I went into the store Saturday, January 18 and spent about $900 on weightlifting equipment…read moreincluding one major item which needed to be shipped to my house namely a Nike squat rack. I received notification from Dick's Sporting Goods and also FedEx that it had arrived at my house today however what I found was simply too posts which make up part of the unit but that was all. So in other words I received something that was totally unusable and didn't compromise the majority of the parts that were supposed to arrive constituting the whole unit. I'm including two pictures attached here. One is an actual picture of what the unit is on the website and the other is what arrived at my house. I called the online store location since that is where it ultimately came from and they didn't know what they were doing and it took me forever to get them to understand what the problem was even though it's a very simple scenario and they told me that I would either have to repack everything and let FedEx pick it back up and wait for a new order to come in or I could wait for them to contact the manufacturer and see how long it would take them to replace whatever pieces are missing. I got no idea of how long either option would take. So I spent time repackaging everything for a future FedEx pick up. I called the Woodbridge Dick's Sporting Goods store to give feedback to the store because they are the ones that I paid for this and they are the ones to put the order in and I have to say that I didn't get any empathy at all. I'm sure that I wasn't in a good mood when I spoke to them but they weren't at all helpful or nice about it. They weren't rude either. All I can say is, after spending a little bit less than 1000 bucks, I really thought I would get better service and results than this. I'm hopeful that UPS does come and pick up what they sent and then brings me a new box that contains all the parts so that I can actually have what I paid for. I don't know how long that'll take no idea but hopeful. I would advise anybody to be very careful shopping there to make sure that things are done properly.

The Spanish gentleman that does the fishing report was there, I was going to introduce myself and say I was a fan until I heard him keep cursing up a storm about everything to his coworker. Talking about some tech who came to his house to fix his washer dryer. No big deal, I just kept quiet and rolled through and helped myself. Then I go to checkout and the kid at the register just doesn't say anything. He was doing something, so I had to address him and ask if I could checkout. Then after the transaction he just doesn't say anything like "alright good to go" or "thanks" ..nothing . I was like "ok are we good?" And he says "yea do you need a receipt or something?" Annoyed. I almost lost it. I try to support local tackle shops, but this is the type of stuff that irritates me. Like I'm a nuisance even though we are the ones keeping your doors open. I can get the same products for cheaper dropped off to my doorstep. I want to support, but it's not worth it when you are treated like you're invisible/annoying. Just order your gear online before spending gas money to come here. Good for last minute items, but don't expect any kind of Good vibes/Help/Comradery .

But my wife has recently become a "backpacker" and I wanted to get her fitted for a legitimate backpack so we made an exception to our black friday rule and went to the only place I would go to locally backpacking and other outdoor gear, River Rock Outfitter Even though the shop was filled with customers, Keith and April, the owners, immediately greeted us. When April finished with her customer she began the process for fitting my with a backpack. This process which included measuring her torso, what type of backpacking it was for day hikes or multiple day/night trips, types of weather, trying on multiple packs (with weigjts in the pack) took approximately 40 minutes, maybe more, but it was such a pleasant experience, it only seemed like minutes. My wife and April found the perfect pack but since it was not in the color my wife wanted, April placed in on order. We'll return in a day or two, try it on again and walk out with an early Christmas present for my wife we will now be able to share and enjoy many more years of backpacking together with a comfortable backpack.
