Expensively overpriced for what little and I do mean what little you get. Lets start with the entrance. My wife and I decided to try this place as we were walking around in Downtown Campbell.
The restaurant looks nice and we walked inside to look at the menu to see if there was anything on it my wife would like. The hostess started off well, handed us a menu and then walked away to take care of something. We looked at the menu decided to try the place and waited for his return.
He came back checked the computer screen, ignored us as we waited there. He walked away came back again fiddled with something at the counter and walked away again. (Ok, not a big deal. He needed to take care of something.) A waiter came up ignored us standing there and looked at the computer. He then walked away. (Ok, just the waiter not the hostess, they do not seat or greet people, I get it)
The hostess comes back again and ignores us standing right at the counter, waiting. I mean we are an arm length away from him. The menu he gave us has been sitting on his podium ever since he left. He just stands there uncomfortably long, so my wife finally says politely we will try the restaurant.
He then goes to seat us with the ambiance of (Yeah fine come this way, here is your seat, anything else you want.)
We look at the menu again make our selections and order with the waiter. An appetizer of Crab Cakes. A chicken dish and a side Cesar salad for my wife. I order the Sword Fish and the waiter asked me how I would like that cooked. (I was like wow; I have never been asked that when ordering Swordfish. Cool, because it tends to get dry and hard when over cooked.)
So, we are talking and while waiting we over hear the table next to us complaining about how they have been waiting for over an hour for some burgers. (We are like shoot that suck.) Our appetizer comes out and we get two little cakes about the diameter of a small water bottle. Pretty pathetic. The salad comes out and it is what is expected, not bad. we are still waiting for my wife beverage which probably took about 15 minutes to get. (It was soda and we had to remind him to get it.) Our entries came out and I am looking for my sword fish on the plate. (The plate is dressed nice, but where the heck is my fish.) This is one of those restaurants that gouges you for everything. You know the ones that charge you extra for vegetables, sides, etc.
So I am looking on my plate for a Swordfish I can see a decoration of green salad mix and a nice fancy sauce drizzled around the plate, but (If you are a child of the 80's.) Where's the FISH! What I have... is the tiniest piece of fish, I have ever seen. I am not kidding you, The filet of fish in a McDonald's sandwich is bigger then this and that is saying a lot. If I had a fishing license I would have had to throw this catch back for being to small. This piece of fish was maybe the width of two fingers and maybe a tad longer than your middle finger. Pathetically small for something that doesn't even come with sides.
The worst part is what they charge for this stuff. When we got our bill, my wife was like look at this. I get it. We have probably the worst political party in modern history, inflation is through the roof, food prices have doubled, fuel prices have tripled in the bay area, while our taxes keep going up and we the consumer get stuck having to cover all of it.
But $28 for two tiny crab cakes, $36 for an excuse of a tiny piece of fish and that was all, no sides because that is extra. If you are going to rip me off at least don't make it that obvious. Mt wife's dish was expectable, the chicken was over cooked, but I can excuse that. ( I am not that much of a hard as**)
I do not mind paying when I get what I am paying for. This place is not worth your money for what you get. There were to other incidents with other tables and problems with service and food that we over heard while dinning there. That can not be a coincidence. They have issues there.
There are better places that at least provide a PORTION of food for what they charge. If you are on a diet, then maybe this place is for you because they definitely follow the requirements of a portion per the FDA. And the FDA portions are what can fit in the palm of you hand. read more
