Eclectic & interesting menu but everything we had was delicious. Really cool decor with numerous cozy dining areas - bar was cool too. Very good service - good beer, wine & cocktail menu. Would definitely recommend & return when in the area. read more

I was very let down by White Dog Cafe. I have had their food once before, and it was nothing special. Definitely not worth the price. Then, I decided to make a reservation there for a birthday brunch (against my better judgement). I specified that we would need an outdoor table, because we had a dog joining us. The day of the reservation rolls around, and it is drizzling all morning. I go in and explain that we have a dog, and the hostess said that if the dog wasn't too big, we can bring him inside to eat (he is a beagle, so not very big at all). I was surprised by this, but she said they had done that in the past. So I told my friend who was bringing her dog that everything was good to go, and she can proceed with bringing him. Once she arrives, the manager comes out and says that our only option is to sit outside in the rain. He said we can wait for it to clear up, I said okay, and then he made sure to remind me "but it's supposed to pour for the rest of the day." I decided to leave and have brunch at Rosalie instead, which i HIGHLY recommend instead. They were super accommodating and allowed dogs on their enclosed patio. I would have totally understood if they said from the get-go that dogs cannot be inside, but to be told that it is something they do regularly, then to be turned away, was very rude and frustrating. Do not waste your time and money on bad food and service. read more

I don't think you realize the chokehold this place has me in. I come specifically for the deviled eggs. I love them so much. They have truffle oil, caviar, and a potato crisp. 10/10 I also love the bloody Mary's and truffle fries. The bartender on Saturdays is so friendly and attentive. Will always come back. read more

We went for lunch yesterday at 12:30. We were seated on the patio. There were only 3 tables being served. We had water and salads--Caesar and Little Gem and Carrot. They were on smaller plates than those we saw served next to us. The Caesar croutons were tiny, and hard as little rocks. The lettuce was just thrown on the plate, on top of the c very few croutons. Very unattractive and unappetizing. The dressing was very, very mild- not Caesar and no hint of anchovy. It was more like an appetizer salad that you would probably ignore if included with the meal. Our salads, minimal ingredients as there were, took an hour to arrive! We did not leave the restaurant till 3:00! They apologized for the salads taking so long, and offered us a free drink. (we had water) And still we waited, and watched a table who came in after us, get served ahead of us. I think people go there for the outstanding decor, not the food. The menu hasn't' changed for as long White Dog has been in Wayne. Maybe they could add some cracked pepper and some parmesan on the salad, or some cheese crisps? A few cherry tomatoes since it isn't really a Caesar salad? An anchovy option? Store bought croutons would be better than what was on my salad. The salads appear to be just the "base" for the protein add ons, not an entree of itself. read more

Food and service are great. Portions are smaller than most places but appropriate unless your goal is always a doggie bag for left overs.

Good food and service. We always get the mushroom soup before the meal. Always try their specials.

I've visited White Dog Cafe for brunch, lunch, and happy hour and they were all special in their own right. Service is always friendly, quick, and knowledgeable. Happy Hour is 4-6pm on weeknights, only at the bar. Expect lots of canine themed decor, specifically many framed paintings of pups. There is a heated outdoor tent along with regular outdoor seating during the warmer months. Free parking is offered on the sides or in the back (valet is offered!). You can also park in the lot across the street. read more

Let's get the complaints out of the way first: - service was slow at times (and quick at other times) - a little pricey - the outside is a little on the chilly side. Some more heating would help. Plenty of good things though: - the inside is nice and cozy - great atmosphere! - the food is very good! We sampled a few starters and they were all good, and the grilled swordfish was one of the best dishes I had lately, the "salad" it comes on top of has an addictive dressing that in all honesty should probably be declared a controlled substance :) - the staff is nice and friendly - I would love to try to sit outside on a nicer day. It looks like the area is nice read more

Great service, Delicious Food and tasty drinks. I never had a bad experience at White Dog Cafe, especially this location. The food at other location isn't as great as this one. I came here numerous times before COVID and this was the first time I visited after the pandemic started. Waking in, nothing changed since the last time I visited. The workers are very friendly and accommodating. The food tasted as good as last time! The bathroom is always kept clean so I have no complaint there either. They do offer outdoor seating but it was too cold for us to sit outside. I do wish that they were little bit more COVID friendly with spacing. Even though we visited on a weekday, after dinner time we were sat pretty close to other people. If you're looking for a night out, this is a place you must try! read more

Good pub food. Interesting menu items but needs some more satisfying offerings. Good drink good service. Dog art covers the walls.

The Asian ribs came out refrigerator cold. They were also super fatty and over sauced. I have a smoker at home and can make better ribs without trying. The lamb bolognese was warm but the pasta was over cooked and was more like baby food. The lamb shake was decent but no reason to go here. Classic mainline bad place. Avoid. read more

Ok the place is nice. Nice area easy to park. Their whole shtick is white dogs. White dog pictures with white frames white dog statues. The bushes outside is shaped like a labrador. You get the idea. Very fancy inside. The service is very good. Waitress was friendly and attentive. The place was clean. The bathroom was nice. The food was meh. 22 dollars for eggs and coffee and they were undercooked. The coffee cup looked like a Child's cup. And it was lukewarm. I should have just got a cheeseburger. Disappointing. read more

We've been to all the locations. I wanna say this is my favorite but I'm afraid of hurting the other locations feelings. They all have their perks. So we drove passed the White Dog location in Wayne on the way to the car wash. My wife wanted to stop. I was hesitant because the bill by the end of a White Dog meal can be a little hefty. They aren't the cheapest place. However the quality makes up for it. So we got a wash and headed back. We arrived just in time for them to close for an hour. So we sat at the bar and chilled while we waited. I as a dog lover could not love the decor more than I do. Dog this, dog that. The place just looks so cool. outside eating area is perfect. I got the brand new life mocktail. So they started their fall menu and dayuuummmm. I got the mushroom Ruben. My wife got the squash soup and falafel. We shared Parmesan fries. I tried hers and she tried mine. The soup was excellent. Even though the place was poppin' a few super nicely dressed people stopped by to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. Not sure how many managers are on at a time but they made sure to check on everyone. I love every location and I've never had a less than excellent experience at any of them. read more

Very beautiful interior with very nice staff and good service. We had reservations and were about 5 minutes early and had a wait with multiple open tables in a variety of their rooms. With this the cue was extending out of the front door as the waiting area is very small. I am not sure why there was a backup at the hostess stand. The bread basket is AMAZING! But certainly a splurge at $12 for 4 pieces. The French onion soup is one of the best I have had. The burger for $25 was no where near worth it nor comparable to any half decent restaurant with a similar burger for $15. Especially that I ordered it medium, and it came out well done. The fries served with the burger were very good. Overall, nice place with good service, but not outstanding. Couple that with the price point and the hot or miss menu items is the reason for the review. I would go back and give them another try. However, they could hit 5/5 with more consistent menu options and service to match the price point. read more

Four of us enjoyed a very nice Sunday dinner last night. The room was beautiful and quiet (hard to find a quiet restaurant). G]Food was delicious. Pork ribs, steak frites and pasta primavera. The bread basket is not to be missed, and it comes with cute little jars of accompaniments. Two of us enjoyed a very nice Pinot noir. At this point I've been to their University City, Chester Springs and Wayne locations. All terrific. The highlight of the evening was our charming server, Jason. read more

This is our go-to restaurant whenever we're in town visiting our son at Villanova. Reliably good service, drinks and food.

Despite the cold and unfeeling hostess who didn't greet us at all, the rest of our dining experience was great. Our wait person was Caroline who was friendly, warm, and kind. The food presentation, quality, and quantity were excellent. We dined here for brunch at 1230 on a Saturday. Tip: Be sure when making a reservation if you plan on patio dining to specify this otherwise there's a long wait. Just overlook the negativity at the lobby because once you're in, it's happy happy joy joy! read more

I have tried the white dog cafe in university city so I was super excited to find out that they had another location in Wayne. The interior is so cute and filled with cute dog portraits. There's a nice bar inside and plenty of tables for dining. We opted for the brunch hours and ordered the deviled eggs, eggs Benedict and my bf got the steak and eggs. I tried his piece of steak and was super impressed with the cut and how it was cooked. The deviled eggs had caviar on top and it tasted just as good as it looked. Sunday brunch - Wilted brown little gem salad, seasonal fruit was a bowl of apple slices, omelette with spinach and sundried tomatoes was lukewarm warm with foul taste. Seems like the kitchen needs some work. Overrated will not return. We should have left as soon as we heard the brunch special was a buffalo chicken omelette. read more

I feel like I've reviewed white dog Café several times, but I've been asked to do it again (maybe mine was outdated) . I am more than delighted to share my experiences with this terrific restaurant. I have to say the food and ambience stands up against the test of time. The menu changes with the seasons, but keep some standards. I'm not alone when I say I am obsessed with mushroom soup. Thank God it remains on the menu. This past summer I was pretty enamored with their cornbread. I guess I'll have to wait until next spring or summer for them to put it back on the menu. I am counting the days. My friend and I shared the delicious deviled eggs. They are not only beautiful but yummy. The caviar on top was a nice touch. My friend enjoyed her omelette, and I loved my very large chicken sandwich. Next time I might sub the salad for french fries. I couldn't stop eating my friends fries. White dog has away with french fries! I feel like the menu is brought enough to a lot of different palettes. I've had here since they opened years ago. I frequent this restaurant and have always enjoyed every bite. Their burger is Devine! I think that it is one of the very best on the mainline. read more

I recently visited this cafe before the state ordered closing of restaurants due to COVID-19. The outdoor dining area was nicely decorated for the holiday and heaters were available to make the dining area more comfortable. They checked my temperature before seating me and all staff wore masks. The tables were spaced well to allow for social distancing. I enjoyed the arancini appetizer. It was creative and tasty. I ordered the Diver Scallops for my entree. The scallops were cooked perfectly but I didn't really like the plating of the dish or the items which accompanied the scallops. There were two types of cauliflower on my plate. One was roasted and the second was pickled? The pickled item didn't seems to work well with the rest of the dish. The entree was okay but not spectacular. I did order dessert since I was dining here on my birthday. The almond tart was just okay. They did add a candle which was thoughtful and wished me a happy birthday. This was not the best dining experience for me but I would return for a second time when less restrictions are in place. read more

Still a solid neighborhood go-to with a good range of menu options and a cozy ambiance filled with dog-themed decor. The tried and true options are evergreen (like the burger, mushroom soup, and pear salad) with some seasonal additions like a pork shank in time for Oktoberfest. The Hawaiian rolls are a must-get - fluffy and with just a hint of sweetness. Will be back! read more

Great food and drinks. The service is quick. Nice place. Great place for a girls lunch, a meet up or just for a cocktail.

Yummy bites here! The food is elegant but hearty. We got a bunch of comforting, warm bites. The table really enjoyed their meals (meatloaf, short ribs, and falafel burger), while mine was standard but not anything out of this world (sesame crusted rice side with shrimp). Honestly, the best part of the meal was dessert! We got the pumpkin toffee lava cake and the creme brûlée - so good. The restaurant is very aesthetically pleasing, however the biggest downside was that we were seated near a bunch of windows and it was freezing during our meal. The waitress was kind enough to ask management to bump the heat, but we still all ate with our coats on because it was that cold. It was very cold that night, but still, not the most comfy dining experience. Would definitely go back in the summer! read more

Abigail our server was attentive to my allergy card which she had the chef review. I was safe to eat foods ordered. My husband ordered the Kennet square mushroom soup which is flavorful & thick. We shared the cheddar cheese burger w there sauce, grilled onion, lettuce & tomato which was perfectly cooked to a medium rare. Good flavor combo. English pub decor with pictures of assorted dogs added a special note to the white dog. read more

I stopped by here last night as I wanted to avoid my horrendous commute back home as much as possible. I really enjoyed this place. The service was good and the happy hour specials were great. $12 for 6 oysters, $12 for Tuna Tartare, and $9 for Caesar Salad. Also, the glasses of wine ran $7. The place was pretty busy and people were really enjoying themselves. There is plenty of bar seating and the vibe here is fairly trendy. There is plenty of parking here as well. read more

What a treat! There were seven of us that sat outside. Not a great start since one of the chairs was fully broken and hadn't been removed. Our waitress was a tad slow and very frenetic, but we weren't in a rush so alas we enjoyed our evening. So here's the run down - Cocktails - The watermelon spicy margarita was totally inconsistent. The watermelon mint martini, however, was quite good. Starters - The house made soft pretzel bread was to die for. Totally get this. The roasted garlic hummus was meh... I'd skip it next time. ALWAYS the Kennett Square mushroom soup. Creamy, decadent. Yellowfin tuna tartare was alright but not very much for $18. Mains - the spicy lamb bolognese is absolutely incredible. Tons of sauce and meat. I will come back for this dish specifically. The cheeseburger...was a cheeseburger. The chicken was a massive portion and well seasoned (but it's chicken). The steak frites were not a large enough portion to justify $56. Dessert - peanut butter crunch was super decadent. The vanilla bean crème brûlée was nothing crazy but had a nice touch of a shortbread cookie and fresh berries on top. Would be great if they got their things together in a handful of areas but overall enjoyable evening. read more

Stopped in last Sunday for lunch. I had never been here before. My friend told me I'd probably love it, and she was right!! I thought the interior design/decor was absolutely beautiful...even in the bathroom! I had a burger which was wonderful! So the canine theme and décor is a bit kitschy especially when you consider that you have to retrieve toilet paper (in their spotless restrooms) out of a dogs mouth. The atmosphere is full immersion colonial with a surprising number of patrons enjoying Saturday brunch in formal business attire that had me thinking Manhattan instead of a strip mall in Wayne, Pennsylvania. In any case the food was exceptional as were the constant reminders of cage free, locally grown, organic food sourcing. George Washington could have very easily eaten here, provided the General was hip to every trend in modern gastronomy. Seriously, despite the unexpected formality and earnestness (for my taste) an excellent meal was enjoyed that was as tasty as it was unrushed. The White Dog Café is pure-bred. Enjoy. read more

If you don't go here for anything else, go for the brussels sprouts. They are amazing!!! I can't wait to go back just for that! Some of the other parts of dinner were a little uneven. I love that they have a separate vegetarian menu. Both that and the regular menu made it very hard to choose as everything sounded so yummy! So it did take us awhile, and the server was patient and kept checking back. What I ordered and what I received were 2 very different things. I ordered a mushroom cheesesteak from the vegetarian menu. It was the first thing that caught my eye. I envisioned a sandwich with overflowing mushrooms, with cheese coating them in oozy goodness. What I got was a spinach and mushroom sandwich, where the second question was where's the cheese? The first was this is a cheesesteak??? NO!!! This is MARKETING! The spinach and mushroom sandwich was delicious. Don't get me wrong. It just was NOT a mushroom cheesesteak. This is Philadelphia, cheesesteak country! If you're going to call something a cheesesteak, even a veggie version, it had better be a cheesesteak! WE KNOW THE DIFFERENCE! This was not I was not amused, especially at $16! And half the plate was salad. What's wrong with salad, you might ask? Nothing at all, if you didn't order a salad as an appetizer. And here again was the problem with descriptions. The Beet and Arugula salad was absolutely kickass! But it was large enough to be an entrée. I asked the server if it was an appetizer or entrée portion, and she said it was an appetizer size. I'll post a picture here and you can judge. I was full after that salad, especially with the delicious bread that was served before the meal. I would've appreciated an honest answer that it was large, so I didn't order 2 entrées. I'm not a fan of taking stuff home as I usually don't have time to eat it the next day. But because I received a large plate of salad and complained about it, that's how I came to know the indescribably delicious brussels sprouts! So I guess things happen for a reason! LOL Those brussels sprouts took the rating to 4 stars. They were charred and phenomenal, though a little less salt would be my recommendation. The marketing fiasco would have me rate this 3 stars. The beautiful restaurant setting and the awesome menu, as well as the flavors, would normally have me give this place 5 stars. But we were not happy with the service as we were misled on many counts. My friend had a Caesar salad that was supposed to have some kind of croutons that had none. So the kitchen that night was pretty erratic. Caesar salad with no croutons, mushroom cheesesteak with no cheese. $38 for a salad and sandwich. read more

This has been our weekend brunch spot for a bit. Always have had good food and service. Staff is always friendly and attentive. Two of us are gluten free and thankfully they have good options to make it easy to eat. Today they went a little above and beyond. One of us got French onion soup, and I made a comment how I haven't had it in ages since they always have bread in it. One of the staff overheard, and five minutes later brought out a bowl of French onion soup sans the bread. Was very unexpected, and us two glutarded ones downed it quickly. Maybe they'll take it another step and just make it a regular option or use their gluten free roll as the bread. Though I'm quite fine without the extra carbs. read more

The serving size was perfect to fill a hungry person without feeling stuffed. Our waitress was actually the bartender, Fiona. She was quick to greet and assist us.
