The lower star rating is for the service. The food was delicious. We had a reservation for 7:30 on a Friday. We arrived and the host went to walk us to the table. He stops and points at a table in the back, gesturing for me to squeeze between two customers. I choose to walk around a different way and the host is still gesturing for me to squeeze between to chairs when the host himself wouldn't even walk through. It was beyond strange. We sit down and have some time and order our drinks and my friend knows we need to order the rest of our meal at the same time. We order baked oysters and I ordered the special- lamb My friend orders the flounder with risotto because it never disappoints We ordered the cappuccino heath bar ice cream pie and that was incredible! May have been my favorite part of the meal We received the ice cream pie and not even a minute later, a server, who was different than our original server, put the check down. And not even 10 minutes later, he came to check if we had put down a credit card It was not even 10pm yet (mind you, they close at 11pm) I can understand if it was past closing and we were the only ones left but it wasn't even close and there were still other patrons. Imagine you walk into a restaurant that came highly recommended by a local. There are seats outside but they pretend they don't have open tables... you ask if you could start indoors and switch and they give you a song-and-dance about why that would be too hard (although seats at the bar are open, and it would be totally feasible--just a little effort). So whatever--you're flexible--you sit inside despite the nice weather and empty seats. Menu looks cool -- apparently the drinks are a draw. Excited to pick a good choice, you ask the server -- of these 3 drinks, are any particularly good? And then came the attitude from our server: "I don't KNOW you. I don't know what you LIKE. I can't DECIDE for you." Wow! You calmIy explain... "I didn't ask you to DECIDE for me -- I was just wondering, do YOU like any of these?" She shakes her head in disgust while slow-blinking. /// I actually wanted to get up and leave right then and there... but I know my friend wanted some baked oysters so I bit my tongue (and my lip) and stayed put. I wondered if she realized that: (1) You can ASK someone's preferences (even though you don't KNOW them) (2) You can make recommendations from what you've tasted and say why you like certain cocktails (3) If you indeed hate the ENTIRE drink menu, you can reference what flavors are prominent or even what other guests have liked After our appetizers hit the table, we asked about a dish -- and she abruptly replied, "If you try to order food, you'll be waiting a LONG time." Now, the idea behind this is understandable because it was busy. But what you SHOULD have done is that when you see the table only ordered drinks and apps, to say "Heads up, if you guys want to eat a entree, please put that order in now because it will be a long wait otherwise." (And PS... it's not like a store where there's no limit to how many people can come in -- it's a restaurant, with a finite number of tables and seats -- so it's not like infinity customers were there.) We wanted to leave anyway, so it was fine by us. So I'll award a point for the baked oysters, which were tasty. The drinks were not good--and I guess they think a Martini comes in a rocks glass with ice...and no flavor balance at all,... And per the above, the service was like a bad SNL skit--or like we were being "punked." Sometimes when something is so ridiculous, it's almost comical to see it through. Anyway, thanks, AMANDA! You're right, you DON'T know me. And you DON'T know I like to write about my experiences, and that I have a great memory for names. I hope someone retrains you and that you discover your humility. Once you realize you're in the SERVICE business and not begrudgingly doing strangers a favor by barely tolerating them, maybe you can start to act the part and do your job. As opposed to trying to ruin customers' days. And I'm not trying to ruin yours -- I'm hoping you can be retrained or rewired so you can take a bad customer experience and grow from it. read more

Wanted to love this place but wished the food was a little better!! For appetizers we had a tuna tower, calamari and burrata. I found the fish apps to have a little bit of a fishy taste which was upsetting. Buratta was great though!! For dinner we shared the flounder and the pork chops. Both were tasty but nothing knocked it out of the park. Just left wanting a little more flavor. Ambiance is great though- dark lighting and very pretty. I'm local. I had high hopes for the Restaurant. Wild Honey decided to try their prefix $35 appetizer with a main with a glass of wine. I ordered what was supposed to be seafood ceviche, which was probably the worst thing I've ever had in a seafood dish, 80% tomatoes, microscopic bits of some shrimp and maybe something else. Just awful. I can see why the staff never asked if that was to any satisfaction. Now on the other hand, the blackened fish sandwich was excellent, large, much larger than expected. The salad it came with was way overdressed with some type of sweet vinaigrette or something not exciting. By the way, the chips that are served with the ceviche were fine. Perhaps we'll try it again sometime in the future, but not a fan currently. Or maybe just stick to a simple fish sandwich. To the team at wild honey as a local place, you should be doing much better with focus on seafood based on oyster Bay. I've had this place bookmarked for a few years now and finally stopped in to dine. After reviewing the menu and yelp reviews decided to try their grilled double cut pork chop and wow! This dish was delicious! I'm so happy I listened to reviews and ordered it. Everything worked so well with this dish! My husband ordered their bouillabaisse which he said was okay. I hosted a baby shower here a week ago and was beyond pleased with every aspect. Guests raved that the food was inventive, plentiful, and delicious. The servers anticipated my every thought and were ready to kindly help and keep the shower moving at just the right pace. I thought the prices very fair. I most appreciated the restaurant's generous policy of allowing me to bring in my decor and transform the room into a charming and sweet nod to Beatrix Potter. A gem In oyster bay. Been missing wild honey since they closed a location In port. Unfortunately because of distance to this location it's not one of our go to choices when we're going out for dinner. But each time we go we say why don't we go more often. The food and service is that good. As weather gets nicer I'm sure we will be coming more often. We always start with 2 martinis and probably one of our favorite apps anywhere the skillet roasted mussels. While I like mussels the way wild honey prepares them they take them to another level. I've been to this restaurant a number of times and always enjoyed the meal. Not last time: waitress took orders, brought two of the three entrees. Asked about the third. "It's coming in a minute." Incredibly, though I worked 2 blocks away for 7 years and frequently visit OB, I do not recall dining in Wild Honey...and wonder, why not ? For some reason, I always thought that it was another outpost of Wild Fig...I don't know, more recently the menu just didn't seem very exciting.. The menu is not huge but offers a variety of selections. I found it interesting that there is not a burger listed, perhaps because the price point would be lower than seems typical for entrees. This Wild Honey can stay in the wild. I have heard rave reviews from friends about Wild Honey so I went here thinking the food, service, and ambience was going to be amazing and for the food portion it fell flat. This restaurant is nestled in the town of oyster bay and on the more expensive higher end side with a great ambience and outdoor space which is great for a date. The service here is also very good and our server was great and fast! However when it came to the food it was a quality control disaster. I hope it was because the kitchen was understaffed and the food they gave us was not the norm. I was with a decent size group and the mussels were burnt to a crisp literally the shells were charred and crumbling, the shrimp tasted spoiled rotten, and my steak that was supposed to be medium rare was medium well. For the other food that we ordered it was ok, the fish taco was the best thing here. I rarely send a dish back unless it is absolutely disgusting and inedible and that's what we had. If I was the chef I would be embarrassed for how bad the food quality was. I hope the experience i had is not the normal experience of patrons currently and I hope they improve the quality control of the food that comes out of the kitchen because it was unacceptable and if you are serving spoiled food you can get customers sick. We ordered the bolognese pasta and the catfish. The catfish was meh, it came with rice that was pretty bland and the catfish was also pretty bland. The bolognese was honestly disgusting. It literally tasted like wet cardboard, it was bland and the only flavor was cardboard. It almost tasted like the chef boiled the box along with the pasta. I try not to be too critical of food when everything else is good, but this was just really bad. I'd recommend just coming here for the drinks and the apps and then leaving. Atmosphere 8/10: The spot looks really nice, there's outdoor seating and the inside is dark, romantic and kind of older styled but with a comfy vibe. Nice place to grab a drink for a date, it wasn't too loud, wasn't too formal or too casual but just like a nice good vibe where you can talk and have a casual drink. Inconsistency is bad when you spend money on a bad meal. I live nearby and have enjoyed many good meals. Last night I ordered pork chops and emphatically asked my waiter to be sure it comes medium rare. He understood. My chop was beyond well done. Dry and impossible to swallow. My wife and I decided to stop in here for lunch the other day. They used to have a location around the corner where we live, which we frequented often. We were sorry when they closed. So we stopped in here and was able to order my favorite dish of theirs which is the baked oysters with spinach and panko crumbs. It did not disappoint same with the other dishes we ordered . We were welcomed like long lost family, which was memorable to us. The service was outstanding and the ambiance is cozy and relaxing. My husband and I decided we always wanted to revisit Oyster Bay since it is the town where we chose to purchase our wedding bands at the Jewelry Gallery right nearby. He came across Wild Honey and I have to say he knows how to pick an outstanding restaurant! We came around 12pm when they first opened and the staff were so friendly and warm. We chose a quaint, cozy corner table and dined on various starts from blackberry oysters (the pineapple mignonette they are served with is incredible!), spinach and truffle baked oysters, the filet mignon Texas toast (a MUST order, absolutely delicious), and the mushroom tatter tots, to drink a peach margarita (also a must order) and the Parisian. We loved our dining experience here so much and truly enjoyed our time spent here. We think we'll make it a yearly tradition to always come back and revisit.
