadly, the best thing about this place was the location and ambiance (if you like loud places; it was festive though). Appetizers were okay, and steak was okay. I'm not sure this place would be anywhere near the top of my favorite steak places - House of Prime Rib, Gary Denko, Forbes Mill, etc. It seems trendy and full of fluff, not a real serious steak place, but maybe that's not what their going for. Not going back, I've had better and for the price, service was just okay, you can get a much tastier steak elsewhere, so not a fan. read more

My family and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Willard Hicks, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The food was absolutely fresh and delicious, with every dish perfectly prepared and bursting with flavor. However, what truly set our visit apart was the outstanding service provided by one of our bussers, Jose Hernandez. His customer service was the best we've ever experienced. Been hearing about the buzz of Willard Hicks latley. So my wife and I decided to give it a try. Honestly I don't know what all the bad reviews are about, or over spiced food. We had cornbread which was amazing.!!! Los Altos Grill had our favorite cornbread. Not anymore!!!! Awesome JALEPENO HONEY BUTTER!!! Makes the cornbread. My wife wanted to drink it! We did not have the cocktails but looked tasty. We shared the signature ribeye. Juicy, tender, and the best we've had. Our new place is now Willard Hicks!!!!! When my drink was dropped off a bunch of it spilled on the napkin which wasn't replaced. The bar sink was full of dirty dishes which was unsightly. Our cornbread was delicious, but we decided to leave due to the service and issues at the bar. I was looking forward to trying the ravioli special and polenta. Maybe I will DoorDash them in the future.

Another great perk is that if you're playing Trivia, you get happy hour prices all night! Parking is easy, and they have plenty of TVs showing whatever sports are in season, from FIFA and basketball to baseball and football. Maybe there was a mai tai? I can't recall exactly. I may venture back and get a cheeseburger with my friend because the ambience is really nice. I've been wanting to try this place for years. So it's a real shame the food was subpar. I hope they improve their chicken sandwich. It is a really nice place to sit and hang with friends, or on a date even. Our chef had food everywhere. The drinks we thought were better here and they did not water them down, like the other 2 restaurants I mentioned. The decor could use a little updating with lighter colors, lighting, and more ventilation. It's kind of dark inside and dated. Overall, a great experience and a must try.
