This place is amazing. Mega authentic! Dishes you'd recognize if you'd ever been to the non-tourist areas of Mexico. Tucked inside the Supermercado next to the main post office, this place does not disappoint. Service is simple, you order at the counter, they bring it out or (if they are busy) you'll have to pick up your meal at the pass. What a great Yelp find as we were driving down the road. We were impressed with the service, our food, and the salsa bar. My tacos were great. My friends loved their tacos and fajitas. The supermarket is packed with great items. The restaurant was clean and comfortable. The ladies' bathroom was clean. We were the only gringos, which makes it the best type of Mexican restaurant. Tried this place the first week they were open. When we walked in- we both commented on the interior. The decor is clean and refreshing from all other Mexican restaurants in the area. We were given tuna ceviche and fried corn tortillas instead of salsa and chips, it was extremely tasty. They have a large offering of seafood on the menu. Since this was our first time trying we stayed with our favorites, steak quesadillas and steak burrito, both were excellent. We will go back and try their more original menu items. read more

My boyfriend and I came here on a Monday around 11:30 and upon first glance it's a grocery store, but walk to the back and there's a small restaurant. It's very authentic to the point where our waitress couldn't speak much English and asked for a translator at one point. I ordered 3 various tacos and my boyfriend had 2 tacos and a side of rice and beans. The food was fresh and delicious. There's also a sauce bar you can select whatever type of sauce you want. Along with cucumbers, radish, and pickled peppers. Our bill was $18.34. They charge for water as they give you a water bottle and their rice and beans was very bland. Served on paper plates, figured if being charged more for the rice and beans they'd at least be on a real plate. Overall, it was good, pricier than what I expected for a mom and pop type of taco shop. But I'd still return if I was in the area. read more

This place have definitely earned my business. They have homemade Chorizo, pork skins, and variety of raw meat with seasoning. You can get the meat without seasoning. We found this place two weeks after moving to Dothan, initially went in t but some plantains, and seen the cafe in the back and we were eating tacos at 11 am. We have gone back several times over the years trying alot of menu Items and have brought all our friends. I have purchased the seasoned meats and produce, everything is always fresh and good. They now just open a restaurant on Westgate Parkway near pinch a penny pool. Haven't been able to get in yet as they are always crowded. But i am defiantly looking foward to it. read more

Probably the most authentic mexican joint here in Dothan! The actual restaurant is behind their market. They speak very little English, but it wasn't hard to order. I got sopes with asada. The masa was slightly crunchy, which I loved! The meat was flavorful and topped with delicious crumbled cheese. I also love how they have 4 different kinds of sauce (at their sauce bar). They also have turnips, limes, salsa, and chips! Definitely coming back to get my taco fix next time. read more

Expectations are important. Don't expect a fancy Mexican restaurant with margaritas and flaming fajitas. This is more authentic Mexican, but every bit as delicious. If you like simple carne asada tacos sprinkled with lime, you are in for a treat. I also picked up a coconut ice pop looking thing from the freezer which blew my mind. This place is a little rough around the edges which add to the atmosphere. Food was phenomenal but the service is probably typical of service in rural Mexico. Once again the service communication issues adds to the ambiance of the place. Food was wonderful. read more

I went here on an *interesting* school field trip multiple times and the food was just delicious. They are authentic mexican food and drinks. It felt like I was in a real mercado in Mexico. There is a small store at the entrance, selling spices, maltas and candies. I honed in on a peanut pattie, a candy taking me back to childhood!!! I could not wait until I got home to start snacking down memory lane......screech....brakes!!! The entire underside of the candy was full of bug shells, pieces and whole! I immediately checked date and it was expired by 2 months! When I returned to the store and showed this to the clerk, unconcerned was reaction to say the best. No apology. Just refund of money. As I was leaving the store, I checked the rest of the candy display. Every one had bug pieces. I showed this to the clerk and he actually shrugged his shoulders! Overall horrible experience. Had trouble ordering due to lack of staffs fluency in the English language. I ordered the beef tacos (the woman behind the counter would only refer to it as "meat" not beef) and my girlfriend ordered the beef (once again "meat") quesadilla. Quality of the "meat" was dog food at best. Chips and salsa are left out in open air for everyone to grab as they please. Overall cleanliness of the restaurant was poor. Two thoughts entered my mind upon leaving. 1.) I will never eat there again 2.) does the health department even know there is a restaurant in the back of the store. read more
