I have also noted that they have options to meet most budgets, including used/gently used cages, financing via an outside lender (OAC). This is very much of a family-style business that takes pride in getting to know each customer and your bird. They have bird club meetings hosted monthly for those interested in learning more. They also host get togethers monthly for socializing with others who enjoy birds too. Of course my favorite part is that birds are always welcome. I like to support this business because it's a small business, who supports other small businesses in my community, they encourage volunteers and even work with teens should your child wants to earn service learning hours, they support other businesses that are veteran owned and follow sustainable practices from what "doing my homework online " has led me to conclude. Finally, my favorite reason for supporting this business is because they further the cause and give back to the community by educating, encouraging responsible animal care, even assisting with fostering/care in emergency wildfire evacuations. I can really appreciate a business that "puts its money where it's mouth is and actively supports and advocates within the community" improving care and cause.

This store keeps their animals in improper conditions with little to no enrichment and poor husbandry practices. I even asked an employee directly about their care standards, and they admitted they keep reptiles on reptile carpet -- something that is widely known in the reptile community to be unsafe due to: * bacteria buildup * risk of nail/toe injury * unsanitary conditions There was no concern, no accountability, and no effort to improve. Really poor experience with my guinea pig who had some callous like keratin growths on the bottom…read moreof his paws. Thought it might be mild bumblefoot at first and took him here to get it checked out. They said it was bumblefoot/pododermatitis and that I needed to increase the cushion in the enclosure and frequency of cleaning. We did that and it didn't get better or worse so we emailed them which they told us to do if we have any questions, concerns or if it doesn't get better and after doing more research we suspected it wasn't bumblefoot and might be foot spurs. They took a week to reply to that email, and only after we had called them to see if they received the email. They brushed off the foot spurs issue and mentioned something about bone spurs which is entirely different and said that's not the issue. We let it go because it wasn't causing discomfort to Tom, but eventually recently we followed up again through email with pictures, and sources showing exactly what we thought was the issue, asking if they thought that could be it, or what we should do from here. Almost an entire month with no reply so we took him to another vet, and they immediately diagnosed him properly with foot spurs/keratin growths which is likely just a genetic predisposition that Tom has, and is not a cause for concern unless they grow and get out of control. I will say their staff and Dr.Fitzsimmons I believe his name was, were all very kind, but ultimately I warn against taking guinea pigs here. They may be excellent vets for other animals, I don't know so I don't want to harp on them too badly but it was frustrating that they spoke as if they were sure they know what is wrong but it ends up being a misdiagnosis. They also need to work on communication if they want patients to correspond by email.
