I just had the worst Pad Thai ever. It was like they put the ingredients in box and bagged it up without cooking them together. Chicken was very dry. The peanuts are piled in a corner. This food is so amazing, I hardly know where to start. My dad and I like to visit restaurants he sees on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives. We find some incredible food spots this way and Wild Thaiger is one of the best! It has a busy lunchtime weekday crowd and we were put at a small high-top for two. They have a nice outdoor patio as well, which is good because the inside is on the smaller side. After we placed our extensive order (everything they tried on the show, plus a couple extras) the server moved us to a bigger table! The employees were good-naturedly laughing at us, but our favorite tradition is eating a ton of great food together. There wasn't one thing that wasn't cooked perfectly. We ordered takeout and the food was pretty mediocre. They didn't ask for spice levels at all, which is surprisingly for a Thai place. We got the Pad See Yew, Fat Noodle (aka Pad Kee Mao), the yellow curry, and pineapple fried rice with mango sticky rice for dessert. The noodle dishes actually had way too many vegetables and meat and not enough noodles. We got both chicken and meat for all of our dishes and they were quite dry. The pineapple fried rice had 6 pineapples chunks and was mostly pretty flavorless. The curry was the best option because the meat could marinate in something moist, and there was a slight kick of spice. The mango sticky rice was also disappointing, the mangos were more sour than sweet and tasted rubbery. Also while grabbing the takeout, the cashier almost didn't give us utensils and napkins lol I asked for them and they wanted to give them to me without a big, just a bunch of loose utensils. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for a few years now. My buddy and I stopped in for lunch yesterday. The place was buzzing, it attracts the nearby corporate crowd for lunch. The weather is still nice for a patio seating so we grabbed a table. Service was attentive and without issue, just be patient as they take time to get food out. Your wait is so worth the food quality. We got a couple Thai Tea drinks and the Tom Ka Gai soup to start. That soup is spot on, full of flavor and a staple in Thai cuisine. Our main plates were the "Fat One" with chicken and the Ginger chicken. The vegetables, spices and other ingredients tasted so fresh. Found out our aunt she likes the show too. She never been to one. Tuesday night was the plan to hit one up, and she said lets go to one you have not been to yet. I still have a lot in the PHX to hit up. Atmosphere - Beautiful older building in midtown of Phoenix. This is a small place which has one big dining area inside. They also have an outside dining area that is almost just as big. It was still a little too warm for us to sit outdoors tonight. By the time we left it was perfect. Food Appetizer - Watching Triple D we have been craving the Dragon Eggz for a very long time. These Eggz are pork, shrimp, and crab mixed together to form the a dumpling. Six in an order, they come either steamed or crispy. We had an order of half and half, steamed and crispy, so each person was able to try one of each style. The table agreed the steam is the way to go. Drink - I ordered a Chang but they were out, I had the SingHa instead. Both beers are from Thailand. So I was pleased with that. I try to drink the beer from the area in which the food is from. Beer was $5 which I thought was a good price in a restaurant. If they did not have the SingHa I would have selected Beer Lao Dark a beer from Laos, pretty sure never had a beer from there before. Dinner - I saw the Red BBQ pork and I was sold. It was part of the Mi Dang bowl which also had, yakisoba noodles, seasoned sweet sauce, sprouts, baby bok choy, a hard boiled egg sliced in half and peanuts. I ordered the meal for the pork but the broth was the star of the show. I was wishing the bowl had more broth in, I want to be a little kid and pick up the bowl and slurp it in. I think the pork slices could have been a little smaller, that is really the only ding I had on the meal. Service - We arrived early, did not think it was going to be an issue. The hostess found us in the system and sat us. Our waitress was great. The food came out of the kitchen fast and everything was enjoyed. Future - Of course! Parking lot is weird, make sure to park to the east of the restaurant and not south of the restaurant; south is paid parking. Restaurant is in good repair and was kept at a nice, cool temperature. Every surface was clean. We had the pad Thai with beef, the crispy dragon balls, and the candy chicken; everything was okay, could've used more seasoning, the crisp on the candy chicken was amazing though. My entree was the chicken Pad Thai, and it was fine, but it had a weird metallic aftertaste to it. It didn't taste right. My husband agreed. He got whatever chicken dish Guy Fieri got on DDD, and it was delicious, but he was still hungry afterwards. Our friends got the candy chicken and some curry. Overall, it was a three-star experience. A absolutely fantastic Thai joint. First of all the service was through the roof stellar. From the recommendations to just how freaking nice our waitress was. The service alone gives this place 5 stars. Started with the dragon eggz. The best way I could describe them are these giant stuffed shumai, but the best shumai I've ever had. I went with the Mu Yang which I thought was great with this coconut sticky rice, perfectly cooked pork skewers, and a somewhat spicy put really tasty green sauce that added a kick. Even though they hook you up with green sauce I would highly recommend asking for their red chili sauce. Both of them mixed together was the perfect amount of spice. The papaya salad brought a nice cooling and freshness to the dish. We also got the Mi Dang. Which was probably our favorite thing at the table. I'm a solid lover of Thai food, but not so much Thai spice lol. I'm also a casual watcher of DDD on Food Network so I saw the perfect opportunity to try Wild Thaiger. I was in the Phoenix area for leisure, and while this restaurant did not seem like it was in the nicest area, I did not encounter any issues with parking (in the back of the restaurant), or any safety issues. Once we walked in, we were seated pretty instantly as there was open seating. We opted to share our order and we ordered a papaya salad, the famous dragon eggs, and a seafood curry as we originally wanted Pad See Ew, but they were out of the flat noodles. How can a Thai restaurant be out of flat noodles, I have no idea! Anyway, our appetizers came out first and we got both steamed and crispy dragon eyes to try. I personally like the crispy one more, even though many reviews like the steamed ones. It's unfortunately that there's so little as they were tasty, but it almost was like a glorified shumai too lol. Next came our papaya salad which was really the let down of the meal. The papaya itself was fresh, but the flavor of the fish sauce was really lacking. I get disappointed when papaya salad isn't made well as it's supposed to be a staple for Thai establishments, so I definitely would not order this again. Our seafood curry was tasty, but a bit on the pricey side. Overall, for 2 people, it's not enough food to share as the portions were quite small, so it's best to order two main dishes. I would probably come back; however, I'll stick to the famous Guy Fieri's tested tastings lol. read more

We had deep fried and steamed which are dumplings filled with pork, shrimp and crab meat in a tangy sauce with thinly sliced jalapeños wheels. The volcano wrap is explosive. This used to be a favorite place for my husband and I about 10 years ago. We found ourselves in the area recently and were excited to have lunch there again. Wow, what a difference in service and food now! We ordered the dragon eggs (steamed), and a noodle dish that had a chili pepper next to it (indicating spicy), and I even asked to make it extra spicy because I've been craving some good Thai chili lately. The food was so very bland. Once we got the food, the server never came back to ask how it was, so I helped myself to some chili paste I saw at the server's station, and it helped a bit. We had ordered a drink and the waitress came by with it when we were finished with our food and we were ready to go so we just asked her to take it off the bill. There was only 1 other table at the time and a man at the bar getting takeout, by the way. Even the presentation of the food has dropped a lot....it used to be a little more artsy looking and this time it looked like it was just thrown on the plate. We were planning a trip to Arizona DJ decided to make a list of places we wanted to eat at with Wild Thaiger being one of them. Let me tell you, the food did not disappoint. I had the Candy Chicken and my husband had the Mi Yang. After trying each other's dishes, we were pleased by the variety of flavors in each dish. The service was great with the servers tag-teaming all the tables to make sure every guest was taken care of. Some from the kitchen even served plates if the servers were busy.
