I had the Green Curry with soy chicken and brown rice. It was amazing just the right amount of spice and a nice hearty texture on the rice. Wish we had a place like this in Northern Cali. Staff was friendly and good was served quickly. read more

This food is so amazing, I hardly know where to start. My dad and I like to visit restaurants he sees on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives. We find some incredible food spots this way and Wild Thaiger is one of the best! It has a busy lunchtime weekday crowd and we were put at a small high-top for two. They have a nice outdoor patio as well, which is good because the inside is on the smaller side. After we placed our extensive order (everything they tried on the show, plus a couple extras) the server moved us to a bigger table! The employees were good-naturedly laughing at us, but our favorite tradition is eating a ton of great food together. There wasn't one thing that wasn't cooked perfectly. I just had the worst Pad Thai ever. It was like they put the ingredients in box and bagged it up without cooking them together. Chicken was very dry. The peanuts are piled in a corner. It might be better dining in but I would not suggest getting take out. I've been here before but can't say I would return with all the other options available in the same area. read more

We ordered takeout and the food was pretty mediocre. They didn't ask for spice levels at all, which is surprisingly for a Thai place. We got the Pad See Yew, Fat Noodle (aka Pad Kee Mao), the yellow curry, and pineapple fried rice with mango sticky rice for dessert. The noodle dishes actually had way too many vegetables and meat and not enough noodles. We got both chicken and meat for all of our dishes and they were quite dry. The pineapple fried rice had 6 pineapples chunks and was mostly pretty flavorless. The curry was the best option because the meat could marinate in something moist, and there was a slight kick of spice. The mango sticky rice was also disappointing, the mangos were more sour than sweet and tasted rubbery. Also while grabbing the takeout, the cashier almost didn't give us utensils and napkins lol I asked for them and they wanted to give them to me without a big, just a bunch of loose utensils. read more

Tried this spot on our last day in Phoenix. Not in the best part of Phoenix but I'd say this restaurant is worth a try. Definitely vegan-friendly and the service is very good. The food is very good also. And the portions are generous. I would recommend this place. read more

Absolutely a fantastic dinner all the way around. Attentive service, delicious food and generous portions. We shared the dragon eggs appetizer and they were flavorful with a non spicy sauce. My entree was the candied chicken with a wonderful sweet sauce. My wife had the Holy Basil chicken and she raved about the mildly spicy basil sauce with jalapeño. I've been wanting to try this place for a few years now. My buddy and I stopped in for lunch yesterday. The place was buzzing, it attracts the nearby corporate crowd for lunch. The weather is still nice for a patio seating so we grabbed a table. Service was attentive and without issue, just be patient as they take time to get food out. Your wait is so worth the food quality. We got a couple Thai Tea drinks and the Tom Ka Gai soup to start. That soup is spot on, full of flavor and a staple in Thai cuisine. Our main plates were the "Fat One" with chicken and the Ginger chicken. The vegetables, spices and other ingredients tasted so fresh. I'll be getting some take out soon, I wana try more of their food! read more

I first tried this place in 2013. It was my first time branching out beyond pad Thai. I got the Tom ka gai hotpot. That hotpot stayed stuck in my brain over ten years, and countless other Thai spots. I finally went there again this week, and the hot pot is as good as I remember. Better than anywhere else. Ambience 10, specialty cocktails 10, food 10. Don't hesitate to come here. read more

Wild Thaiger 2631 N Central Ave, Phoenix AZ 85004 October 18, 2022 Tuesday - 6 PM for dinner 3 Adults Atmosphere - 4 stars Food - 5 stars Service - 5 stars Background - We love the Food Network show Diners, Drive-In and Dives. Found out our aunt she likes the show too. She never been to one. Tuesday night was the plan to hit one up, and she said lets go to one you have not been to yet. I still have a lot in the PHX to hit up. Atmosphere - Beautiful older building in midtown of Phoenix. This is a small place which has one big dining area inside. They also have an outside dining area that is almost just as big. It was still a little too warm for us to sit outdoors tonight. By the time we left it was perfect. Food Appetizer - Watching Triple D we have been craving the Dragon Eggz for a very long time. These Eggz are pork, shrimp, and crab mixed together to form the a dumpling. Six in an order, they come either steamed or crispy. We had an order of half and half, steamed and crispy, so each person was able to try one of each style. The table agreed the steam is the way to go. Drink - I ordered a Chang but they were out, I had the SingHa instead. Both beers are from Thailand. So I was pleased with that. I try to drink the beer from the area in which the food is from. Beer was $5 which I thought was a good price in a restaurant. If they did not have the SingHa I would have selected Beer Lao Dark a beer from Laos, pretty sure never had a beer from there before. Dinner - I saw the Red BBQ pork and I was sold. It was part of the Mi Dang bowl which also had, yakisoba noodles, seasoned sweet sauce, sprouts, baby bok choy, a hard boiled egg sliced in half and peanuts. I ordered the meal for the pork but the broth was the star of the show. I was wishing the bowl had more broth in, I want to be a little kid and pick up the bowl and slurp it in. I think the pork slices could have been a little smaller, that is really the only ding I had on the meal. Service - We arrived early, did not think it was going to be an issue. The hostess found us in the system and sat us. Our waitress was great. The food came out of the kitchen fast and everything was enjoyed. Future - Of course! A nice, little place to grab a bite. Decor is awesome, I love the stained glass tiger and the fish tank. Parking lot is weird, make sure to park to the east of the restaurant and not south of the restaurant; south is paid parking. Restaurant is in good repair and was kept at a nice, cool temperature. Every surface was clean. We had the pad Thai with beef, the crispy dragon balls, and the candy chicken; everything was okay, could've used more seasoning, the crisp on the candy chicken was amazing though. Very busy to begin with, so we waited a minute or two to be seated. We tried the Dragon eggs cooked half and half crispy and steamed, I must say this was the best appetizer! Chicken satay was good but can do with the peanut sauce on the side & not on top. Papaya salad for my preference, lacked sournesses and spice. Ga prao lunch was good with the fried egg and a generous amount of rice. Now the Tom Ka Gai- for my preference overwhelmingly sweet and not to my standards. Came here for dinner and it was nothing mind-blowing, but it did the job. Place is casual and we sat outside. We got the tofu tower to start, and that was my favorite part of the experience. I love tofu, and I'm picky about how it's done. They made it not too fried, not too bland. Also got the papaya salad, and that was meh. It was pretty mediocre. My entree was the chicken Pad Thai, and it was fine, but it had a weird metallic aftertaste to it. It didn't taste right. My husband agreed. He got whatever chicken dish Guy Fieri got on DDD, and it was delicious, but he was still hungry afterwards. Our friends got the candy chicken and some curry. Overall, it was a three-star experience. Just your average Thai restaurant. read more

A absolutely fantastic Thai joint. First of all the service was through the roof stellar. From the recommendations to just how freaking nice our waitress was. The service alone gives this place 5 stars. Started with the dragon eggz. The best way I could describe them are these giant stuffed shumai, but the best shumai I've ever had. I went with the Mu Yang which I thought was great with this coconut sticky rice, perfectly cooked pork skewers, and a somewhat spicy put really tasty green sauce that added a kick. Even though they hook you up with green sauce I would highly recommend asking for their red chili sauce. Both of them mixed together was the perfect amount of spice. The papaya salad brought a nice cooling and freshness to the dish. We also got the Mi Dang. Which was probably our favorite thing at the table. It's been a while since I had red bbq pork and holy smokes did this place deliver. The broth, cabbage, everything was superb. read more

Food here is really good I always enjoy that part. Service can be a little slow but that's almost everywhere now. The drinks are really good I recommend the pink lotus and the chicken curry ! I'm a solid lover of Thai food, but not so much Thai spice lol. I'm also a casual watcher of DDD on Food Network so I saw the perfect opportunity to try Wild Thaiger. I was in the Phoenix area for leisure, and while this restaurant did not seem like it was in the nicest area, I did not encounter any issues with parking (in the back of the restaurant), or any safety issues. Once we walked in, we were seated pretty instantly as there was open seating. We opted to share our order and we ordered a papaya salad, the famous dragon eggs, and a seafood curry as we originally wanted Pad See Ew, but they were out of the flat noodles. How can a Thai restaurant be out of flat noodles, I have no idea! Anyway, our appetizers came out first and we got both steamed and crispy dragon eyes to try. I personally like the crispy one more, even though many reviews like the steamed ones. It's unfortunately that there's so little as they were tasty, but it almost was like a glorified shumai too lol. Next came our papaya salad which was really the let down of the meal. The papaya itself was fresh, but the flavor of the fish sauce was really lacking. I get disappointed when papaya salad isn't made well as it's supposed to be a staple for Thai establishments, so I definitely would not order this again. Our seafood curry was tasty, but a bit on the pricey side. Overall, for 2 people, it's not enough food to share as the portions were quite small, so it's best to order two main dishes. I would probably come back; however, I'll stick to the famous Guy Fieri's tested tastings lol. read more

We've been wanting to try this place since the first time we saw it on Diners Drive-ins and Dives. Service was great. And many of the items featured on DDD are highlighted on the menu. The Dragon Eggs are excellent and are one of their signature items. The Satay sampler is also very good. The chicken is not at all dry and the seasoning is delicious. Very reasonable prices and a lot of food. Looking forward to going back and trying many of the other tasty items on the menu. read more

Uber/Lyft would be my recommendation, but there is a paid parking garage down a couple of streets. We didn't need a reservation since we had a small party, but I would recommend if if you're coming with a party of four or more. We sat at the bar and ordered four dishes from different categories, which was a great way to sample the menu; though honestly I think we probably could have gotten away with just 3 dishes for a party of 2. We tried Yam Mamuang Boran (old-style green mango salad), Boo Pad Pong Garee (crab curry with ginger), Tom Yum Haeng Sen Yai (dry tom yum with wide noodles), and Naem Khao Tot (crispy rice salad with fermented pork sausage). The noodles and salad were definitely my favorite though everything was seasoned really well and incredibly flavorful. What I loved most was how thoughtfully prepared everything felt. The restaurant has a really sincere, home-style feel, and you can tell the food is rooted in tradition while still feeling special and elevated. The hibiscus one was soooooo intensely sour that it was almost inedible. It was very bright though. The lemongrass one reminded me too much of a savory lemongrass soup that I couldn't enjoy it. Some of the spiel and verbiage that the team had was a little pretentious and awkward. I saw them "kindly" kicking out a table for sitting past their reservation time. I've never ever seen a restaurant do that before. Really not that bad but really not worth the $20-$40 price tags either. I'm open to coming back and trying other dishes. I really think I may have came on a bad night.

Some Thai places season their chicken, some do not and unfortunately Pad Thai Cafe missed that mark. My partner ordered the short rib curry dish and my goodness, it smelled like heaven and tasted just as good. I don't eat beef but had to taste it and it was divine! A friend saw this restaurant on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives and told me to try it out. We went tonight as it is 3 blocks for our condo. 530 dinner and the restaurant was empty. Cute patio but too hot and they weren't seating outdoors. Plenty of parking in the back. Interior is a little dark but nicely done with a small made up bar if you need to come alone. Guy Fieri recommends the Dragon Eggz : (dumplings) and we got one order split half fried and half steamed. The sauce is phenomenal. Loved the skillet plating and extra jalapeños. I am a sucker for Papaya Salad if done properly: The flavor was on point and they didn't put ground peanuts on theirs which is a plus for me. Definitely forgot to ask for Thai hot as there was no heat at all. Maybe they underestimated me cause my hubby is white. Beef panang curry: very tender beef like other reviews state. Flavor of the curry was very different than the norm. Much lighter in texture too and didn't have vegetables. Pad Thai with chicken: hubby said it was decent but nothing to write home about. I very much dislike coconut but how could I not try the famous coconut ice cream? We ordered the fried banana with coconut ice cream and they battered the banana in shaved coconut too. More for hubby! The ice cream flavor and texture was good. Server was excellent and I loved her accent. The entire restaurant was full by the time we left and people were waiting outside. My wife and I went to have dinner here for the first time. We arrived around 6:15. We were told there would be a 20 minute wait. As we waited we noticed several tables open. I asked about this and I was told they were preparing tables for a large group and once they were done they would assess the seating availability. The open seats were booths and a small table for 2 on the patio. A large group would not use any of these open tables. We Waite some more and when I went to see how much longer it would be I was told about 10 minutes. I reminded the hostess of the original 20 minute wait she originally stated that we were already beyond, and once again pointed out the several booths and tables that were open. She then tells me they only have 3 servers and that is why they're not seating all tables. If the hostess had been honest with me from the beginning I could have made the decision to wait or not. Instead my time was wasted. I could see the owner busy cooking in the kitchen. I would suggest she spend a little more time on the front. We wound up leaving and ate at a very nice place called Sushi Station. It wasn't Thai, but it's a very nice place, and the Sushi is really good. You should check it out. As for Wild Thai, I may give it a second chance, but the first impression has been made. I usually have my Thai fix at a wonderful little place called Sala Thai. Great food, friendly owners and staff. The complete opposite from what I experienced at Wild Thaiger. read more

We ordered the Tom Yum soup, beef curry, and fat one noodles. The beef curry had a unique nutty flavor that I enjoyed. The fat one noodles were similar to drunken noodles and were cooked to perfection. The Tom Yum soup was good but not the best I have had in town. Overall, I would give the food a 4/5 rating. The service at Wild Thaiger was great. Our server was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. I would rate the service at 4.5/5. In terms of price, I found Wild Thaiger to be fairly priced for the quality of food and service. I would rate the price at 4/5. In summary, I would definitely come back to Wild Thaiger. The food was good, as expected, but the service was unacceptable. My son has a severe seafood allergy, which we clearly communicated multiple times to the server. Despite this, his dish arrived with a bowl of fish sauce placed directly against the rice. When I pointed this out, the server simply removed the bowl and said it "should be okay," showing a complete lack of understanding of food allergies and cross-contamination. This is not a minor oversight--it is a serious health and safety issue. The response was careless and disappointing, and it completely overshadowed the quality of the food. read more

Excellent Thai food! Consider sitting out on the patio; there are nice tables and heaters for the winter. I am usually pretty bored with the spring rolls I order at other restaurants, but these were really good. They offer some unusual menu choices as well such as corn fritters. It's basically deep fried corn which sounds awful but tastes heavenly. They are good about suiting the spice level to your preferences. The staff is friendly and can offer good suggestions. Delicious! We walked in Friday night at 5:45 and there were only a few people dining but within 20-30 minutes it started filling up. Better to be lucky than good with the timing. Started with the DDD recommended Dragon Eggs and they did not disappoint. We ordered Chicken Pad Thai & the Mi Dang. Large portions, flavorful and filling. Since we live in California, we won't be regular customers but we will likely come back whenever we are here in Scottsdale. Try it, you will like it. read more

My office is right around the corner and I just happened to try this place about 4 years ago and i can't stop coming back at least once a month. The flavors are unique to any Thai food I have had and the dishes are very creative. Unfortunately because I am not the only one who knows how great this place is it does take awhile to be served sometimes but this is such a minor inconvenience it is hardy worth mentioning. I am from out of town, but there was something about this restaurant that caught my eye, and somehow conveyed that this was going to be a good restaurant. I am very picky about my food, and the food here was very fresh - did not have the usual cloying after-effect that I have felt at other Thai restaurants. Probably the best yellow curry and pad Thai anywhere in the Phoenix area. The coconut ice cream was a nice, lite treat, too. Very friendly staff. When I went in, they seemed to know the regulars - which were quite a few. One downside, seemed a little pricier than most other Thai restaurants, but worth it. Definitely going back. read more

I've been there several times and have always received nice meals and friendly service. Recently, I've noticed that the food has been subpar--I've seen them reheating it in microwaves--and the personnel has been hurried and hostile. They hurry you in and out like livestock. Have been coming here for a few years and it is always a treat. The appetizer menu is fantastic and I highly recommend the Thai boar, but it is spiced pretty hot so beware if you struggle with peppers hotter than jalapeño.
