I love this franchise. I've been to the original in Mukilteo near Boeing many years ago and then kept going when they moved that location to Hwy 99. This was my first time at the Kirkland location and I like it for convenience to where I live. The product isn't as good as I remember it being. I had the cheesesteak deluxe combo which came with fries (love the battered fries!) and a fountain drink. The Mozzarella cheese on today's sandwich was lacking in quantity. I also thought it came with a choice of Cheddar or Wiz but maybe not. I remember it being very messy in a good kind of way and today's wasn't messy. It was also lukewarm when I got it which makes it seem like it wasn't served immediately after completion. Not too sure, but it seemed off. My go to places for cheesesteaks in the Puget Sound area are Calozzi's in Georgetown or even Erwin's Philly Cheese Steak up in Everett. Unfortunately, Philly Ya Belly drops to 3rd or 4th now.

    Deluxe and plain cheesesteak

=== Overall === A pretty fast place to get a okay Philly cheesesteak in Washington. Does not compare to the cheesesteaks in Philadelphia. === Food === I ordered a plain philly cheesesteak which was just bread, meat, and cheese. The bread was like a thick hot dog bun & both ends had no filling, my first large bites were just bun. The meat tasted a little bland and overcooked, the ends were very dry and didn't taste like much. Didn't taste bad though. The cheese taste was a little overpowering for me, I ended up giving the rest of my cheesesteak to my friend. My friend got the deluxe Philly cheesesteak and felt similar with the dryness but didn't mind the cheese. They still felt hungry after, the cheesesteaks aren't that large. === Service === It was empty when we went in and the person behind the counter was friendly. No problems. === Ambiance === The door is a little hard to find but the inside was clean and I liked the music and it was kept cool inside. I think most people would just choose to get their order to go. A lot of seating.

Philly Ya Belly opened its new location in Kirkland a few months ago. We decided to try it despite some reservations on my part with their buns. Yes, I can be a bread snob. When the ingredients are meat, bun, and basic veggies, getting the bread right seems fairly important. It was as meh as others have pointed out; it is a gloried hot dog bun. Sigh. The meat and veggies are ok. I did make the mistake of choosing no American cheese on my online order. It turns out that the white cheese in the photos IS the American Cheese, so mine was a no cheese Philly cheesesteak. Doh! Ours was a simple online order, and the order was ready when we arrived. The eatery looks clean. The Food: Philly Cheesesteak, $14.27 - 3 Stars This is the unintentional no cheese order. I normally would have chosen light cheese to 'glue' the ingredients together. This version allows you to add mushrooms, peppers, and onions at no additional cost. The meat and veggies were pretty good, mildly seasoned. If I didn't order the jalapeno peppers, I would have added hot sauce. The wide opening means I eat by squeezing the middle and biting down the middle. Very barbaric of me. The soft bun was completely uninteresting. I avoiding eating it, especially the two bread ends. Cheesesteak Deluxe, $15.27 - 3.5 Stars The deluxe version includes mushrooms, peppers, onion, plus tomato and lettuce. So, basically, tomato and lettuce cost you a buck. The cheese is not evenly mixed in. Hubby liked his well enough, but not a fav. Fries, $4.79, added grilled mushrooms, $0.85 - 4 Stars The fries were a reasonable size serving and crispy. I noticed the options to add veggies which was awesome. Each veggie costed less than the garlic of the garlic fries. LOL. Fried Jalapenos, $1.75 - 3 Stars I ordered these out of curiosity. They are not fried, as it jalapeno poppers. They are pan-seared. Well-seasoned, but nothing too interesting. Overall, we are unlikely to return.

Very welcoming nice staff. Fairly priced. For their happy hour, I got fries, a philly, and drink for $19 after tax. Plus, they have seating. I've noticed a lot of philly establishments don't have seating. Now I dont have to eat my sandwich in the cold. Great place. It is still not the best philly in the King County area, that goes to Original phillys in Beacon Hill but this is a great option.

A true hole in the wall spot on hwy 99 in the Lynnwood/Everett area. This is a place you'd drive by many times without noticing (like I have haha). We went here for lunch and really enjoyed both of the items purchased. We got the bulgogi cheese steak (belly buster +$2) and large cheese fries. The flavor of the cheese steak was good! Little bit of sweetness from the beef and it all worked well with the peppers, onions, and cheese. I do think the bun choice could be improved as it was very soft. I prefer my cheese steaks to have a little bit more of a crispy exterior. Cheese fries were good - nothing crazy but flavor was solid. Service was also fine. It's fast casual so you order up front and sit down - they then bring you your food. I'd probably pass on the belly buster next time. To me it didn't seem any bigger than the other, normal-sized cheese steaks my friends ordered. We'll be back for sure.

I know you've had korean mexican fusion but korean american is another thing all together. The bulgogi is just like my mother barely sweet but packs a mean punch. Like seriously a mean punch like she busted up her ex husband nose level of mean. Much preferred over the regular philly! Bulk approved and kanak ready!

You guys, I love Kirkland but sometimes I get homesick for Philly. So I was happy to see this little spot open. To be fully transparent I can't eat cheesesteaks because my body now rejects cheese and bread, but I can still eat fries so I figured I'd support them however I can. The fries are good! I was able to get them with grilled mushrooms! (My mom would love that.) They had unsweetened ice tea! (So many places don't, seriously, why?) The person I spoke with at the counter told me the cheesesteaks aren't fully authentic, they don't use hoagie rolls but use steamed rolls. But he also said people from Philly have told him that they liked them anyway. We only have nice things if we support these small businesses so people, try them out.

    Classic Philly Cheesesteak with onions
    michael s.

I keep coming back and here's why. First, the staff is friendly and helpful. I always love a small business, and the people here are really great. Second, I was awakened to the unbelievable experience that is the bulgogi cheesesteak. If you haven't had it, just try it. If a cheesesteak by itself is good, this thing is on a whole new level of great. I'm going overboard with the praise, but the first time I had it I split it with my brother and I took a bite, said out loud "oh my god this is good", and proceeded to regret not getting a whole one as I enviously watched my brother eat his half lol 3rd, my Kirkland bias. It's an impeccable location and prime spot to chill, have some good food and go for a walk. Get a cheesesteak, walk to the waterfront and enjoy or drive up to Juanita and sit at the park. Overall, it's flat out yummy food. So, come demolish one of these things.

Need something for those gray days? Well Philly Ya Belly with some ultimate comfort food! The philly deluxe cheesesteak ($16.77) with tomato, onion, mushroom, and white American cheese was hot, soft, oozy, yet not too oily or salty. I could only eat 3/4 of it by myself (with no sides), so probably shareable if you also opt for fries! Would eat and repeat! Though interested in trying their bulgogi cheesesteak next

This place is my new philly go-to. I'm not a native or philly snob or anything like that, just always looking for good hot meat N cheese on bread. Even the base option here is loaded, and I say if you're hungry go for the bigger size rather than the sides. The cheesy garlic fries kinda disappointed me in the garlic/fry space, and while the oreo pudding was a nice different dessert the final bill gave me a little sticker shock. That's why I say stick to a ++stuff sandwich mostly. For the sandwich it was mouth burning hot (love it), juicy with flavorful onion and peppers (love it), and the bread was soft and standard (I always wish these were toasted and crispy but I know that isn't standard...like it?) I'll be back. I'm looking forward to trying a few different combos off the menu, another reason I liked this place over something super basic like Jersey Mike's philly)

    Philly cheese steak wuth mushrooms
    Dena F.

Stopped by for takeout on our way to a Marina Park summer concert. My mushroom/steak sammy was very tasty, though lacking in meat quantity for the price. There was also bit too much cheese, but I really like the fresh mushroom option they offer. I thought it took a bit long for the order to be ready, though the staff were nice and I really appreciate that the steak was very tender and was cooked fresh. So although not truly authentic, the flavor was good and I'll go again, but I might ask for a little less cheese and order the larger size for more meat.

We just happened to pass by Philly Ya Belly walking to the outdoor summer concert and decided to check it out. The place is very clean and the menu is prominently displayed on a large video screen. I thought prices were a bit high for sandwiches - there were quite a few choices in addition to chicken wings and tenders. My wife had the mushroom cheeseteak and I had the deluxe. My only other experience with cheeseteaks in the Seattle area is from a place in S Seattle run by real Philly transplants, so my expectations may have been unrealistic. These sandwiches were tasty but definitely not authentic. The combination of the bread and melted cheese seemed overly soft, bordering on pasty in texture. The meat was very flavorful and ingredients were fresh. The sandwich was decent sized but not huge as is the norm for true Philly cheesesteaks. Service was friendly and my wait for the takeout order was reasonable. Overall, this was a decent option for a concert picnic but for something authentic I'll go elsewhere.

They have both great outdoor seating and inviting indoor dining as well. I started with a nice London Fog made with Earl Gray from Smith Teamaker. It comes in one size - large. My Mom got the Eggs Benedict with fresh dill which she enjoyed even though there was a slight hiccup. The English muffin under the eggs was over toasted and was very difficult to cut with a knife. But the staff was very gracious and remade the whole thing in no time. I got the roast chicken with goat cheese sandwich and my wife got the smoked turkey sandwich. Both come on bread they bake themselves. The fresh greens on both really elevated the sandwiches. DERU also has an excellent bakery case. We ordered a slice of the Coconut cake. It was a generous slice and delicious. If you don't have time to dine can walk up and order pastries to go. Will definitely be back again!

The menu is quite small with three cold sandwiches and three hot ones, each inspired by a different region of the globe with the South Pacific, South America and Mediterranean as a few examples. There were two salads listed as well. I've been here twice and both times, when I went to place my order on the iPad, the menu stated they were out of stock for the sandwich that I wanted. However, when I asked the employee, she said that was not correct. So if you see the same message when ordering, it's worth asking about it! During my first visit, I ordered the RENDANG ($14). This hot sandwich came packed with SO much meat! Very tender chunks of marinated beef tasted of coconut, curry and warm spices. The flavor had true depth and I could actually taste hints of cinnamon and nutmeg. Thin spears of pickled cucumber and carrot added crunch and a perfect zing of acidity. They were refreshing and cut through the rich beef. A drizzle of Sambal Terasi (chili) aioli gave it another layer of flavor. Cilantro, mint and Thai basil were all fresh and vibrant. The bread was lightly toasted, being a little crinkly in texture without being harsh against my gums. If I could change something, I would include a couple extra slices of the cucumber to balance out the ratio of vegetables to meat, and add a bit more of the aioli. Other than that, this is a great sandwich influenced by flavors of the South Pacific. My companion got the STEAK sandwich ($15) and enjoyed it. The steak slices were thinly cut and tender as well. They do their beef right! On another occasion, I tried the PROSCIUTTO ($14), one of their cold sandwiches. The delicate layers of prosciutto were placed on top of sliced tomatoes, pickled onion and arugula, all between pressed focaccia bread. Truffle mustard was spread on both pieces of bread, which was WAY too much in my opinion. With this mustard having a stronger flavor, it overpowered the sandwich and made it too tangy, especially in combination with the pickled onions. The menu stated this should include pistachios, but I didn't notice any, and they were all out of provolone, so there was also an absence of cheese. For the prices, these sandwiches are pretty generous in size, so I consider them a good deal, especially for the Bellevue area. The ingredients are fresh and make for a fantastic lunch option. While I wasn't a huge fan of the Prosciutto sandwich, I'd definitely go back again for another Rendang!

She said other than rice, there is a choice of Persian bread (flat bread with sesame) and salad. Curious that wasn't in the menu nor did she say it. Not a dealbreaker. Her reply did raise my eyebrow. The flavor is light with minimum seasoning. I applied hot sauce liberally to the sandwich. Portion size is large. I ate only half. Fries, $6.99 - 3 Stars Menu: Golden and crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside Some pieces aren't crispy enough. Some pieces are too thick such that the inside has the potato gritty texture. It's nice that there is half order as a lot of Hawaiian restaurants tend to be full orders so it is incredibly hard to try a variety of options if you're solo or in a small group. The Hawaiian chicken and karaage both are juicy and delicious. It's great that the combo is the same price as the standard individual options so I got to try more variety without paying extra. I looked at the reviews and opted to remove the rice and get extra salad which was a good move - their chop chop salad is very delicious with a nice balance of dressing, cheese, and ham.
