They are very proud of their 'nothing special' burgers here. A bacon cheese burger with fries and a drink ends up being 15 bucks, for a basic burger with basic bacon and fries. Was looking around for a new place to have lunch a few days ago and found Wibbley's! Surprised I haven't gone here before because I get Teriyaki frequently from another business in the same plaza and I've worked a few minutes away for over a year. First thing to note: If you plan on going, they only take cash/checks. They do have an ATM inside if you don't come prepared, but I'm not sure if the ATM charges a fee. If I could come up with any gripe it would be the fact that the patty is somewhat small but you can always purchase extra patties for $1.50 each. The burger was plenty big regardless. I got the Bacon Cheeseburger without tomato/pickle but it was still absolutely delicious. One thing that caught me off guard is that usually I'm not a fan of lettuce on a burger(mostly feels like a waste of space) but the shredded lettuce added a nice crunch and just added to the deliciousness. Seriously, it doesn't even make sense how good the burger was. Also, the fries were great and so was the shake. I got the Bacon Cheeseburger, a half order of fries, and a shake for about $12.50 which seems like a fair price. Not too high but not low. I'll definitely go again. My other half is pregnant so although there haven't been weird food cravings sometimes there are very specific requests for food. Last week it was "perfect french fries". Off to yelp I go with this criteria and find Wibbley's Gourmet Hamburgers. Usually I would have found a couple of comparisons, but I read one review that put Wibbley's in the same category as Char-grill and quit searching. For me, Wibbley's is as close to Char-grill as I'm going to get on the West Coast. The burgers were fresh and tasty. Perfectly cooked with enough toppings but not so many that the burger was all topping and no burger. And according to the pregnant one - the french fries are perfect. This little joint has some awesome burgers. I drive by it to my work everyday and haven't noticed it until very recently. But when I finally decided to check this place out, I took my colleague and came here on a Friday afternoon and boy was it crowded. This place is very small (although the seating was comfortable) and waiters here do their best to accommodate everyone asap. I liked my onion burger (substituted with a veggie patty). Strangely, their burgers are not awfully huge like in fast-food chains but decent size enough to satisfy your appetite. Fries are great as well but half order might just be enough unless you haven't had food since last two days! Tip: If you are a vegetarian like me, order any burger and substitute it with a veggie patty instead of going with a generic garden burger, if you wish. read more

Yes, it really does live up to the hype. I treat myself to a Wibbley's about every six weeks, and I always leave thinking, "That was worth it". The burgers are just so neatly crafted, sizeable, and delicious. The shakes? Yes. Get one. The fries, though?? Not their strong point. A half order is only 1.99 though (and is easily enough for one grown adult) if you just can't do without a side of fries. Om nom nom nom! Through reading some of the mixed reviews I was puzzled. This place is yummy according to some personal taste buds. As most businesses in the Eastside are spendy, this place isn't too bad with the pricing from an outsider's perspective. The burgers make it worth every penny. The deep-fried mushrooms are also quite delicious. The atmosphere is perfect for having a seat with your kids and listening to the darnest things they say as you indulge in some fine beef, bacon, cheese, fries, and condiments. If you would rather be a hermit at home, you can get your order to go. I had the teriyaki burger (sans mayo) with added bacon, and onion rings. The burger was hot, juicy, and tasty. The tomatoes tasted fresh and the bun was soft. The burger was a tad thin compared to the bun but the flavor still shone through. The bacon was nice and crisp. The onion rings left something to be desired, being not very flavorful nor crunchy. The chocolate shake was pretty good, it wasn't overly sweet and had a better level of chocolate flavoring than Hershey's syrup. $30 combined bill for the three of us to eat a filling meal isn't bad for the neighborhood, though for the soda prices I expected a larger cup. read more

Wibbley's, what happened? You used to be sooooooooo good and I was craving a Century burger! I was fresh out of the gym and craving a big fat juicy burger with fries. And I thought I knew just the place. It was this great little burger joint that I used to frequent when I worked in Bellevue a couple years ago. This place is a hole in the wall and was just a short jaunt from my old work and my current gym. I had always liked this place, it had that mom and pop feel to it and was unassuming and the food was delicious. But when I went last Friday, this was not the Wibbley's I had come to love, it had changed and I hardly recognized it. The service used to be friendly and quick but on this night the cashier was busy talking with what I assume was her BF and took her sweet time getting back to the cash register, sorry for bothering you to do your actual job. Then I ordered my old favorite, the Century burger. I love it because it comes with bacon (mmm bacon!), crumbled blue cheese and sprouts. Yes sprouts, I thought WTF too when I first tried it but it's really quite tasty and really completes the burger. Unfortunately they are having some weird ban on sprouts, much like tomatoes just a month or so ago, so there were no sprouts. Now I can't really blame them for the sprouts debacle but it sure brought the burger down a peg or two. Also, the burger was just ok, it kind of seemed like a frozen patty, I was not impressed. The size of the meal was nice, an ok sized burger and lots of fries, and that was the half order! But the food didn't impress me and the service was crap. I see other reviews that attribute this down hill decline to the fact that they have a "The people of Yelp love us" sticker and apparently it's the sticker of death. I hope not, I really liked this place and it's convenient so I hope they make some changes soon but I guess if people keep giving them money for their now "mediocre" food then what incentive do they have? I've been here a couple times and haven't been disappointed yet. My go-to order is the fried chicken sandwich with a side of onion rings. Hard to beat that combination of deliciousness, let met tell you. The space looks small from the outside, but there is actually plenty of seating so plenty of room to get comfortable and ready to enjoy a good meal. I'd say this place is ideal for lunch or for take out although do not forget to bring cash as they don't take cards. While this place wouldn't be able to compete with the likes of Lil' Woody's or Red Mill, I would have to say it is one of the better burger spots on the east side. Wibbley's Gourmet Hamburgers serves fairly typical American diner-style burgers with few menu options and no flair. They're not quite "gourmet," but I suppose that makes for a great advertising gimmick. Wibbley's has very small tables with very tall barstools, thus it isn't ideal for small children or large groups. I ordered a Century Burger featuring blue cheese, bacon, and lettuce (it typically comes with sprouts, but I substituted). The hamburger patty was slightly dry and wafer-thin. Paper-thin. Defying-the-laws-of-physics-and-cooking thin. I was immediately disappointed with the burger because of the skimpy piece of meat; mouth-feel was dominated by toasted bun and lettuce. The blue cheese accoutrement was nearly nonexistent, but added a slightly earthy, acidic flavor to a palate that seemed dominated by char. Bigger patties and more blue cheese could have hit this one out of the park. Was it good? Sure, but I've had better at Burger King. Wibbley's fries are fantastic and their servings are very, very generous. A standard serving easily feeds two people. The fries tasted fresh and look hand-cut; they are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, just like fries ought to be. A woman next to our table ordered fish and chips: the breading appeared to be the color of a "burnt umber" Crayola; it appeared to be dramatically overcooked and - judging by her general demeanor - probably was. Overall, "locally owned and operated" doesn't promise an authentic, religious burger experience. I'll give Wibbley's another shot, though a Red Robin burger - or a Five Guys burger - is noticeably superior. For a local burger, I'd head to EJ's in the University District. read more

Let's face it, I'm American, so I know my way around a french fry and I've had my fair share of them. This place has the best garlic french fries I have ever had. I knew after eating only one that there was no way any other french fry on the planet could compare. How did they pack so much flavor into single sliver of potato? Well they load on the garlic for one thing and I'm definitely in the "there's no such thing as too much garlic"- crowd. If we're judging solely on food (I ordered via DoorDash so I can't comment on the customer service or atmosphere), I'd say the burger was underwhelming. I tried this place three times, just to confirm to myself that I wasn't just cranky the first time I went there. In light of some of the reviews, I felt like it must be something about me. But, after spending the dough for three burgers and sides here, I have to say that I simply CANNOT understand what anybody who gave this place four-five stars is thinking. This, to me, is everything that's wrong with the state of hamburgers in Washington; proof positive that the standard for what we eat and how it's presented is shockingly low. I sat and watched the cook (owner?) and his assistant (wife?) make the burgers and, having been a chef for over 30 years, that told me what I needed to know. I can't swear to this but I believe they're using those pre-fab, previously-frozen food service patties that many restaurants that don't specialize in burgers use for their combination of dirt-cheap cost and convenience. They were almost completely tasteless, tanned more than cooked (NO nice crusty grill sear and rubbery in texture), and served on the most generic, pasty, turns-to-a-doughball-in-your-mouth, food service buns I've ever seen. I don't, seriously, think it was even as good as the omnipresent Gai's or Franz rolls that almost every burger joint in Western Washington uses. The lettuce was fresh but there was, all three times, WAAAY too much of it; the tell-tale for a restaurant that's trying to make their burger look substantial by trickery, rather than by meat. Their "gourmet" burgers are the usual, predictable combinations you're gonna find everywhere else that sells hamburgers; nothing "gourmet" about any of it. The fries were adequate and the shakes were the best part of all three meals but, on the days when I was there, the restaurant was in dire need of a good cleaning and their attitude and service from behind their counter was just short of dismissive. (By God, I KNOW I'm getting crankier as I get older, but I am FED UP with going into restaurants and having the staff saunter up to me and go, "He'p ya?" and look at me as though they'd rather be having a root canal. I've started speaking up about it, now, and it's just a damned good thing for Wibbley's that I wasn't doing it then.) Wibbley's has the look and promise of one of those little hole-in-the-wall eateries that don't get much attention but will wow you with the quality of the food. Unfortunately, what's on your plate doesn't even measure up to the McDonald's sitting a block away across Northup Way. The very fact that they don't have people telling them, outright, that they ought to take the word "Gourmet" off their sign shows how low the expectations are around Bellevue for good hamburgers. read more

Sub-par food plus poor service yields 2 stars. After being recommended this place by Redmond locals and a bunch of Softies, I thought I'd give it a try. My son and I went on a Monday night which wasn't that crowded. Here was my experience. Ordering: took a while to get ordered...perhaps understaffed that night. The ordering seems to write down grill orders but not drinks, etc. I had mentioned that I wanted fries and assure you i was charged for them (more later). Service: we didn't get our drinks until we were almost done with dinner. For a soda, that should be immediately provided. I mean seriously. For the chocolate malt...sure I understand that takes more time. But you should pour a soda while I'm getting my wallet out to pay. Service part 2: after we finally got our food I reminded the fellow that we ordered fries. He looked at me like I was mistaken...despite having just ordered not a few minutes before! He said he'd 'check the ticket' and get back to me. I knew how this was going to end up. He came back and said I didn't order them. I assured him he rang them up. He said he'd check again. At this point, the customer service wonk in my was just thinking -- shouldn't he just get me the small fries and call it good in the sake of service? He didn't. He proceded to bring back my grill order ticket and pointed out that he didn't write anything down. Listen dude, is it my fault you forgot to write it down? No, it isn't. I didn't make an issue out of it, but after asking 3 times I would have expected the "sorry, I must have missed it" attitude rather than working so hard to prove what we already knew -- you didn't write it down. Food: Here's the thing...you call something a "Gourmet Burger" and it better be. It better not be what I can get at Sonic. Unfortunately the Wibblet's Gourmet Burger was just that...a sub-par hamburger that had nothing gourmet about it. What is gourmet? Seriously, what...someone tell me. I realize they have other options on the menu, but I ordered something called the "Wibbley's Gourmet Burger" -- it was a basic hamburger. And not good. It was barely warm and did not taste like good meat...it tasted very much store-bought patties. There was really nothing enjoyable about the burger. The only thing moving my rating from a 1-start to a 2-star was the malt. Well done there. Not having a good experience here but craving a burger, we went to Fatburger (yes a *chain*) the next night and I realized that Fatburger is actually a really good place -- hot burger, made fresh to order. A few years ago, I heard you get a free shake on your birthday. So I gathered 3 friends and checked it out. The burgers were greasy and not really enjoyable. The shakes were good. Since then every birthday my SO and I have been going there for a free shake. They always gave it to us until this last time, when they said we had to order something to get a free shake. I don't think I would eat this food if it was free. (I mean sure if I was starving...) so I'm definitely not paying for it just to get a free shake. Absolutely love this place. Definitely a hidden gem. Anyone who says 5 Guys Burgers, Kidd Valley or Fat Burgers are the best burgers in town absolutely does not know good burgers. The blue cheese burger, southwest of the boarder are my favorites here. Onion rings are a must, and best of all...this place has the best milkshakes period.
