I eat here about 3-4 times a week. Food is great. Cocktails are unique. Staff is fun and friendly. I might be biased, but this is my favorite neighborhood gastropub.

Super yum hummus and olives. This is a generous portion.

So meeting my first date was a fail but the night was not lost. The bartender literally lifted my spirits and prepared me a soothing classic cocktail. Cheers!

Service was just eh. No order into which server was helping who. A table that came In 5-10 minutes after us received their drink order before ours was even taken. Took the server much more time to retrieve our order of two canned beverages (an Austin East cider and whiteclaw) probably won't be coming here again. Unfortunate service. Not even friendly. The ladies bathroom toilet was missing a topper to the commode. One of the doors had a hole punched through it and a curtain separating things the staff used to clean the establishment.

IT'S A MARG FOR MAGS AND MUCH NEEDED WATER IN HOT HOT TEXAS.

Great drinks, service was good. This bar is not as up to date as some of the other places around the area. The wood inside is weathered and this place looks like it has been here for a while but that gives it an old town charm. We had a few margaritas and a marg flatbread pizza It was a tad hot outside that weekend but there was a breeze going thru the bar area that provided a little respite from the heat. The bartender told us about local bbq joints and where we could find live music. What an enjoyable place. If I find myself in Texas again, I will find my way back to Whitehall.

Being new to this area, a local said to check out the Bishop Arts District for some culture and drinks so we decided to check this place out. It was a Sunday afternoon, and the place was pretty packed, so we came in here to get some drinks. The place is open and it was hot, but there was AC on inside. We just decided to get some beers, but my friend ended up ordering orders of Jack for us which was painful, but the alcohol definitely hit. It's a great place to just chill and get some drinks in. The food menu did look pretty good, so I definitely want to check it out the next time I'm in town. I also swear the beers I ordered were draft, but our bartender gave us canned beers instad. Not a big deal, but I thought it was worth pointing out. Other than that, great place to sit back and wind down with some alcohol with great company!

Erin was the best server, super attentive and really made my visit worth it! Would 100% come again because of her.

Mae stumbled upon Whitehall Exchange by walking through the beautiful, artsy Bishop District. Cool spot with plush long colorful couches, long bar and great energy. Most reasonable drinks you will find around these parts and great old school music!

Enjoying the vibe. Awesome old fashioned. About to dig into some flatbread and quiche.

Great vibe and good service. Really enjoyed my Old Fashioned. Decent wine list. Will be back.

My review is based solely on a quick drink visit. This establishment is located on a corner of the trendy Bishop Arts District. What drew us here was the musician/street performer playing live music in front of the restaurant. He was really talented and brought a nice vibe to the scene. We ventured inside and sat at a high top. My party of 4 ordered drinks, chilled for a few and dipped because we had a flight to catch back home. It was a quick visit, so nothing to complain about...oh wait except in the ladies restroom, the toilet did not flush. Yuck. Other than that, I liked the atmosphere.

Love music on Saturday. Awesome surprise and great atmosphere. Great price for really good drinks vs all the other $20 cocktail spots in Bishop Arts. 10/10

I visited the Bishop Arts District this past weekend and I really wanted to find a good brunch spot. I stumbled upon Whitehall Exchange, and I must say I was very pLeased. I knew I would have a full day of drinking ahead of me, so I wanted to order something hearty and that would fill me up. The waitress recommended the breakfast croissant. It was very flakey and the scrambled eggs and bacon set it over the top. I knew the side of fruit wasn't going to be enough for me so I ordered their breakfast potatoes and boyyy let me tell you... those potatoes were excellent. Not to mention I had to pregame with a carafe of mimosa ( only $10)

This was a cool little spot. It is on the corner indoor and outdoor seating. There was a guy on the corner playing a guitar. We just stopped and had a couple of beer and took in the scenery. The service was good. As far a eye candy, yes plenty of that inside the place and walking the streets. We were there sitting outside for about an hour or so around 3-4ish. I recommend the spot and will visit again. The beers are craft beers not regular domestic and international brands.

It had just started to rain when we arrived, so we sat inside - although their outside seating looked lovely. Ampelos is a bottle shop that sells a few select wines by the glass (maybe 8-10 options?). We tried a few wines they had by the glass (at least 3 different wines). They focus on natural wines, so I would have tried anything they offered! But they had a Southold wine that I knew I wanted (Southold is a Texas winery that closed up shop and moved to France, so they'll be running out of wine produced from their Texas grapes soon). We also grabbed a bottle that I gifted to my Dad later that evening. They offer a few small snacks (like olives) and flights on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The space is small, but cool (although it being on the darker side with neon lights for decor did make it look closed from the outside on a rainy day), and the service was great. I would definitely return. Ampelos is a place I would frequent if I still lived in Dallas!

She said, "I'll get it out for you," and took it back. Removed the fly and handed it glass back to me! Didn't offer to give me a new glass or anything! As we were leaving, I took the glass in still filled with wine and she remarked, "Oh, you didn't want to finish it?" I said, "No. That would be gross."

This little spot use to be the lemonade place, however they have done a wonderful job recreating the space. Is intimate, great for a first date, a glass of wine, a girl friends gathering . . . And they serve food. I came with a large group of girlfriends for a Christmas party. We gathered at 7pm and I don't know if my hostess told them to wait but it was an hour before we ordered food but the food came out rather quickly. I ordered the pot roast and although the meat was TEN-DER, the meal itself lacked seasoning. I was told the roast was cooked in a Mississippi pot roast style, however besides seeing the pepperoncini, I wouldn't have known. The mashed potatoes lacked seasoning and it all felt a little greasy to me (too much butter which I never thought I would EVER say!). The staff were really nice and accommodating. I missed the sign that says fee for using credit card, but it was a small fee, but just so you know. There is a backyard/porch area as well. So a nice spot as the weather gets nicer and who doesn't love options. I will say I was eyeballing the salad - it was a nice portion size that could be shared. I was disappointed by the cost of the bread and the size of that but that's just me. Overall I'd give it another try.

The Texas Tempranillo stood out with its depth and character, and the Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon was a clear favorite--bold, smooth, and well-balanced. I've also heard that Barons Creek hosts themed events, which adds another layer of appeal. The idea of pairing their wines with a fun or seasonal theme sounds like a great way to experience the tasting room. Beyond a standard visit, and I'm definitely looking forward to attending one of those events in the future. Take home message: Overall, this is a great spot for both casual wine drinkers and enthusiasts. Between the inviting location, quality wines, and engaging events, it's a place worth returning to.

We tried a few bites - the patatas bravas, which are thinly fried potato chunks lightly dusted with paprika and topped with garlic aioli. It sounds simple, but was ridiculously addictive, and we found ourselves ordering another serving that night! We also tried the steak, which was perfectly cooked to our desired temperature (medium rare), but was otherwise pretty simply prepared, served atop steak sauce. And we also tried the burrata which came as two small pieces of toasted bread, juicy burrata and charred broccoli (also a simple but satisfying dish). All of the dishes are pretty small, so you would probably need to order at least a handful for a couple to feel pretty satiated, but that makes it fun to try more wine at the same time ;) We were curious about the pork belly, which the owner proclaimed to another guest that night to be "her favorite item on the menu." We can't wait to try that on our return visit (with another order or two of the patatas bravas, and maybe the tostadas too!). Definite recommend for a cute date night off the beaten path!

First of all, the Bishop Arts District itself is incredibly charming. As for The Wild Detectives, the concept alone immediately appealed to me...bookstore meets cafe meets bar meets restaurant. That combination will pretty much always grab my attention. I love to read, I love to eat. The space has a pretty relaxed, community oriented vibe, and during my Saturday morning/early afternoon visit, there were plenty of people working, reading, chatting, and hanging out both inside and on the patio. My one slight disappointment was that the bookstore side itself was smaller than I expected and didn't have quite as extensive a selection as I had imagined. That said, I still managed to leave with a few great additions for my ever growing TBR pile. Overall, this was a worthwhile stop and one I may revisit the next time I'm in Dallas.

I will say when i arrived i was a bit annoyed. It was my first time there and when i said i was there for trivia i was told i could sit at the bar and would have to wait for my whole party to arrive. When my party arrived (regulars) they seemed to think that was crazy so maybe that policy depends on who you are. When i sat down at the bar i was ignored. I had to ask someone for a menu and i was directed to a QR code and then as far as ordering i was sitting there waiting for someone to notice me again for several minutes. Again, they weren't super busy. I finally was able to order and a few minutes later my friend showed up and we sat at our table. I ended up with a mexican coke, elote and avocado tostadas. The food was decent. Not exceptional. I wish the tostada had chunks of avocado instead, it was a thin later on the bottom. The elote was good. Maybe i just didn't order the right thing. My friends love the place and it appears to be a neighborhood staple. I will come back again with them and I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt with this review.
