    Taco salad, $13.49
    Marvin M.

A quaint little location in the shopping center catty-corner across from the fairgrounds. We got here in the early afternoon on a Wednesday and saw that they have a Happy Hour special of 3 Tacos for $6 weekdays between 3-6PM. Wow. What a deal! However, we were about 75 minutes too early and too hungry to wait. (Which reminds me, I have a reason to go back!) Anyway, the menu looked great and I chose a taco salad. Now, I like a good taco salad, but I have been disappointed by many other places in the past. But this place has a fantastic taco salad! Wow! Everything was right about this salad. First of all, a lot of places fry up a whole stack of tortilla shells in advance and then let them sit and get stale and rancid. The tortilla shell at Taqueria Extra was fresh and perfectly crispy. I truly appreciate the FRESH part. The fillings were abundant and well proportioned. The flavors all blended together exactly right. The chef is brilliant. I loved this taco salad. My DW got a taco plate which comes with a side salad and a generous serving of rice and beans. I got a taste of the taco and it was flavorful and excellent also. This is a highly recommend and a definitely return to restaurant.

Excellent weekday happy hour deal for tacos. You can get three different meats; this visit I tried the marinated chicken, al pastor, and carnitas. Each were garnished with diced onions and cilantro. Chips were 75 cents extra and went a long way towards making it a filling meal. The menu has a good selection ranging from breakfast to nachos. Staff was friendly and entertained my questions about what meats they'd recon. I'll definitely be back!

Wet Burrito. Super, half/half red & green salsa, half/half shrimp & asada. Egregious up-charges made this $23.15. Way too pricey.

Portion sizes, and not much else, unfortunately... I ordered the "Wet Burrito," super, with 1/2 asada and 1/2 shrimp, and half & half red/green salsa. It was the size of a small child. Unfortunately, the pros end there. This meal cost $23.12 after tax, as they added an up-charge for shrimp ($1.50) and "extra" asada ($3.50). When I inquired about the surcharge and what was actually included in the $15.49 base price, the cashier shrugged and said the owner told them not to offer "1/2 portions." Note that I did not order "extra," only half & half. There is no logical reason to simply not charge the customer for 1X "full portion" of the more expensive protein, as other chains like Chipotle and many local taquerias have no problem doing.. On quality, I felt the protein was lacking. The steak wasn't very tender, and the shrimp were small. I also felt the protein-to-filler ratio was off, with far too much of the latter, making the $23 price even worse to swallow (pun intended). Finally, both salsas were a touch too sweet and a bit over-salty. I asked about a spicier option like habanero, and the cashier replied that wasn't possible. Odd, for a Mexican taqueria. All in, perhaps if you order something non-customized and with different proteins, you may fare better than u did, but I can't say I'm running back; and I don't suggest you do, either.

I am speaking to the take out service only. The take out was pretty quick right after ordering and they added everything we asked. Now lets get into the food. The super nachos were so good, we asked for asada. As for burritos, i got a big super burrito with cabeza and infortuantely I didnt picture them. Everything was 5/5 and a little gem in pleasanton. Yall better believe this place didnt come to play. Good ambience too!

Decent Mexican fast food at reasonable prices. We had five types of tacos for lunch today, and they were all enjoyable. Crispy chorizo tacos were my favorite ($4.89 each) followed by the beef cheek soft tacos (cabeza - $3.59 each). We also ordered the chicken ($7.49 for two), marinated pork (pastor - $3.59 each) and roasted pork (carnitas - $3.59 each) soft tacos. Total bill was about $35. Will be back to try other menu items.

Quite surprised with the Shrimp Burrito. Delicious. I would prefer less pepper. Chips were stale and they exchanged another bag for me once I walked in and asked. Still stale. I would prefer them not to bag the chips ahead of time. Service was quick for lunch. Ambiance is extremely casual. Simple tales and chairs. Would prefer slightly cleaner floors.

Burritos r mid but I always find smth weird in my guacamole?? Last time I found a big chunk of hardened avocado that I couldn't bite but I let it go bc it's not a big deal but tell me why I found a avocado peel in my super burritos idk it's weird. it's not enjoyable finding that in ur food

Been here before and the tacos were good but the breakfast burrito is rough. We split a bacon burrito. The bacon was raw and there was a larger eggshell in my half. We both took one bite and tossed it. Woof.

Tried this place with a coworker after our shift and it definitely hit the spot. This is the best taqueria spot I have tried in Pleasanton. They open early and close late! This is not the best taqueria I have had in my life but it's good for for the area. I have not seen any taqueria's in the Pleasanton area. With that being said, the service was okay, the cashier took of us and recommended many items The ambiance was really nice but it did not give me that taqueria vibe to it. The food was great. I ordered the shrimp and carne asada tacos and it was super good l, very flavorful. The restaurant offers a complimentary chips and your choice of salsa from their salsa bar. I also ordered a horchata for a beverage and that was really good as well. Overall I give this restaurant a solid 4/5 star review, will definitely be back to try other dishes and also want to go back for the free chips and order myself a horchata again!

Great tacos! Unpretentious location, serving good food. Is still a bit pricey for tacos, but it's Bay Area standard. The lengua and chorizo were the best! Definitely coming back.

My first check-in and review for the 2025 year occurred at Taqueria Extra. I've seen this establishment when going next door to Mike's Bike Shop. I was on my way back from grabbing some groceries and saw a guy on the corner of the street waving a sign that Taqueria Extra is open today on New Year's Day. I'm feeling hungry so thought let's give them some business. First impression is that the establishment is clean. Second impression was the great menu. Today I ordered a chicken burrito but I have my eye on a shrimp burrito and fish burrito for future meals. Service was great. Third impression is that they don't skimp on size. The burrito is huge for a regular size burrito. And chips are included too! Their local competitors started charging extra for chips. The burrito was delicious. I'm definitely coming back again.

I loved the jerk pork tacos! The pork was juicy, tender, and aromatic, and the mango-papaya salsa added a refreshing sweetness. I also tried the paella Oyo that my sister ordered which was sooo yummy and full of protein. The small size was more than enough! My mom ordered the oxtail stew which wasn't on their brunch/lunch menu (dinner only), but I really appreciate that they were accommodating to make that dish for her. I've never had oxtail and it was delicious--tender, perfectly sweet and savory, and paired well with the plantains. The other dishes that my family ordered were hits too (jerk pork shoulder and seafood paella). We also tried the ripe plantains pancake Oscar for a sweet treat. I love anything marshmallow, so the brûléed marshmallow cream that blanketed the pancakes was heavenly. It also came with a plantain on top and a few other fruits to balance out the sweetness. Overall, we left full and all around very satisfied. The staff showed us such warm hospitality and came around often to check on us, despite being an almost packed house. The decor was beautiful and the atmosphere had a fun lively energy. With indoor and outdoor seating options, anywhere you get seated is a nice spot. Can't wait to visit again to try their dinner menu items and drinks, and hopefully catch some live music!

The ambiance is cute with a small closed off glass area of wine and two seater table inside! Our waitress Dominique was amazing. She was able to give great recommendations for wines and food. She also made us feel taken cared of and was friendly/warm. The food is a mix of mexican/euro/american so there were a lot of different options. Here are the things we got: Appetizers - Parm crusted cauliflower: so good, nice and crunchy but not too heavily breaded. The chipotle mayo was delish - Chicharrones: so light and crispy! They were hot out of the fryer. It had a side of a corn cheese dip that was so good and made it more unique of a dish -- must try if you even kind of eat chicharrones. I don't generally like pork skin but I enjoyed it regardless. - Hamachi ceviche: this is a large sharing portion with chunks of hamachi and avocado. Good but not a must have. Entrees - Enchiladas: very cheesy and overall a good dish but I would skip this. - Shrimp tostadas: large size shrimp and it just comes with two tostadas so I don't think it was worth the price - Barramundi fillet: The fish was tender and juicy. I liked the marinades that came with it. I liked this dish with the rice because it made me feel homey. Good portion of fish. - Agua Chile Ribeye: This is a must have! The ribeye is sous vide so it was soo tender and juicy. The broth was really nice to keep everything moist and flavorful. Because we were celebrating a birthday, Dominique made a dessert with a nice special touch. Will definitely be back again!

Now it gets weird. They ALWAYS used to include a mini cup of each of the salsas in my delivery orders. Last four delivery orders, they stopped giving the green jalapeño salsa. So because I love it so much, I specifically order an 8oz tub of it. Guess what they delivered? Not the jalapeño salsa but rather their other green one which is a garlic salsa. Could've reported it and received a DoorDash refund, but i left it alone. The last two deliveries, they also did not include the dorito pinwheels like they always do, so I drive there to get 'em. Even gave them $5 for something free, bc ya know - just helping a business out and the owner guy is nice and was apologetic. Now today, I was in the area, so i stopped in for a taco, agua fresca, a large bag of those pinwheel doritos and an 8oz tub of the jalapeño salsa especially because the salsa bar was empty and the other orange one i like was not made well this time. So watery yuck. The girl taking orders didn't seem like she was well versed in punching orders into their system. Took awhile for her to enter those 4 items I ordered and needed to grab one of the other staff to help her, but whatever - still tipped her 18%. Then, why in the world would they finish up my order then tell me they're completely out of the jalapeño salsa and then ask if I want an 8oz tub of another salsa? So at this point, it seems they're trying to do the same thing as when i ordered this specific salsa for delivery and hope i'll be ok with something else, right? It also looked almost performative when the girl opened the cabinet under the salsa bar looking for more jalapeño salsa before she told me they were completely out. I respond with "that's the only salsa I wanted. I can wait while they make more. can they make more?" she says no. twice. I let her know that I wanted to be refunded for the salsa and bag of dorito pinwheels. All of a sudden they magically found more jalapeño salsa. All of this to say I'm now absolutely convinced the staff is trying to hoard this specific salsa for whatever reason. Like i said, it's delicious, but not a reason to freakin hoard it for yourself when that's a reason your customers come back. I'll also add that the quality of the food these last two times around was no bueno. The amount of lengua and garnish in my taco was just sad. Literally, the taco I ordered today is the same taco I have pictured in my original review, but then opened it up when i got home and looked nothing like it did before. I've recommended this place to my coworkers and now I take it back and it seems the other Yelpers agree that this is no longer the place we loved. Definitely taking a break from this place. To the owner - I think when you're not there, your team is unfortunately letting you down and giving your customers a different food experience then what you provide and are known for.

Last night, I had a chimichanga with alambre, which is a meat option I'd never seen at a taqueria before. It's carne asada mixed with bacon, onions, bell peppers, and melted cheese, so I was intrigued, but I asked if they could make it with pastor instead of carne asada. No problem. Man, it was great, and big enough that I was stuffed to the gills and had plenty leftover for lunch today. Their salsas are outstanding. I especially love the orange one, which I assume is habanero even though it's not eye-wateringly hot. Great taste and respectable heat though. They also have a full bar with decent margaritas. I lived in Texas for almost 30 years and have been in California for 15, so I know good Mexican food, and Two Amigos does NOT disappoint.

What a hidden gem! I've passed this place so many times, I'm glad I stopped. I initially wanted to…read moreeat at the sushi spot next door but they were closed. And you can't go wrong with Mexican food so I decided to just go next door to Don Chepe. I went around 2pm and it wasn't busy at all. The cashier was super nice. I ordered the enchilada plate and a horchata. I initially thought it was kind of pricey at first. But my goodness! Look at the size of the plate! Idk if you can even tell from the picture but it's HUGE. I had enough leftover for dinner that night. Everything was delicious. I can't wait to go back.

Located at the edge of downtown Pleasanton, Taqueria Don Chepe offers delicious Mexican cuisine at…read morereasonable prices. The service is decent. You order at the counter and your food is delivered to your table. They have a self-serve chips and salsa bar. The restaurant is small but they have enough tables to accommodate a few parties. We ordered the crispy taco plate with al pastor, carnitas, and chili verde. All the tacos were delicious! The meat was flavorful. I like the lettuce, guac, sour cream and pico on the plate that you can add to your tacos on your own. The beans were excellent! The rice was dry. We also ordered the menudo. Good flavor but it didn't come with hominy. If you want it, you have to ask for it because it only comes with the posole. Wish I had known that before. Would definitely come back.
