We have been at this particular Rodeo in the past. We were a with another couple. This occasion we were there with a large group in the private room. First I want to say the place was not busy for a Monday night. The majority of customers were in our group. The experience was less than ideal. Only one server taking orders!!!!! He must have been greedy. Now he did have assistance when bring out the food. But he was not prepared to handle this large of a group. The food was okay but nothing to say wow. But most of the Mexican establishment in the Dothan area have that authentic taste. For the service I give this night a 1 The food and 2. This particular restaurant of the chain needs to make sure they are properly staffed for bigger parties. read more

Recent transplant to Dothan Alabama. Looking for good food because the town as a whole is not great for a food scene. Discovered Rodeo Mexican and what a treat. Very simple no frills but it was very delicious. I had a burrito supreme and some refried beans and rice and a margarita and they were very delicious. The the service was very good. The margarita I had was the size of my head and it was also very good. It was the "Texas margarita". I will definitely be back. Came here on a recommendation from a local friend. Food was standard fare, but not very tasty. I got the Chicken al Carbon. I was looking for a fire-grilled piece of chicken, that was not it. The rice and beans needed seasoning. I would eat here if I had to, but not a favorite. read more

Went to rodeo on southside and OMG !! They put in some claw games as you walk in and there was a party in the back and there kids were walking back and forth the whole time I even seen one kid run past this guy and almost knocked his drink off the table. There wasn't just one kid there was like ten different kids walking back and fourth playing these games and screaming every time they won I have never seen parents let there kids not only walk around but run around in a restaurant, this is not only disturbing to customers but dangerous for the children and the waiters. In a town full of the run of the mill Mexican restaurants, Rodeo is on the side of better than most. I love the decor! At one time, it was a Chinese restaurant but it makes an excellent Mexican restaurant. I will also like to note that Rodeo smells extremely pleasant. It does not smell like a run of the mill Mexican restaurant. The salsa was satisfying but nothing to really separate itself from other Mexican restaurants. For an appetizer, I ordered the fiesta dip. It was a mix of beans, beef, sour cream, guacamole, cheese, and black olives. I was imagining it to be like a layer dip. It wasn't layered but sort of just mixed together. It was a satisfactory. I chose the burrito rancheros, which are 2 burritos covered in ranchero sauce and salsa verde. One came with beef and the other came with chicken. The menu said there was no queso on it but some did come on mine. I had ordered queso on the side so I could smother my burrito. The queso was not your run of the mill but had some diced peppers mixed in. The burritos did come with the sour cream, lettuce, and pico de gallo on the side. I did enjoy my burritos and queso. Sweet tea was refreshingly extra sweet! That might be the best part of every run of the mill Mexican restaurant. Every single one of them has excellent sweet tea. Overall, Rodeo was a satisfying meal. Nothing was bad but on the other hand, nothing was exceptional. I would eat Rodeo again though. read more

I didn't care for this place much, but the service was excellent. The margaritas are pre-made and over sugary, my burrito was made poorly, the salsa wasn't memorable. My husband on the other hand loved his meal. We felt the same about the margaritas. I overall ate at this place once, and probably wont go back again. Although we saw advertisements for Rodeo, we had no intention of trying this mexican restaurant. However, our hotel was next to one and the night manager recommended it because "the food was good." We arrived around 8:30pm and was greeted and seated promptly. Our server was efficient and pleasant. Shortly after ordering she brought us chips and salsa. The chips were ok but the salsa was like pureed tomato sauce with an infrequent piece of onion here and there. I ordered a combo plate which included two enchiladas (beef, chicken or cheese), a taco and my choice if beans or rice. The enchiladas were satisfactory but not the sauce. The taco was good. The Spanish rice was fluffy and tasty. The value was excellent, $7.99. The upshot, if you're tired from a days worth of driving and this place is nearby I'd give it a try. Not amazing. I was disappointed after hearing encouraging support from friends and locals to Dothan. This place is a chain so I thought it must be really good to have such a demand... I was wrong. This is my second time here and both times I came alone on my lunch break. Both times I had to flag a waiter just to take my drink order. BOTH times I had to remind them to get my cheese dip. Good food is where you find it, and you will definitely find it here. We are on a very long motorcycle trip so we didn't want to sit down so we wanted to get something to go. We were greeted by a very polite and helpful young lady. Once we placed our order she said it will take about ten minutes. I doubt it was even that. And wow piping hot and delicious. I wanted to walk back over and give her another tip. Post covid it seems like so many people have short tempers and don't give a darn attitudes. Bland, below average, Mexican food. Chips were pieces out of the bottom of a bag, salsa was completely flavorless. Too lazy to even chop up the tomato, plate came with a SLICE of tomato (with refried bean paste covering 95% of the plate) and unseasoned chicken inside a fried flour tortilla disguised as a chimichanga. All topped off with terrible customer service. Seated us under a ceiling fan on high and refused to turn it down because "there are other customers" and didn't even offer another table until we specifically asked for one. Every other ceiling fan was on low, so not sure what the big deal was to ask for it to be lowered so our napkins wouldn't blow away. Wouldn't even think of going back to this place. As someone who lived in Texas, I take my Mexican food seriously. We were very disappointed in the quality and taste of the food: Carne Asada: the steak was paper thin, rubbery and devoid of flavor. Easily the worst Carne Asada I've ever had. Camarones a la Diablo. We like spicy and have enjoyed spicy food our whole life. They over-spiced this and somehow forgot the salt. The shrimps were cooked perfectly but the overwhelming spice with no balance of salt made the dish less than desirable. Beef enchiladas. Bland. Steak burrito. Bland and chewy. Flan: superb! I would not go back. Prices looked very reasonable but you get what you pay for. read more

I try to eat here once a week. Life doesn't always work out that way, but I try to be as frequent a diner at the establishment as possible. This restaurant is consistently excellent. I do my best to try something new as often as I can, or I circle back something that wowed me. The spicy burrito delicious and very filling. Heck, everything is filling. Generous portion sizes is an understatement. Steak Rancheros, loved every bite. Burrito Supreme, excellent. Burrito Cancun, I truly thought I had found my new all-time-fav. Tonight I met the Quesadilla Vallarta, new favorite. My favorite place for Mexican. The salsa is always consistently good, and I love the individual salsa bowls. Great value for the proportions. Taste that leaves you craving it. May be a wait. Casual dim-lit atmosphere. If I ever want anything satisfying that I can count on for the price, I will come here for the free chips and well-priced plates. The Mexican style is always going to be satisfying with the cheese, quac, seasoning, beans, and rice but this one leaves me craving it and is always top of mind when I think of where to casually eat in Dothan. I have never had anything that came out cold, burnt, or dry. It is dimly lit, which I like. Chairs are slightly uncomfortable and tables may be wobbly, which isn't a big deal. It is going to normally be packed so there may be a wait, but even if the line is long the service is so good you will wait so much less compared to other franchises that seat you at their convenience. Overall I will recommend Rodeo if you want a taste you are used to and can count on, with great servers and a decent but casual atmosphere.
