I'm sorry to report a concerning review for the much anticipated Wild Rose Thai Restaurant in Bend. We were visiting from Portland and were so excited to try this place with so many positive reviews and we love Thai food. Unfortunately my daughter got VIOLENTLY ILL within a few hours after eating the Hot Basil Pork. There were four in our party and we shared the dishes family style. My daughter ate the egg on top of her dish, so this is what we believe the food poisoning culprit was since no one got sick and we did not eat the egg. I did report this situation to the Deschutes County Health Department. Our dinners were served within a few minutes of ordering and all were warm. I would like to report my Margarita was amazing made with fresh squeezed juice. If you decide to eat at this establishment, please be careful and ensure your food is the right temperature and report if you get sick from the food. read more

Let me start by saying this is by far one of my favorite Thai places EVER. Their Khao Soi.. to DIE FOR. These chicken wings, I could eat them all day. That Thai tea and limeade... amazing. I've been here a couple times and each time I have made a reservation (which I highly recommend). Service and food are great. Price is about $20 a dish but big enough to share. Ambiance is casual. It gets pretty crowded so if you're coming for a date, be prepared to shout or sit side by side. I wish I lived in Bend so that I could come here all the time! read more

Such an amazing place to stop for lunch. It's cozy and filled with an old Asian world flair (I can only imagine, lol). The servers are nice and friendly. Even caught on when we didn't know how to eat the papaya salad. Khao Soi Curry was absolutely out of this world. It was so flavorful, rich and creamy. The Kow Gai Todd was very refreshing. So different from the typical Thai restaurant. No pad thai/green curry here. The flavors are unique and it will take you a while to look through the menu, but that's part of the fun. Everything we ordered was A+ and we almost went twice on the same 3-day trip. Note that the spiciness varies a lot between dishes. A 3 out of 5 spiciness on the crispy rice dish was just right for us, while the same rating on the Khao Soi curry was VERY SPICY! read more

This is a highly recommended spot when visiting Bend, and I can see why!! I stumbled upon it while yelping for restaurants and immediately knew it was a spot I wanted to try after seeing photos. Asked a couple of locals afterwards and my interest was definitely validated. Also, when googling must-try spots in Bend, this came up! So my friend and I immediately made a reservation. Honestly the menu was confusing for me so I have no idea what these items were called. I just know that when we tried ordering the spare pork ribs, we had mistook it as the one with stew on the menu. So just fyi! Thankfully the waiter clarified that for us. The spare ribs were really good and perfectly crisped. I'd say the coconut soup was sweeter than I'm used to. But still good. My friend really enjoyed it. It was his first time. Food in Bend is generally on the pricier side than what I'm used to seeing in OC. But Wild Rose has good portions and the quality is well worth it! Stayed in Bend for a night and saw that this place was one of the most popular restaurants, so naturally had to give it a try! This place is different from other Thai restaurants, and you probably won't find most of the classics that you order at others like pad thai, drunken noodles, or chicken satay. This, however, lets you try new things and we were blown away! - KHANA FAI DANG (broccolini) - this was my favorite, as the stems were crunchy and it was sautéed in a delicious sauce! - YUM KHAO TOD (fried rice croquettes) - this was a unique dish, and although enjoyable, it was a bit too crunchy and sour for my taste. - KHAO SOI CURRY - this was exactly as expected, with some lovely yellow curry and noodles, VERY filling! We also got a lychee drink, that was similar to a mojito (Pressed for Thai'm). This was also super refreshing. Overall, this is a great spot to drop by if you're in Bend. What's up: We finally made it to Bend and were looking to fill our tummies with something yummies. We made a quick stop to Deschutes Brewery Public House but we're not willing to wait in the hour and a half line (we were getting hangry!), so we did a nearby search and ended up coming to this place. Parking: We parked in the nearby parking structure: Centennial Parking Plaza. It charges $1/hour with a maximum of $10. They had free EV chargers on the roof of the structure. Environment: Masks are required in the restaurant. We checked in at the front door and had a short wait before entering. Inside, you'll see tons of hanging roses on the roof as decor. They had dividers placed in between tables to encourage social distancing. We came in just in time for their lunch special menu (Monday through Friday from 11 am to 2 pm). What was ordered: - Khao Soi Curry with Chicken and number 2 spice level (the curry was yummy with the noodles. Chicken was a bit dry. Spice level 2 was not too spicy) - Moo Gratiem (the pork was a bit too salty for me but the flavor was really good) Yay/Nay/Meh: Yay. This was a neat find. Much like great music where you can experience every note , a good Thai meal is an art and wild rose in my opinion is as good as the work of Mozart . Northern Thai food is an experience for all five senses and I think they deliver all . Christmas eve was a crazy evening where most restaurants were closed and we were having a hard time finding places to eat .Wild rose was one of the only few restaurants that was still open and boy am I glad we found them . It was pretty full when we walked in but they have lots and lots of seating and were able to accommodate our party of four immediately . We had - Khao Soi Curry - One of the best I have had in a long time . Really rich with flavors and thick soupy consistency . The crunch at the top , the noodles everything about this dish was perfect . Gai Tod Nam Pla - Fish sauce marinated chicken wings . Really good size wings and delicious . Five Spice Pork - This was the only unfamiliar thing we ordered (server`s recommendation) and it was as good as he said. Very simple in essence but the umami of the spices and the broth was just on another level . I heard Wild Rose was the business in terms of food to try in Bend. Since we had one meal to eat before the wedding we had to go to, this had to be the one meal we had to try. Northern Thai food is a lot more different than the typical Thai food, as is evidenced by the menu and the various different dishes here that that you wouldn't see too much of at your typical Thai restaurant. Since I didn't want to go SUPER adventurous, I decided to go with the khao soi curry with beef and share the grandfather's tom kha soup with my girlfriend. The khao soi curry was good, noodles came out very crispy and the curry was quite flavorful. Tom kha soup was not in my usual flavor profile as it was very heavy on the coconut milk and lemongrass, but it was very well made. Staff here are friendly, and really do their best to keep things moving. We came here on a Saturday at 2 pm, which is probably an off-time for most restaurants. Not here, it was packed to the brim with people. You'll probably have flag someone down to get things moving, as they are very busy at all times. I can't imagine how long the line for here gets during peak hours. Overall, I think Wild Rose is pretty good and can see how it would gain an outsized reputation in a place as small as Bend. Nowhere close to the best Thai restaurant I've been to, as that designation is never moving off of Lotus of Siam in Las Vegas. But it was certainly worth trying. read more

The service was very quick and kind. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and were sat right away. The atmosphere was amazing! It was comfortable and cute. We ordered Thai iced tea, which the taste was not what I expected, I'm not a huge coffee, tea fan, but it tasted like ice cream! It is a must if you go to Wild Rose Thai. Our food tasted so good! Honestly I'm considering relocating my home to walking distance of this place. And I'm from San Francisco. If I could have ordered everything on this menu, I would have. My husband, daughter and I just left Wild Rose about 20 minutes ago. We sat in the corner table by the window that leads to the restrooms. While reflecting on our delicious meal, unfortunately, the last 5 minutes left a bad taste in our mouth. When we first got seated, we received both a lunch special menu and a dinner menu. At first we were confused on whether or not we could order from the dinner menu as it said "dinner" and the waiter said yes we could. Great news. When it came time to order, because we did order some items off the dinner menu like the Nam Prik Ong and Street noodles, we also ordered the Khaoi Soi and Moo Gratiem. No one informed us that because I pointed the last two items on the "dinner menu", that the portion sizes are different than the lunch (also the lunch menu doesn't call out a difference in portion size) and most surprisedly, we were charged the dinner prices for the Khao Soi and Moo Gratiem. When I asked our waiter when the bill came why we were charged 2x $18 v 2x $12 he said because I pointed the two items off the dinner menu and the portions are bigger ‍. Again, no one told or gave a courtesy heads up that there would be a difference in price when ordering something that is also listed on the lunch menu. We were handed both menus and assumed we'd have liberty to order items off the dinner menu that wasn't on the lunch menu but items that were already on the lunch menu we would be paying for those prices. We didn't make a scene or raise any fuss and we paid the full amount charged. Because up to that point he was a good waiter and the food was amazing. But we did feel misguided. read more

A friend recommended I get takeout here as they ordered from here for their wedding reception and I can see how their menu is elevated plenty for special occasions and yet approachable and navigable even as you're battling spotty reception on the way back from from the Todd Lake area. Our Tom yum soup is a little bit too sour for my taste and I usually put more lime into my Tom yum soup. I walked in with no reservation at 5.45 and they told me if I want a table I have to wait until 7.30 but if I wanted to seat at the bar, the wait would be 30 minutes, and I chose the bar. Ordered both our entrees as a spice level "4" which we've both had here before. One had no spice, the other was way way too spicy.. The worst part? No one checked in on our meal the entire night. To go ordering here is really wonky and not well set up. Website makes you put in a time but the food is prepared well before then. Website makes you accept their tracking cookies. Got my food early which is why I did 2 stars, but the flavors and amount of seafood was not it. Two clams, 2 shrimp, 2 squid, 2 scallops, and maybe 4 super chewy underwhelming octopus in the seafood bowl. Also got the beef skewers, very tough 3 pieces of meat and the sauce smelled absolutely abhorrent, but at least they threw in 1/4 of an iceberg lettuce head for some reason. What upset me most is the front desk service guy. Super attitudey when asked a simple request about getting an itemized receipt as necessary for work.
