sad order of "half a pound" of chicken
Anna B.

after a decade+ of being a customer at ezells, today is my last visit. paid $17 and some change for "half a pound" of tenders and received the saddest 4 little pieces of chicken and some potato. what a joke just keep raising the prices and shrinking the portions. this location has been notoriously bad for skimpy portions since day one, but this was the end of the road for me. nobody should be paying damn near 20 bucks for a little school lunch. sad that a beloved staple has turned into a cash grab. shout out to the staff though, great service. the prices and portioning are not their fault.

Ribbon cutting ceremony at grand opening

Yay!! I was free today for the grand opening and first day of business at the new Ezell's Famous Chicken location at Totem Lake. I love this local icon of the Puget Sound area. It is so cool to see it expanding closer to my home and that makes it more of a reason to stop by for some awesome fried chicken and delicious sides (OMG, the rolls!!!). I had an 8 piece mixed combo and a side of spicy chicken livers to go for the family. My sides included their awesome mac n cheese and bbq baked beans. All were perfectly prepared and super yummy! I have learned recently that they are going to expand the business into Spokane and then Oregon soon which is wonderful to see. There is a nice local atmosphere and pride to the Ezell locations I've been to and this new Totem Lake location is no different. It has all of the favorites in a nice setting with lots of parking and a clean bright interior and smiling faces. At the grand opening today I witnessed the ribbon cutting, got a free Ezell's reusable bag, and met the staff and some local celebrities and Kirkland community ambassadors. There was a cheerful and optimistic vibe all over this place today. I believe it will continue for a long time. Thanks Ezell's Famous Chicken for doing chicken right and making our hometown shine!

Chicken strips. Small portion unfortunately. More like a kid meal.

Nice indoor setting area finally. Good location in Kirkland. They just opened today. David the manager was very nice and very welcoming. The chicken was fresh and hot. I just think the portion was too small. You can see in the picture. Because if that I give them four stars.

The chicken is perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and the heat levels are no joke -- I went medium and had just the right amount of burn without losing the flavor. The Hangry Sando on a brioche bun with cider slaw and pickles is a must-order -- the combination of textures and that signature Hangry sauce is chef's kiss. The waffle fries are consistently crispy and hold up well even if you're taking it to go, which is rare. We also tried the chicken wrap and the mac dish, and both were solid. Generous portions too -- you're definitely not leaving hungry (pun intended). The staff was friendly and the order came out fast. It is a little expensive but what place isn't now a days? Whether you're eating in or ordering delivery, the quality stays on point. So glad the Kirkland location is right up the road. If you haven't been yet, just go. You won't regret it

Ordered the Double Cluck with crinkle fries, garlic toast, and chicken strips with ranch. Overall... it was just okay. Nothing terrible, but definitely nothing memorable either. It honestly tasted like something you'd grab from a gas station--filling, but missing that "something" that makes you want to come back. The fries was pretty salty, and the whole meal just felt kind of one-note. Not bad enough to complain hard, but not good enough to recommend based on what I had. Service-wise, it took about 10 minutes to get my order--and I was the only person there. Maybe I just picked the wrong item, so I'd be open to trying something else if there's a standout on the menu. But based on this visit, it was pretty underwhelming.

Chicken was severely over-cooked and chewy, while somehow still managing to not be crispy lol. 80% sure the garlic toast was from Costco. "Arnold palmer" was predominantly pink lemonade? Not even sure you can even call that an Arnold Palmer lol. I'll give them credit on the house sauce which was good, and the disproportionate amount of fries were fine. Also not really an issue, but no indoor seating. So on a cold, rainy day like today we just went out and ate in the car which just added to the disappointing experience lol. Would absolutely just recommend making the drive over the bridge to Canes and getting the real deal.

Atmosphere: spacious, seems like most orders are ToGo/PickUp. Complimentary cabbage salad: it was very crunchy and fresh, the dressing was creamy, sweet and every so slightly tangy. Yakisoba: great noodle to topping ratio. Pretty much at least one topping in every noodle bite. The veggies had a very nice blanched texture and were added a light crunch to each bite. The sauce was as tad on the sweet side for me though. Fries: lightly seasoned and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I found I could eat these plain without the need for a dip. Original Fried Chicken: Very flaky and lightly crunchy. We would definitely stop by again if in the area, but we would not make a special trip just to go here.
