This was just okay. I was optimistic by the appearance of the restaurant. The restaurant was newer, up to date, and clean. We were the only people in the restaurant at dinner time which was a little concerning. The fried green tomatoes were good with their house sauce. My shrimp and cheese grits were good, but just good. The house sauce was put in the bowl, but in my opinion it ruined the simple cheese grits and shrimp. Honestly, less is more. This bowl had a lot of the house dipping sauce, cheddar cheese and goat/feta like cheese, green onions, and bacon. The shrimp was good. I got the Petite bowl and it came with 5 shrimp and 4 hushpuppies. The hushpuppies were just okay. Not much flavor. Would have liked the dipping house sauce on the side of that rather than poured in my got bowl. My boyfriend got the tacos and they were huge! The tacos were pretty good! No complaints there. He got hushpuppies too and got a side of the house sauce. Overall, I think I'd rather try another local restaurant next time. read more

We had never been to The Wharf Casual Dining so after two recommendations we decided to give them a go. The guy at the register was friendly, answered all our questions with a smile and knew all the answers, like sauce info, portion sizes, etc. we ordered the Loaded Fried Green Tomatoes appetizer. I could have had these for my entree and be happy, they were so delicious! The perfect combination of tanginess from the tomatoes with the Wharf sauce, feta cheese, bacon, and chives. I was a little bummed that they did not have enough grits for a grits bowl, just enough for a couple of sides, so I changed my mind to the Honey Pecan Shrimp (fried) and I am glad I did. Spouse got the Wharf Shrimp (grilled). The shrimp and hush puppies were really great tasting! The grits were okay, but needed a little salt. The cashier at the register was also the person bussing tables, and he was serving food, and was the bartender as well. He was staying busy! The inside is decorated nicely and was clean. read more

Great little quality-casual seafood restaurant. You really won't notice it's there, which is why it goes somewhat unnoticed. We dined at about 5:00 p.m. on 1-11-25. Maybe 6 other people there when we were - which was great for us, but still crazy - but the staff was super nice and so helpful. I had the Destin Platter (blackened) With Shrimp, Mahi Mahi, and a Salmon cake. All were great! Sides were a great, smoky, red beans and rice and garlic green beans, which were ok. The hush puppies were terrific as well. My husband had the sweet, and a little spicy, Wharf Shrimp (lightly fried, with a tasty sauce). Sides were the best smoked Gouda cheese I've ever had and hush puppies. More than we could eat, but all were fresh & terrific. Give them a try. Off HWY 84 West, just past Bondy's Nissan and Tractor Supply. If you are not looking for it, you'll miss it as it sits off the highway and down the hill. Tiny sign, but worth the trip. First time here and wanted to try some southern seafood locally. Went on a Sunday night around 6:30pm, was very quiet and only one other party besides us. The food was pretty good, a little heavy with all of the fried stuff but there are several different ways you can have your order cooked. My wife and I decided to try this place for the first time. Little did we know that we would be making two trips, our first and last. I ordered the fried shrimp and my wife ordered the fried oysters. We shared plates with each other and agreed that the shrimp and oysters were average at best. I ordered the natural cut fries which turned out to be straight of a bag processed fries. I called this to the attention of two of the employees and was told they are "natural cut" and that doesn't mean hand cut. No offer to replace the side with something edible. My wife got the smashed potatoes and cole slaw as sides. The smashed potatoes were pretty good and the cole slaw was average. You have to order from a counter and when you pay, you have to opt to leave a tip at that point. Going in, I was eager to experience this place and left a hefty 25% tip just to find out there is no table service. When they deliver the food to the table, you are on your own. If you need a drink refill, you have to find an employee and get them to get it for you. All in all, a 3 Star rating may be a little strong, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Like I said, this was two trips in one for us; the first and last. Nothing to see here, move along. read more

What a pleasant surprise- I have been wanting to try this place m, but just figured it was a glorified Captain D's. The atmosphere is cozy and v wry well decorated. You order your food at the counter snd then they bring it to you. The staff was extremely friendly and offered suggestions. We tried the Red Fish, which was very well cooked and a large portion. The wharf shrimp and grits weee delicious, better than far pricier restaurants I have been to. They have local beer on tap, with a few other options. The staff was so friendly I stated that they were the 'chick fil a' of seafood lol - We will be returning. read more

I've done online ordering 3 times in the last year and some how all three have been a cluster. Each time it's almost the exact same excuse. Kitchen does t have the order . Today I'm sitting here and have had three other online order get there stuff, but I have to show them my acknowledgment on my phone and miraculously they can get it started. Mediocre experience over all. The food that I ate was decent but there were two problems. 1. Service is sloooow. For a casual dining place, I'd expect 20-30 minutes wait at most. We waited a little over an hour for our food. Wouldn't have been a huge deal but it was plenty of time such that issue number 2 should have been prevented. 2. I ordered a combination plate. Turns out, one of the entrees that I ordered was out. If they'd have made me aware of that, I would have happily picked another choice. Instead, I was supposedly given more of the other entree that I had ordered. The whole point of getting the combo option was to have a little variety. We've eaten here 3 times. Typically seafood restaurants are a little bit pricey. However at the bar their prices may concern you at first but their portions make out for whatever you feel may be pricey. I had to fish entree which was excellent, and they also provide malt vinegar which is unusual for most fish restaurants recently. read more

For Dothan this would be a 4 star place. But really it's 3 stars at best. I'll start with the good. The food was cooked properly. The fish was soft and flaky, the shrimp was soft and tender. The gumbo was excellent, good flavor with both shrimp and fish in it. The crab cakes are full of crab, good flavor but salty. Now the bad. The blackened rub is way to heavy and has far too much salt. I couldn't finish my fish because the salt level got to be too much half way through. The hush puppies are nothing more than fried corn bread, there is no seasoning in it. The cole slaw is some generic bland flavorless slaw. As well as the potato salad. Brussel sprouts were so-so, tasted good but kind of soft and soggy. Now with the reason I would really rather give a 2 star review than 3. I tried 8 times to call in a pick up order and nobody answered the phone. Your other option is to order on line through a third party website that requires membership and does not offer credit card payment,only Apple Pay. So that is not an option for me and I would assume a lot of other people too. read more
