Wild One is a lovely spot to get a Mexican fusion meal in the downtown area of Pleasanton. We were seated immediately. The staff was friendly, but not wildly communicative or clear. The dining area inside seems pretty tight, but we enjoyed a comfortable table outside. It was very pleasant. The food was delicious. While I was not a fan of the queso, it was not my order. My camarones were OUTSTANDING. The wine selection was limited but well curated, even if that was accidental. I would definitely come again. read more

It was my first visit. I chose it for the high ratings on Yelp. $18 for a steak burrito. I get it inflation. However, where's the beef?!! I took a photo of the burrito and if you look there's no beef, sad . I don't mind paying the inflated price, but don't rob me. There minimal beef in the first half of the burrito and none in the second half as the picture clearly shows. Shame on you Wild One, this is truly "Widly Absurd". If I hadn't taken it to go and driven 10 miles. I would have definitely returned it. The service was great, but not good enough to pay $18 for a rice and bean UPDATE: I did mention in the initial review the service was great. I stand by that. I telephoned Wild One after posting the review and Bruno answered. He serviced me when I visited and remembered me. He took a look at the review and pictures. He apologized for the mishap, promised to speak with the chef, and issued a refund. I really appreciate him making the incident right. I will try them again. I just had dinner at Wild One. While it is classified as a Mexican restaurant, to be clear it is so much more. The chefs give a truly international take on the familiar dishes I was raised on. Blackened salmon with veggies and lemon sauce. I have been eating, grilling and serving salmon for about 60 years, his take on the 'Blackened Salmon with veggies' was probably the best salmon dish I have ever enjoyed. This is one of our top go-to restaurants in the tri-valley. The food is a delicious modern take on Mexican cuisine. It's clear that the chefs are very thoughtful and deliberate in their food pairings and the quality and uniqueness of preparation. Among our favorites are the mango habanero steak, papa's bravas (delicately crispy on the outside and creamy inside), carnitas, and fish dishes. This petite restaurant located in downtown Pleasanton on Main Street is a hidden gem. The food is outstanding, the service is excellent, and the cost is reasonable. Chef Leo is the owner, and a great guy, if you have a chance to speak with him. My favorite are their burritos. They are DELICIOUS! The only complaint is their burrito's are too large, so I'll often have to take part of it home for lunch the next day. But you heat them up in your microwave the next day, and they are just as good. Although there are a lot of good restaurants in Pleasanton, if you're looking for a nice place to have a casual lunch or dinner, remember the Wild One on Main Street next to PEET's Coffee, they're terrific! Hmm, Where do I start !! The restaurant is a very cozy and small, in Pleasanton historic town. There were around 4 or 5 tables. Service: very attentive , concentrate. When we were waiting for the table outside they turned the heating on. Very pleasant staff. Food: We ordered Papas Bravas - freshly fried potatoes with spice and cojita cheese . My friend and I went to the Wild One at the recommendation of an acquaintance. It was a good suggestion. The service was good. The waitress was polite and attentive. We sat outside as it was a warm evening and inside was too hot. There are 6-8 tables outside for dining. The chairs are comfortable. The tables are spaced far enough apart that you don't feel crowded and can have a conversation without having to whisper. The food and drink were delicious. I had the pork and plantain flautas. They were in corn tortilla which and gluten free. You could taste the plantain which added a sweetness to the spice. It was accompanied with rice and beans and a scoop of avocado. We had a veggie soup for the soup of the day- it is one of the BEST things on our visit- creamy and hot with the perfect kick, a Miracle. The people there were nice and polite. The Chile Relleno was very nice- (spoiler-it is a snazzy decked out bellpepper dish). We tried the wild nachos- the decoration was in point. An innovative menu with dishes you have not heard of. We had a prawns dish and carne asada. Every mouthful was perfect! Everything fresh; even the beans! Been to Wild One so many times and it has never failed to disappoint. This last weekend I hosted my birthday here and they went all out to take care of my guests in the very best possible way. Everyone had such a great time and my guests were really surprised how good it was and pleased to experience this hidden Pleasanton gem! We chose to sit outside but it was a very hot day so we later requested to be seated inside. In spite of being short staffed and busy they were somehow able to accommodate us, which was so much appreciated by everyone. All of the dishes we ordered were super. Went there last Saturday night with friends. What a gem!! It's a small restaurant with fantastic food and service to match. Yes, it is a Mexican restaurant but the food is not your typical Mexican fare. It's fresh, original and delicious. We started with the plantains which were thick, somewhat spicy and served with a nice sauce. I had the ahi which was fine with a crusted polenta, sweet potatoes and veggies. I honestly could have licked the plate! Hubby had one of the shrimp dishes and loved it. One of our friends had enchiladas done in a beautiful mole sauce. Drinks were also very good. Several of us had sangrias. For dessert, we had flan which was beautifully served and delicious. They were not crowded at all so if you are looking for a great place in the Pleasanton area, please check them out! I can't wait to go back when it gets warmer and eat outside. read more

Small place, nice friendly service and good clean food. By clean, I mean the flavors are very nice and not too busy. I started with guacamole and pico with chips. Both were very good and at first I didn't think there were enough chips, but I was wrong, there was plenty. I finished the sides before I finished the chips lol. I then orders the carnitas. They came with black beans, rice and a couple flour tortillas. The carnitas laid in a bed of adobo sauce and topped with avocado sauce, which was a very nice twist on it. The sweet avocado sauce mixed well with the spicy adobo sauce and it wasn't too much heat, but a nice after tone once the sweetness went away. The place had a mix of patrons from young adults, young families to old timers who you could tell by the interaction, all were regulars. The service was perfect. Didn't bug, got drinks right away, appetizers next and finally the main. He also checked back afterwards to see if everything was alright. Perfect. When we moved away from Pleasanton, one of the things we missed the most was Wild One. The food is so delicious that my wife and I order the same thing every time - Avocado Lime Chicken, Pork & Plantain Flautas and of course their Prickly Pear Sangria. Their sauces are also amazing and thankfully you can buy them too! The service has always been friendly and when you sit outside when the weather is nice, it' a wonderful place to people watch as well. Inside is cozy too and is great when the weather is not awesome. Whenever we visit Pleasanton, we make it a point to enjoy a meal at Wild One. I wish they opened another location in Brentwood / Discovery Bay. read more

Stopped by Sunday afternoon for lunch. There is a QR code by the door for touchlees menu but they also had a menu by the cash register. The guy who took my order was very friendly and offered me water while I waited for my take out order. I had a pleasanton downtown gift card but he was unable to get it to work. He said he will ask them how to run it for next time. That was fine with me since I only had a little on there anyways. My crispy fish burrito came out within 7 mins. When I got home I saw there was also chips and Pico de Gallo in the box. The Pico was good, chips were pretty good but not the best I've had at a Mexican restaurant. Wild one is usually our go to place to eat with our kids. We eat in restaurant and order out and have never had a problem until tonight. I do not recommend ordering delivery from them! Our burrito was missing and the steak fajitas that cost $22 had only 5 pieces of meat. When I called back to resolve the issue they were not friendly and very unhelpful. It seems like they have new people working there that do not value costumer service. Food is usually great but just be careful when ordering delivery. read more

This is my third visit here, but first during the pandemic. I am with 3 other foodie diners. We had ..... Burrito with steak - he loved it and scarfed it. The brown rice in the burrito was moist, tender and cheese melted perfectly. But the most amazing was the adobo aioli. It was delivered when he asked for hot sauce. It was hot with a slight tropical fruity profile. Main plate carne asada- average. Chicken enchilada- mole sauce was very good. The sauce layered with yummy stuff. The Oaxcan chef's roots brings his regional hometown style of mole - not to be missed. I wish I could get chicken strips with mole to dip. Camarones plate- flavors also well put together. The brown rice went well with the light sauce and sauté veggies. Service excellent. I did call ahead for a table. They only have a few outside. read more

We came here for a casual family lunch and it did not disappoint. We came after the lunch rush and we sat inside because it was so hot outside. My daughter had a pineapple agua Fresca which blew her mind. Fresh bits pineapple decorated the top. She ordered the taquitos which she really enjoyed which came with rice and beans. I had the pistachio crusted ahi with steamed veggies and plantains (I think!) with a lightly spicy cream sauce. This is the dish to get if you like seafood! We found this place on Yelp and were eager to try as we hadn't eaten all day. Our party of two ordered chips and salsa (doesn't come with meal), posole soup, and two burritos. They have a spicy lemon, mango sauce that served with chips (as well as pico). Interesting flavor, would not serve it with chips, but good nonetheless. The fried fish burritos were good, mostly shredded lettuce with some black beans and chopped fried fish, as well as some sauce and a little guacamole. Average flavor, not spicy, not an abundance of flavors. The posole was good, much like a traditional pork posole. The server was friendly, attentive, pro-active and thoughtful. 1 star is for her. Another star for cleanliness and another for interesting spicy lemon sauce. Probably would not go back, and will try another place next time we are in town. read more

I came here with my family for our traditional "after church" brunch. We came here on a whim with few expectations. Food was very good and presentation was superb. Pricing was what you'd expect in downtown Pleasanton, maybe just a tad lower even. Portions were about right. Food is best described as what I might expect in an American resort in Mexico, American/Latino fusion but in a good way. Not a mix/mash of odd flavors but actually thought out and very well executed. Ok my daughter ordered the teriyaki chicken bowl (my wife tried to take her out of it) but it came out very nice. I had the ribs (not very Latin but it did have chipotle BBQ sauce) and the Mrs had carne asada. Service was friendly, food came out quickly. 4.5/5! my friend chose this spot on main st in pleasanton downtown and i didn't have the highest expectations cause most of the restaurants there are pretty subpar. but i was really surprised by how much i loved the food here! i ordered a white peach sangria which was yum and my main was the chicken and shrimp enchiladas. the sauce that came with the enchiladas was what really made this dish excellent. it's a similar sauce i believe in their other dishes and it really elevated their foods' flavor so much. we made a reservation and we're able to sit inside, a cute spot. the service was also good, no complaints! read more
