No one says "please" or "thank you" They just stare at you when it is time to pay and just hand over the change. The employees are talking to each other while I wait to be stared at for a response from me. I could take the rudeness but the hamburgers are not the same as before. I never knew White Castle Valentine's Day was a thing until recently. Something popped up on social media the day before V-Day, and there happened to be a White Castle nearby so I thought why not? Let me see if there are any reservations available (you have to make ressos via Open Table at participating White Castles), and there was one for 6:30! I wasn't sure what to expect but it was POPPIN. The dining room was full with a line of people waiting in hopes to nab an open seat. The concept is that you get a full dinner service and you choose from a menu of specials along with White Castle classics. At the end of the day, it's still White Castle. Soggy oily sliders that will fill you with regret. But it was definitely an interesting experience. We talked to some people who said they used to come every year until Covid. Apparently, 2023 was the first time they brought it back since Covid. This was more of a one-time thing for us but it was still cool, nonetheless. Just come in with low expectations. That's what we did and I think that's probably why we had such a great time lol. read more

I can only go once a year,even though it brings back fond memories of my youth. But after all it's white castle.

I grew up on whiteys so I love anytime I'm back home I get a whopping order of everything I can think of. The steamed burgers are heavenly, the fries crispy, the union rings divine, the Dr pizzle fizzles. What more can you ask for! The service at this particular location is awesome, beware of other locations in the area. The ambiance is frighten White Castle get outa hea! Park and eat and shadapppp! Took my 96 year old father to White Castle after shopping on Rt 17. We ate inside and probably should've The black haired possibly Spanish counter person was a complete jerk. Rude to a 96 year old who was trying to place an order. We were the only two people in the place ordering food there were people just sitting around drinking soda from the machine that dispensed everything. He practically tossed the cup at us for our drink and was definitely having a bad day. He should have stayed home as he just gave this location a 1 star review because it's not possible to get less. I arrived a little after 11am on a Tuesday, as I was craving White Castle (or was it an Orange Hi-C?). Once I pulled up to the drive through, I noticed on the menu that the Chicken Slider combos offer 2 sliders, while the original slider combos offer 4. So, I ended up ordering a regular chicken slider combo with two cheeseburger sliders with just cheese and onions. For the Chicken combo, it was around $10, and the cheeseburger sliders were about $1. 35 each. For Northern New Jersey, that's about par for the course these days. The chicken sliders were quite tasty, but I'm glad I asked for mayo on the side, as they were a little dry. That, and the fact that I was charged $10 for what equated volume and quality-wise to a McDonald's McChicken Meal was a bit disappointing. The fries weren't bad either, but the cheeseburgers were really a disappointment. The outside of the buns were nice and soft, the burger was well seasoned, and there was an abundant amount of cheese. The problem was that the bread innermost closest to the meat and cheese was a soggy mess. I know that they're steamed, but it was a bit jarring to go from tasty to soggy upon every bite. It was so unappetizing, I didn't even finish the second one. All in all, I'd say whatever love affair/honeymoon phase I had with the brand is over at this point. This location is near my home which is perfect when we've craving it! I've never had an issue with my order. My main reason for reviewing this location is because of the drive through worker. The few times I've been has been during the day. I tend to always see the same woman working the drive thru. She is very personable/ friendly and the customer service overall is great. read more

First time trying an actual White Castle and man, I was so excited. Walking in first and for most there was caution tape around the entire dining room. The restrooms were closed to the customers and I was shocked at the prices. The fries were okay the sprite was flat and the burgers were disgusting. The frozen ones you buy at the store were better but that could be bc I use Heinz ketchup and not their brand which was toooooooo tangy. Will I go back 100% no. In the city I live in, we don't have White Castle, so I occasionally stop in when I'm visiting in the northeast. This evening I stopped by the location next to my hotel, the girl was funny and very friendly which is highly unusual for a drive through system. I think the last time I ate at White Castle, Ragan was Pres, or was that Ike? Well, time to see what's up so I walked in since I wanted to take my time looking around and skipped the drive-thru. The counter girl quickly took my order but I felt sorry for her because she had to press 7 or 8 buttons to get the waffle chicken sandwich into the antiquated ordering system, and the same for the bacon cheese slider. I also got the hash brown nibblers. The kitchen was a well-oiled machine putting out dozens of siders per minute. Well first off the hash brown nibblers are the star, there are crispy bite sides pieces better tasting than McDo's hash browns. The waffle chicken also comes with some soft bacon too but not crispy and it was another winner considering my bar here was not too high. I was even tempted to put it back into a toaster oven at home to get the waffle crispier and add some maple syrup to it to make it star level. Unfortunately, the sider was too cheap on the meat. I think I need to triple or to quad it, else it's just cheese and soft bacon sider, no wonder they sell boxes of 10, 20, and 30 of them. I don't care what anyone says about the belly bombers I've been in love from my first 1bite when they opened up the castle in Nanuet NY. It was always economically sound and tasty. When I moved and started going to this Castle I worried I haven't had a lot of success with fast food in Bergen County cold wrong orders sup par customer service you name it. With that said . This Castle is the most efficient , kind ,hardworking bunch around here by far !! They have never gottten my order wrong & the drive thru moves like a well oiled machine. Always smiles & pleasant no matter the time 24/7. It's no 5 star restaurant but it's a 10star compared to most 1stars around here. You know working fast food is super hard work especially because the humans they have to deal with are not the pinnacle of our society for the most part. Here we are; a Saturday morning. I'm rattling off breakfast places to my son to see who has the best Taylor ham, egg and cheese. He wants nothing to do with it. Then I casually mention in a means to just give suggestions.... White Castles has breakfast. Of course, that's start he wants. We both try the sausage egg and cheese. We also get the waffle, egg and bacon. We share the breakfast slider (burger, egg and cheese), hash brown nibblers and then get a regular slider for him and I get a double cheese in case things go bad. The sausage, egg and cheese was surprisingly decent. Better than I was expecting. The egg was not that rough texture you get at some fast food joints. Sausage was better than middle of the road. The waffle, egg and bacon was the go-to sandwich. There was a hint of syrup in the waffle and bacon was nice and crispy. The breakfast slider (burger, egg and cheese) was not enjoyable at all... Avoid it at all costs. Hash brown nibblers were your basic deep fried spheres of potatoes. I'm going to end this with the fact that the double cheeseburger was probably the best I had from Whities.... and it was in the morning. Had to be pre-Covid when I last had some WC sliders. Decided to place the order online and when I reached, the order was ready. 5 stars on that Ordered the 20 pack and one of the sliders was the chicken which was a major thumbs down. No sauce, No cheese. Just chicken and bread. Need to add something to get that dryness out of each bite. Fries - can tell it was sitting around. That's not good enough. Best thing to do is ask for a fresh batch to be made. Hopefully the manager at this location will take heed of this review and make some changes read more

I love White Castle. I know it's not objectively great. I know there are better burgers out there. I know some people seem to get digestive problems from their food (I don't). But it's different. If you grew up with these little sliders, you know. Service here is generally quick enough. The drive through line can sometimes get backed up, so I prefer just walking in. The seats and tables could use a deep cleaning. But it's not much worse than any other fast food place. Overall, this is my go-to White Castle in the northern NJ area. I love White Castles. Really tasty, but not necessarily good for you snacks. I used to eat 6 or more, but I limit myself these days to the Number One... 4 burgers, small fries and small dads. $7 does it end I never leave hungry. Three stars only because this outlet is really slow. Especially the drive thru lane. Wilt a little more speed, 4 stars. I never get cheese and the fries really don't need ketchup. After watching "that movie" a few years back, I always wondered what the hype was with this place. Eating a bunch of mini-burgers always intrigued me. But, living thousands of miles, I knew I would have to temper that curiousness. A few years later, I find myself on a family trip to the East Coast. Then, while driving, I remembered I always wanted to try White Castle. I asked my wife to "Yelp it" and she found one only 2 miles away! But, we just passed it. Making a u-turn on that State Route 17 isn't a easy feat, but after waiting a few years, I knew I had to risk it! LOL. The verdict? Meh. Wasn't horrible. Wasn't great. Satisfying like in the movie? Not really? But, I will say, for some odd reason, I liked the chicken RINGS! These were for the kids, but they were so good, I ended up getting a few more orders for the kids AND adults. They taste was good, but it was just fun to eat, I guess. Now, for the burgers, I love how they have different varieties: with cheese, without cheese, with jalapenos, with bacon, etc. I went with...... well, all of those. Duh! They're small enough to where you can eat a few and not feel like a glutton. Like I said, they weren't bad, but I didn't see what the hype was about. Not sure if it was just the location or what. It is all about the original sliders, steamed buns and perfectly garnished with cheese. We traveled from Florida and came directly from the airport to have our date night here. There is more than the meal it is the endless emotionally filled memories each perfectly cooked burger provides as I bite into them. The taste buds come alive and wonder why it took me so long to get another one. The chocolate milk shakes are very rich and a small is plenty. The fries and onion rings complement the slider but are not necessary to fulfill the meal. Give me two doubles anytime you want me to have an instant euphoria. read more

In Typical white castle fashion it took about 4x the time to get your order as a McDonald's lol. I've never in my life seen people move so slow. Man that slider was amazing! It melts in your mouth, great mix of fried onions, melted cheese, pickle, and the steamed bun from cooking the patty. Amazing.. I've been going to White Castle forever the tri state are gets it right! I've been do the Ohio White Castle taste completely different and they put mustard on it. It's a shame White Castle didn't have more chains up. I really don't understand all the negative feedback, slider was amazing , the staff was very friendly, courteous and cracked some jokes to lighten the mood. I think this is the one from the movie that they finally find right at the end of the first one, where NPH is inside. But I'm not sure. Idk WHY I like these little burgers so much, but theyr'e tasty enough for me. I came in asked for a medium sprite, and the staff must be preoccupied with chattering because at the front register I was ignored. Then a cashier hands me an over sized cup that doesn't even seem like a medium. I take the up to the soda machine and I wanted regular sprite, but there was nothing, but flavored sprite. Then I get water instead and it's disgusting. I think it made me sick. It wasn't even Dasani water, but some yellow liquid instead. Thanks a lot White Castle. Also, as a COVID safety precaution, a lot of other restaurants allow indoor dining, and to use the restroom, so I think you just lost a customer for good. read more

Never a good decision sober, a phenomenal idea when not. There is really no better way to describe White Castle. This location has been here for nearly 20 years and it's still as busy as ever. Service is slow during late night visits, which can drive your rating down. But when you finally do have that sack in your hand, it's a done deal. The chicken sandwiches are decent and you already know to expect greasiness with the burgers. I've yet to try the Surf & Turf burger or the fish sandwich, but I'll leave the other reviewers to that. Fish at fast food joints are never a good idea. Parking is abundant but spots close to the entrance are few. You should expect to walk a bit during busy times if you're thinking of dining in. The first fast food I ever ate was at White Castles. As a kid, the family would go to the North Bergen White Castle. As I got older (teens and early 20's) I used to eat at Whitie's quite often. After a night of drinking, why not punish yourself a little more by eating 10 cheeseburgers and onion rings at Castle? I still like White Castle. Another shattered dream! So being from California, one of the first things you want to experience is White Castle. After the Harold & Kumar movie, I'm pretty sure people from all over have flocked to the motherland of these tiny burgers to check out the hype. My boyfriend, friend and I were staying in Rutherford, NJ and White Castle was literally 5mins away. We decided to check it out. Why travel 3,000 miles and not see what all the commotion was about?! As we pulled up to the all white brick and mortar "Castle", my eyes got big with excitement. Getting out of the car was like the scene from the Harold & Kumar movie, "We FINALLY made it!" The decor was not warm and inviting. Just you're regular fast food joint, turned into a little castle. We ended up sharing a meal that cost about $21 which came with 10 burgers, fries and chicken rings (yummy chicken rings that looked like onion rings, but not so greasy). Unfortunately, we hyped up White Castle for ourselves. The only difference between the freshly made burgers and the box of frozen burgers you can get from the grocery store, were the pickles. I love White Castle for a variety of reasons: 1. I always weigh less the next morning after eating it. 2. The crispy spicy jalapeno sliders are the perfect amount of spicy and are so delicious. 3. I celebrate Valentine's Day with my husband here every year and they do such a great job with this. You make a reservation; they put out table cloths and candles. It's epic. Being from California, the only White Castle experience I've had comes from the frozen section of my grocery store and Harold & Kumar. Visiting the East Coast for a friend's wedding, I had to get it from the source. This place is pretty run down. Not exactly the kind of place you'd want to hang out for a while. The worker taking my order was really rude and I had to repeat my order 3 times for her to register what I was saying. I was surprised that it tastes the same as the frozen ones, just a tad bit fresher. Might just be the addition of pickles. You're not missing much if you just get the frozen ones and microwave it at home and you'll definitely be a lot more comfortable! My friends say it's not exactly a place that you go while completely sober. Guess that was my mistake. P.S. Make sure you call dibs on the bathroom for the rest of the day. You'll need it. read more
