Im NACHO man when it comes to eating Mexican food being a picky eater. I love nachos but there's a lot of great Mexican restraints and trucks that just dont even hit the bar. after trying this place a few times this might just be my new favorite go to especially because they do Nachos the right way here. What I really love about this place is that they have a salsa bar with pickled radish and cucumbers that im a huge fan of. The green salsa is my favorite as it's garlic, refreshing, and full of flavor. Cucumbers and radish are fresh and crunchy that cuts the fatty taste of the Mexican food. Their quesadillas here are on something as the cheese pull with these is insane. I like how they have a stand where you can order from inside along with the option to dine in where they bring your food out to you. my only fear is that ill visit this place so much that ill be recognized by the staff. read more

A quaint little location in the shopping center catty-corner across from the fairgrounds. We got here in the early afternoon on a Wednesday and saw that they have a Happy Hour special of 3 Tacos for $6 weekdays between 3-6PM. Wow. What a deal! However, we were about 75 minutes too early and too hungry to wait. (Which reminds me, I have a reason to go back!) Anyway, the menu looked great and I chose a taco salad. Now, I like a good taco salad, but I have been disappointed by many other places in the past. But this place has a fantastic taco salad! Wow! Everything was right about this salad. First of all, a lot of places fry up a whole stack of tortilla shells in advance and then let them sit and get stale and rancid. The tortilla shell at Taqueria Extra was fresh and perfectly crispy. I truly appreciate the FRESH part. The fillings were abundant and well proportioned. The flavors all blended together exactly right. The chef is brilliant. I loved this taco salad. Excellent weekday happy hour deal for tacos. You can get three different meats; this visit I tried the marinated chicken, al pastor, and carnitas. Each were garnished with diced onions and cilantro. Chips were 75 cents extra and went a long way towards making it a filling meal. The menu has a good selection ranging from breakfast to nachos. Portion sizes, and not much else, unfortunately... I ordered the "Wet Burrito," super, with 1/2 asada and 1/2 shrimp, and half & half red/green salsa. It was the size of a small child. Unfortunately, the pros end there. This meal cost $23.12 after tax, as they added an up-charge for shrimp ($1.50) and "extra" asada ($3.50). When I inquired about the surcharge and what was actually included in the $15.49 base price, the cashier shrugged and said the owner told them not to offer "1/2 portions." Note that I did not order "extra," only half & half. There is no logical reason to simply not charge the customer for 1X "full portion" of the more expensive protein, as other chains like Chipotle and many local taquerias have no problem doing.. On quality, I felt the protein was lacking. The steak wasn't very tender, and the shrimp were small. I also felt the protein-to-filler ratio was off, with far too much of the latter, making the $23 price even worse to swallow (pun intended). Finally, both salsas were a touch too sweet and a bit over-salty. I asked about a spicier option like habanero, and the cashier replied that wasn't possible. Odd, for a Mexican taqueria. All in, perhaps if you order something non-customized and with different proteins, you may fare better than u did, but I can't say I'm running back; and I don't suggest you do, either. read more

Crispy chorizo tacos were my favorite ($4.89 each) followed by the beef cheek soft tacos (cabeza - $3.59 each). Tried this place with a coworker after our shift and it definitely hit the spot. This is the best taqueria spot I have tried in Pleasanton. They open early and close late! This is not the best taqueria I have had in my life but it's good for for the area. I have not seen any taqueria's in the Pleasanton area. With that being said, the service was okay, the cashier took of us and recommended many items The ambiance was really nice but it did not give me that taqueria vibe to it. The food was great. I ordered the shrimp and carne asada tacos and it was super good l, very flavorful. The restaurant offers a complimentary chips and your choice of salsa from their salsa bar. I also ordered a horchata for a beverage and that was really good as well. Overall I give this restaurant a solid 4/5 star review, will definitely be back to try other dishes and also want to go back for the free chips and order myself a horchata again! read more

My first check-in and review for the 2025 year occurred at Taqueria Extra. I've seen this establishment when going next door to Mike's Bike Shop. I was on my way back from grabbing some groceries and saw a guy on the corner of the street waving a sign that Taqueria Extra is open today on New Year's Day. I'm feeling hungry so thought let's give them some business. First impression is that the establishment is clean. Second impression was the great menu. Today I ordered a chicken burrito but I have my eye on a shrimp burrito and fish burrito for future meals. Service was great. Third impression is that they don't skimp on size. The burrito is huge for a regular size burrito. And chips are included too! Their local competitors started charging extra for chips. The burrito was delicious. I've been waiting for this location to open for awhile. I've been watching the restaurant come alive as I live a block away and drive past it every day! I've been to their Martinez location and have enjoyed their happy hour tacos (3 for $6) and their burritos. They have a free salsa bar but they do ration the chips- gotta order an entree to get a small basket. They don't skimp on the meat. delicious! The service was kind. I love seeing a hustle, and only being open for two days, very excited that there were a nice tempo of patrons eating in and taking out. Nice, new and clean! Got a variety of tacos - lengua, cabeza, fish, and birria. Very good. My fave was the birria. Good flavor and plenty of meat. Also, the meats weren't over salted like some places. I like that cause I like to pile on the salsa. The salsa bar has a lot of variety and dips seem quality. Be careful the habanero one is legit spicy! Servers were nice, greeted us cheerfully and were helpful. There is a patio where you can sit outside with shade. So I retried because they have good food. The service was a lot quicker. They actually showed me they had a salsa bar as well. I don't know how I missed it the first time lol. The vibe in there is more on the "I'm hanging at my aunts and uncles house"side of things. The food was amazing. They season everything just right. I can now recommend this place. Location is nestled on the corner directly between a Bagel place and Mikes Bikes. I ended up here on a Saturday afternoon 11/23/24 because of a coupon of $2 off of $15 minimum so I decided to use it. The place looks like it's family owned but there are 3 other locations in the east bay which is good sign I think . Interior is very nice , clean and has everything you need. They even have 4 tables outside which a mini gate so you can consume beers in that area only . Plenty of parking as this is a huge strip mall with gas station , Wells Fargo & SAFEWAY. I took snaps of the menu because it was posted yet so hop they helps. The menu is large variety of normal Mexican items they even have a small menu. Drinks are free refill but there are only have 4 sodas but plenty of beer bottles and a cold Jarritos! Salsa bar is kept clean with free chips and has up to habanero salsa if you desire . You choose the beans for the burritos. Etc I decided to go simple and have the chicken burrito and it was wrapped up very nicely as you can tear it apart as you bite and hold it. It didn't leak any sauce or anything so that's a plus . Each table has its own napkin boxes, the bathroom is super clean and everything is well stocked and kept clean. Service is great , they are bilingual. They recycle and when your done you take your plastic chip basket to this separate bin. ( chips are free, I didn't eat them but I took them to go in a container I requested they even offered a bag ) All in all- a good experience not the best chicken burrito I've had but it was fresh and the chicken was crispy with big chunks -but it's the value with the coupon. I will try other things eventually. The burrito is big could feed to people literally but not massively huge . REMEMBER WEEKDAYS They have Happy Hour with Taco Deals which are advertised everywhere like on the doors. Come during happy hour if you want to save money. read more

Authentic taqueria in Pleasanton! Lots of menu items with much more meat options than other local taquerias. They have dine-in and takeout options. The interior is nice and clean with a good amount of both indoor and outdoor seating. I've tried their quesadillas, tacos, burritos, and sopes. They have not disappointed. They are LOADED with meat and toppings. They don't skimp out on anything. The best part is it's so loaded you'll be able to use your side of chips to catch the extra that's fallen from your tacos. Don't forget the salsa! They only allow you to take 2 salsas per entree which is enough. If you like spicy they've got it! They also have milder salsa for those unable to handle the heat. Their agua frescos are made from concentrate so they're pretty sweet. The horchata is decent enough. The staff is kind and helpful. They also do catering for large orders. The chicken adobado is fantastic! This is chicken that has been marinated. You can get it in tacos, burritos, etc. The carne asada is great! The flavor is awesome! What I would stay away from is their red sauce on enchiladas and wet burritos. It is probably the worst I have ever had. It's sweet and tomatoey. It does not take like red sauce at all. And it's not that there is no kick to it; its the flavor itself. Really surprised considering they do such a great job on everything else! This a stand in line order and take your seat place! I have never felt this uncomfortable in any place I've been at except tonight. If I could left 0 stars I would. Tonight me and my daughter came to pick up our food around 8pm and there was 3 guys in the kitchen and a lady at register. As soon as we walked in the restaurant one of the cooks tap the guy with short hair on the shoulder and started pointing at us then started speaking to him in Spanish. After getting that guys attention he then tap the 3rd guy and started aiming his phone at us talking and laughing again. Me and my daughter felt so uncomfortable and we started asking each other if this is really happening because they were talking and making fun of us directly. For the manager or whoever is reading this. I hope you have cameras in there and check this situation. We were there 12/6 and we may have been the last customers to pick up our food. We got home and we didn't even want to eat our food. I don't know if the guys did something to our food that made us a joke to them but we didn't feel safe eating the food they prepared. Wanted to try a new "taqueria". Decor was colorful and everything looked clean. Ordered chili relleno plate, two carne asada crispy tacos and Super nachos with shredded chicken. Horchata always. The relleno plate was excellent in that the pepper was cooked and the sauce gave it the zing it needs. The rice and beans were very flavorful. Big Plus there. 9/10 The tacos were good. Needed salt or maybe flavor? Doused with spicy salsa helped. 6/10 The nachos were basic. Nothing really stood out as a key ingredient to bring it next level. 5/10 There was plenty of staff to get your food right away. The wait for me was reasonable. The staff didn't seem very happy.
