My wife and I moved up to the Bay Area 6-7 years ago and since moving up, Ive looked for Al pastor that was similar to when I lived in San Diego. Most places I have been disappointed but not here.
Not only is it the best Al pastor I've had in the tri valley, I'll say it's the best In the east bay.
Location is on the side of the street near the Chase parking lot. Low key like your taco vendors in LA. So it's a tent with some tables set up for them to make your food. Not brick and mortar with aesthetics like that. No chairs or tables for people who get food. Basically standing room if you eat there or you take it home.
We had an easy time finding parking at Chase(7pm). 6 people in front of us and probably took 15 minutes from getting to the front, ordering, and getting food.
Ordered (1) Al pastor Quesadilla. (1) Al pastor, carne asada, and cabeza tacos. This plus a large horchata came out to $32. Great value and my wife and I were both full.
The Al pastor is cooked on a rotating spit. Flavors for everything was great. They cook food quick. My favorite thing of what we ordered was the Al pastor quesadilla, then cabeza, and last carne asada. The carne asada to be me was a bit more dried out than I would like.
They also have a Self serve cooked onions/jalapeños, raw onions and cilantro, pickled red onions and habaneros, and a salsa bar.
Mom and pop like business. Come and support them, you won't regret it. read more
