Took a minute to be greeted...even the blonde female middle aged bartender couldn't look up and make a lil eye contact or shoot a smile. Finally the host came. I decided to have a seat on the patio. A sunny meal would be nice...again it tool a minute for the same hostess to get at me on the patio. I know I normally would be outtie but I want to try new place so I compromise. Let's hope the food is better than the service! It was! The guy from the kitchen stepped out and was very apologetic and talked me into staying and asked for a second chance, I couldn't help but respect that plea. He promised better and he delivered better. The coffee was brewed fresh and replaced my firstly presented lukewarm cup without sugar and/or cream. I ended up ordering the breakfast sandwich that was served on a croissant. The sandwich was piping hot, colorful and presented beautifully, really it did. It was so good and did not need any additional seasoning or fruit spread to accompany it. That is pretty rare for me. I was happy I stayed but only because of the gentleman's attention to my disappointment and delivery to regain my business. The waitress I originally had was swapped with a different guy and he was much more attentive. Overall this impromptu visit to this Bishop Arts establishment was first sore but ended up swell. I appreciate his recovery and because of that I may just return...maybe. He made the difference from what would have been a 1-star rating to a 3-star rating. This is a loud bar in a quiet neighborhood. The outside seating is a decent area to hang out when in Bishop Arts, but I avoid this bar if it means sitting anywhere inside. The seats outside looking through the open windows (when it's nice outside) can also be cool. Inside though...it is always messy and loud for seemingly no reason. The drinks are not especially good or affordable. The beer list is acceptable (no drafts) although I believe they focus more on wine. Never had a full meal here and honestly wouldn't do it considering the nearby competition. Overall, Whitehall it is missing an element of refinement that I expect to find on Bishop. read more

It should be noted that I've only been here during "non-peak" times. Today is Labor Day and Whitehall was one of the only places open at night so my friend and I decided to stop in. It was much emptier than normal and most of the crowd was sitting at the bar. I wish I had gotten the bartenders' names because they were great! The two ladies working the bar today were friendly and attentive...but best of all they really know how to make drinks! Some of the drinks are a dollar or two pricier but they are strong af. SEXUAL HARASSMENT FROM CREEPY BARTENDER! Do not take your date here. The male bartender invaded my girlfriend's personal space to touch her and made inappropriate comments (he sexually harassed her). He is a Caucasian male, slim build, medium height, around 45-55, facial hair described as stubble maybe with a soul patch, and maybe glasses. I believe he was the only male bartender on staff that night. The bartender came to our table uninvited. He said he was a tattoo fan, struck me on my arm and took a combative stance, said to me "Do you mind?", whipped around me, and proceeded to inspect my girlfriend's tattoos with touching her. When he found out my girlfriend and I are both Scorpios, he said "you must have really great sex together." We were having a wonderful and romantic time at Whitehall Exchange enjoying your delicious Korean Sliders, the care from your server, and your great atmosphere (5 out of 5 stars). i came here last sunday with hubby & cousin during brunch & sat outside at the bar facing the inside of the restaurant. even though it was hot outside, the outdoor bar provided comfortable shade from the heat. Whitehall is directly across the street from another restaurant we were eating at for brunch, but since there was a 45min wait, we decided to come to Whitehall for a few drinks & appetizers while we waited. we were greeted promptly, waitress took our drink orders, and provided menus. my cousin had a margarita on the rocks & the hubby had a beer. they were both pleased. the hubby expressed he was quite happy with how cold the beer was! we ordered the salmon flatbread, which is basically a thincrust pizza with shreds of salmon on it. about 6 or 7 slices. there wasnt much salmon on the flatbread, so I would recommend getting extra salmon or hopefully Whitehall will read this & quit being so stingy with the salmon. we ate it with no complaints, but i felt like i was eating a cheese pizza. i'd be willing to come back again tho. they had a pretty decent brunch menu i want to try. the ambience was cool, good service, and good drinks. read more

Visited the place on 8/10/16. Staff was friendly and attentive. I ordered a couple of beers and my wife ordered two bloody mary which she really liked. Instead of following everyone else recommendations of eating somewhere else we decided to share some starters. 1. Mussels 2. Margherita Flat Bread 3. Calamari Which were okay for a bar. Sadly 3-4 hrs later we both became violently ill. Nausea, chills, lots of vomiting and the runs. We both suspect it was the coconut milk from the mussels. Good for drinks. Terrible for food. I live in BA so was very excited to see this place go in -- I always welcome the addition of a bar. I've been there 3 times now, and no matter how much I really want to LOVE this place, it just isn't going to happen. Last night when we arrived, the place had a few tables full, but was not super busy. It still took the bartender a very long time to come to the table. I went in and asked if I could grab a menu, she said yes, and then still took almost 10 minutes to come out and take our order. They have a decent selection of beers, but they are overpriced. I don't do fancy things like get drinks "on the rocks" so I don't know if they still want you to shell out $$$ for some ice. Worst part of the night: When the bartender made a snide comment about me ordering another beer. I had no keys in my hand, I was still sitting upright, and it was no where near closing time. Please just bring me a Lagunitas. Best part of the night: The awesome cook who went into the kitchen after she had closed down and made us some truffle popcorn. She even brought a napkin so the popcorn wouldn't blow around everywhere. Nice touch. Overall: it seems to be a fairly mixed, older-ish crowd. It's fun to sit outside and hear all the Uptowners say things like "oh, isn't this just cute" and "how quaint is this neighborhood". Service is meh, with moments of awesome. I went for their "Sunday Brunch" which I have said before that I DO NOT screw around with..... They TOTALLY squashed my expectation. I walked in on Sunday afternoon around 12 Pm ish.. She said welcome and said that the eggs Benedict was off the chain and that they do "wonderful things" to the Benedict.... so I ordered her suggestion along with a WELL Old Fashioned. The REGULAR Old Fashioned was $14 BUCKS!!!! For all of you out there that has no idea what this drink is here you go: 1 Shot of American whiskey 1 part simple syrup 1-3 dashes Angostura bitters Twist of lemon peel over the top, and serve garnished with the lemon peel and a maraschino cherry. Not much to it.... 14 bucks baby. My dish came out very quickly and looked wonderful!!....... until I took a bite. First off the "meat" that they used was the epitome of dry. It crumbled.... it took over with a very gritty texture and sucked the moisture completely out of my mouth. Horrible. It had what looked like canned stewed tomatoes, green peppers, a poached egg and some kind of square bread on the bottom. Everything except the "Mystery Meat" tasted ok but I just could not get over the fucked up dryness and texture of this meat! To top it all off, there was NO, none, the lack thereof, zilch hollandaise sauce. PPFFTT! Hacked off and still hungry I wait for the Bartendress to acknowledge my existence yet again. I put the empty plate and empty drink glass near the edge of the bar and to the far left of me to signal I was indeed finished. 15 minutes go by and a guy in blue jeans and a t shirt, who was helping the "Slammed" Bartendress, looked at me and said, " I would get your check but I can't. But I will let her know." I thanked him and he walked off. About 5 minutes later the stress ball finally came over to me and handed me the check. Not a word of "how was everything?" or "Can I get you anything else?" I was just handed the check. The driest Eggs Benedict I have ever forced into my mouth....$11 bucks. A good tasting Old Fashioned...... $14 bucks. Total: $25.00 Being almost totally ignored by a very inexperienced Bartendress..... Priceless. I hope that my experience is not the norm... If it is, may God help you keep the doors open. Conclusion: WAY THE HELL OVER PRICED. Needs to stock up on experienced staff. The food needs some major attention. Will I go back?... Cool patio. You can get some good people watching in here as it's right in the midst of all the Bishop Arts action. They also have bar bites, lots of options for brunch (til 3 pm on the weekends), and mimosas. It can be a little pricey. Staff can be a little hit or miss and not attentive during certain times of day. However I think it's a good option if Hattie's across the street is far too packed and you are looking to be seated immediately. read more

Very cool spot I must say. They have an indoor/outdoor bar area, you can sit outside and take in the scenery from the patrons on the street. You can go inside and cozy up to the bar. The bartenders are very nice and willing to go the extra mile to make sure you get the beverage you are wanting. The drinks are very strong, so beware. I went to this establishment last night, an individual who appeared to work as a staff member, randomly came to our table outside (the only table of minorities) acting incredibly unprofessional and inappropriate and demanded that we get our s**t and get the f**k out of their patio area. We had been there all night so we were very confused as to why we were the only table being targeted to leave in that manner. After we calmly agreed to leave and went to the street, he still at that point demanded we get out of the public street and get the f**k in our cars and leave. He continued to yell at us until other staff members had to pull him away and take him inside. This was incredibly disappointing since this was my first time at this bar. Later, another bartender came out and explained that someone had a drink thrown at them and it was assumed that the individual was with us, when they weren't. Even if that had been the situation, the way the staff member handled the situation was very degrading and appeared to be discriminatory in nature, due to the circumstances observed. I will not be going back to this bar and I suggest that anyone else avoid this establishment as well. read more

Stopped here for lunch the other day an sat outside because it was beautiful out for once! We just moved to Texas and were looking for some local places to check out since there seem to be a shortage of such in Arlington. The beer and wine was a little pricier than we expected but they made up for it with the food! Prosciutto flat bread and Korean BBQ sliders were both amazing. The flatbread had fennel on it which was odd at first but became quite tasty with the other flavors and the sliders were perfectly sweet an paired with tangy sauce and homemade pickles. Yum! Each place I passed brought more disappointment as I saw lines of people outside. None of these looked worth the wait. There was Whitehall - busy, but not packed. One tall boy situated near the back was calling my name. In I went, with absolutely no expectations. I was greeted by a friendly server, and within minutes the bartender came over to take a drink order. My bloody mary was tasty with just the right amount of spice. We had limited menu options for a Sunday, basically just the flatbread or breakfast options. We opted for flatbreads - one with sausage, the other with prosciutto and apple. Let me start with the sausage. Delicious! It was filling, tasty, and the sausage was flavorful. The prosciutto apple flatbread was good, but the apple was a mystery to me. It either completely lost its flavor in the cooking process or just wasn't the right ingredient to add, because it did nothing for the flavor. You couldn't taste it at all. It didn't take anything away from the pizza, it just didn't add anything to it. So, what leaves me confused? The ambiance. Enter the door and look towards the back and it seems like a quaint wine bar. There are bottles hanging from the wall on a large rack just above a couch and lounge chairs. Comfortable and intimate. Stand in the back and look towards the entrance and you see a small, seemingly hole-in-the-wall bar. The tables are scarce, the crowd is a wild mix, and the decor is mismatched. It's different, but not enough to keep me away. If Whitehall could do one thing to garner another star, it would be to work on the service. For such a small place, it lacks the attentiveness you desire from a neighborhood spot. I wouldn't say this is my first choice for a "wild," "rowdy," "loud" afternoon/brunch spot, but for something relaxing, in a cool, more up-and-coming neighborhood, I would definitely visit it again. read more

Overall a decent place to grab a drink. The drinks are pretty average, nothing bad or good really to say about them. The food is very meh, wouldn't suggest the wings...they are not too fantastic especially without any sauce and the sauce to dip is pretty flavorless. Popcorn is average, good as just something to snack on. Service is decent, not too fast, not too slow. Little bit pricey on some items but other items are fair. Overall, it is just a flat out decent place, I only come here to watch a sports game sometimes because it is right by my house....and that's what its good for, the environment.
